I was thinking of replying to you on my post but it doesn't seem to want to work.. so sorry for this ask.
You know I like Itachi but I don't necessarily agree with what he did. Despite everything he was I think people don't give him enough credit, he's mentally ill and no one has really seen him for many years before the massacre. Also for Shisui I grant you the fact that we know very little about him canonically in the manga, but I always liked the way he looked in the anime apart from everything and he warms my heart, he seemed so nice, even if it's true that we don't know what he really was.
Otherwise for Fugaku and Tajima but especially for Fugaku I don't know what people thought of him, he was not a good father, if you love your children then you don't take them to war at 4 years old. If you love your children you don't try to mould them to act the way you would like them to act and then hate themselves, when you love your children you don't give them ultimatums.
You and I both know that Konoha as well as the whole shinobi system is full of shit like that, so it's not surprising to ask a member of the uchiha clan to slaughter everyone when he could have very well done it by a group of other AMBU ninja. Of course Itachi was a godsend because he was much less victim of the sharingan than another third person but still these people never had respect and limits (Konoha) but I expected better from Fugaku and yet Sasuke as well as Itachi loved their father, even if the latter clearly didn't make the right choices except letting himself and his wife die at the hands of his own son instead of engaging in a fight, that's really the only thing I found remarkable in Fugaku. There would have been nothing more horrible than a Fugaku/Itachi fight and moreover Fugaku as Itachi was in dog of the leaf too and let himself die to obey the orders of Konoha. Tajima and Fugaku as leaders and as fathers failed but I agree that their position was not necessarily the easiest. And no no one on earth can be perfect in every way it borders on the ridiculous but mistakes could have been avoided that's all.
Well, thank you for your interest and this is what I think in a better version.
Okay, okay. I see where you stand. I still will defend fugaku forever.
Fugaku did love his children, he loved them so much it ended up being his fatal flaw. I can see that you think fugaku letting his son kill him was one of the good things he did, but in my opinion, it was the worst part of his person (but it makes his character all the more fascinating, though I won't claim he is that interesting because he isn't). In fact, he let his people DIE because he didn't want to fight with his son. I think he should have stood up for the people he lead, the people who trusted him instead of valuing that one person over every single one of his clanmates. He defended itachi so many times and tried to draw suspicion away from him. He defended his son, it was the rest of the Uchiha who questioned itachi because fugakus love was clouding his reasoning.
Though, I will say; he is objectively a bad leader. I don't personally think he did anything bad, and he was really doing all that he could. However, he was a bad leader because he didn't put the lives of his people above his son. He trusted his son when all the evidence was against him. He prevented the Uchiha from investigating further, which could have saved all their lives. If they had found out itachi was a traitor, they may not have died. That is one of the ways fugaku got his people killed, and why he is a bad leader. Though that is countered by how he is a good leader.
He is a good leader because (for the most part, not regarding itachi) he listened to his clanmates and made decisions based on what the collective had agreed on. We don't get very much information though, or scenes, so I may get a few things wrong and some things I'm just assuming, though we all know I shouldn't make assumptions. What we do see, though, is the uchiha agreeing that a coup needs to happen, that they need something to be done, and that it isn't just fugaku planning everything, deciding everything. I think fugaku is the leader in the sense that he represents them in the village and (maybe) makes final decisions but we don't even know that. Assumptions.
I can't really say much about fugaku because we don't know much about him, but he was NOT a bad father. Sure, he didn't spend much time with sasuke, but he was a busy man. LITERALLY the leader of the clan. He supported itachi throughout the events of the story (backstory), and defended him even when the evidence pointed against his son. People don't give him enough credit.
He had no real political power inside the village and led a clan that had been shunned by the village for years and years. Who chose to join the village only to be used as military power and shoved to the outskirts and controlled by the hokage and council (and didn't even get to be apart of that, apart of the decision making.)
Now about itachi. You can like whoever you want, and I know that you know itachi wasn't a good person/didn't make the best decisions. I simply don't see why people think he's interesting. He is just another character who reinforces the main points of "village good, everyone else = bad". He doesn't dive into any areas where many many other characters haven't already been. I think he is simply uninteresting.
Itachi was also very stupid. He is said to be a "genius" but when you look at his decisions and his thought process, his stupidity becomes clear. I don't think that is bad about his character, though; I think it's what makes him interesting. Every other character saying you're a "genius" when you're really the biggest fool of all time. I do in fact like listening to crazy people talk about stuff. It is entertaining to listen to dumb people, so dumb it's funny. That's also a personal thing though.
Anyway I don't really care what characters you like, I was more intrigued by the fact that you don't like fugaku. I also don't care about tajima very much so I don't feel it my place to give my stance on him. Still, curious. Anyway thanks for actually talking to me 😂
Forgot to proofread so it may make no sense and sound really awful, as if a 3rd grader wrote it.
Thank you! You gave me something to talk about here, haha
