So Steve leaves home after the earthquakes to be closer to everyone. He ends up living with the Hopper-Byers so they can all drive together wherever help is most needed. Eventually, Hopper kind of forgets Steve isn't one of theirs. He just fits, in a way that is both improbable and surprising to no one.

That is to say, Robin is around the Hopper-Byers a lot. Like, nearly as around them as Steve, who has moved into the spare room.

When the Beemer pulls up and he hears Robin's voice through the front door before she even gets out of the car, he pours himself another cup of coffee out of the gone-cold carafe.

He can hear their conversation better as they come in and clamber around in the entry, shucking shoes and jackets.

"But it's like, post-apocalyptic! Doesn't that make it cool?"

"Nothing makes it cool. It's Hawkins High."

"Post-apocalyptic Hawkins High."

"It really doesn't count if the school was literally 100% untouched."

"Think about the stories you can tell your kids," Steve insists. "Prom at the end of the world."

"One, the world didn't end. Two, it's not 'at the end of the world' if it's an entire year later and they've had plenty of time to clean up."

They round the corner into the kitchen and spot Hopper standing at the counter.

Robin blinks, but Steve sails by him to grab a cupcake from the refrigerator.

"They're carrot, you want one?"

She does. She and Steve peel the wrappers nearly in sync and when they shoot for the trashcan, both of them miss.

Hopper clears his throat and says, "No prom then, for you two?"

They glance at each other and Steve quickly swallows to say, "Who says I'd go with her?" like Hopper had suggested he take the Loch Ness Monster to the school dance.

Robin squawks around a mouthful. "You wouldn't go with me?" she manages to say.

And Hopper just raises an eyebrow. "In my day, boyfriends and girlfriends went together to that kind of thing."

They both seem to realize something at the same time and they rush to correct him.

"No, Hopper, I can't believe you don't know--"

"Chief Hopper, with all due respect, I would rather eat glass."

He takes a long drink from his mug.

"So you're just over here all hours of the day and night because…"

"We're best friends. Like, soulmate level."

"She's my platonic soulmate, it's a thing."

"You two are 'a thing.'" Hopper hums. "I know what that means."

Steve rolls his eyes and Robin considers him seriously.

"If we're an item, I want it on the record that you never even asked me out."

Hopper nods. "It's disrespectful, son."

Steve glares at them both in turn while he slowly drops to one knee.

"Robin, will you be my girlthing?"

She puts on a convincing display of outrage. "No!" she says. "Apparently I've been your girlthing this entire time. You've been taking advantage of my feminine virtues or something probably."

"I would never!"

"Some boything you turned out to be." She puts her nose in the air which must be some kind of cue for Steve, who grabs at one of her hands like a lifeline and places a kiss to the back of it. She abruptly drops her regal poise to smack him across the shoulders and say, "Did you really fucking lick me? Are you twelve?"

Hopper downs the last of the awful, chilly coffee in his mug and retreats.

Tentacles and Glasses has reached its conclusion! I will definitely be telling more stories in my little Monster Prom AU, but the primary story for the human and his trans Eldritch girlfriend is in the books! (Or online Fanfiction archive I suppose…)

(There may be more tweaks to the fic later, after I’ve had some time for it to settle and I reread it.)

I will likely include the two in what I’m calling “Specials” little scenarios for the two. The next major entry will be a prequel about how Vicky and Vera got together in the AU!

Working title is “Snakes and Bolts” (I’m so creative guys…)

I have some ideas of a sequel in mind, which have to do with the story’s ending, but that is probably a long ways away!

Thanks for anyone who has read for being part of the journey that put me back into writing fanfiction. It’s been so fun to put my creative energy into something again.

Monster Prom 4: Monster Con is apparently heading back to basics, with players trying to find love at the nerdiest convention ever, either solo or with friends in multiplayer. So expect many jokes revolving around anime, gaming, comics and more, along with even more colorful characters the franchise is known for, with new mechanics like being able to build your own comic book along the way, as well as some subtle tweaks to elements like the character portraits.

