Tarquin twisted his cuffs, watching the doors open as Thesan stepped up the stairs. He shoved the visceral thoughts away, how she shouldn't leave. How she looked right in his halls.
He smiled, offering his arm for her. She took it, frowning at the halls.
"Weren't you attacked?"
"Gareth's Den works fast, we're fine."
She turned to him, he stilled in the archway. He turned away from her searching gaze.
"Tarquin are you -"
"Did Rhysand speak of this Hybern threat with you?"
She stiffened and he used the movement to guide her into the atrium. Chairs stood in a semi circle, a small table of food stood to the side. He dropped his arm, watching her turn to the room.
She titled her head back at him, the jewels in her hair twinkling.
"Am I early or late? And Rhysand didn't. But Hybern is always a threat."
She walked to the table, inspecting the desserts. He tried not to think that most of the desserts on the table were her favorites.
It warmed his heart that he wasn't the only one who adored her.
He walked to her, leaning against the pillar watching her take the desserts in. Her cheeks were pink as she looked to him.
"I shouldn't right? The others would want some."
He bit hard on the words. It was all for her, everything he did and breathed was for her.
He nodded to the desserts.
"Take what you wish, the cooks can always make more. And perhaps I gave Varian an earlier time."
She shook her head, popping a salted chocolate into her mouth. His eyes lingered on her fingers, on the ring.
He turned away, the memory suffocating at the moment.
"Run away with me Tarquin, marry me. What can they do to stop us?"
War. They could go to war. Autumn and Winter wouldn't allow it no matter how friendly they were with both their courts.
Would Day or the others stand by them? It was a threat to Alusina's consolidated power.
Would it have been different if one of them didn't have the Heir Marks?
//post the attack on Summer! Remus and Feyre filled Tarquin in!!//
“You have no idea how hard it is to hear you say that.” His voice was tinged with sadness, his eyes lingering upon her as he wanted to do nothing but submit to her request. Run away, run and never look back. Yet the cost, the consequences. There was no guarantee that anyone would support them, even if they had family and ties.
Could they risk their courts? Each other? He did not want her to live on the run, never to really know what it felt to just settle down and enjoy her life. Tarquin shook his head, swallowing slightly as his voice sounded strained when he spoke. “You deserve better than running away and getting married, you deserve more than what I can offer. The blood that will be shed if we do.”
Yet he wanted to, he wanted to so much and fuck them all. But it wouldn’t be the life she deserved.

AN: I just got this request and I absolutely LOVE it. I have no idea how many parts it will be because it's really parking my imagination. Please feel free to leave a comment! Hearing your guy's feedback is what motivates me to write!
Summary: It was almost as if the cauldron liked to play games, as if it had sensed years of boredom and predictability and begged to be entertained. Its method of absolving its melancholy? Mate the High Lord of the Night Court to the younger sister of the High Lord of Spring.

It was like being born, even though I was the ripe age of 435. Well, ripe in the years of fae. It felt like being born, in the sense that I can’t really remember what came before that passing shade of violet. The way his eyes bore into me, and in that moment I knew he felt the tug too.
Mates.
I reeled for days, the peonies of spring my only console, my brother had always been so absent minded and utterly consumed with being High Lord. How could the cauldron be so cruel? To mate me to the High Lord of the Night. I spent the next week thinking it had to be a mistake, that my bored mind was playing tricks on me. Yet when the council met the week following, his eyes found me immediately, and I think in that moment I saw him for the very first time.
I didn’t dare approach him, far too shy and afraid to approach the Lord of Night. Not just  because of what he was, but because of what my brother would say. By basic necessity Tamilin was a good brother, he doted upon me, kept me safe, gave me free roam of the palace. But there was a darkness about him I couldn’t place. It started when he disappeared with our father one night only to come back with two sets of Illyrian wings. I knew whatever happened was wrong, but as a woman in the spring court, I knew better than to open my mouth. Needless to say, Tamlin became High Lord of Spring shortly after, and from the wings mounted on our family walls I knew we had but one enemy, the night court.
It wasn’t until the third council meeting (the third I was allowed to attend, after I begged my brother to let me go) that the High Lord of Night finally sought me out.
My brother was busying himself with the politics of Day and Summer, talking the heads off of Helion and Tarquin. I kept to the shadows naturally, avoiding any untoward advances from other High Lords. I tried to stay hidden in my pocket of introvertedness, but then I felt him, and my skin buzzed, like it needed to be touched, to be held.
“You felt it too right?” he purred into the shell of my ear causing the buzzing of my skin to become electric.
“I did,” I admit pathetically.
“And you feel it now too,” he whispers as I finally turn to face him. The violet of his eyes pierce my soul and I’m left speechless and unable to move from their gaze. He’s otherworldly, he’s everything, and he’s also completely forbidden.
“Do you?” I ask, hoping that whatever answer he gives can validate the fire in my bones.
“I do,” he muses like he loves the game. “Your brother killed my family. He is my sworn enemy and I should hate you.” he breathes. I can feel his resolve slipping along with mine, for every statement he makes I can make an opposing one, “but all I want to do is kiss you right now.” he finishes.
Fire runs through my veins as a sharp breath passes my lips. I feel my brother's presence and I evade myself from the High Lord of Night’s cage. My brother whisks me off to the Spring Court once more, but not before I glance back one last time to see that shade of violet I had already learned to look for in a crowd.
That was a week ago.
I stand in the foyer of the castle with my brother and Lucien as we prepare to join the council once again this week.
“You look ravishing as always,” Lucien muses, eyes wandering me like they’re hungry.
“It’s not often my brother lets me out of the house, I have to make a good impression somehow,” I say backhandedly. All I get in return is a sideways glance from Tamiln as we are taken to court. Today the meeting  resides in Tarquins’s court. It changes once a week to allow all High Lord’s to have the upper hand. The sea salted mist hits my face and the warm rays of the sun tan my skin as we walk into the council.
When we arrive he’s already there. He stands out amongst the rest, not just because he’s dressed in black, but because he’s the most beautiful male I’ve ever seen. The definition of a forbidden fruit. As if to tempt me, Tamilin unknowingly  sits directly across from the High Lord of Night making it so I can’t lift my head without meeting the violet of his eyes. If you had asked me to recall the events the council discussed, I couldn’t, the only word left on my tongue was Night. Talk of tithes and power checks drifted over my head. The only thing to rouse me from my trance was the scraping of wooden chairs across marble floors, signaling that the council meeting had adjourned and that the more foundational political talks of High Lords would begin.
I took it as my queue to step out onto one of the many terraces of the Summer Court. The room where the council was held was stifling. I thought that the breeze of the ocean might cool my skin, but no matter where I went that deafening heat followed.
“I was hoping I would see you again,” purred a voice from behind me.
I turned to find that piercing violet once more. “Of course why wouldn’t I be at the council meetings?” I ask, trying to act like I won’t be replaying this conversation in my mind when I return to bed tonight.
“You’ve only been to four council meetings now, and your brother has a habit of keeping you locked up in the Spring Court.” he trails, drawing closer to the railing of which I’m leaning upon.
“Well I intend to be at all of them from here on out,” I state.
“Any particular reason why?” he asks with a playful tone in his voice and I know what he’s insinuating.
“Because I wish to be a part of the governing of my court, even though I am just a woman,” I say, evading his innuendo.
“That’s a shame if you were part of my court you wouldn’t have such phrases like ‘just a woman’” he states almost as if he’s upset with the phrase.
“I highly doubt that, women aren’t equals in any court,” I scoff.
“What about Kallias and Viviane?” he asks.
“What about them?”
“Kallias sees Viviane as his equal, she is his mate and his High Lady,” he explains, stepping even closer to me, close enough that my skin starts to buzz again.
“Viviane is special, everyone knows that,” I justify.
“And you’re not?” he muses and my skin goes from buzzing to electrifying in three words. I feel his fingertips grazing my hand as if asking for permission.
“My Lord we can’t do this,” I breathe out.
“Call me Rhysand,” he says, stepping even closer.
I step to the side, avoiding his advances, “My Lord, I won’t do this, I can’t do this.” I affirm.
I see him bristle from my reluctance to call him by his name, “You’ll give into the idea of us. When you’re lying in that cold bed high up in the spring court thinking of all the ways I could warm it for you. When you’ve spent the week with nothing but this conversation on your mind,” he leans down to whisper in my ear. “This time next week you will beg for me to touch you, and I’ll happily oblige, mate.”
I’m so taken aback by his words that I can’t even form a quick witted response, I simply slid away and tried my best not to look back at him as I felt his gaze pierce my back. I nearly slam into Viviane and Kallias.
“Y/n are you alright?” Viviane asks.
“Yes, just feeling the heat of the summer court,” I lie, fanning my face.
“Then you should come home with us today, it’s been so long since we had a girls night. I wish for your company." She smiles while taking my hand.
“Shall we go home sister?” Tamilin appears, Lucien in tow.
“Actually I think I’ll spend the night in the winter court with Viviane, she’s right,” I look at her and smile. “We haven’t had a girls night in quite a long time.”
“Very well, I won’t get in the way of your sinful gossiping,” Tamilin smiles and leads Lucien away with him.
If the summer court is sea salt and sun, then the winter court is pine and fresh fallen snow. Though they are opposites in every way, they are stunning in their own right, like all courts are. I’ve been here many times before to sit and talk with Viviane, she’s one of the only other ladies of nobility my age and a fierce friend. It’s not uncommon for me to spend a couple days here in the winter court, with Viviane and Kallias.
I sit among a bed of furs near a warm fire adjacent to Viviane as Kallias pours both me and his mate a glass of red wine.
“Thank you dear,” she smiles, kissing him on the cheek before he leaves us to gossip.
“You and Kallias really are a perfect match,” I beam and Vivianane knows me well enough to know that there's a sadness there.
“You’ll find it too someday, your mate. I know you will,” she assures me. “Now tell me, what of Lucien?”
I roll my eyes taking a sip of my wine, “He’s still insufferable. The other day he backed me into a wall and if one of my ladies maids hadn’t walked in I swore he would’ve had his way with me.”
She lets out an airy laugh, “I still can’t believe Tamiln allows him to play with you like that. He’s so fiercely protective of you with everyone else.” she says, taking a sip of her own wine.
“Lucien is his best friend, he wouldn’t deny him anything, even his little sister.” I point out.
“I suppose you’re right,” she smirks. The night is filled with goblets of wine and laughter as we continue to talk about the high lords of Prythian. We even go as far as to talk about her and Kallais’ sex lives, to which Kallias promptly came in laughing taking his wife to bed.
