thinkig about when the 2000s olympics was in sydney and these two comedians introduced an unofficial mascot called fatso the fat arsed wombat which looked like this

and everybody in australia just started acting like he was the official olympic mascot to the point where ppl were winning gold medals and bringing a plushie of him up to the podium

and the olympic committee got so mad about it they had to implement all these bans to try and preserve the integrity of the games or whatever but literally nobody else gave a shit so he just kept . showing up everywhere

Theres something really insidious about how gastric bypass advocates deny that essential organ mutilation is unhealthy.

"I've lost so much weight I'm so healthy" your stomach is mutilated.

"My doctor is praising my progress" your stomach is mutilated.

"I fit in so many more clothes now"

Because an essential, life sustaining organ in your body was cut up and your digestive system rerouted.

Health isn't the end all be all of value, humanity or importance but I feel like there is a huge lie here when this is "healthy" and it's just ignored.

Sorry to just bring this up out of no where but I was reminded of how little this is really talked about in bypass circles. Like, no matter what, you are now unhealthy. The spector of health continues. The Ouroboros is unbroken. Only this time it's doctor approved.

I think I've brought this up before but:

My gyno who had her pronouns on a name tag and pride flags kept harassing me about weight loss despite me telling her it was inappropriate. I said I would talk to my primary doctor if it was concern and she gave me diet culture BS without even knowing my history. She also didn't think my orientation was real.

Queer folk and our allies still have work to do. You cannot support only part of a person when they experience multiple axis of oppression, you cannot half ass support. You can not know better and need to work on it, but at least try.

This pride and all year long, I want to give a shout out to us fat queer people

To fat queer people who never get to see representation of themselves because the vast majority of queer representation is of thin people

To fat queer people who have to put ten times the effort into their gender expression just to be viewed as 10% of their gender

To fat queer people who get misgendered no matter how they look

To fat queer people who can never present how they want to anyway because affirming clothes in their size are either nonexistent, triple the price, or terrible quality

To fat asexuals who are believed even less about their identity because they're told it's just a matter of "no one wanting to have sex with them"

To fat aromantics who aren't respected because their aromanticism is viewed as "No one loved you anyway"

To fat gay people who have their identities denied because "You just couldn't find a man/woman who wanted you"

To fat nonbinary people whose bodies are viewed in the queer community as inherently gendered and incapable of being androgynous

To fat binary trans people who are always viewed as whatever gender hurts them most

To fat trans people who are denied surgeries due to medical fatphobia, have difficulty finding products like binders in their size, are told that thinness is a must to "pass" as their gender, and have their bodies weaponized by terfs

To fat queer people who are viewed as "cringe" for the crime of existing as fat and queer

To fat queer people who can't even buy pride merchandise without having to worry if their size will be offered and then have to pay more than thin queer people just to show their queer pride

To fat queer people who developed eating disorders due to the fatphobia peddled by their own communities

To fat queer people whose identities are partially influenced or entirely caused by the fatphobia they have experienced for years and decades

To fat queer people who are forced by fellow queer people into sexual positions they're uncomfortable with, such as topping, just because they're bigger and have stereotypes forced onto their body

To fat queer people who joined a relationship and experienced sexual trauma because their partner only wanted to humiliate a fat person and ignore your boundaries

To fat queer people who only see themselves in queer porn as a tool for the humiliation of thin queer people who dared to have sex with a fat person or never see your body in sexual content at all

To fat femmes who are viewed as butch no matter what they do because their fatness is gendered against their will

To fat butches who don't feel able to experiment with femininity if they want to

To fat queer people who have an even harder time finding a partner in the queer community because of rampant fatphobia

To fat queer people who have had to hear "No fats, no femmes"

To fat queer people who are constantly told they're not "truly oppressed" because they "don't have it as bad as [X queer identity]"

To fat intersex people who have to deal with strangers believing they're an expert on your body because fat people can't have knowledge about how their own bodies work

To fat queer people who can't even trust that other queer people fighting for equality won't use fat bodies as symbolism for immoral behaviors and beliefs

To fat queer people who can't rely on doctors who accept queer identities to not still discriminate against them because of medical fatphobia

To fat queer people who don't believe they can be loved without being fetishized

To fat queer people whose queer identities are viewed even more as a fetish because their bodies are viewed as a fetish

To fat queer people who took way longer to realize they're queer because they never saw any queer representation that included them

And to so, so, so many other fat people with experiences of fatphobia in the queer community

You all belong. You are the identities you say you are. You do not make the queer community "look bad" just because fatphobes want to use our bodies as weapons for fatphobia and queerphobia. You deserve to be respected and have representation. You deserve to not be treated as an afterthought.

We are queer, and our experiences matter.

In light of ANOTHER thin Carrie I got WORDS.

The continued use of thin actresses to play Carrie underlines that fat people cant be empathized or sympathized with, they refuse to make people see us as victims and worthy of the sympathy thin Carrie gets.

Because the audience never has to confront their fat bigotry. Anti bullying psas will use fat for the bully instead of reality in which fat people are victims of bullying.

Carries' fatness was why PIGS blood was used. They considered her a pig and as such an animal to be put into place. "Well if they needed blood where could they get it from if not a pig" chickens. They couldn't do a cow because they'd be too much to handle. Deer could work if it was the right season. But chickens. Chicken shit Carrie works but it was pig blood wasn't it?

"Fat in the 70s was different" how, because fat people existed, at most we were "more rare" so that doesn't help the idea that Carrie was secretly thin, those who stand out are hit down. The term "overweight" was used she's FAT.

They refuse to show fat people as victims worthy of cheering for. If we are victims its supposed to be our hubris and thus funny. We cant be innocent and vulnerable like thin Carrie. Invoking a thin waifish Carrie confronts nothing, but victims aren't all thin. Allowing the audience to sit uncomfortably with their biases is the point of a bullied person getting revenge narrative. They nueter the message over and over and over like the fuck.

And before anyone is like "Its just a movie chill" yeah and I obviously care. If you dont care then dont talk to me. Im sick of the selective nihilistic cringe that demands we laugh at people who care about things.

Hi, welcome!! I do plan on adding Mighty and Ray eventually, but as of right now, I'm too unfamiliar with them to write them properly. To make sure I write them true to character, I'll add them once I've consumed more of their media and know them better, just like I did with Espio, Charmy, and Vector! Thanks for asking!! (Also I didn't realize they had an anniversary coming up, that's so cool!)

I still get angry when I think about how I didn't know I had asthma until my 20s because I was taught I was automatically unhealthy so that was just my lot in life. That fat people just couldn't breathe well so I was stuck like that. My friends didn't have asthma growing up and tv only showed severe symptoms of an asthma attack and only through thin people. Fat people always struggled to breathe "because fat"- they never had explanations. Just randomly being unable to get enough air to talk based on how hot and humid it was my punishment.

I only realized it when an asthmatic friend offered me her inhaler during an episode that no this is manageable.

And then I got into fat liberation and realized that even if it was directly caused by my weight that doesn't mean I deserved to suffer. Inhalers exist.

I just can't get over the bullshit they teach us. That suffering is the only way a fat person can exist. And if we don't have people around us to argue otherwise we of course accept it.
