Is there a tabletop game with a similar feel to the video game Hades by supergiant? Specifically, i think the slightly uncontrollable nature of boons might be fun for a ttrpg
THEME: Slightly Randomized Power-Ups.
Hello friend! So this is what I know about Hades: It’s a game about a greek demigod trying to escape the underworld, who gets new and different powers every time he dies. I think there are a couple of different ways you could go about trying to replicate this in play.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
LOOM, by Yuigaron.
LOOM is a Fantasy Action TTRPG where players take on the roles of fallen Gods - tricked out of their Domains - trying to reclaim their seats of power. LOOM is a combat heavy game taking inspiration from video games like Hades.
LUMEN games are excellent for replicating fast, powerful combat, which is the first thing I think about when replicating a game like Hades. It looks like the power-ups of this game are less randomized than you might like, but considering the primary inspiration of the game is Hades, it’s definitely worth checking out. LUMEN also seems like a system that could enable randomized power-ups, although you might have to hack the game a little bit to make it work out. Currently LOOM is itch-funding, and the creator is working towards custom art, a full layout, a Quickstart guide, and more! You can also pick up the free LUMEN SRD if you want to create something similar, but with a little more randomization.
The Cypher System, by Monte Cook.
The Cypher System is the critically acclaimed game engine that powers any campaign in any genre. You may have heard of it as the system that drives the award-winning Numenera roleplaying game. Lauded for its elegance, ease of use, flexibility, and narrative focus, the Cypher System unleashes the creativity of GMs and players with intuitive character creation, fast-paced gameplay, and a uniquely GM-friendly design.
If you’re looking for a game with a lot of pieces to put together, the Cypher System uses a three-part character creation system that generates wonderfully unique characters and grants each player with an impressive suite of powers. What I think really lends itself to the idea of uncontrollable character abilities is the mechanic that gives the system its name - Cyphers. Mechanically speaking, Cyphers are one-time, extremely powerful abilities that are meant to be picked up and cast aside. In settings like Numenera, these cyphers are flavoured to be powerful pieces of technology, while in others they may take the form of magic spells. The Rulebook itself is basically a toolbox to let you make your own setting, so if you want to craft a character and write up / sort a number of cyphers into random tables, you’ve got everything you need to make your very own legally-distinct-Hades to play.
Godspawn, by GRAN.
Godspawn is a simple narrative TTRPG with a gambling combat system. In Godspawn, you play as demigod beings going on adventures and gathering divine boons from your extended family of gods!
The words “gambling combat system” stick out to me here as a possible runner in the ring for a Hades-inspired game. The author describes the game as rules-lite, so you might not be balancing a lot of pieces, but the idea of gathering divine boons sounds like you’ll be picking up power-ups as you play. Definitely worth checking out!

I agree, the Collector having actual sibling relationships with the Archivists would be great. They are bad siblings for their actions, but being bad siblings doesn't mean they never cared about him. Like, in a way it feels like they were either trying to ease him into or protect him from the reality of their work by using something he liked, games. Hence, "let's play hide and seek" and "Go down there and see if the Titans wanna play". These could be manipulative siblings tricking him into doing their dirty work, but it can also be an attempt to shield the Collector from the reality of the Archivists actions.
Like, the Archivists definitely did horrific things, but that doesn't mean they were actively trying to harm their littlest brother.
Totally agree. Doing something bad doesn't equal being bad. There is ton of reasons hiding behind sb's actions and assuming anybody's morality and whether they're good or bad people basing only on one half of the story is not very nice. The reasons might be even nobel, but reality often turns around attempts and make them horrible in the end. And this can be a great example of this nasty way of thinking.
I feel that with the archivists we do the same thing as we did when Colly was first shown. Just automatically assumed they are bad just because we saw them with and through eyes of Belos and Titan trappers - people who saw them only as powerful creature and tool in their plans and dreams. This whole image of the villain similar in attitude to Bill the Cypher, but when they finally got some of their perspective and screen time it all changed. Here is the same story, we know anything about them only from Collector, who was deeply hurt by them and all they feel towards them is grief and hater(absolutely reasonable and they have right to it because damn this little star-dust ball been way through to much at this age, because of their siblings), but we never had a chance to met them on the screen and see who they really are.