Sam Wayne is a possessive stalker of a ghost who reeks of rotting meat and leaves puddles of yellow, bloody pus wherever he stands too long. He has alluded to wanting the PC to only ever be with him and that their relationships with any of the other characters are meaningless in comparison to the one they "share". Is always watching the PC and disregards their constant requests to stop, including while they sleep and shower. Regards any decision they make that does align with his own as "very foolish". And even though it was when he was actually still alive....Wayne is TECHNICALLY your cousin Tabitha's ex and she gets really upset if you ask her permission to date her undead "sloppy seconds" lol

She is a terrible person. She's constantly acting like she is the absolute best person ever. She talks about how she's saving the world and oh poor her she can never rest. But literally everyone tries to get her to take a break and she absolutely refuses. She will make up emergencies so that people will pay attention to her. She is constantly talking about the fact that she's the leader of the Coven and the star of her show. And acts like she's the best thing to ever happen to the universe. She can't do anything wrong. Except the fact that she canonically dates exclusively villains and gets off on beating them up and then sleeping with them. She has also cheated on at least one of her exes (can't remember if there were more) and she just refuses to accept responsibility for the fact that she wrecked his life. Everything is about her. You can't have anything. And let's not forget that she's constantly talking down to the player character like they're an absolute idiot. She doesn't deserve your love. She doesn't deserve your time. The only thing she deserves is to win this poll.

She's convinced that she's the main character and that everything that happens has to do with her. You find out that she's cheated on all of her past partners and doesn't care that it hurt them.

shes actually one of the more normal and reasonable dateable people in her entire franchise! she doesnt murder people for the hell of it every day, she doesnt actively advocate for the genocide of an entire race, she doesnt constantly scam vulnerable people out of their money and run criminal gangs!! yes, she has flaws like being a workaholic and self centered, yes she has bad taste if you look at her former love interests, but at least by the time of monster camp she is trying to work through Some of these issues! (and hell, most characters in this franchise in the later entries try to become better people while still being exaggerated, over the top characters, just look at polly!)

Gonna put a read more because I KNOW I will make this far longer than it has to be:

Part of my list is kinda cheating, but whatever.

I've got all five Strong Bad's Cool Game for Attractive People games (I think that makes me attractive?) and I've only ever finished the first two or three, so at least I know how long they generally take.

Undertale and Psyro 1, I know backwards and forwards, so I know that I can do them in under a day. I've got Spyro 2 and 3 there as well, but I'm fairly sure they take longer since they're slightly more complicated than 1. Ah, well.

Then, there's a few Steam entries. There Is No Game: Wrong Dimension, Papers Please, The Stanley Parable, Long Live The Queen, Hatoful Boyfriend, Monster Prom, Monster Camp and Dude, Stop. I plan on not using any guides for any of these, so this should be interesting. (I'm maybe gonna count any ending in LLTQ as a win, otherwise that's gonna be a lot of trial and error and time lost.)

Pokemon Snap, I know I can take out quickly. Digimon Rumble Arena 1 and 2, I probably can. (I'm counting unlocking all characters as completed.) Same with Super Smash Bros, which I've in fact never played, so that's gonna be a fun time to find out.

Portal 1 is probably one I can do in under a day? Who knows! I'll find out! Definitely not Portal 2, so that's right out.

I've got LeafGreen on there, since I know that's generally recommended as one of the easier Pokemon games, but I'm thinking that one of the newer ones with Exp Share might be quicker. I'm not doing a challenge run or anything, so fuck it!

Now, this one is cheating. I'm counting Deltarune Chapter 1 and 2 as two seperate games, on the basis that they were released at different times. That counts, right?

I put Oregon Trail on the list, because fuck it, why not. And then, Organ Trail??? Spore is probably pretty beatable, considering how unfinished it ended up being. And then, I've got some old DS game called My Little Pony: Pinkie Pie's Party. (Not the FiM generation, sadly.)

