Author Update!

Hey y'all! Been a bit, as usual. Thanks for your patience, as always. I struggled a lot with this chapter -- really had to push myself to post it despite the overwhelming belief that it's really not my best work. I hope I prove myself wrong!

Under the cut is the latest update on my life. It's been a doozy of a year so far.

First off, married life has been doing me well. It's really not that much different, except my students learned what the word "spouse" means, and when they remind me I'm married, I go over the moon. I thought that one was important enough to stay out of bullets.

The rest of this is a bit out of order, just because-- well, you'll see in the bullet points.

Got my name change paperwork, meaning my name is officially no longer something that makes me cringe. I'm still working on getting it changed with the SSA, primarily because that fucking office suuuuucks.

Turns out my car's registration expired in 2023. Woops. Got that fixed, which cost me a lot of money.

Speaking of things costing money, me and my spouse sat down with their mother to budget. Did you know teachers aren't paid enough? Did you know I'm barely surviving on our income? Fuck.

Finally emailed Electric about the bullshit experience we've had with them... which sucks ass because they still haven't gotten back to us about a day to fix it, because they took a break for Spring Break. Shockingly, guess what? THAT'S THE ONLY TIME I HAVE FREE. Cause I'm a teacher.

Made it to 250k words this year so far. Wild.

Been working on my Littlewood Fanfic, which has been a lot of fun! I've also been working on transferring my fics to Ao3 as well, so... sorry, subscribers who got bombarded with a million emails...

The callouts abound and continue!! I'm so tired of online spaces. I'm now a horrible person because [checks] ah, yes. I'm queer in the wrong way, and I don't care about discourse that doesn't impact my personal life... Yaaaay.

We've been struggling a lot more with my disorder. DID is... tough. My amnesia has kinda been kicking my ass these past few weeks/months, with a lot more gaps in my memory. I think it's due to the stress of dishes, laundry, electric, work, and all the shit in between. It's been a lot.

I have a wedding next weekend! Not my own -- actually, the person who married us is getting married!

Not sure what else to say. I've been... so fucking tired lately. Online spaces have been exhausting because I feel like everywhere on tumblr is just filled with hate. But I read a new fic by a friend and experienced joy today, which helped me actually feel something, lol.

Are there plans on doing this event again? I missed this event the first time around and would love if this was done again at some point.

Hi! I would love to run this event again, but I am unfortunately insanely busy for the foreseeable future, so any future running of this event wouldn't be until mid next year at the absolute earliest sadly.

I fully encourage everyone to keep writing fics in their own language, even without this event running!

what is a big bang?

a big bang is a fan-led event in which writers and artists collaborate together to create long-form content. each writer gets a selection of artists drawing for their story, and a beta-reader if they choose. this event gives creatives a chance to bring their ideas to life in the form of creative teams. ever had a nagging idea for something long or intricate? now you’ve got the chance :)

as this is a royai big bang, the only conditions are that the content created is focused on roy mustang and riza hawkeye – platonic, romantic, or otherwise!

the plan is to not only foster the creation of long-form content specifically for royai, but to create some beautiful epubs of these fics as well as the anthology. i want everyone to feel proud of what they’ve created!

the current plan is to have 5 big bang writers, and 20 anthology writers, and about 30 to 40 artists. collectively this group will create over 600,000 words of royai fanfic, and approximately 120 different pieces of fanart.

a big bang, indeed.