And in the end, I think that the Archivists, assuming they are not cardboard caut-outs, didn't have many options to chose from being both older siblings and collectors on the extra hard mission. They had to do both which weren't really cooperative social roles. They could or lie to Colly ,to do some other nice staff, spend time just play, to keep them as far as they could from horror they had to enforced, but still be able to watch over or take them with themselves and forced them to kill every titan they met together. Both choices let the archivists to do their job as a collector and have an eye on Colly as a siblings, but lying is let's call it "less traumagenic". By archivists lies at least Colly didn't get extra self-hater issues, which they surly would get if they committed genocide with siblings and had blood on their hands. I feel that archivists probably just had to choose the lesser of two evils and they chose. They just made the best of the bad job.
Or we could be wrong and they are just bastards, which tried to get rid of the little sib and accidentally find a chance to end the job quicker. But I would be disappointed with it, as whole show was about family born, adopted and found. Dana didn't make them siblings without a reason, if it wouldn't matter they would be coworkers or some sort of caretakers.

Hey! Can you share your thoughts on Suga as an artist and a performer? This ask is inspired by all those gifs btw.
hi!! i have NOT forgotten about this ask, i promise. i was meant to answer this, like, a week ago, and then i got off track because my sister sent me a tweet and what can i say, i have the attention span and object permanence of a very small dog. sometimes. it HAPPENS. but i have not forgotten and that is why i am going to finally answer this.
under the cut because this is extremely long.
so, the thing is, it's been forever really since i've watched any bts live performances, they have just become so grating to me that i could simply NOT bear it, like. i have to love myself a little too, and i cannot deal with the rapid decline of their already subpar vocal standard, and the blatant disregard of the rap line's actual function. which is, you know. to rap. but all of this aside, i did sit down to relive the glory days of monster performances and, especially, rap line and yoongi solo performances.
which is why we will start this thing with my thoughts on yoongi as a performer. i even got out my hard drive with the bts concerts for this, which i haven't looked at in ages EITHER. *blows off the dust*
my favorite live performances he's done are: trivia: seesaw, outro: tear, cypher pt. 4, intro: never mind, boy with luv, and mic drop. i think? in that order. it's really been forever. honorable mention to interlude: shadow and black swan. black swan yoongi is something else and he shines in that song for reasons i will be getting into further down. it's kind of like the thesis of yoongi as a performer. but more to that later.
yoongi as a performer is very. hm. how do we get into this? this could (a/n: and will be!) be an endlessly long post. so, the main takeaway that i get whenever i watch yoongi is that he isn't a natural on stage. i think, whatever he does up there is hardly-fought-for and hardly-earned. yoongi is the kind of idol type that should not be an idol. that could not be suited less to be on an idol stage but he bodies it, because the yoongi who decided to become an idol is a product of his time and circumstance. the yoongi who became an idol is the kind of guy we saw in the late aughts and early 10s. the yoongi who is an idol can be traced back to a certain idol type that was super popular in the first and second generation of kpop, that only made it possible for a guy like yoongi to debut in the first place. you can draw a direct line from g-dragon, beast's junhyung, b.a.p's yongguk, block b's zico, and 2pm's taecyeon, to yoongi.
i have mentioned it before but pretty much everything bighit did with yoongi up until, like, 2016 (and especially during you never walk alone and the most beautiful moment in life) is quintessentially modeled after beast's junhyung. for good reason and unsurprisingly; beast was pretty much the biggest kpop group that existed at one point. yoongi and junhyung are the same type, visually and artistically, down to their similar vocal types. it's so obvious when you know what you're looking for. i had that epiphany when i was watching beast's 12:30 and good luck mv's.
anyways. yoongi is an introvert, above all, and you can tell when he performs. he will never know the sort of ease that hoseok possesses on stage, for example. when yoongi performs, he does not project his energy outwards. he is not a charisma bomb like hoseok or jimin, but he has a certain draw that makes you want to know more, look closer, keep your eyes on him at all times. he has a very commanding stage presence and especially up until 2018, there was a lot of anger and fury beating beneath yoongi's live performances. he mellowed out significantly for songs like boy with luv or dna, but if you watch him perform tear or seesaw or idol, you notice there is a certain sort of desperation that clings to him. that certain desperation wrote interlude: shadow, by the way. and i think he never let go of that feeling until he released that song (and black swan). everything had to be so immediate for yoongi when he performed. the energy he did project had no goal and was not aimed at anyone or anything; it just burst out of him. it's the kind of thing that drove him from the underground rap scene to the stage of wembley stadium.