I trudge down the hall to the bedroom the High Lord and Lady had set aside just for me a few years ago. I fall into the plush mattress, the world slightly spinning around me. The second I am left alone with my thoughts I recall the feeling of Rhysand’s breath on my neck and I shiver.
The room spins and I feel my skin grow hot with need, my heart beats faster and my  head is drunk with that shade of violet. My hand subconsciously drifts down my body.
You’re drunk? A voice cuts through my head.
I sit up right and look around the room. The only thing I find is the flickering of the fireplace against the walls.
The same voice chuckles and speaks again, No I am not in the room with you my mate.
“How are you doing this?” I ask in my head.
The daemati gift, and of course, I am your mate. The High Lord croons.
“Get out of my head” I grumble.
But you called for me, I can feel your… excitement.
“Then you're mistaken,” I hiss.
We both know that’s not true darling.
“Goodnight,” I groan, rolling over to go to bed.
Goodnight, darling
The following days are long. Despite my better wishes there is a part of me that yearns to see the High Lord of Night again. I waltz through the spring court, picking flowers for the dinner table and evading Lucien’s advances. At night I find myself obsessively reading the romance novels I keep beside my bed. On one night in particular a certain scene in my book makes my toes curl and my thighs clench. My fingers skim the pages and the roughness of them is almost heightened.
My my my, what a dirty book. That voice croons into my mind.
“Get out of my head,” I gripe.
I can’t help myself when I feel your body react as it does. He purrs.
“How on earth can you ‘feel’ my body?” I roll my eyes.
Like this.
A tug reverberates through my body. Like there’s a string in the pit of my stomach that he just pulled. The sensation causes me to lose a breath as further arousal goes to my legs. He lets out a dark chuckle.
“Don’t ever do that again,” I order him
But you loved it so much, He purrs and I can practically feel him smirking in my head.
“You’re an insufferable bastard High Lord,” I growl at his persistence.
Call me Rhysand.
“I see no reason to drop informalities, my lord.” I quip back.
My name will fall from your lips one day, and when it does I’ll be sure to swallow it with my own. Until then, I’ll leave you with this. Goodnight darling.
I feel another tug at the bond reverberating through me and I nearly let out a moan at the feeling. I snuggle into my sheets that suddenly feel as if they are constricting around my body. I toss and turn and try to push all thoughts from my mind, but I can’t stop the idea of the High Lord's lips on mine. His night black hair in my hands, the way his moans might fall from those lips.
The next morning I take my breakfast in one of the lounge areas, still reeling from last night. My thoughts still wander to the image of his face, and how his eyes light me on fire. The door opens and a head of auburn hair pokes in.
“Forgive me, I didn’t know you were in here,” Lucien says like he has regret, yet he sits down across from me.
“No worries, I'm almost finished eating,” I reply, placing my tea down and getting ready to get up..
“And I secretly hoped to spend some time with you,” he sighs, sinking into the couch.
“Perhaps later, I wanted to read in the garden,” I stand and make my way towards the door.
“Perhaps now,” he growls. I feel a cold hand grasp my arm hauling me into the wall.
“Lucien,” I hiss as my back is pressed into the wall, his frame looming over mine.
“You are such a tease,” he smirks before kissing my neck hungrilly. His hands roam my body pulling me impossibly close.
“I’ve never once given you any inclination that I wanted you,” I gripe at him.
“That’s what makes you so desirable my dear,” he practically moans into my neck.
I gather my strength and push him off of me, “I’ll remind you that I am Tamlin’s little sister and while he favors you his favor only goes so far. One word from me and he’ll send you back to the Autumn Court.” I growl at him, and it seems to be enough as he backs away and leaves me to reel from what just happened in silence.
I sit down on the couch and take deep breaths to ground myself.
What’s going on? Are you alright? That voice like glorious night cuts through my mind and I almost feel thankful for how it brings me back to reality.
“Yes I’m fine,” I say back.
What happened? I felt your fear through the bond.
“It’s nothing, just Lucien.” I dismiss him.
Did he touch you?
I almost swore I heard anger laced in his voice. “Well I am his favorite plaything,” I roll my eyes.
And Tamlin allows him to touch you like this?
“As long as my virtue isn’t completely compromised so that I am still of value when he inevitably marries me off, yes. He doesn’t care.” I divulge, and quite stupidly I realize.
As if I needed another reason to hate him.
“He is still my brother, my Lord,” I remind him, though I secretly feel the same.
Don’t you mean, Rhysand?
“No I don’t, my Lord,” I say, drawing out the last words.
I’ll see you tomorrow my darling, I relish the idea of seeing you in the golden light of the day court.

Summer Court
As the gentle sea breeze caressed your face, the soothing sound of waves crashing against the shore enveloped your senses. With eyes closed, you allowed yourself to be immersed in the tranquillity of the ocean, feeling a sense of home wash over you.
You missed the ocean, Dawn’s cities weren’t on the coast. Mainly inland, with dense red roofed buildings. Often you would take trips to visit the shoreline, get closer to that salty air that spoke sweet whispers to you. You wondered why your family hadn’t chosen Summer over Dawn, given your heritage. No, instead your family had settled hundreds of years ago within the walls of Dawn. Still, a beautiful choice.
Suddenly, a presence appeared beside you, you could sense and smell him without needing to open your eyes. Perhaps it was the way he smelt of the ocean too that made him so familiar. Tarquin stood beside you, his figure outlined against the backdrop of the sparkling sea. His dark skin seemed to glow in the sunlight, and his hair, a striking silver-white, caught the light as it cascaded around his shoulders.
"I thought I could sense it, you are a child of the sea," Tarquin remarked, a warm smile gracing his features as he finally acknowledged something he had sensed in your earlier meeting.
"That is somewhat true," you mused, gaze still fixed on the vast expanse of ocean before you. Your kinship with the sea was a connection that ran deep.
"It explains why I felt so comfortable around you," Tarquin continued, his smile widening as he spoke. You knew of his abilities, his affinity for water manipulation.
“Like calls to like” You smiled softly.
You liked the Summer Court. You had made that assumption when you first met Tarquin, and it rang true during your first visit. Adriata exuded a serene beauty, even in the aftermath of conflict. The azure rooftops contrasted elegantly against the pristine white stone, glistening like pearls under the sun's warm embrace. The air was fresh with the lick of the ocean, and its residents were all sun kissed by that glorious beacon in the sky.
Eager to immerse yourself fully in the Summer Court ambiance, you had opted for a slight change of attire, trading your previous garments from the Court meeting for something light, airy, typical of the Summer Court. Your tunic which had been adorned with threaded court symbols was now replaced with a white shirt that still held the motifs on the fabric. Flowing white trousers gracefully pooled around your feet, allowing the gentle sea breeze to caress your skin, providing a welcome respite from the sun's rays.
Tarquin had graciously arranged for your accommodation within the palace, situating your quarters conveniently close to Cressida, with whom you had been working closely with during your brief stay. Together with Tarquin and the royal siblings, you convened in a secluded office to address the concerns voiced by the Summer Court's inhabitants.
The submitted requests predominantly revolved around the loss of homes, the devastation caused by the war, and the collective hope for recovery and resilience. Pooling your collective knowledge and resources, the four of you meticulously strategize the most effective measures to support and uplift the people of the Summer.
However, you understood that true healing would require patience and perseverance. Perhaps what the people of Prythian needed most was to feel heard and understood on a larger scale, with you and Lucien as their appointed emissaries serving as their advocates.
Spending the majority of the second day immersing yourself in the community of Adriata, you couldn't ignore the overall feeling of sadness. The lingering scars of war still cast a shadow over the court, underscoring the urgent need to rebuild and restore a sense of security and happiness among its residents.
Despite their resilience, Adriata seemed to have borne the brunt of the conflict, second perhaps only to the turmoil in Tamlin's court. You were determined to offer whatever assistance you could, recognising the challenges they faced in comparison to other courts.
Your efforts to connect with the townspeople were met with initial hesitation, yet you sensed a glimmer of kinship, perhaps they could tell you were one of the same like Tarquin recognised. It only took a few hours before you had residents crying on your shoulder and children running around your feet, tugging you left and right begging for you to prioritise rebuilding a park that had been destroyed.
The weight of your role as emissary of peace became increasingly apparent. You weren’t just an Emissary of peace, but you were the emissary of the people– something that felt heavier in weight. A weight you were happy to shoulder.
You could feel it in your chest, that pride that seemed to swell at your newfound duty. Realising how you could make an impact.
And so you promised to yourself, and silently towards the vast ocean that you would always listen to those who sought out your help.
"Your people seem somewhat deflated," you observed, your voice carrying a touch of empathy as you turned your gaze back to Tarquin. "Your court, your palace, your people... they've endured so much loss."
Tarquin nodded solemnly, "Yes, the scars of war run deep," he agreed, his eyes scanning the horizon as if searching for hope. "But we are resilient, and with the support of the likes of you, I believe we can rebuild and thrive once more."
You offered him a reassuring smile, your confidence bolstered. "It's a priority to restore not just the physical aspects of your court, but also the spirit of your people," you affirmed, your voice brimming with conviction. "To ensure they not only feel safe but also find happiness in their home once again."
You understood the importance of nurturing the well-being of those under your care, of bringing light to the darkest corners and hope to weary hearts. "...With our collective efforts, I have no doubt that we can return Summer to all its glory," you declared, your words infused with determination.
You couldn’t help the smile that stretched across your lips. Every word you spoke you truly believed.
Tarquin's gaze softened as he met your eyes, a flicker of admiration dancing in his gaze. "Your optimism is contagious," he remarked, a hint of appreciation colouring his tone. "It's refreshing to have someone like you by my side, someone who sees the potential for greatness even in our darkest moments."
“A flame will always appear brighter in the shadows…” you mused.
With that, the two of you exchanged a meaningful look, a silent vow passing between you.
༄
Night Court
You arrived at River House promptly, noting the late morning meeting time with an understanding that it was typical for the Night Court. Unlike the bustling activity you were accustomed to at Dawn, Velaris seemed eerily quiet during those early hours. You had always risen with the sun, risen at dawn. It seemed your body clock may have to change during your visits here. As you prowled through the streets, hoping to connect with some of its residents, you found them few and far between. A handful of market owners setting up stalls offered brief introductions, but for the most part, the city felt deserted, as if it were a ghost town.
Welcomed into the grand foyer by a member of staff, you waited calmly, your gaze sweeping over the opulent surroundings. Your eyes lingered on the large circular table at the centre of the room, with a large display of flowers in the middle. You gently leaned forward, eyes closing as you inhaled the sweet scent before taking in the rest of the room. The twin curved staircases that ascended gracefully upwards, adorned with paintings of the inner circle on the walls.
