He listens to the echo of my voice, purging, merging his corner into mine. He can hear me. If you were ten years younger, you could be my daddy, and I could linger. Long strides and I fall in my heels. I like twisting my ankles. 

The non-sensual and the pretentious longing in me. I lie to everyone besides the ones who ask. 

The leaves fell today, and the rolling trash cans shattered their deadness. Their chosen form to die in. Nobody talks to me anymore, and I’ve sewn myself new skin. My aunt reads palms, sown myself a new destiny.

The little random things that just happened to melt from my eyes. Don't take me seriously, I’m not disturbed; this week has just left me with the feeling that there is absolutely something wrong with me.

Jacob's Ladder (1990). A peculiar, but unique psychological horror film, with wonderful performances from Tim Robbins, well shot scenes, creepy and disturbing imagery, and a surprising twist ending. Roe Away “In 1999 I finished a project that was very typological. It was pictures of trees on highway medians. I loved German objective photography when I was in school and it felt like the way to do the American road story through my interpretation of objective photography. Simultaneously, I had just moved to NYC and had started shooting commercially. I had a few outtakes from a beauty story I did for ‘Allure’ in the studio while trying to make “tough, smart, conceptual” photography. There was no denying that the outtake was as good or better than anything I intentionally made as an “artist.” I realised that the cross-pollution of images from an art practice and an applied practice was something that was more true than being a “good” photographer. Russell Haswell put me in the ‘MoMA PS1 Greater New York’ show in 2000 with that outtake of a beauty model and an image of a UPS/mail store. That was the first public showing of that approach.” - Roe Ethridge. Roe Ethridge was born in 1969 in Miami and lives and works in New York. His works are in the collections of the 'Museum of Contemporary Art’, Los Angeles, ‘Institute of Contemporary Art’, Boston, ‘Tate’, London and ‘Stedelijk Museum voor Actuele Kunst’, Ghent, Belgium. Roe Away “I know there’s a word for when influence skips a generation but I can never remember it.” - Roe Ethridge. In Tom McCarthy’s 2005 novel ‘Remainder’ a nameless protagonist spends years trying to recreate past scenarios after an accident leaves him with amnesia. In interviews, the photographer Roe Ethridge has often likened his artistic practice to a similar-sounding ‘fugue state’, a condition of amnesia and disoriented travel. Earlier shows, like the 2008 exhibition at ‘Andrew Kreps’ in New York called ‘Rockaway Redux’ encompassed the feeling of waking up on a beach with no idea of how one got there. This fugue strategy resists linear logic, moving with only scattered recollections as guides. Ethridge is known for his effortless crossover between fine art and commercial photography.