that makes yoongi not the most likable performer in the world because he does not perform for anyone. when he is on stage, it is not for the crowd, it is for himself. i feel like yoongi spent the majority of his life as an idol proving something to the world at large, and to himself. to that kid that never thought he would make it there, but had all the swagger and arrogance to do whatever it took. (which is how we got idol yoongi)
something, something, this is why it all went down the drain after dynamite.
he shines in rap songs, unsurprisingly. yoongi is a passable, capable dancer, an okay singer if in his own range, but a very, very talented rapper. and his affinity for double time raps is driven by the desperation and fury i mentioned, i think, all the words he had to say had to get out somehow, no matter at what cost, and sometimes that meant squeezing them between the beats, the metronome. he is not just a 'fast talker'. in my opinion, that does a great disservice to his skillset. he is pretty good at what he does, actually. he is the most skilled rapper in bts, and bts has the second best rapline in the industry.
he is prone to arrogance, i know i already said that, and that makes him come across as plain unlikable very easily and has made him fuck up more than once. as a performer and as a human. it is not his best trait, but it works in his favor on songs like cypher pt. 4, idol, and blood, sweat and tears. it offers his rap an edge that neither hoseok nor namjoon can sell as well as he does. this is the classic idol rapper blueprint that has gone lost among the sauce of most 3rd and almost all 4th gen. we do not have performers like this anymore, because an idol has to be likable, needs to sell you a product, needs to be your potential love interest, etcetera.
yoongi as a performer: introverted, skillful, arrogant, commanding, sharp, desperate, furious, melancholic, occasionally gentle and sweet.
now, yoongi as an artist. well, that's a different beast, but not entirely. yoongi as an artist is in a way just another side of yoongi as a performer, but someone who allows us to delve deeper into who he is and what he wants to be. what he wants the public to perceive him as. which is paradox because yoongi as a songwriter and producer affords him to dig deep and say things that yoongi the idol, the performer, would never allow to be seen or heard. it's like a song allows him to confess things. and whatever is the result, well, it will be judged but not in real time. not directly out of his mouth. this is how we got the last, seesaw, his tear verse, and black swan. like, it is crazy to me that song he hasn't even written is so accurately a reflection of who he is as an artist. (the connection is dionysus -> black swan -> suga's interlude and sprinkled among that are first love, interlude: shadow and intro: never mind)
"born as an idol, reborn as an artist" led to "oh, that would be my first death i been always so afraid of," and ended at "honestly, it’s different from the future I hoped for, but that doesn’t matter, now it’s the matter of survival — however it is."
yoongi is cocky as a performer and he had no qualms of threading those parts of himself into his work, but i think what would truly kill him, and is partly why this recent development of bts is so hysterical to me, is if he would have to let go of the part of him that creates art. if yoongi would never be allowed to touch a pen or a piano, i think that would kill him. he lives and dies for this shit, and it makes up a lot of who he is as a person, too. it is no surprise that suga's interlude and black swan were released at pretty much the same time.
yoongi constantly lives with the success he has achieved and the dreams he has realized, and the dread that comes from how all of this has happened and none of it has turned out the way he had hoped for. a lot of his work is trying to come to terms with this super stardom and who exists beneath. and what happens when those dreams turn to nightmares. and how in the end, it doesn't matter, because he does it for the art. how much it pains him that he loves the success. what loving that success has done to him. the rot it infests you with, that you cannot help but crave. that kind of paralyzing fear it breathes into you.
on another note, the only reason why the most beautiful moment in life worked so well is because it was built around yoongi in so many ways. that entire narrative rises and fallswith him. he just, kind of, internalized and owned that. like, he is that manic pixie dream boy. if you are dead at the end of the story, you are dead at the beginning of it. it's so crazy! if i think about it for longer, i really do go crazy. yoongi's desperation, fury, tenderness. it all lives in that narrative. man.