Cute. You mused.
You knew of Feyre’s affinity for art and painting, Lucien had filled you in and you’d done your own research too. You would not be coming into this setting blind.
Your eyes drifted over the portraits of Rhys and Feyre's family, each figure rendered in exquisite detail. Among them, your gaze settled on an image that felt oddly familiar, it was your pen pal. But as you gazed at the details it felt as though you were looking at someone you knew well, there was a simmering beneath your skin.
Why did he feel so familiar?
Captured with remarkable precision by Feyre's skilled hand, his hazel eyes bore into you from beneath the layers of paint. Their intensity, almost unnerving yet strangely captivating.
Why were you so drawn to him?
Multiple footsteps echoed through the marble floors, prompting you to delicately brush down your tunic, ensuring it lay perfectly to display the intricate symbols of the courts. The tunic was one of the same from the previous meeting, but instead of silver being the base you had commissioned another version. A dark charcoal, a nod to the night court. And you have to say the designs really did pop against the smoky backdrop.
As Rhysand and Feyre entered the foyer, their presence commanded attention, followed closely by three more figures. Among them, you recognised Azriel instantly, his piercing gaze locking onto yours.
It was the second time today that his eyes had ensnared your attention.
Cassian and Nesta followed suit, their identities obvious from Lucien's descriptions.
Azriel took you in, digesting your new look. One he couldn’t deny he liked. He enjoyed seeing you in Night Court colours– his colours.
“Welcome, y/n,” Feyre greeted with a warm smile.
"Your home is beautiful. Thank you for letting me stay here," you replied graciously, returning her smile.
A shadowy fae had swiftly taken your bags moments ago, her disappearing in silence with your belongings. You assumed she was taking them to your room.
“I just thought with us working so closely together, you being close made more sense,” Feyre explained. Despite the weight of this new chapter bearing down on the entire court, Feyre had decided to spearhead this herself. She was taking the lead, determined to prove her worth as High Lady to her people and all of Prythian.
Feyre then proceeded to introduce Cassian and Nesta. You nodded at them with a polite smile, “And of course you already know Azriel” Feyre spoke.
“Hmm I do” you hummed gently on your lips, the words rolling off in a quiet melody that seemed to make Azriel’s shadows vibrate. If you hadn’t been so enraptured by his gaze you might have noticed the smirks playing on Rhy’s and Cassian’s lips as they glanced over at the exchange.
One of Azriel’s shadows had found itself under your flowing trousers, swirling around your ankle like a gentle breeze. You wondered if Azriel knew of how fond his little minions were of you.
How they often stayed longer than necessary between correspondences, how they liked to play with your hair or how they would always dance when you hummed. Leaving them reluctant to ever leave.
You wondered if they had told him that, you also wondered what he told them.
The Inner Circle graciously showed you around the River House, leading you to the room where you would be staying during your visits. Your belongings for your short trip, already unpacked and hung in the wardrobe.
Finally, you all congregated in a large office that had been designated for your use during your visits. The office was spacious, with a large table dominating the centre of the room. You settled into a seat, surrounded by the others, who were all ready to assist you in your duties.
As part of your new role, you and Lucien had initiated a proposition allowing people from across Prythian to submit their concerns, feelings, and issues. You had worked through Summer’s submissions during your visit, as Lucien was also doing with the courts under his care. Rhys conjured multiple stacks of pages onto the table with a simple click of his finger, each page representing a submission from individuals within the Night Court.
There had to be thousands. Thank the stars Feyre had enlisted the help of her inner circle, otherwise you’re not sure the both of you would have made it through them all in one day.
You couldn't help but widen your eyes at the sight, the sheer volume of submissions taking you by surprise. Tarquin's court had been demanding, but the Night Court's submissions seemed to dwarf them in comparison.
Rhys and Feyre exchanged a glance, a hint of embarrassment colouring their expressions.
You could hear their concerns in the pauses of their breaths– Had they not been effectively managing their court? Were their people dissatisfied?
Feyre looked disheartened.
"This is a general submission, covering various concerns about the peace treaty, border movements, and trade agreements," you explained gently, seeking to alleviate any tension in the room. "It's commendable that your people feel comfortable expressing their feelings. We can't address issues if people choose to remain silent."
Feyre visibly relaxed at your words, and with that, the six of you began the arduous task of sorting through the requests, categorising them based on their content.
You’re not sure how much time had passed before light conversation spread across the room. Cassian huffing and puffing at how quickly everyone else was reading through requests, while he’d only made it through three.
Azriel was opposite you, flicking through the documents meticulously. Every now and then his gaze lingering on you before moving back to the task at hand. His shadows silently helping, by moving pages to their correct piles.
You wanted his shadows to help you. You knew if you’d asked them, they’d happily oblige. They were quite forthcoming during your correspondences, but you kept your mouth sealed and worked through the pages alone.
There had been an underlying theme to the Night Court’s residents' concerns. Similar to how Summer collectively were worried about the physical rebuilding of their home, the Night Court had their own collective issue.
They didn’t want the borders to open. They didn’t want to share Velaris.
You’re not particularly surprised, Velaris had been a secret city for years. It’s inhabitants were concerned for their safety, but of course it had also bred a rhetoric of exclusivity. They didn’t want ‘outsiders’ in their home.
Feyre seemed to become more and more uncomfortable as the pile regarding border restrictions continued to grow. You could tell Rhys was trying to comfort her, most likely through that magical mating bond– but he was failing.
“They’re pushing back Rhys…” The words left Feyre’s lips sadly. Despite how progressive Rhysand and Feyre wanted to be in this new chapter, that didn’t mean their people felt the same.
Velaris, Hewn City, the Ilyarians. Everything was so segregated, you weren’t surprised in the slightest that this type of mentality had grown.
“People are scared of what they don’t know..” You glanced up to Feyre, who was looking at you now. As were all the members of the table.
“The people of Velaris won’t be the only ones who may have reservations” You continued, laying the paper in your hand back onto the table.
“So did Tarquins people also feel this way?” Feyre asked, you could hear the desperation in her words.
Please tell me it’s not just my people who are being this hostile.
You tilted your head slightly, your lips forming a tight line. “Every court will differ in their issues… Summer’s concerns were not the same as yours.”
You knew that wasn’t what Feyre wanted to hear, her mate pulled her gently into him to press a reassuring kiss on her temple. Rhys pulled away, his expression turning serious as he narrowed his gaze on you.
“What are we doing wrong?” he asked, the weight of his question palpable in the room. The High Lord was essentially asking you where he and his family were failing. It wasn’t an easy question to address, but it seemed he wanted constructive criticism.
You rolled your shoulders back as you measured the tension in the room. Sometimes criticism could be hard to digest. Intertwining your fingers you placed your hands on the table in front of you.
“I appreciate you’ve done what you had to in order to protect your court,” you began cautiously, feeling the burning stares of all five of them on you.
But you wouldn’t let them deter you. This was a part of your job.
You continued, “But I believe there are some detrimental damages that have occurred because of it.”
You felt Nesta fold her arms beside you, and noticed how Cassian fidgeted in his seat. They were not enjoying this.
“Your people are segregated,” you said, stating the uncomfortable truth. “If you are deemed worthy enough, you can live in Velaris. If not, you are trapped in Hewn.” you emphasised this by bringing one hand to the left and your other to the right, as if metaphorically representing the two cities you mentioned.
"But that’s not how it is,” Cassian interjected, his tone defensive.
You continued, unwavering. “And then the Illyrians get the freezing mountains? You must be able to see what it looks like, you must be able to understand how it may feel to be a citizen of Hewn or an Illyrian, and look at Velaris wondering why you are not able to be a part of this.”
“Perhaps even feel you are not worthy enough to be part of this. It not only breeds an elitist mindset for the citizens of Velaris but the resentment the inhabitants Hewn city harbour must be tenfold”
Cassian's demeanour shifted, growing more defensive. “You don’t understand, that’s how it has always been. Everything we’ve done, the sacrifices we’ve made were all for the greater good.”
“Every court, every person has had to make sacrifices. Let’s not sit here and start tallying, as you will be quickly humbled to realise it is not the Night Court that has lost the most,” you countered, feeling the tension in the room rise. “Nor shall sacrifice be used as a just excuse when something is not right.”
Azriel gave Cassian a subtle look, urging him to calm down.
Taking a breath, you spoke softer this time “I’m not here to judge, we can’t change what has happened. But I won’t mince my words. The way this court has existed has allowed only a certain group to prosper, and that is a problem.”
"Feyre, if you truly wish for humans to live in your court in harmony with Fae, if you want your borders to open and those who wish to travel and move freely, then things will have to change," you emphasised, your tone earnest yet firm. "If the Fae of this land can't already coexist among each other, then I don't know how opening borders or integrating humans will even be feasible."
Feyre's eyes met yours, a flicker of realisation crossing her features as she absorbed your words. It was clear that your statement had struck a chord with her.
“Then what do you propose we do, Miss Emissary of Peace?” Azriel’s question hung heavy in the air, his eyes searching yours for a solution. But it felt like a challenge.
While Cassian’s opposition had been obvious, Azriel, ever the Spymaster, had been quiet in his disagreement. He equally hadn’t been fond of the way you challenged his High Lord and Lady’s reign, but he wanted to test you. See if that sharp wit he had encountered in your correspondence could actually follow through to something more than words.
You paused, feeling the weight of Azriel's gaze on you.
Then you turned to the head of the table “Your son,” Feyre paused, a flicker of concern crossing her face at the mention of her child. “He is of studying age?”
Feyre nodded, Rhys giving you a scrutinising look. “He has tutors, yes.”
You looked at the Shadowsinger again, your eyes narrowing as your lips quipped at the edges. You would pass his test.
“I propose a school. A school for the children of Velaris, the children of Hewn,” you said, casting a meaningful glance at Cassian, “and the Illyrian children.”
At once, objections erupted around the table. Voices clamoured, expressing doubts about Illyrian participation and concerns over mingling different communities. How only High Fae had ever been the ones to have access to education, and that other groups would most likely not even care. But your focus remained on Feyre, sensing a glimmer of interest in her eyes.
“I know how stubborn people can be, how set in their ways they become over time,” you continued, addressing the room. “So we start with the children. We show them how positive change can be. Myself and Lucein both agreed adopting a human education system would be really beneficial here in Prythian. Your court is currently the only one with the means and resources.”
Despite the protests of those around the table, Feyre remained locked on your words so you continued. Knowing exactly what you needed to say to win her favour.
“I believe every child has a right to learn, to read and write, and a chance at an education. A place they can go to where they are safe, where they will be heard. A place where they can make friends, and…I guess after all this suffering and loss, shouldn’t we give all children an opportunity to just be kids?”