I'm planning on having some friends over to play some Jackbox games on my actual birthday, so I guess this is my fucking #theme. That's cool.

So. I've got a particular milestone birthday coming up in just under a month. Had a thought tonight, what if I tried to beat 30 games before then? Thematically appropriate, definitely my kind of thing, sounds like a blast, and I'm unemployed, so free time!

I'd like to keep my progress tracked on here, because why not? If anybody has any recs for games that can be theoretically beaten in under a day, let me know! I've managed to scrounge up exactly 30 games that I'm reasonably confident that I could squeeze in, like Spyro 1 and Undertale. Most of them are games on Steam, which means that I can take screenshots easily.

(I considered putting Heavy Rain on the list, since I know I could power through it, but A: it's not super feasible to hook the PS4 up to the laptop right now, and B: No.)

Callista comes from a noble Faerie family of shapeshifters who forced her to attend the incredibly dull prestigious Ivy Grove Boarding School for extensive education in Faewood’s history and etiquette. But who wants to sit around making floral arrangements and courting nobles for the sake of political alliances when there are epic parties to throw and hot monsters to date?!  

Bored out of her mind, Calli dyed a doe blue and left it in her dorm room as a decoy before escaping into the night. She enrolled herself at the infamously chaotic Spooky High, determined her last year of high school will be the best ever!

Calli very quickly became the de-facto party planner for any event because she does nothing by halves. She is the driving force behind the Prom Committee and her Recess Raves are the stuff of legend! She hopes the experiences and connections she makes at Spooky High will provide a spring-board into professional party/event planning after graduation. Maybe all those courtly networking classes paid off after all...

Sebastian is the only son and youngest of six full siblings and 16 half siblings from his parent’s prior relationships. Apparently 200 year old vampires get around quite a bit? Sebastian has inherited their vampirism and thinks he’s holding up well under the tremendous amounts of pressure his parents put on him as their only son together. The result is a goal oriented, confident, overachieving student body president who is definitely on the tsundere end of bisexual disaster. If it is schoolwork or student council he knows exactly what he’s doing, but romance? not a chance! And definitely don’t ask about the Incident with the Unicorn Treasurer (made by @prismaticpotentia) who he definitely did NOT date... ever.

Crystallian Equus for @bumblingbunny's Monster Prom!

Crystaliian "Lian" Equus is the first born and only son of the Equus family, heir to their vast fortune and business empire. He has two younger sisters, Snowdrop and Wisteria, and his parents are always working, leaving them in the care of the staff by and large.

Lian has been expected his entire life to take over the family business, but his first love is gardening, the outdoors, and quiet. While academically driven and physically very active, being on the cheer team and student body treasurer, his dream is to move to the country and live off the land, maybe run his own flower shop.

While bisexual, he's been crushing on Nola since 6th grade. While at the time he didn't recognize the feeling, mistaking his crush for hatred. This lead to him writing Nola an anonymous note in pink, strawberry-scented glitterpen that just read "Get out of my school."

Lian has since grown up enough to recognize what a crush is, and slowly come to terms with being pansexual. He's had a few relationships across genders and sexualities, but nothing long-term. He has no knowledge of any relationship with any vampire student body presidents, and anyone who says he did is a liar and slanderer.

Alarschat-aal, or Ally as she is currently preferred to be called, is an ancient eldritch being that has enrolled at the school for reasons only she knows. That’s really not saying a lot, though. She... or they... or It? is unknowable. Why so many teeth when she doesn’t necessarily need to eat? Why so many arms when she barely lifts a finger for herself? Why does she own so many sweatshirts??? 

But you know what we DO know? She has a fondness for flowers and especially receiving well-made bouquets. She constantly tries to get the lead in the school play though it hasn’t happened quite yet. She is a RAGING gossip and tries to keep on top of everything going on in the school.