i feel like i am just rambling at this point but yoongi as an artist is a safe space, a place for him to unburden himself, to do what he loves the most with no restraints, to practically stage an exorcism of a cripplingly introverted performer. yoongi as an artist allows him to speak his innermost thoughts. he is meticulous, sensitive, attentive. he has a great ear, a vision for what he wants to make, and a very definite style depending on the genre he produces for. his style reminds me a lot of the songs junhyung produced for beast (not a coincidence). so, here we are once again! full circle.
anyways. i guess that's it! i hope that answer was even just a little satisfying and i feel like i didn't even say half of what i wanted to, but this is so long already. thank you and have a good day!

Girl Genius Liveblog #216
UPDATE 216: The Joy of Researching
Last time Agatha found out there’s hidden information in Van Rijn’s book about the muses. What kind of secrets are in this book, the one Margarelotta of the smug face stole and tried to take to the forbidden library? Let’s find out!
So, this book has been written on by at least two people, as far as I know: Van Rijn and Tarvek. They and anyone else who writes secret MAD SCIENCE stuff usually use cyphers, and people here in the library know a few tricks that’ll help reveal the tricks. The problem is that most of the experts are currently out there hunting, and Agatha can’t hang around for a couple weeks. She’ll have to make do with the stuff she manages to find out herself.
Hah! She even asks for coffee. Golly, I vaguely remember what happened last time she had coffee. Maybe it’ll be a good idea, given she’s short of time, haha. Doesn’t take long for there to be Heterodyne music floating around. Has been a while since that appeared on the story at all.
While Agatha is hard at work, Hoffman finally talks with that princess about the romantic woes they’ll undergo. The princess tries to confess her crush on him, he doesn’t listen because he’s too busy brooding about the future marriage with her, unaware she’d be more than pleased to marry him – and since he actually likes her, it’s sweet of him to be willing to let go of that so the princess can presumably go and get married to whoever she wants to, unaware it’s he she wants. Hoffman is a clumsy dork, but he’s a good guy, after all.
Tumblr media
Wow, Agatha amped up with coffee once again shows to be brilliant. Barely took her five minutes. Look at this flagrant disregard of the integrity of books, being thrown around like they’re anything else! All while the research assistant assigned to Agatha freaks out. Iiiiii think Agatha may be getting banned the moment she steps out of the library.
Apparently the technology Agatha is using to research through those books with ease is, turns out, Hoffman’s invention, because he’s the scourge of Paris and causes trouble whenever he goes. Next you’ll find out he has to marry seven researchers in the library. Agatha modified the technology, made it better, and now people are wrecking the library and its sacred books because they were all itching to do something. This research assistant is going to lock himself in his room for a week once again, isn’t he.
The labor of two weeks is being done in a much shorter time. The problem is that almost none of the information is useful at all. Van Rijn, like all sparks, was kind of eccentric and hid all sorts of useless information in his book. In the end, it turns out the only thing worth checking is the cover itself. Sooo...all the hubbub about the ciphers and everything inside turned out to be kind of useless. That’s kind of disappointing, honestly. Feels like a lot of effort was done for nothing. After all, they’d have found out about the cover’s properties if they had taken a good look at it.
A few of the pages split, revealing more information – information that wasn’t ciphered at all. What Agatha finds are designs of a lock, and I immediately think of the Cobertitte vaults. Maybe Margarelotta was looking for a vault with that lock design and thought it’d be in that fortress.
Tumblr media
Oh, watch it turn out to be real. I would bet anything that this private room is real and right here in the library. There’s a hunch about where it could be, so they go to check the wall where a work of art depicted in the book is located.
Tumblr media
I mean, they really should have. If it turns out Van Rijn’s secret room really is around here, hidden behind that wall, then during the process of removing this to go display it in Paris they would have found it. This legend would have been settled soooooo long ago. So, what are the odds this priceless work of art is going to be destroyed before the volume ends? Someone keep Hoffman away from it, just in case.
Margarelotta had a key along the book, key Agatha intends to use on the mural once she finds a secret lock. There must be plenty of places to hide it, it’s not like a lock would be sizable. Would be easy to hide it in a shadow or something.