The room was silent now, Rhys tilted his head with a small smirk while Feyre beside him leaned forward. Cassian had gone silent too, your words silencing any oppositions he may have had. Even Nesta seemed to be reflecting on your proposition.
It was Azriel who offered you a gentle smile, all though his gaze was still dark. You had passed then. His silent test.
“A school for all children, it would be the first of its kind in all of Prythian.” Feyre beamed, looking at her mate with a glowing expression. “And maybe we could eventually welcome the humans too…and anyone else who wanted to join.”
You nodded in agreement, your vision now becoming a shared dream with the High Lady.
“I love it,” Feyre sang, her enthusiasm contagious. “But the guys are right, the people won’t agree.”
Rhys leaned forward, his expression thoughtful. “Perhaps,” he began, his voice measured, “but we can't afford to let fear and resistance dictate our actions. This is about shaping the future of our court, for all of Prythian. Fostering unity, and breaking down barriers that have long divided us.”
As chatter filled the room, you felt any lingering tension roll off your shoulders. Another successful decision was made, one that would undoubtedly surprise Lucien when he heard about it. You had gotten the Night Court to agree to opening a school on your first day, a proposal that had originally been a part of a five year plan.
Oh, the satisfaction of being able to gloat about this when you next saw Lucie.
Feyre excitedly began to discuss curriculum, subjects that would appeal to all communities. Of course she was quick to advocate that Art classes had to be a priority, and Cassian had joined in, declaring if the Ilyarins were to ever let their children attend school some kind of defensive fighting class would have to exist. Nesta was surprisingly quick to suggest Literature, the mention of the subject blazing something alight in her eyes.
“Do you always get what you want?” Azirel asked smoothly, his question going unnoticed by his busy family.
You smirked, your gaze softening on him “Always.”
༄
You don’t belong here.
The ocean doesn’t want you, we don’t want you.
Sharp talons were clawing at your skin, dragging you down to the oceans floor.
Drown, half breed. Why won’t you drown.
Dirty blood.
There’s no home for you here.
You awaken abruptly, your heart pounding in your chest, the remnants of fear lingering like a ghost. Gasping for air, you instinctively clutch at your throat, as if the claws of your nightmares still linger there.
Ready to drag you back down to the dark void of the oceans bed.
But it wasn’t real.
No, it had been real once though. Now a distant memory.
You lay there, trying to steady your breathing. It had been years since that particular nightmare plagued your sleep. It had haunted your younger years, a relentless spectre that would always find a way to creep into your dreams.
But with time, with age, you had managed to push it aside, burying it deep within the recesses of your mind.
Yet, tonight it had resurfaced with a vengeance. Perhaps it was the discussion of differences earlier in the day that had dredged up those buried fears. The submissions filled with divisive words like ‘other’, ‘outsiders’ and ‘them’ had struck a nerve, tapping into the lingering insecurities you were sure you’d grown out of.
But being 'other' was something you had become accustomed to. It was a label you had carried with you your entire life, never quite fitting in there, never fitting in here. Always straddling the line between worlds.
The land and the ocean.
You take a moment to steal a glance towards the window, greeted by the sight of the night sky, its darkness punctuated only by the twinkling stars and the soft glow of the moon. It was still night. Yet, you were wide awake. And knowing your hosts as late risers, you had a lot of time to kill.
With a sigh, you slip out of the large bed and reach for a robe hanging by the washroom. Its smooth black silk drapes elegantly around you, not wanting to leave the room in merely a night gown. Although you doubted anyone would be awake at this hour.
The need for fresh air beckons, guiding your steps towards the balcony that adjoins the living room you had explored earlier. As you step outside, a gentle breeze caresses your skin. Taking a seat in the plush couch, you find yourself mesmerised by the panoramic view of Velaris before you. The city sprawls out in all its glory, its enchanting beauty captivating even in the darkness of night.
Before you even have a chance to fully immerse yourself in the moment, a cup and pot of tea materialise in front of you, seemingly conjured by the magic of the manor. With a grateful smile, you pour yourself a cup of the steaming liquid, relishing in its comforting warmth.
It's only a matter of moments before you sensed his presence. You instinctively knew it was him. His shadows singing a whisper that you don’t even think he had been able to hear.
"You going to lurk there all night?" you tease with a playful smile, but you don’t turn to him. Your eyes fixed on the city across the river, while you sip quietly on your drink.
Azriel, perhaps surprised that you noticed him, joins you sitting at your side. His expression is tired, his usually sharp features softened by weariness. You wonder if he, too, wrestles with his own nightmares and torments that keep him awake at night.
"I understand why you did it," you speak softly, gesturing towards the city below. "It's beautiful, worth protecting. I hope you all didn't feel attacked by my observations earlier."
Azriel offers a small, understanding smile. "You have quite a sharp tongue, but you spoke the truth."
You sat with his words for a while, silence filling the air while he poured himself a cup of tea once the house had conjured him a cup.
“You always had the intention of proposing a school didn’t you?” Azriel's inquiry was direct, his eyes probing for the truth.
“It’s something Lucien and I had discussed," you admitted, meeting his gaze steadily. "We believed this court would be the most suitable place. While I hadn’t planned on suggesting it today, the solution seemed fitting given the circumstances.” As you spoke, you realised Azriel was closer than you initially thought, his presence radiating warmth beside you that almost made you move in closer to share that heat.
“But ultimately, the plan is broader," you continued. "We envision schools across Prythian, freely accessible to those who wish to attend. Schools for the littlings, and perhaps even universities for those seeking higher education. It’s a long-term plan, but I believe it could be the perfect tie to connect all the courts."
Vassa had mentioned the existence of a university on the continent, catering to humans in their early adulthood or those seeking to resume their studies. Once you and Lucien had solidified your plan for schools across Prythian, it was Tamlin to whom you proposed the idea of a university. You sensed that his court needed a beacon of hope, something to strive for. Your suggestion had the desired effect, not that you ever had a doubt. But it was how you’d managed to pull Tamlin from his depressive state. Giving him a sense of purpose and direction.
Azriel's expression softened, a hint of admiration in his eyes. "You really have it all planned out."
“Planning can only go so far though…” You paused, your thoughts drifting to the complexities of your role. It wasn’t all rainbows and schools. As if hearing your inner concerns, a cold, gentle caress brushed across your face – his shadows.
Azriel’s eyes widened slightly, watching as his shadows acted autonomously, curling around your hair and kissing your cheek.
"Well, hello, little ones. Have you missed me?" you purred playfully, eliciting a soft vibration of excitement from the shadows as they continued to fuss over you.
A soft melodic laugh left your lips, that had them stirring again.
"They seem to like you," Azriel remarked, his voice tinged with slight disbelief as he watched the shadows' unexpected display of affection.
"What's not to like?" you teased, noticing Azriel's surprise at his shadows' behaviour. "We've grown quite friendly during our correspondences. I might even consider them my friends," you added with a smile, knowing your words would only amplify the shadows' playfulness.
Friend, friend, friend.
They seemed to chant in Azriel’s ear.
“They’ve never acted like this with anyone before…” He whispered, his hand gently reaching forward to you. You didn’t move as he pulled a shadow from your hair, his rough fingers gently grazing past your throat as he did. The small action eliciting goosebumps over your body.
For a brief moment, you could have lost yourself in that delicate interaction, but a realisation dawned upon you. What he had just said was a lie.
“They’ve never acted like this with anyone before”
Lie.
But why would he lie about that? Something so small and trivial.
You could hear it in the unspoken, under his words, what it actually revealed. There had been another.
But who?

The Art of Dancing in the Rain
Summary: Eris needs to unwind, reader has the best idea to do exactly that.
Eris x summer court reader fluff
WC:1.5k (short and sweet)
A/n: As a Florida girly, playing in summer rain is so nostalgic that I had to write about it. Also I live for soft sweet vanserra brothers.

Eris was about ready to tear his hair out.. He wasn’t even supposed to be doing work but when Tarquin had handed him the stack of parchment, he couldn’t exactly say no. So that was how he ended up holed up in your childhood bedroom. Windows thrown open at the hopes of chasing in some semblance of a breeze. His skin felt sticky, unused to the summer heat.
Mind reeling with the half-assed documents in front of him. Trade agreements that had so many loopholes, it was a miracle the paper they were written on didn’t resemble swiss cheese.
The two of you were supposed to be visiting with your family. Which is where you were. Probably playing with your sister's new babe. The whole time during her pregnancy Eris would listen as you babbled excitedly about all the things you would do with the baby, hearts practically forming in your eyes. The moment she had gone into labor you had Eris winnow you both and the several bags of presents for the little tot. You had left to give the new family time to settle but you could only stay away for a few months, refusing to miss any major milestones for your precious niece.
You had been particularly excited to show off the little strawberry covered swimsuit you had found, ignoring Eris’ reminder it would probably be too big for the infant. And that the water would be far too cold to swim in at this point in the year.
So here Eris was cursing his dead father for the millionth time. This time for his utter lack of organization. For making him have to take time away from his excited mate and her family. He would love nothing more than to see you playing in the waves, splashing around with the small bundle in your arms.
A small knock on the door startled Eris from his musings. He jumped slightly before he recognized your signature knock. The only one he never had to answer to. Just like he expected, you slowly opened the door and searched the room for him. Your breathtaking smile was enough to make him put down his paperwork. Returning it wholeheartedly.
“Pumpkin, what are you doing here?” He asked, a smile not fading from his face. You crossed the room in a few steps, the light fabric of your dress catching on the wind that had not been flowing through the room a few moments ago.
“Do I need a reason to check on my favorite person?”
“I didn’t realize the babe was in here.” He made a show of looking around the room, like he might be able to find the small child
“Well the biggest babe is in front of me right now” He shot you a fake scolding look that made your head tip back in laughter. “I wanted to check on you, you said it wouldn’t take long and that was hours ago. I had to make sure you weren’t wasting away.” You closed the distance between you two and wrapped your arms around his waist. You head resting perfectly against his chest. His hands came up to rest on the small of your back and he placed a small kiss to the crown of your head.
“I should be done here soon, sweetheart. Go spend some time with your family.” He muttered but only squeezed you tighter. You looked past him, eyes glancing out the window before a breathtaking smile graced your face. You looked back to him and held up a tentative hand out to him.
“Do you trust me?” You asked simply. He didn’t hesitate.
“With my life.” He swore and you wrapped your hand around his and started pulling him out of the make-shift office through the giant sliding glass doors in the room. They opened right onto a small private beach and he tried not to grimace at the unfamiliar feeling of sand under his feet.
