Two hoaxes about the Japanese government's "International University of Excellence" (Essay)

「日本の大学は研究資金が乏しく、無才な日本人だけでは国際的な研究が覚束ない」という理由で、資金と人材を広く海外から求め、国際的に通用する大学として「国際卓越研究大学」を運用すると文部科学省が息巻いている。

両方の論点は間違っている。そもそも日本の大学に研究資金が乏しいのは、２０００年代初頭に、自ら日本を先進国から失墜させた小泉純一郎総理大臣の仕業である。大学を独立採算制にして、研究資金をどうでもよい研究にばかり振り向けたのだ。独創的な研究の芽を摘んだのだ。

また、国際的な人材として中国人、インド人が想定されているようだが、ノーベル科学３賞や数学のフィールズ賞などを、数十人が受賞している日本に比べれば、中国人もインド人もろくに受賞していない（ゼロ人だったかも）。これで日本人が無才だと言うのか。

中国人は東北大学（国際卓越大学モデル校）、東京大学に多く在籍するが、人の研究を盗むことしか能のない中国人がロケット技術を盗んで日本を狙う中国製ミサイルになっているのだから、日本政府はバカの中のバカだと言える。インド人留学生に奨学金３００万円与えるというのもバカな話だ。能力のある日本人学生にこそ与えるべきだ。日本政府は狂っているが、文部科学省も例外ではない。

some tips i've learned these past months about the national museums. first of all, when i'm talking about national museums, i'm talking about the 16 museums directly controlled by the subdirección general de museos estatales, as in these ones:

(in english, they are: 1. national museum of subaquatic archaeology, 2. america museum, 3. national anthropology museum, 4. national archaeology museum, 5. national museum of decorative arts, 6. cerralbo museum, 7. national romanticism museum, 8. sorolla museum, 9. fashion museum, 10. national museum of roman art, 11. altamira national museum and centre of investigation, 12. el greco museum, 13. sephardi museum, 14. national museum of ceramics and sumptuary arts gonzález martí, 15. museum house of cervantes, 16. national sculpture museum)

yes, i know the prado and reina sofia museums should be there as well. idk man. they're weird and work a bit different so these tips don't apply to them.

anyways:

•as stated in a previous post, all of these museums have free online visits, there's even a guided introduction tour available. and of course most of these museums also have virtual expositions if you are looking for something more specific. all online visits can be accessed here, with english options for both the tour and independent visit.

•all of the museum's collection can be searched through cer.es. in some museums (i only remember the museo del traje rn but i'm sure this happens in other museums as well) it can also be accessed through their website. again, for free.

•legally the full entrance ticket for all these museums is 3€, 1.5€ if you're a student (or have the tarjeta joven) and honestly many other requisites, just ask at the ticket office.

•also legally they have to be free 4 days a month (once per week). this varies from museum to museum, so check on the website before visiting. also, the prado and reina sofía museums are free 2 hours before closing !!!

•all their libraries have to be accessible to everyone. in some cases you might have to ask for permission, but they have to let you in.

One of my hypotheses is that Trump vaguely remembers hearing about Japan building its domestic industries with tarriffs in the ‘70s and ‘80s, but either doesn’t remember or never learned about the massive involvement the government had in building those industries through institutions like MITI.

Protectionism doesn’t work if you don’t already have mature industries to protect.