Tumblr media
A pox on everyone who sticks gum onto places. I have touched gross gum so many times.
It’s even more aggravating because it turns out there really is something in there, behind all the stuff they have stuck inside. Thanks a lot, you gum-chewing slob students. It’s all going to seem like they’ll need some cleaning to get this solved.
Tumblr media
Or they could let the Castle solve that. Must say, I’m glad the train engine is still around. I really, really doubt it’s going to get to do much around, even if it’s on Agatha’s side now, but it’s still nice to have it around. Can you tell I liked the train?
Just like Agatha hoped, there’s something hidden beneath this mural. She sticks the key into the keyhole, turns it, and opens a passageway into what turns out to be Van Rijn’s fabled Hermitorium. Or at least I suppose that is what this is, they mentioned the Hermitorium before.
Tumblr media
Doesn’t seem too big, just a central room with four offshoots. There’s a lot of neat planets up there, surrounding a...thing with red glass. Is there something inside or is that just a glass coloring trick by Cheyenne Wright? This place is as dirty and dusty as you may expect after not being round for so long, but given the work they went to find it...I’m sure something useful will be found. Most likely enough to solve the Mechanisburg time bubble problem.
But that’ll be found out next time.
Next time: next update

Teen Heroes by Appearances
Just for fun, I wondered who were the most frequently used Teen Heroes, and decided to share my data in list form.
Now, for this list I’m basically going to cut anyone in Spider-Man’s “Class” or “Age Category” because other wise the list would be dominated by his cast and that’s more work than I care to bother with.
I’m also going to split things up between X-Men and other Marvel characters, because X-Men teens are notorious for being shoved into background shots and not really having stories of their own (among other oddities with Comicivin’es system of ‘by appearance’ listing).
I’ll do an overall section, then one for the 5 rough “Classes” that have been gathered over time.  Generally, this focuses on one class a decade until the 2000s (IE: New Mutants, Generation X, and New X-Men are all classes that help define other heroes).  After that, things break down as the Sliding Timescale Marvel uses expands.
But, for ease:
Generation 1: New Mutants and related. Generation 2: Generation X and most New Warriors Generation 3: New X-Men: Academy X, Runaways, Young Avengers, etc. Generation 4: Kamala Khan and her friends.
Generation 5 is Katie Power, Molly Hayes, and Bloodstone, but there aren’t quite enough of them that have regular appearances to really make a solid top 10.  But don’t worry.  They do show up.
Anyway, here we go!
Generation 1 top 10 X-Heroes
1. Cannonball 2. Sunspot 3. Warpath 4. Madrox 5. Rictor 6. Strong Guy 7. Cypher 8. X-Man 9. Empath
There are other “heroes” in this age group, but they are REALLY obscure and this is already a deep dive. A lot of them are in the top 10, which given how old they are, makes sense.
Generation 1 Top 10 X-Heroines
1. Kitty Pryde 2. Magik 3. Rachel Grey 4.Wolfsbane 5. Moonstar 6. Magma 7. Outlaw 8. Lifeguard 9. Venus Dee Milo 10. U-Go Girl
Kitty is super used and a mainstay X-Woman for years.  Magik is has been a background character almost as long as she has been a regular hero.  Main New mutants are to be expected, as are main X-Statix members (that has had a LOT of reprints). Outlaw is a Deadpool character.
I can’t explain Lifeguard.  And, really, no one should.
Generation 1 Top 10 Marvel Heroes
1. Nova (Richard Rider) 2. Cloak 3. Speedball
Not many non-X teens in this generation.  These are the oldest members of the New Warriors, at least in terms of publication.  Most are more contemporary with the Gen-X than the New Mutants as near as I can tell.
Generation 1 Top 10 Marvel Heroines
1. Dagger 2. Talisman 3. Smasher (Kane) Same as the previous verse.  Smasher is a newer creation, but she is Cannonball’s wife...
Generation 2 top 10 X-Heroes
1. Chamber 2. Skin 3. Wild child 4. Synch 5. Thunderbird (Shaara) 6. Maggot 7. Bedlam 8. Emplate 9. Mondo 10. Vivisector
Most of Gen-X is in the top three.  Wild Child is Wolverine’s supporting cast of a sort.  Hell, Gen-X even got Mondo in this.  Man, Generation 2 does not have much to offer if Mondo and Shaara can get into the top 10.