“Okay, now that you’ve got me here,” he wiggled his eyebrow at you, “what are you planning to do to me.” He was rewarded with another sweet giggle. When you stopped, you got silent. Waiting for something he realized. That familiar twinkle in your eye that told him you were scheming.
“Just stand here. Should be any second now.” And as if on cue a loud crack filled the sky and Eris vaguely felt something cold and wet drip down his scalp. Then another, and another until suddenly the sky opened up, the downpour of cool summer rain. You let out a sound of pure joy at the feeling of it against your skin. Your dress was already starting to cling to your skin and your hair was already starting to fall into your face.
“We should go inside my love.” Eris spoke up with a shake of his head, trying to free himself from the spell that you seemed to be casting on him.
“Dance with me?” You said a little too loudly, trying to be heard over the loud rain. He cocked his head slightly, swearing he must have heard you wrong. Huffing slightly, you grabbed his hand and gave his arm a tentative swing. Still not entirely getting the hint, you pulled him close to you and threw your arms around his neck. You started swaying slightly and Eris, with practiced hands, came to rest on your waist.
The two of you rocked back and forth, swaying to an invisible song until he leaned down close to your face. “If you want to dance, who am I to tell a beautiful female no?” You didn’t even have time to think of a response before he grabbed your hand and raised it over your head, swinging your body in a dramatic circle. He wanted to drown in the sound of your answering laugh. It warmed his body against the chill of the rain and he spun you once more just to hear that sweet sound again. He spun you around until you were dizzy and needed to lean against his chest for stability.
The small swaying motions quickly turned into a broken waltz. Nothing court worthy as the wet sand made it hard to find your footing but he got to hold you close so he wasn’t going to complain.
As the rain continued to pick up, you started to hum the melody of your favorite song to dance to. He couldn’t help his own laugh that flowed out of his mouth, your joy too infectious for him to feel silly about his current actions. He loved his hands to your waist and lifted you off your feet and into the air in a graceful arc.
When he placed you back on your feet, you wrapped your arms around his neck again and pulled his lips down to meet yours. You tasted like you mixed with the taste of the fresh raindrops that freckled your face and lips. He instantly felt drunk off the taste and pulled you closer against him, tipping your head back slightly to deepen the kiss.
The two of you stayed out for well over an hour. Spinning and laughing and kissing. Until the sky started to lighten and the downpour slowed down to a trickle. You were panting slightly, worn out between the heavy giggling and movement of your dancing.
You pulled his forehead down to rest against his. “I love you, Eris” and the reverence those four words heod as they flowed off your tongue was enough to make his knees weak.
“And I love you sweetheart.” He continued to sway the two of you back and forth until the rain had completely ceased before dipping you low enough for the tips of your hair to dip against the damp sand. He pulled you back up to him, your chest bumping against his and he put a single finger under your chin and placed a sweet kiss onto your lips. Pouring all his love into that point of connection. When he pulled away he couldn’t look away from your eyes. Bright and so full of energy that he truly couldn’t believe you were his.
He was still in awe every day of your beauty and the unabashed way you felt your emotions. Today it was joy and he felt that same feeling mirrored in his own face as he pulled your head against his chest, more so embracing now than dancing and whispered a quiet, “thank you” into the crown of your head. He couldn’t say all the words he wanted to but he hoped you could hear the meaning behind those two. Thank you for loving me, thank you for showing me that goodness still exists in this world , thank you for being with me when I was in a bad mood, and thank you for reminding me how it is important to enjoy the little things like dancing in the rain.
“No, Thank you” Thank you for letting me love you, thank you for loving me back, thank you for still believing in that good and working so hard to make sure it’s still there, thank you for coming out with me and sharing this moment with me. Those words held so much more meaning than either of you could either find the words for but the two of you felt them all the same. As the two of you swayed until the sun started to set along the sea, Eris wished he could bottle this moment and carry it around with him for the rest of his life.

author's note: as you all know by now, i rely heavily on music for inspiration so here's my muse for this request. consider this my present to all of you. happy holidays besties. warning: smut under the cut.
The walls of the Summer Palace shook as you slammed the door with so much force that the entire thing threatened to come off the steel hinges. You were fuming, chest heaving and eyes blazing as you whirled around to face the source of your anger.
“How dare you interfere with my mission?” you huff with indignation, staring up at the cold, stoic expression of the shadowsinger.
Azriel was entirely unmoved by the outburst and it only served to infuriate you further. You’d both been assigned by Rhysand to repair the tenuous alliance between the Night Court and the Summer Court and you were doing a damned good job of charming Tarquin back to your side before Azriel rudely interrupted your lunch with the High Lord.
“It’s our mission. Not yours.” Azriel says coolly, his golden gaze sweeping over you with indifference.
“Funny because it seems like I’m the only one doing the work,” you bite back.
A flash of anger marred Azriel’s otherwise neutral expression, but it was gone as quickly as it came. He straightened to his full height causing the Illyrian warrior to tower a good foot over you as his large, dark wings flared across his back.
“I’d hardly call throwing yourself at Tarquin work.”
You scoffed at the utter hypocrisy of his accusation. “Oh please, like you weren’t out there shamelessly flirting with Cresseida. Are you so unaware of the irony of such a statement or are you truly so blinded by your arrogant misogyny that you fail to see that we are doing the exact same thing?”
Azriel seethed, stalking towards you in three smooth strides. The shadowsinger stepped directly into a beam of sunlight streaming through the open window, his tall, muscled form completely overshadowing your own. You supposed you should've felt intimidated, but as you looked up at his cruel, handsome face, all you felt was pure adrenaline.
In a way that you knew infuriated him, your gaze flickered down to the soles of Azriel’s boots, dragging your eyes to the breezy riding pants that hugged his powerful thighs and toned ass, all the way up to the white, billowing shirt that was left unbuttoned, revealing the sprawling tattoos inked upon his golden brown skin. The fabric did nothing to hide the toned physique hiding underneath and the sculpted planes of his abs peeked through the thin material. He held your stare as you slowly made the ascent to his irritatingly handsome face, never balking as you took in the razor sharp jawline, the full, sensual lips, the strong brows and the fluttering eyelashes that kissed the tops of his perfectly sculpted cheekbones.
Azriel released a frustrated sigh, his breath disturbing the inky dark locks falling over the brightest shade of hazel eyes you’ve ever seen.
“It’s not the same.” He gritted out, taking a step closer towards you. “I didn’t smile at Cresseida.”
You paused, blinking up at the shadowsinger. He clenched his jaw and glowered down at you. The most expressive you’ve ever seen him in all your years of knowing one another.
“Are you honestly that much of an asshole that any display of happiness I exhibit would infuriate you this much?”
Azriel’s laugh was mirthless and devoid of humor. “Are you honestly that clueless as to why that would bother me?”
The words barely registered as your temper got the best of you. Lifting a defiant chin up at the shadowsinger, you dared to poke his chest.
“I’m not fucking clueless.”
Azriel wrapped his fingers around your wrist. Something dangerous and lethal flashed through his eyes. “Yell at me again and I’ll give you a reason to scream.”
There wasn’t a single coherent thought in your mind as your gaze flickered to the grim line of his mouth. Azriel snarled as you inhaled a sharp breath.
Perhaps you’d truly lost your sanity because against all sense and logic, you found yourself baiting the shadowsinger.
“What are you going to do, Azriel? Punish me?”
Azriel backed you up against the wall, his hands coming down on either side of your head as he caged you in. Your heart was beating so loudly that you could practically hear its erratic rhythm echoing in your ears.
“Is that what you want? For me to fuck the brat right out of you?”
Cauldron fucking fry you. The tension was palpable between you and Azriel, permeating in the air and practically suffocating you with the heady sense of lust and desire.
You’ve never been more aroused in your life.
Azriel could sense it in the flush spreading through your chest, the color tinging your cheeks with a rosy flush. You looked so fucking irresistible, but he wasn’t done toying with you. He knew you wanted this, wanted him, but he needed to hear it come out of your pretty little mouth.
His fingers curved around your jaw, tilting your chin up to meet his burning gaze. “It is, isn’t it? Does the thought of me keep you up at night?”
Your eyes fluttered close as his other hand fisted the hem of your dress. His rough, calloused fingers skittered over your leg as he pressed his erection against your midsection. You hissed in response as he hoisted you up, pressing your back against the cold cement.
“I bet you’ve thought about this exact moment with your hands between your legs. Tell me sweetheart, do you touch yourself and wish it were my fingers getting you off instead?”
Despite how accurate he was, you weren’t about to give Azriel the satisfaction. “Don’t flatter yourself, shadowsinger. If the thought of you ever crosses my mind, it’s because you infuriate me like no other. Never in my immortal life have I ever met such a stubborn, hard headed male."
“But you want me just as badly as I want you.”
You huff in indignation, but there was no denying your arousal. It was so potent you were sure Azriel could scent it.
With your pride on the line, you pivoted back to the anger you’d felt only moments ago. “Where do you get off making these assumptions? The absolute fucking audacity—“
Azriel chuckles darkly. “Oh?” His lips skate over the hollow of your throat as you swallow thickly. “So if I were to touch you right now, I wouldn’t find your panties absolutely soaked?”
“No,” you breathed. “Because I’m not wearing any.”
“Fuck,” was all Azriel managed to say before his lips collided with yours.
There was nothing sweet about the kiss. It was rough and punishing, full of need and desperation as his lips melded against yours. Azriel hoisted you up, wrapping your legs around his trim waist as he deepened the kiss. Your fingers twine in his hair, tilting his head up towards you while he nipped at your bottom lip. His tongue begged for entrance and you gladly obliged him, moaning into his mouth as he explored every inch of you. Azriel absolutely fucking lost it.
The shadowsinger squeezed your backside and hoisted you up, his kisses skirting over your neck, down to your throat, and into the little crevice of your collarbone. His name fell from your lips like a prayer.
Azriel was a full and complete sentence.
“Keep moaning my name like that and I won’t be able to resist the temptation to fuck you right against this wall.”
You nipped at his earlobe, eliciting a string of curses out of the shadowsinger. “So do it.”
Perhaps it was foolish to challenge Azriel, but you couldn’t fucking help it. You wanted him so badly that every second that he wasn’t inside of you felt excruciating.
“I want to hear you say it.”
Azriel’s silky voice caressed your ears and sent a wave of pleasure through your body.
“You were right. I do think about you. All the fucking time. I get off on the thought of you touching me, but it’s nothing compared to the real thing.” Azriel growls into your neck, sucking harshly at the base of your throat and marking his claim on your skin. “I want you, Azriel. So fucking badly that it hurts.”
“Then take me, sweetheart.”
