Dropped a couple of live tracks over on our Bandcamp today. "Alexander Bay" and "Mystery Veteran" recorded at The Dank Basement in Glovertown, NL during our Maritimes tour last year. Thanks to Aaron for letting us do this in basement and for using his old school VHS camcorder to do it with.

is anyone from this app actually reading my fic or is it just dozens of ao3 users coming from the deepest shadows of the internet to read my fic and then retreat back without leaving a trace

OC Links in a modern day with their movie behavior?
I’m not quite sure what movie behavior means 😅 but if my OC Links lived in modern day, Gerudo would be training to be a massage therapist, Lurelin and Shadow would be grumbling about high school, Power would probably just be finishing high school and going right into the military, and Mystery would be a burned out veteran drifting from contract job to contract job, probably 🥲 Somebody get that guy some mental health counseling please.

actually you know what, while I still stand firmly behind "the real villain of rex's tcw-era gothic horror story is rex with a control chip in his head" I think there's another option I'm ignoring here...
in classic gothic horror, of course, a hero has two main ways to resolve the problem of the monster:
✅defeat the monster
✅become the monster
and in canon, rex - being the overachiever that he is - gets to do both!
but gothic romance introduces a third, exciting option:
✅marry the monster
and I think rexwalker is definitely at its sexiest when it involves an anakin who is anywhere on the path from rots-era anguished doubt, to full-on commitment as darth vader, turning all his immense capacity for love and his ride-or-die, damn-the-consequences loyalty towards one ordinary (brave, determined, genuinely good) clone

The problem with Elementary was, while it was fun to see a Holmes adaptation that takes his addiction seriously, it forever stuck that version of Watson in a caretaker role. Joan really wasn't given enough characterization and never seemed to be able to catch up. I stand by my opinion that they should have made her a vet with a limp. At least some significant trauma would be a reason why she needs Holmes too, outside of his Incredible Intellect. Why she's an outsider too. It would have provided something warm and understanding to their dynamic outside of arguing and disappointment.
My second big gripe with it, is how the cast generally treated Holmes? Like, as the designated Freak and Boundary Violater, it seemed like the series thought that was justification to have every other character just show such extreme contempt towards him at the drop of a hat? Even yelling at him and talking to him in such a harsh manner I would consider it extremely inappropriate in a work environment. Even if Holmes was in the wrong, I would often feel like the reaction to whatever he did was also in the wrong, if not more so lol. Like, for instance there's a plotline in season 2 where Holmes asks Watson not to fuck his brother. Clarifying that his brother is a bad person, and he just doesn't really want her too because it's his brother. This is treated as insanely unreasonable on his part for absolutely no reason lmao. Why? I just really felt like This Holmes and Watson just don't like each other. Or rather that Watson just genuinely doesn't like Holmes and feels he is a burden on her life.
And a bit of minor one, but the wierd Insistence that Holmes is straight, straight straight straight, to the point of rubbing the audiences faces in it. Like, I'm not against necessarily changing characters' genders to make Sherlock Holmes a less male-centric story or whatever, but as a character who is widely interpreted as gay or ace, it was just very weird and unnecessary? Also the Holmes and Fem!Moriarty romance obsession thing got old sooooo fast.

How can you shoot an intimate moment the way romances are done, then have ~her~ say "We're the same." in a way that reminds the audience that yes, indeed, they literally ARE?!
Again, incest-y, and not in the ~hot~ way.

Upcoming Interview on the Old Radio Station back home.
Even if you have your book purchased by a major publishing house, you’ll still find you (unless you happen to be Stephen King) have to market yourself. That said, I have a little interview happening Sunday, 18 Aug 24 at 7: 15 AM on Valley Views, KSLV Radio, Monte Vista, Colorado. KSLV and I have a long history, going all the way back to 1982. I was a often guest on their Valley Views show while…

Chris Bearne and James Norton in Grantchester (2014) S1E6
Police constable Jones is murdered and a witness hears the killer say Merlin, leading Sidney and Geordie to the Merlin factory, where Geordie is also shot though Sidney believes the gunman mistook him for his real intended victim. Helped by Mrs Maguire and Leonard Sidney discovers that the actual and intended victims served in the same unit in the war and, whilst their commanding officer, Heath, is unhelpful, his nervous wife gives Sidney the names of other ex-soldiers. One of them, Robert Miller, tells Sidney about Spreenhagen, the site where Heath's men murdered unarmed German prisoners of war. The killer is clearly out to avenge them and, defying the inept and bullying inspector Benson, Sidney cracks the case, visiting the recovering Geordie to tell him the result.
*The first painting Sydney and Amanda admire in the museum is by Philips Wouwerman's - Polish-Swedish "Deluge". The second painting is Jan Gossart's portrait of an elderly couple.