Generation 2 Top 10 X-Heroines
1. Jubilee 2. Boom-Boom 3. Monet st. Croix 4. Husk 5. Hollow 6. Dead Girl There are others, but they have tens of appearances at best near as I can tell.  Generation X and X-Statix.  Not much else to go on.
Generation 2 Top 10 Marvel Heroes
1. Darkhawk 2. Night Thrasher 3. Phil Ulrich 4. Manifold 5. 3-D Man II/Triathalon 6. Sleepwalker 7. Slapstick 8. Stonewall 9. Rocket Racer 10. Prodigy (Slingers)
Just enough better-known teen heroes to fill this out.
Generation 2 Top 10 Marvel Heroines
1. Squirrel Girl 2. Shuri 3. Firebird 4. Elsa Bloodstone 5. Turbo 6. Silhouette 7. Jolt 8. Synapse 9. Mattie Franklin 10. Ultragirl
Man, a lot of these characters have been screwed over in later years.
Generation 3 top 10 X-Heroes
1. Rockslide 2. Anole 3. Hellion 4. Quinten Quire 5. Elixer 6. Prodigy 7. Glob Herman 8. Match 9. Gentle 10. Beak
It tickles me endlessly that Quire still deosn’t have as many appearances as the top 3 of the New X-Men. More stories, but not as many appearances.
Generation 3 Top 10 X-Heroines
1. X-23 2. Pixie 3. Armor 4. Hope Summers 5. Surge 6. Dust 7. Mercury 8. Blindfold 9. Bling! 10. Trance
X-23 and Pixie being on top is pretty obvious.  One got a mini and is constantly in the background, and X-23 is the Harley Quinn of Marvel Comics.  If I didn’t include Hope in this generation (She is hard to pin down), the #10 spot would go to Loa.
Generation 3 Top 10 Marvel Heroes
1. Wiccan 2. Alex Power 3. Amadeus Cho 4. Noh-Var 5. Hulkling 6. Thunderstrike (Eric) 7. Eli Bradley 8. Rage 9. Chase Stein 10. Reptil
Generation 3 is probably my favorite Generation.  So this list tickles me. Wiccan gets the most appearacnes for many reasons.  Eli Bradley ranks where his replacement doesn’t.  Reptil is in the top 10 (#11 is Victor Macha).  Jut, a lot of amusement for me.
Generation 3 Top 10 Marvel Heroines
1. Kate Bishop 2. Julie Power 3. Nico Minoru 4. Quake 5. Spider-Girl (Corazon) 6. White TIger (Ava Ayal) 7. Karolina Dean 8. America Chavez 9. Hazmat 10.  Finesse
More amusement.  Kate gets the top spot from all the solo stuff she’s been doing.  Julie is the ‘oldest’ character, and Nico is the most popular Runaway.  That she outdid quake surprises me.   Hazmat made it into the top 10, as did Finesse.
Generation 4 top 10 X-Heroes
1. Genesis 2. Broo 3. Kid Gladiator 4. Goldballs 5. Jimmy Hudson 6. Eye-Boy 7. Squid Boy 8. Zero 9. Leech 10. Artie Maddicks
As I’ve said, differentiating between the generation of Nico Minoru and the generation of Kamala Khan is REALLY hard.  Zero might be in Generation 3, but so little thought was put into defining the new Generation on the X0-Men side of things, the intermix regularly. It’s just a mess.
Generation 4 Top 10 X-Heroines
1. Oya 2. Transonic 3. Sprite 4. Negasonic Teenage Warhead II 5. Amko Kobayashi 6. Nature Girl 7. Aero I I’m sure there’s more to fill out this generation, but after I hit “The third eldes Guthrie child who was depowered and never spoken of again” I figured it was time to stop.
And now for the overall numbers!
Top 10 X-Heroes
1. Cannonball 2. Sunspot 3. Warpath 4. Rockslide 5. Jamie Madrox 6. Anole 7. Warlock 8. Rictor 9. Hellion 10. Strong Guy
An interesting mix, really.  Rockslide hasn’t had many stories, but he is very easy to work into the background.  So is Anole.