With those four words, your pride completely disintegrated. You tugged at the front of his trousers, pulling them down hastily while Azriel groaned into your mouth. His cock sprang free from the constraints of the fabric and you licked your lips at the sheer size of him. He was long and thick, so much so that your brain couldn’t quite calculate how you’d take all of him.
But you’d damn well try.
A growl ripped through the shadowsinger’s chest as you gripped his shaft, flicking your thumb over his tip and spreading the bead of precum over his sensitive head. Azriel rested his head on the crook of your shoulder, his hot pants sweeping through your skin.
“Save the teasing for later, baby. I need to be inside of you. Now.”
You whimper in anticipation, watching as the shadowsinger hoisted you over his cock. You braced your hands on his shoulders as he eased the tip in, gasping as you felt his length stretch your walls. Azriel cupped your cheek, brushing the tears from the corner of your eye as he allowed you to acclimate yourself to the pain and pleasure.
“Look at me, sweetheart,” he whispers softly. The tone of his voice soothes the sting as his golden gaze locks onto your face. Azriel presses his forehead against yours, kissing you so gently as though he were afraid of hurting you. “That’s it, baby. You’re doing so good, taking me so well. Such a good fucking girl for me.”
Holy gods. You were so overcome with pleasure that you couldn’t even feel the pain anymore. You took every inch of Azriel’s cock, your pussy hugging around him so tightly that it was a wonder how he didn’t come right then and there.
“Gods, you’re so fucking tight. Feels like fucking heaven, baby.”
You groaned in response, greedily latching your lips onto his collarbone. “Az, please. Wanna feel you.”
“Use your words, angel. What is it that you want?”
There wasn’t a single ounce of shame left within you as you faced the shadowsinger and traced his bottom lip with your thumb. “I want you to fuck me, Azriel. Rough. Hard. Show me how badly you want me.”
“You fucking kill me when you say things like that.”
Azriel doesn’t give you a chance to respond before his mouth is on yours again. He grips the tops of your thighs, pulling his cock out of your pussy before slamming it in all the way. You cried out in ecstasy, clawing at his back to keep you steady, careful not to disturb the beautiful wings at his back.
The shadowsinger thrusts at a steady, relentless pace, drawing out your pleasure, making you writhe and cry and moan all at once. You couldn’t tell where you ended and where Azriel began. The two of you were fused together and the entire thing felt like an out of body experience. At one point you could’ve sworn you were watching yourself getting absolutely railed against the wall while clinging onto Azriel for dear life.
You were entirely shameless as you licked, nipped, and sucked at the expanse of golden brown skin that your lips had access to. Azriel fucked into you and you rolled your hips in tandem as that wicked tongue of his slipped past the seam of your lips and flicked against yours. You sucked hard, fighting for dominance as the shadowsinger moaned into your mouth.
When your fingers grazed the sensitive membrane of his wings, Azriel bucked against you and released a string of curses that would’ve made a sailor blush.
“Fucking hell,” Azriel choked. “I can’t—gods, you feel too fucking good.”
“Don’t stop, Az.” You plead, rolling your hips to take more of him. “I’m so close.” Azriel responds by rutting into you, hitting that sweet spot that had you seeing stars. “Gods, right there. So perfect. You’re so fucking perfect.”
Azriel could feel you clenching around him. It felt divine, the ironclad grip you had on his cock, hugging snugly around him until he was practically melting into your hands was nothing like he’s ever felt before. He squeezed your ass, angling his hips just right so that his tip touched that sweet spot within your walls over and over again.
“Be a good girl and cum for me, sweetheart.”
When his thumb flicked over your clit, you completely lost it. The orgasm was mind-shattering, rocking through your entire body like an earthquake as you buried your head in Azriel’s shoulder. The sound of skin slapping against skin filled the room as he thrust hard and fast, moaning your name repeatedly as you felt a wave of euphoria wash over you.
“Holy gods,” Azriel breathed. “Fuck me—”
Those dark, powerful wings of his flared behind him as he came, hard and fast, the orgasm barreling through him like the rushing wind when he took flight. He crumpled to the floor, taking you with him as you both collapsed from the effort. Azriel’s chest rose and fell as you held him against you, the both of you feeling absolutely fucked out and blissful. You toyed with his soft, raven hair, cradling him in your arms as his eyes fluttered open. His cheeks were flushed and his lips were swollen and you decided that it was the most beautiful sight you’ve ever seen.
Azriel blinked up at you, his hazel eyes shimmering like honey in the light. He appraised you in silence, gently tucking a stray dark lock behind your ear. The intensity of his gaze awakened butterflies in your stomach.
“What?” you asked softly, much to the shadowsinger’s pleasure.
“Nothing,” he says with a slight grin. “You’re just so beautiful.”
You couldn’t help the smile that tugged at the corner of your lips. Azriel felt like someone had taken a fist to his stomach. You were so fucking breathtaking that it was almost unfair.
He traced your lips, his mind committing the sight of your genuine smile into his memory. “Gods, do that again.”
You grinned. An actual, genuine grin. “I’m just smiling.”
“I know,” Azriel says. “It’s the most beautiful thing I’ve ever seen.”
Despite the fact that he’d given you the best orgasm of your life just moments ago, the compliment makes you blush. “And to think, all you had to do to see it was to piss me off beyond belief.”
The shadowsinger beamed. He took your hand in his, brushing his lips over the tops of your knuckles. “It was worth it.”
“Because I finally admitted that I’ve wanted you all along?”
“Because you smiled for me.”

Even Lovers Drown -
Chapter 17
Synopsis: Sirens are known to be merciless creatures who lure their prey with their ethereal voices.
But what happens when Gwyneth, a half Fae half siren, meets someone who is immune to her song? Maybe she doesn’t need it for him to want her.
Tumblr media
Read on Ao3
Warning: Blood and violence
Snippet:
It was all happening so fast. One minute, Azriel was sitting in Rhysand’s office with his brothers, giving his latest report and gathering his courage to tell them about Gwyn, and the next, Varian was barging in with an urgent message from Tarquin. Summer was under attack. Autumn soldiers had crossed the border at sunset and were already at the village closest to it. The second after having delivered the news, The Prince of Adriata, who had thought that he could afford a single quiet evening with Amren in Night, was out of the door and winnowing to his court.
Autumn had fooled them all. This attack had either been a rushed decision Beron had made because he had an advantage over them, or one out of desperation after hearing that the other courts had learned of his plans. Perhaps the High Lord of Autumn had decided to launch an attack before the defence against him got too strong. Whichever had prompted this decision, Azriel did not care. Summer, the border, Gwyn, his siren… The whole office started to darken from his shadows expanding around the space. Their frantic whispers mixed with his own thoughts and filled him with a sense of dread.

Kahlia giggled leaning up to kiss him on the cheek. She loved when he made jokes, he was always so funny.
She sighed looking back to the Dawn palace.
"We should be getting back no? The meeting will be starting up again soon right?"
They'd wandered toward the gardens. She smiled at the koi fish, her fingers wiggling in the small pool. She hummed and looked back up at him.
"Can we have a koi pond in our palace? We could feed them every morning Tari!"
Her small giggles made the world seem so much brighter, filled with so much light. He couldn't help but smile as he leaned towards her, his cheek tingled where she kissed it.
Then she brought them back down to reality, the knowledge they had to return to the meeting and sit through more of things that didn't really affect them.
Tarquin took her arm, walking by her side as the wandered towards the gardens. "I don't see why we can't, it would be a fine addition to our home I think."

Open to: Females (mun/muse/fc must be 21+) Plot: After a chance encounter with a wealthy stranger, your muse receives a gift and is propositioned to be his pet/sugar baby. One way or another, he always gets what he wants. Muse: Tarquin "Quin" Teague, 46, Kingpin/Head of the Cross Syndicate crime ring. This muse is a genuine picky asshole into shibari, lo-fi, and using people
After a chance meeting, Teague had one of his men send an NDA and a little gift to the young woman with no explanation of how he knew where to find her or how he could have guessed every physical detail about her. When the kingpin wanted something, he took it. The large black velvet box with its crimson red silk bow contained an elegant black Chanel dress, Louboutin pumps, an Hermès clutch, and Cartier necklace to his taste. The card accompanying everything only gave her a date, time, and address.
He sat alone in the upscale restaurant that should have been bustling with all of its reservations, now cancelled and paid off at his request. If there was one thing he’d learned, everyone had secrets and he knew how to use them. The man had taken a liking to the pretty new face and curiosity had gotten the best of him. If he was going to take on a new pet he wanted to see how she responded to doting and the order of his habits. His gaze sat on the door as he drank a glass of whiskey, only ever looking down to tap the ash off of his cigar, never to check the time. When the door opened something almost like a smile drew across his lips as he waited to see if she showed up on time dressed up as he’d liked. Standing as she approached, a waiter pulled out the chair next to him for her and he leaned in and pressed his lips to her cheekbone, “A vision, once more. How are you this evening, love?”

Day 4 of @gwynweekofficial Adventure
I wrote a little Targwyn! May or may not continue this depending on the response to this.
Premise: With Elain and Lucien off traversing through the continent fighting death gods and riding pegasi, Nesta had regained her original position as Emissary to the Night Court. She was probably a terrible choice given how often she pissed people off, but with Mor gone to Vallahan, she was the only remaining member of the Night Court with any experience in politics. Rhysand and Feyre had been banned once more from Summer, likely as a result of Tamlin informing Tarquin of Rhysand’s frequent unwelcome visits to Spring, Cassian and Azriel were hopeless in that department, and Amren didn’t give a shit. When Nesta reaches out to Tarquin to repair relationships damaged by her sister and her mate, Gwyn and Emerie take the opportunity to brave the world outside Night for the first time in ages.
Gwyn took a deep breath and tried not to panic.
This was her first trip outside of the Night Court since the fateful incident. The one which had turned her life upside down. The one where she had failed and lost, again and again. Which led to her running to the library to hide away.
Yet without that incident, she would’ve never wound up in Night. She would’ve never met her best friends Nesta and Emerie. She would’ve never become a Carynthian.
She would’ve never become a Valkyrie.
Deep breaths. Gwyn concentrated on her breathing. In. out. She took in the scents of her surroundings. Nesta’s lavender scents. Emerie’s mix of various spices.
You are not strong enough for this.
I take that thought and let it go. I am strong. Stronger than my demons, stronger than my past. We all are.
Gwyn placed one of her hands in Nesta’s and the other in Emerie’s, opening her eyes with a smile. “I can’t wait to see the world I missed out on.”
They were all three of them in blue dresses to honor the Summer Court. Nesta wore a shimmering silvery dress that matched the color of her eyes, with a large, billowing skirt with lacy butterflies attached to it that looked like something a queen would wear to a royal ball. A silver and diamond tiara adorned her braided hair while diamond and emerald jewelry hung around her neck, her wrists, and her fingers.
