Do you have the link to the Ben Winston interview where he talked about "very naked blonde popstar" in his kitchen with harry in the middle of the night? The original interview? It's GQ Australia i think but I can't find it. Also i think it was around the time he took her to his mother's house right? Or was it a different time
Hi, that's a great ask! thank you It is GQ Australia from May 2018, and it is not online but it is on eBay at the moment and you can read the quote in it, it isn't actually a direct quote of Ben's but it reads:
"Styles has known Winston for years, heeds his advice, trusts his advice from the outside, in. Styles even lived in his loft in Hampstead Health for a short period for time; providing a shelter away from the press and public at a time when the band were bigger than Coca-Cola. (There's a good story about Winston's wife bumping into a very naked, very blonde, very famous pop star making toast downstairs one morning if you ever get a chance to ask.)"
Also notice the article was 2018 and started and ended with 'folklore'

See people always point to 'The Naked Now' as the point when Wesley was made a Mary Sue but they ignore the fact that said episode was not only the THIRD episode of the VERY FIRST SEASON but was a fucking catastrophe of writing that was so universally hated it's been memed to hell and back by fans AND other Star Trek writers, and thus I simply do not think it's fair to judge any of the characters based on how they behaved within it.
So I'm sorry, if you wanna convince me that Wesley is a Mary Sue I'm gonna need you to give me, at the very least, some evidence gathered after season two.

The way you feel about autotune is, perhaps, a generational marker. If you came of age after the 1990s, it probably sounds like home to you, lisping, warbling, flickering in that half-human, half-cybernetic way that has defined pop and hip hop for more than a generation. But if you hit your teens before digital sounds took their place in commercial music, it might sound false and artificial, a sign that whoever the artist is behind that rack of computers, he or she can’t carry a tune independently.
And okay, I’m old, and I generally don’t like autotune, of which there’s a ton on this first solo album from the Naked and Famous frontman. But these songs are so lush and emotive and humane that I’m willing to overlook it, even acknowledge that its lost-in-the-machine fragility is part of the appeal here.
Consider, for instance, the dream-pop-ambient-dance concoction called “Li,” in which Powers duets with fellow New Zealander Chelsea Jade. It pulses insistently, but dissolves into tissue delicacy, the mesh of faintly altered vocals billowing like translucent colored scarves in the sun. “I’m a tyrant/crying in private,” confesses Powers, as Jade echoes him through hiss and static, and though there is a certain amount of artifice involved, it bolsters rather than denatures the emotion in the track.
Powers enlisted Boygenius’ Julien Baker for a couple of long-distance collaborations here, and his voice and hers intertwine with sinuous sweetness above the syncopated thump, thump, thump of “Empty Rooms.” She also sings on the opening “Little Lungs,” the disc’s loveliest and most emotionally resonant cut, with its oscillating string throbs (orchestrated by Rob Moose) and thoughtful, querying piano. There is a pensive, lonely core to these songs, however abundantly they enfold. “You leave me breathless, breathless,” sings a not-quite-human voice, as a baroque string quartet erupts in velvety lavishness. There’s spirit here and vulnerability, hedged in by dance floor beats and silky commercial pop hooks. The song keens and yearns like the most exposed confessional songcraft and no amount of digital alteration can obscure it.
