These chapters and particularly Benson's bring up the role of positive/negative reward pathways in playing that I think is an interesting connection back to Stuart's Ethics as well as creating new links to biology (these terms are frequently used in neurobehavioral studies). With these player-centric theories that focus on play as biological--are we giving something up for this definition? I also notice the focus on the individual was key in the writing outcomes as well though all of these theories in one way or another acknowledge the social aspects of learning and play. I feel like in some ways we are gaining a more refined definition of play in these recent chapters but I'm trying to make it make sense with some of Huizinga's claims and even Stenros' own "spirit of play." I guess both can exist simultaneously (as is common in play characteristics) I just think it is interesting that there seems to be a return to the aspects of play (and writing) that are physical/biological. Is this a tension that is just central to play? We've encountered about 60+ years of theories and all of them seem to share some of this tension.

Module 3: CULTURE, ETHNICITY AND PERSONALITY

PINOY PRIDE!! WOOO WOOO *AGILA NOISES*. Just kidding. Only did that in instinct due to this module’s topic. Our self can also be defined by our culture and the traditions of the society that we are born into. No man is an island and that statement is mainly applied in this topic as we explored how society can be a big factor in your journey to finding the self. I agree with that too, as who am I if not for the Batchoy that runs in my veins.

All this culture and identity talk made me suddenly think of this meme. This meme is funny because being Filipino feels like living life in hard mode sometimes. I mean, the recent elections were already tough as it is, there comes natural calamities soon after. I know that “resiliency” has been an overused description to describe us to the point of exploitation, but as I continue to go through this university, it’s a trait I’m willing to identify myself with. 

Well up until I graduate I guess, but that’s a thought for another time aha.

Also, sir made us talk about our cultural symbols and of course i had to sneak in my boy, Batchoy in that activity. It was love at first bite. God, I love being an Ilonggo for this 1 single reason.

Image 1 has complementary colors, yellow-green and red-violet, which is seen in the tennis balls and the word “five” in the design. The complementary colors work together to equally draw your eye to both. It find my self balancing my vision on both objects, and not primarily looking at one.

Image 2 shows analogous colors, which in this design are on the spectrum from light orange to dakr purple on the color wheel. The analogous colors fade into one another which works to help the viewer read the design from left to right, and have a smooth and calming transition while scanning the design. They are being used tohelp the viewer read the sign.

Image 3 shows an example which has cool colors, including light and dark purples as well as navy. I think the cool colors are trying to incicate a calmness or relaxinf vibe to the viewer/buyer. This makes sense for the brand being “calm” as many people associate these colors with calmness or sleep.

Image 4 is an example with predominantly warm colors, which are different shades of brown and orange. This is trying to communicate warmness and comfort to the viewer/buyer, and I think it has this effect due to fireplace which makes one feel nostalgic an happy.

Image 5 is an example which uses contrast in color to communicate an importance is the page. The colors used are red and green, and on the page the green is clearly associated with “good” and red “bad”. This contrast between colors and words is well known by society, so the design is clearly trying to enforoce this meaning through the colors. The colors separate the page, and show a lear line between sides.

Image 6 is an exmapke of the gestalt principle, closure. This is used the the number 2 in the lines the surround it.

Image 7 is a design example with an active figure-ground relationship, as you can see that the question mark is used as an outline for the face. Each part works together to make two different images.

Image 8 is an example of a design which tires to look like something historical. The design includes specific typefaces as well as graphics which represent an egyptican, ancient, or aztec vibe. This is purposely done in order to relate the product to this point in time, to make it more desirable and give it a specific brand.

Cyberbullying

My children in my home are thirteen, nine, seven and two, and I ask them all the time "how are they treated at school by kids and adults" I just want to make sure no ones being mean to them or mistreating them. Having my kids out of my sight or care while I'm at work is so freaking scary. You pray and just hope they are being taking care of at all times. You worry about the safety of your children, that just what happens when you become a parent.

It becomes more intense when you just don't have to worry about just traditional bullying, but you also have to worry about cyber bullying. Cyber bullying is here and is going to continue. The internet is a part of this generation and is here to stay.

Some people are wondering what the heck is cyber bullying, and yes, it is a form of bullying. And if you want to know more about cyber bullying, well lady and gentleman I'm here to share what it is.

Cyberbullying is bullying that takes place over digital devices like cell phones, computers, and tablets. Cyberbullying can occur through SMS, Text, and apps, or online in social media, forums, or gaming where people can view, participate in, or share content. Cyberbullying includes sending, posting, or sharing negative, harmful, false, or mean content about someone else. It can include sharing personal or private information about someone else causing embarrassment or humiliation. Some cyberbullying crosses the line into unlawful or criminal behavior.

The most common places where cyberbullying occurs are:

Social Media, such as Facebook, Instagram, Snapchat, and Tik Tok

Text messaging and messaging apps on mobile or tablet devices

Instant messaging, direct messaging, and online chatting over the internet

Online forums, chat rooms, and message boards, such as Reddit

Email

Online gaming communities

We as parents need to make sure we teach our children that bullying comes in various forms. The most common form of bullying is physical, verbal, emotional intimidation, racist, sexual, and the most common now cyber bullying. Your children need to know its ok to tell and adult if their being bullied. Bullying is not ok! My children are taught that they better not bully anyone, you treat others on how you want to be treated.

so murderbot assumes that three offered its armor because it doesn't understand that the armor can belong to it and thinks mb taking the armor is just good resource allocation.

but if it assumes it doesnt have control over the armor, it would probably let whoever it sees as in charge (maybe ART?) handle it, or at least make the suggestion directly to that person. even newly freed in NE, it's willing to give its security advice (on hostage situations being undesirable) even if it doesn't expect to be taken seriously. it doesn't make sense to me that it would have so much trouble expressing the offer if it were just a security suggestion.

and then i think about how murderbot says later in the book that even if three felt fondly toward its fellow SecUnits, the govmod would prevent it from expressing that care or knowing it was returned.

so-- imagine you're three, and you havent yet internalized that you can just say "i care about you and dont want you to get hurt" to another SecUnit; but you can make sure that it has every resource it might need; you could probably do that even before the govmod was hacked.

you can't explain why, but you can hope that the gesture is explanation enough, and you can look for similar caretaking gestures in return; things like being given code and advice to do your job better, and being reassured when you express that you're finding said job difficult.

i think *murderbot* isn't aware of this language of care, because it hasnt had much opportunity to bond with other constructs. but three probably is, and probably knows how to read between the lines and guess that murderbot is starting to care about it, too.