Gwyn was in a teal dress which also matched her eyes; it was a long, sleeveless dress with a highly ruffled skirt that went down to the floor; it gave her the look of a mermaid. Enormous sapphires sparkled from the necklace she had on, a gift from Amren to Nesta which Nesta had passed on to Gwyn, and her sapphire heart studs looked adorable on her, as well as her bracelet of seashells. Her fiery hair had been tied up in a chignon bun, a tanzanite tiara glittering from her head.
Emerie was in a navy blue dress that complemented her skin very well. The dress was off-shoulder and there was a slit on one side that cut to mid-thigh. Aside from that, the dress was rather plain; it was the jewelry that made it look spectacular. Incredible gold jewelry with amethyst and garnet gemstones, complete with a man tikka that somewhat resembled an invoking stone were it not for its deep red color. Amethyst was for Emerie’s favorite color, royal purple. The garnet was a nod to Emerie’s Illyrian heritage, which she had recently decided to embrace.
Together, they looked like High Ladies. Gwyn laughed when they’d all settled down in the carriage, saying, “We look like we’re headed towards our own coronations.”
Nesta snorted, Emerie smirking on her other side. “Maybe we would all be dressing like this had I accepted Eris’s proposal.”
“Well, technically you still can,” Emerie mused.
Gwyn gasped. “Em!”
“What? Like Eris wouldn’t take her, rejected proposal or not? I mean, she’s Nesta. Besides, the Autumn Court sounds so cool.”
Gwyn shook her head emphatically. “Yes, but Nesta loves Cassian. Nothing can equal that.”
Nesta chose that moment to speak. “Do I?”
Gwyn blinked. “Sweetie…we attended your mating ceremony. We were all there. You were glowing then.”
Nesta sighed. “Yes, but now…now I’m having some doubts. Perhaps this time away from him will help me get clarity.”
Gwyn and Emerie exchanged concerned glances but did not push. They’d have plenty of time to get the truth out of Nesta anyway.
Gwyn was gently shaken awake when the carriage arrived before the Summer Court palace. Gwyn stared in awe.
The palace was hewn from light brown stone upon a mountain-island floating in a bay the shape of a crescent. The floating lantern lights that lit up the surrounding city gave the whole place an ethereal glow. Guards at the entrance opened the sea-glass doors to them as they walked in. They must have been waiting for them.
Her dress suddenly felt plain before the magnificence of this castle. The man who lived here had to be very powerful, and not happy with their ruler at all. Gwyn gulped, feeling the nerves settle in. Her hands shook slightly.
“Hey.” Nesta grabbed her wrist. “We’re here. We’re with you.”
Emerie nodded grimly, gripping her other hand. “If you want to leave, I’ll escort you out while Nesta carries on the conversation.” Gwyn nodded. “I am the rock against which the surf crashes,” she whispered. Since there was an enormous ocean near them, it felt appropriate.
“Nothing can break us,” Nesta and Emerie answered fiercely.
Gwyn felt nothing but calm as they were escorted to a patio to wait for Tarquin and his most trusted advisors. Being near the sea calmed her too. She breathed in the sea salt air, stared at the powerful body of water that exuded possibilities.
“Ladies.” Gwyn looked up, her breath catching in her throat. The trio was heavenly beautiful, their dark skin in stark contrast with their brilliant turquoise eyes and silvery white hair. The one in the middle emanated power, and Gwyn instantly knew he was the High Lord. The woman to his right stared them down suspiciously.
They all three of them scrambled out of their chairs to bow. “High Lord,” Nesta said reverently, bowing deeply.
The male waved her off. “Please call me Tarquin. High Lord is far too formal.”
“High Lord!” The lady snapped, pulling him aside. She hissed something in Tarquin’s ear that typical High Fae hearing wouldn’t be able to catch, but her water nymph blood gave her a built-in sonar system that allowed her to catch what others wouldn’t be able to.
“You can’t trust these folk. Remember what happened last time?”
“These are not Rhysand’s inner circle members, Cresseida.”
“No,” Cresseida retorted. “They’re his lackeys.”
“We are not Rhysand’s lackeys,” Gwyn called loudly. Both Cresseida and Tarquin looked back at her in surprise. Nesta and Emerie turned towards her too.
“You heard that?” Tarquin asked, intrigued. Gwyn smiled. “Super hearing is one of my many talents.”
Cresseida raised a brow. “Oh? Then pray tell, what are your other talents?”
Gwyn shrugged, her smile transforming into a grin. “Allow me to introduce myself more formally. Gwyneth Berdara. Carynthian. Priestess. Valkyrie. How do you do?”
Murmuring broke out amongst the trio. “Valkyrie?” The other male asked. “Last we heard, the Valkyries were no more.”
Nesta stepped forward. “With the help of Gwyn’s research, we’ve revived it.” Gwyn turned to Nesta, beaming. “Nesta is the new leader of the Valkyries. She is also the emissary to the Night Court, but let me tell you, she’s had her fair share of spats with Rhysand.”
Nesta nodded. “Most of the time, we do not see eye to eye. We hate each other, but we have an understanding not to get in each other’s way. He is too proud to come and try to make peace here, so he has sent me in his stead.” Nesta inclined her head at Tarquin. “We met. At the High Lord’s meeting. Remember?”
Gwyn did not know what happened at this meeting, but Nesta must have made a big impact there if the Summer Court trio was now looking at them with more respect.
“Here’s the deal, then,” Cresseida said. “Kill Rhysand, and we will consider an alliance with you.”
The male on the far left gasped, and Tarquin glared at her reproachfully. Nesta steepled her fingers before her. “I’m…not sure I will be able to do that.”
“Then get out,” Cresseida snapped, and she flung her hand in Nesta’s direction.
“Don’t touch my friend!” Gwyn shrieked, stepping in front of Nesta, who had frozen. She closed her eyes, bracing for impact.
Which didn’t come. Gwyn opened her eyes, and to her amazement, a watery barrier resembling a shield had formed in front of her and Nesta. Everyone was staring at her. She blinked.
“I didn’t know I could do that,” she muttered, dropping her hand. The shield disappeared. Tarquin laughed softly, and Gwyn’s eyes snapped to his. There was appreciation there, perhaps because she had protected her friend instinctively, and dare she say some affection?
“You’re of Summer Blood,” Tarquin observed. “Interesting.”
Gwyn blinked, surprise overtaking her. “I-I didn’t know. I never knew my father.”
Tarquin took a few steps towards her. “Would you like to stay awhile and learn to control your magic?”
Gwyn’s mouth dropped open before she remembered to control herself and closed it. A High Lord offering to teach her magic? She couldn’t help it; she could feel her face turning as red as her hair.
She stammered “I- wow, you would really-I mean yes, thank you so much.”
Tarquin gave her that adorable soft smile again. “You are most welcome, Gwyneth Berdara.”

The Bonds That Break Us (Rhysand x Female! Reader) Part 2
Part 1 , Part 3 , Part 4, Part 5 , Part 6, Final Part
Request: "Would you do a Rhysand x fem!reader series? Maybe fem!reader is Rhysand's mate and Tamlin's sister? So secret love?"
AN: omg guys the love part 1 received has been so amazing. I seriously am so happy you're all loving this fic as much as me. As someone who hasn't written in so long it's been so fufilling to write this. Thank you for all the kind words.
Warnings (so far): SA, starting to get a little steamy

The next morning I woke with a certain lightness to my step that I knew shouldn’t be there. My hands skimmed over the countless dresses looking for just the right one. All of the sudden I had started caring more about my appearance for council meetings. Deep down I know why.
I meet my brother and Lucien in the foyer per usual, and I feel Lucien’s fiery gaze rake over the lavender chiffon draped over my body. I told myself that I had selected the revealing dress because of how hot the Day court was, but I think I had other motives backing my choice.
The Day Court, like all other courts, was utterly beautiful. Large pillars stood all around and like the summer court it was entirely open air, allowing the sunlight and breeze to float into the room. I sit between Lucien and Tamlin at a large table with the other High Lord’s and nobility. My eyes scan the room for a hint of that violet that I dreamt about last night but I don’t find it. It isn’t until a few minutes later, when my skin starts buzzing, that the High Lord of Night steps into the room. His presence commending, his eyes immediately finding mine.
I feel him pluck at the bond as if to say hello. After speaking to him through my mind for so long it was almost strange to see him in real life. Somehow he was always much more handsome in person. Like no matter how many times I tried to put together the image of his face at night it never compares to the sheer glory and presence of him.
As Helion began speaking a voice crawled into my head.
I’m glad you find me so glorious, darling.
“Shh you nosey High Lord. I’m trying to listen,” I silence him and to my  surprise he obliges.
Helion talks on and on and of course there is arguing between Kallias and Beron as there usually is but I couldn’t begin to tell you what about. I spend the entire meeting noticing every move the High Lord of Night made. When he breathed, or flexed his hands, adjusted his spot on his seat. Whenever I felt his eyes sliding over to me I would do my best to evade them.
See something you like? I look over to him and find his eyes smirking.
“Yeah actually, Eris is looking especially delicious today,” I tease, I don’t break eye contact with him.
He chuckles brushing off my comment. You’re a vision in purple mate, but if Lucien looks at your cleavage one more time I might just leap across the table and rip his only good eye out.
“So violent,” I muse disapprovingly, looking towards where Kallias is speaking about potential war with Hybern.
I save my most brutal acts of violence for those who seek to harm you darling. My eyes flit back at him and a smile tugs at the corners of his lips as he averts his gaze back to Kallias.
“Enough talk of war my friends, let us adjourn this meeting until next week.” Helion finally says, causing the rest of the council to let out a breath.
Tamlin doesn’t say a word before he and Lucien stand and make a beeline to Tarquin, most likely to talk about problems we’ve been having on the border. I take it as my queue to walk around the Day Court’s terrace and I secretly hope that a certain High Lord follows me.
The Day Court and the Summer Court are like twin sisters. Except the Day Court always felt like liquid gold. All around me I could see clouds and honeyed sunlight peeking through the them. The rays warmed my skin as I basked in them, leaning against one of the many large pillars.
“I knew you’d look amazing in this light,” drawled that voice I had secretly wanted to hear.
I glance over to find The High Lord admiring me, the light of the Day Court doing wonders for him as well. “You shouldn’t be here,” I say, trying to act like I mean it.
“Yet you wanted me to follow you,” he smirks knowingly, slowly stepping towards me.
“What makes you say that?”
