There’s something so holy and intimate about the way St. John refers to himself (not sure if exclusively or just pretty often) as “the apostle whom Jesus loved” in his gospel. Not only is his sense of self centered on Jesus in a loving act of surrender to God, but also it manages to tie God as his as well. It’s saying, yes, I’m nothing without God. It’s also saying God wouldn’t want to be anything without me, either. Where do you find this kind of trust. Where do you get this kind of Love

Something about Dumbledore being so hard on Snape

Dumbledore who trusted Snape so much he knew that even if Snape resented him he would not betray him

Dumbledore who asked Snape to be the one to kill him, not just to save Draco's soul but for his own sake

Dumbledore who chose to die but only at the hands of someone he had grown to love

making a sep post bc i don't want to derail it but like. even extending beyond queerness, there is an uncomfortable focus on telling your parents things, especially vulnerable things, about yourself like. idk if it's just i'm like horribly staunchly youth lib anti familiy etc. but like everytime someone asks me if my parents know information about me i am like Astonished that that's even a viable option to them. my parents will never know more about me than the absolute bare minimum required for me to exist in my day to day life.

ughh i have so many feelings about characters that are backed into a corner, snarling and bleeding and dying but instead of letting themselves die and fade into obscurity they get up and keep fighting. they don’t just let themselves get swept into the wings of the heavens—instead they grit their teeth and make their death mean something. if they’re going down, if there’s no other option—their death is going to mean something. if they’re dying, they’ll take another dozen, hundred, thousand of their enemies with them. even if it’s meaningless in the end, even if they won’t survive to see the happy ending the bloodshed won them. they’d rather plunge a knife into their heart and make the world watch than pass away in a hospital bedside, they’d rather bleed themselves dry out of spite to cover up the sight of their foes celebrating.

love how this couple comes in for their 30th anniversary and they seem a little annoyed w one another so immediately Seigi is like. yup. i smell a divorce coming.

a lot of people don’t get why dazai seemed “gloomy” in this scene because “he killed the person he wanted to kill” and i think from my perspective anyway, it comes down to the fact that although dazai is most likely “sad” about having killed (so he thought) maybe the only other person thus far that has truly understood him, he is also a) aware of himself as a potential danger already, and in killing fyodor this solidifies that people like themselves are always going to be dangerous no matter how much “good” they think they can accomplish because their ways of thinking and their lack of emotional input into the world separates them from average people every time and b) even being that nikolai wanted to kill fyodor, dazai is watching someone mourn in a mirror almost of the way he mourned his own friend and the person who gave him purpose for living. nikolai says as much himself that fyodor, and later the idea of killing fyodor, fuelled his purpose for living to discover true freedom, which i think mirrors dazai’s view of himself in the mafia but also how odasaku granted dazai his freedom in telling him how he should try to live his life. dazai as character grows a lot in terms of how he views death and grief, especially when talking to atsushi about the orphanage director, saying “people usually cry when their father’s die” meaning that no matter how confusing it is for atsushi to be sad that the man who made his life a living misery is dead, it’s okay for him to feel this way. dazai is just very reassuring of allowing people to digest emotion in whatever way they choose without having something smart to say about it. it’s not exactly empathy, but just a simple recognition that such devastating emotion is sometimes incredibly difficult to reconcile and experience in a way that most “normal” people would

Me, an intellectual: given people's hair tends to darken as they grow and Neil hasn't actually seen his natural hair (aside from the roots which will look differently when the rest of your hair is dyed) since he was a child - it darkened to auburn as he grew but he never noticed because... its Neil and when it grows out fully only then will he actually be able to tell
