Efficient NAS Storage Solutions for Business Data:
Network-Attached Storage (NAS) solutions provide an efficient way for businesses to store, manage, and access data. Unlike traditional storage solutions, NAS Storage offers a centralized location for storing data, which enables multiple users and devices to access the information they need. With the right NAS system, businesses can enhance data accessibility and optimize backup solutions to improve workflow and minimize downtime.

So in this world of rising streaming costs and license holders unilaterally deciding to pull content from streaming channels I figured I'd compile a few guides for people who want to cut those cords. As a rhetorical exorcise I'm going to list out some guides on how someone might want to create their own local media streaming service and how to automate management and supply of content to it. ALL RHETORICAL
I'm not going to explain how to build a media server, people who go that extensive won't need these guides, but if you have the cash, and don't want to build your own server you can always buy a higher end NAS from synology or QNAP that runs docker engine and you should be good.
Please make sure to follow the instructions for each individual guide in order depending on your choices. RHETORICALLY.
First you install Docker:
https://www.virtualizationhowto.com/2023/02/docker-compose-synology-nas-install-and-configuration/
Then you install your download clients:
Newsgroups (you'll also need an account with a hosting service like Newshosting or Giganews as well as access to an indexer): https://drfrankenstein.co.uk/2021/07/30/setting-up-nzbget-in-docker-on-a-synology-nas/
Torrents (with this you'll need access to either public or private trackers): https://drfrankenstein.co.uk/2021/09/13/deluge-in-docker-on-a-synology-nas/
Then you install Jackett (this'll auto-manage all of your torrent trackers and create feeds for Sonarr and Radarr):
https://www.smarthomebeginner.com/install-jackett-using-docker/
Then you install Sonarr:
https://drfrankenstein.co.uk/2021/05/03/setting-up-sonarr-in-docker-on-a-synology-nas/
Then you install Radarr:
https://drfrankenstein.co.uk/2021/07/30/setting-up-radarr-in-docker-on-a-synology-nas/
Then you install Plex or Jellyfin:
Plex: https://drfrankenstein.co.uk/2021/12/06/plex-in-docker-on-a-synology-nas/
Jellyfin: https://drfrankenstein.co.uk/2022/09/03/jellyfin-in-docker-on-a-synology-nas-no-hardware-transcoding/
Then you install Overseerr or Jellyseerr:
Overseerr: https://drfrankenstein.co.uk/2022/03/19/overseerr-in-docker-on-a-synology-nas/
Jellyseerr (only use if you picked Jellyfin): https://drfrankenstein.co.uk/2022/09/04/jellyseerr-in-docker-on-a-synology-nas/

Tbh I'm gonna go back to an iPhone
#i love my xperia but its full of multiple bugs that sony refuses to fix or even acknowledge#on top of their customer support being a nightmare to even get into contact with#through any avenue tbh#not to mention only two years of software updates and three of security updates which like.#I'd rather not be carrying around a Huge Risk Factor in my pocket#i can say a lot of shit about apple#all of which is true but at least they have a pretty decent commitment to consumer privacy?#idk i wanted to like this phone and the android experience and for literally so many reasons I very much do!#native 3.5 mm headphone jack and expandable storage are so nice#as is the camera and 4k screen#but at the end of the day the signal is spotty#and if you have more than one wifi network saved into the phone it will reset itself constantly#and even if you don't it will just kind of Do That#not to mention that after one software update sony put out the blacks in my screen started to have a green tint#betextyiff

Farthest Frontier is one of my favorite city builders on the market rn, but the way it chooses to display information sometimes is hilarious
hate it when i go to work and catch Fractured Bone from my coworker just because tim in marketing decided to show up sick. smh.
#genuinely think Farthest Frontier is one of the only city builders doing it Right#i have played a Lot of city builders; it's my favorite genre (followed closely by photography game)#a lot of them are too punishing in the most bizarre ways#and im not talking Too Hard im talking 'if you dont plan your town Perfectly from the beginning you're Fucked'#either because resource storage is finicky or village housing is weird or because recovery from a mistake/disaster/attack is Impossible#Foundation is probably my 2nd fav but it suffers Deeply from Villager Stupid and Production Network Breakdown diseases#Kingdoms and Castles is fun but if you play with enemies on the dragon and viking raids aggressively ramp up#and if you dont stay two steps ahead and predict where they'll land you're Fucked#Fabledom doesnt have an upgrade system which is Fine but it does mean you are perpetually starting population hubs over#and i really want to like Manor Lords but every time i play it i just want it to be Farthest Frontier#i love its potential but i have not given it a fair shot#and also like. i have my critiques but i have a lot of play time on all of the above games (except manor lords)!#like i said! favorite genre!!!#but Farthest Frontier is the shining gem of what it could be#the only game that could be more perfect would be a love child of Farthest Frontier and Foundation.#i want the living paths and house building of Foundation with the everything else of Farthest Frontier

Finally got all my network infrastructure set up at work and I'm now faced with the extremely funny problem that in order to reasonably stress the storage servers I'm testing I have to mount another storage server because the built in SSD's in my initators are simply way too fucking slow to do anything.
There's something cute about how optimized real servers are that you ship like 240GB of commodity SSD in them at best and just trust that whoever is dealing with this will connect them to a high performance network store. Like how swifts can't even walk anymore.
#gainful employment#I considered booting the whole thing off the storage network but that lives on the test lab so it has a high chance of exploding on me

not me spending 2k on a custom NAS
its gonna be a bit overkill for a NAS but I could also use it as a general server for vpn, mc, etc