“This,” he says, pulling on the bond again. I take a sharp breath in and he chuckles. “I’ll never get tired of that reaction.”
“I really hate it when you do that,” I grumble.
“No you don’t,” he muses using one arm to cage me into the pillar I’m leaning against.
“Yes I do,” I affirm. His other hand lifts my chin to meet his stare.
“No you don’t, you don’t hate anything about me. In fact you think I’m beautiful,” he smirks, somehow stepping even closer to me. “And, you want me to touch you right now, your skin is practically on fire for it.”
“My Lord-”
“I told you to call me Rhysand,” he cuts me off. I want to lie and tell him no, I want to push him away but I fear that even the action of me touching his chest, even for a moment, would be too much for me to bear.
“Rhys,” I breathe out. Before I can even think his lips are on mine swallowing the breath that held his name, just like he promised.
The kiss is hot and needy, built up from the last two weeks of torture. One of his hands finds my face while the other finds my waist. His frame presses me into the pillar behind me. I feel my body ignite in a way I didn’t know possible, I need him closer. I pull on the lapels of his jacket earning a low grumble from him.
“Say it again,” he says between kisses.
“Rhysand,” I moan, his name like a prayer on my lips.
“Fuck,” he groans before sliding a hand down under my knee and hoisting it up to wrap around his waist. The slit in my dress parted for him, giving him full access to my bare leg. I feel his lips drag across my neck leaving opened mouth kisses on me. I practically come undone for him, the only thing keeping me upright are his hands and the pillar behind me.
In the distance I can hear footsteps clicking across the floor, in a panic I winnow both of us further away. He breaks apart the kiss and gives me a bewildered look.
“Sorry, someone was coming,” I say breathlessly.
“Let them see,” he grins before stepping closer to me. I take a step back and he halts his movements, surprised.
“We can’t, my brother will kill me, kill you.” I remind him.
He lets out a chuckle like he’s completely unphased, “I promise you that I hold more power in my pinky than Tamilin does in his entire body.”  he boasts.
“Still,” I start. “You’re the High Lord of the Night Court, his sworn enemy, my court's sworn enemy. Think of what they would say about me if the truth came out. What they would say about you. You’d be the monster who stole away the princess of spring.” I ramble.
“I’ve been called a monster by those who know nothing but stories of me my whole life, what’s one more?” he states.
“I’ve heard stories of your court, that it’s the part of Prythian where the most feared monsters and beings of our kind reside,” I say fearfully. I start to remember who he is. Not just a pretty face, but the High Lord of the Night Court. He’s dangerous, and he is a monster.
“Part of that is true,” he affirms, and I can see a tinge of hurt in his eyes.
“And the other part?” I ask on bated breath.
“You’ll see soon enough mate,” he says.
“My Lord we cannot be together,” I state firmly.
“Back to formalities now are we?” he sighs. “I’ve waited 500 years to find my mate y/n, don’t think for one second that I’m going to stay away from you just because you’re afraid of that pathetic excuse for a brother.”
“He’s not pathetic, he loves me!” I growl.
“You don’t know half the things you think you do about your brother,” he sneered.
As much as I hated to admit it he was right. Tamlin and I had never truly been close. We hardly ever did anything together. I always sensed a darkness in him that I couldn’t place. There was so much he simply refused to tell me just because I was a woman. But I couldn't bear that truth to Rhys, not when I needed his silence.
“This conversation is over,” I huff before walking away, I feel him grasp my arm.
“No darling it’s not,” Rhys says with frustration in his eyes.
“Wanna bet?” I ask smugly before winnowing back to the Spring Court.
Tumblr media
The next few days I don’t hear from Rhysand, and I don’t feel a tug on the bond. All of the sudden my life is filled with a sense of melancholy, I never had before. I had grown so used to his constant tugging on the bond or his remarks throughout my daily life that I felt a little empty without him.
So empty that I now found myself nudging around the food on my plate at dinner. Lucien had been out with the emissary of the Summer Court fixing the problems on the border, which meant it was just me and Tamlin.
We spend the whole meal in silence until he finally breaks it, “I have something I want to discuss with you,” he says, placing his napkin down on the table.
“What is it?” I ask, starting to wonder if maybe he saw me and Rhysand the other day.
“I’ve been talking with Beron Vanserra, and it seems that his eldest son Eris has taken a liking to you. We think it might be in the best interest of our two courts if you two were to marry.” he says casually, as if the words weren’t a huge punch to the gut.
“What?” I breathe in disbelief.
“Come on y/n this has always been our plan, to get you an advantageous marriage.” he reminds me, irritation laced in his voice.
“Not my plan Tamlin, yours.” I seethe. “Eris is a viper, I won’t marry him.”
“You’ll do as you're told and that’s final!” he screams slamming his fists down on the table making the silverware rattle.
I leave my plate full of food on the table and get up. If I wasn’t hungry before I certainly am not now. I leave the dining room and make sure to slam the door on my way out. The halls of the palace were dark save for the moonlight drifting through the windows. My mind was a mess of Tamlin’s words, I was so angry I could hardly think beyond it. At the end of the hall there was a door and even from where I was I could see the doorknob turning. A head of red hair popped through the door and Lucien stumbled to close it.
I kept my head down trying to avoid him but it was no use. The second he passed me his hands were on me shoving me into the nearest wall.
“Hello my flower,” he slurred.
“You’re drunk Lucien,” I pointed out, jerking my head away.
“Yes I suppose I am, the emissary for the summer court knows how to celebrate. We went to a tavern after completing the job on the border to indulge in some women and maybe a few drinks,” he chuckled.
“Yeah a few hundred drinks you fucking idiot,” I gripe trying to get out of his grasp but his hands only pin my wrists tighter.
“It was fun, but being around all those women made me long for my little flower,” he smiled drunkenly before kissing my neck.
For months now he’s been doing this, stealing touches whenever he could, and kissing my neck like this when he was feeling really bold, or in this case, drunk. He never took it further than that though. Never kissing, never fully fucking me, and I think it’s because he knew that it would be where Tamilin drew the line. But tonight he was drunk, in a way I had never seen him before, and I wasn’t sure if the line that had held for so many months would be held now.
“Get the fuck off me Lucien,” I growl trying to push him off again.
He completely ignores me, “You know my dear I’ve let my hands wander every expanse of this magnificent body, but I have yet to taste you,” he says lowly. “I think I’m going to change that.”
I don’t even get a chance to try and fight before his lips are on mine. He tastes like shitty whiskey and he smells like cheap perfume. It’s vile and it has me sick to my stomach. I find my opening to rip my lips off him and take it.
“Lucien what the fuck!” I scream in his face. His eyes just go down to my heaving chest, where my breasts are pushed up high due to my corset.
“And these,” he drawls before placing open mouth kisses on the peaks of my breasts. His hand lets go of my wrist and flies to my waist to pull me closer to him and I take the change of position as an opportunity to knee him between his legs.
His knees hit the ground and I run down the hall towards my room. I slam and lock the door as fast as possible, barricading myself in with a chair. I pace back and forth trying to dispel the pent up adrenaline that’s inside of me but in the end I sink to my knees and start to cry.
What happened?
That calming voice cleaves its way through my mind and it feels like a huge weight off my chest has been lifted.
“It was Lucien he tried to…” I let my voice trail off not even wanting to finish the sentence. I know the High Lord of Night is at the complete other end of Prythian but I swear I feel the ground beneath me tremble.
Did he? He asks, like he would winnow here right now and make due on his promise of ripping out his good eye.
“No, I fought him off,” I assure him.
Are you safe?
“As safe as I can be, I barricaded the door,”  I say, as my heart rate calms down.
You shouldn’t have to live in a place where you have to barricade yourself in your room.
“Well I do so I’m handling it the best I can,” I gripe at him. I would gladly change the situation if I could but I can’t. There's a silence and I can feel him ruminating over my words as I crawl into bed.
I’m sorry I shouldn’t have said it like that.
“It’s okay I understood what you meant,” I say pulling the covers up to my chin like they might protect me.
And I’m sorry for what I said about Tamlin. I shouldn’t have gotten angry with you, he’s your brother, of course you’re going to defend him.
“It’s okay, maybe everything you said about Tamlin wasn’t entirely false,” I confess remembering the conversation that had me fleeing the dining room in the first place.
What happened?
A moment passes and I think about telling him. But saying it almost makes it real and I choose not to, “I’d rather not talk about it now. Too much has happened tonight,” I say
Alright we won’t then. I sense disappointment in his voice but I am happy that he respects my wishes.
“Rhys?”I ask, and there’s a hesitation there.
Yes darling? He purrs and I can hear him practically swooning at the fact that I said his name.
“I don’t wanna be alone, will you stay up with me?” I confess feeling like I’m baring my soul.
Of course I will darling, all night if you want me to.

This has been a long-time coming post, so here it is finally! A list of my current affiliates, exclusives & mains, along with an explanation for what each term entails. ALSO: if you're on this list and you would like to be moved to another category than the one I wrote your url in (i.e: from mains to exclusives) you can ask and we'll go from there! Same goes if we've interacted and/or plotted a lot with our muses and you'd like to be listed somewhere on this post as well!
AFFILIATES = These portrayals are so deeply intertwined with my characters and they've affected my muses' canons in such a way that you simply can't separate them from my muse in their main verse (and sometimes in AUs too). My muses will bring these characters up in interactions with other people as easily as breathing, and any relevant headcanons + backstory posts will mention these portrayals as part of my muses' canons. (This applies to every sort of bond, btw - romantic, platonic, familial and enemy dynamics have been listed here.).
@deathfavor's SEIROKU, for Soma. (also exclusive)
@ofdraiocht's KANETATSU, for Naotora. (also exclusive)

EXCLUSIVES = I will only interact with ONE portrayal of the characters listed below (namely, with the portrayal mentioned here) in these specific match-ups. I will, however, interact with other people rping these characters with other muses of mine - just not with the muses I've specified below.
@truethes' ASH, for Gear.
@truethes' LICHT, for Lawless.
@destinywoven's GIYU, for Toshiro.
@ahlite's LUMINE, for Tarquin.
MAINS = The PRIMARY portrayal I'll refer to when my muse talks about a character, and the portrayal I'll most likely reply to the fastest. This is a slightly downgraded version of exclusives, in that I will interact with other portrayals of these muses in these same match-ups, but the people mentioned here will generally be my go-to for plots etc anyway. I may eventually also take more than one main per muse, IF the chemistry & required development is there.
@deathfavor's CHROLLO & KALLUTO, for Shalnark.
deathfavor's KUROKO, for Naotora.
@dragonflyhouse's SHIRO, for Aijiro.
dragonflyhouse's KOJIRO, for Soma & Naotora.
