Travis *jokingly*: “Yeah but what about Molaesmyr?”
Matt: “That shook—that caught him off guard, man."
travis hits ludinus's sore spot in both campaigns

'Into Molaesmyr'
After journeying down the river, they finally reach the city reclaimed by a wretched dark nature. Deep into the streets the Hells see a beast with an abominable form...

I find it SO interesting that Ludinus is using this memory of Aeor's fall to try and sway the Hells but the minute they ask him about Molaesmyr he's like....yeah that was my bad. The Gods destroying a city in their darkest moment vs This Guy destroying a city for "first of many experiments" to crack open the moon like an egg. LIKE BRO how do you say the gods are evil for their actions but try to explain away your own - the hypocrisy on this slimy motherfucker

What if the disaster that struck Pravenier is connected to the destruction of Molaesmyr?
Hear me out, both incidents happened several hundreds of years back. Though the exact timeframe of Pravenier is unknown. Pravenier was destroyed by a mass poisoning event and Molaesmyr was destroyed by poisonous fumes (miasma) which killed and corrupted anything it came in touch with.
In Chet’s vision, he got the sense that the poison came from something settling within the water supply of the entire area. The corruption in Molaesmyr came from beneath the city as the crystal was in the base of Caes Mosor.
Is it possible that where the Amethyst Gulch lies on the planes, it lines up with Molaesmyr in the Material Plane? And the poison that settle into the water was the miasma from Molaesmyr. Because when Ludinus tried to do the communion, it was during an apogee solstice. Which means the ley lines were screwy so he could try and reach Ruidus. But also on the flip side, ley lines aren’t just one way doors. They can spill into many different places.
Also the idea of needing to close a communion is something we see in many other sorts of summoning entities rituals. We know Ludinus makes it out of Molaesmyr somehow (despite all things considered as wouldn’t he have been at the very epicenter of the miasma?) Which implies he had to have bailed quickly to not get fucked up at the very least if not die. So what if the communion was left open? And the same poison that destroyed Molaesmyr spilled through to other places. Places like Pravenier, which seemed to have a similar temple to the Archheart. And the crystal that Ludinus used was theorized to have some kind of connection to them.
It certainly could be nothing but I just got strong Molaesmyr parallels from this place!

Nightmare Elk, Nightmare Elk, Nightmare El—
I need this friend-shaped sleipnir to somehow track down the party so that we may see it again
Also Molaesmyr Elk and Aeor Anglerfish Baby deserve to hang out sometime
Image ID Below 🦌🦵🦵
[Image ID: Greyscale sketch of a giant mutated elk with eight legs and a featureless face. On the right is a close-up sketch of its head. The left sketch shows the side view of a tall elk with 8 narrow legs, a blank face, and irregularly long, tangled antlers stretching above its head. Protruding from its shoulders are two extremely long, thin, humanoid arms with skin colored black past the elbow. The arms bend at the elbow above the elk’s head then come down to drag on the ground behind the elk. Faint light highlights the elk’s limbs and featureless face.
The close-up sketch shows the elk standing amongst dark trees. It’s body is facing the side but it’s head is turned to the viewer with ears and antlers fanning out. The shoulder of one humanoid arm can be seen behind a tree. The shape of its head is normal enough, but other than a bit of fur and a faint contour where the eyes should be, the face is smooth and featureless. It has no eyes, nose, or mouth. But the elk knows exactly where the viewer is.
Text below the close-up reads “CR Ep.56 Molaesmyr” and the watermark on this piece reads “@Threadcountart” and “Do not edit/post/trace” End ID]

My brain is desperately trying to piece together the gifted tree from Avalir, the only remnant of Exandrian terrestrial growth, that Aeor has neglected, with the dead forest that Jester Fire Stormed in the ruins, and the corruption in Molaesmyr. Especially now we’ve seen Asha express… pity? To the tree in Downfall, and Caduceus being so disgusted with the forest in the ruins, happy to let something technically belonging to the Wildmother get blown up. Was the forest just another messed up experiment, or is something even more fucked up going to happen in Downfall Part 3?
Tldr Molaesmyr and whatever the fuck is going on there is my Roman Empire…

The animals in the Savalirwood are lacking facial features they would normally have. Eyes, mouths, noses… Matt also deliberately pointed out (again) the creature Imogen summoned (probably a reilora but not actually confirmed) also lacked facial features. It had glowing spots representing its eyes but didn’t actually have eyes or a mouth or nose or anything like that.
What if the corruption of Molaesmyr and the Savalirwood is directly from Ruidus? Whatever continent that was turned into Ruidus and all those people on it have obviously been corrupted in some way and that rot has been fine tuned for centuries. If Ludinus tried to release Predathos while in Molaesmyr, what if instead of an insanely powerful dispel magic beam being shot into the moon, it backfired. Quite literally. What if the moon (or the magical gate around the moon) fired back essentially a nuke full of the same corruption already on Ruidus back into Molaesmyr, either by design or wild magic or whatever.
What if this corruption is a godly creation and was used in the destruction of Aeor? Was it created by a prime deity? Or a betrayed god? Or more than one? Hmmmmmmmmmm.