Top 10 Marvel Heroes 1. Franklin Richards 2. Nova (Richard Rider) 3. Cloak 4. Miles Morales 5. Wiccan 6. Alex Power 7. Amadeus Cho 8. Noh-Varr 9. Nova (Sam Alexander) 10. Hulkling
Franklin has grown up a bunch since the 1960s, despite his own attempts to keep everyone he knows young.  Miles is the newest character in the roster, with but has earned his high placement.
Top 10 X-Heroines
1. Kitty Pryde 2. Magik 3. Jubilee 4. Rachel Grey 5. Wolfsbane 6. Moonstar 7. X-23 8. Boom-Boom 9. Pixie 10. Siryn
Again, remember, Kitty Pride is the same age as the ‘average’ New Mutant (who themselves ranged in age from 14 to 17), and easily got to the top.  Despite being dead for so long, Magik also got a lot of appearances in.  X-23 is one of only 2 characters (the other being pixie) to break into the top 10 from post-2000. Monet just falls in at 11.
Top 10 Marvel Heroines
1. Dagger 2. Cassie Lang/Stinger/Stature 3. Valeria Richards 4. Kate Bishop 5. Kamala Khan 6. Katie Power 7. Squirrel Girl 8. Molly Hayes 9. Nico Minoru 10. Quake
An interesting assemblage.  Cassie is the ‘oldest’ character, but she has only been a hero for a short period of time.  Kate has had a few solos to her name, Kamala is a blockbuster. Squirrel Girl is a meme gag, and Quake got on TV early.
Molly and Nico are the odd ones, mostly because of their order.  Molly does not have as many stories as Nico does, but because she was tied into a few X-Men stories, she got lumped in with their international reprints that Comicvine keeps track of.  Otherwise, I doubt she’d be in the top 10.
Meaning Anya Corazon would likely have the #10 spot.
But, this is just of going off the Comicvine numbers.  If someone wants to run more accurate numbers...
Good luck!

The Matrix: How They React To You Joining The Crew
Anon:  Wow!You write Matrix headcannons? That’s so great! Could you possibly do a how the Nebuchadnezzar crew (the whole crew from the 1st film that is) would react to you joining: Had this idea of escaping the Matrix sort of by accident after intensely exploring a glitch & waking up in the real world comes as an even greater shock than usual -so what would they do to ease this transition for you or what their attitude towards you would be in general? (Heh, I hope that made some sense) Many thanks!
Neo: He’s curious about how you randomly showing up will play into the future fight, and he believes that you have something to do with him. However, he has no idea how it all comes together, so he spends lots of time talking to you in an attempt yo understand why you’re there.
Morpheus: He is fascinated by you, and enjoys training you. However, when it comes to your fate, he leaves it up to The Oracle, and he doesn’t ask questions. He doesn’t really talk to you much outside of training, either, simply because he wants to keep a respectful distance while you figure yourself out.
Trinity: There’s a little bit of jealousy from her, only because you seem to be on Neo’s mind a lot and he spends a huge amount of time with you. For that reason, she doesn’t really like you. However, she understands that you are unique in that you accidentally got out of the Matrix.
Cypher: He is definitely working on a way to make a profit off of you. He’s sure that the Agent would love to get his hands on you, so he tries to get to know you better as a way to find some weakness that will help him get to you. But he’s very suave and you don’t really catch on.
Dozer: He welcomed you on to the ship with open arms, as if you were a long lost friend. He just talked to you like he had known you for years and just hadn’t seen you in a while. He definitely did the best out of everyone to make you feel at home.
Tank: Tank develops a major crush on you not long after you come on board. He spends a lot of time with you, so it was just a matter of time before you both caught feelings. You love spending time with him, and you really enjoy listening to him talk about all the mechanical craziness he goes through.
Mouse: He gets very shy around you, and tries to stay away. He just doesn’t understand you and the unknown kind of makes him nervous. So it took him a solid month to utter a word to you, and even then, he still doesn’t talk to you unless it’s an absolute necessity.

this is a measure existing in both stores royal blue bridesmaid dresses*(#@)_)!+
Shopping ball cook: 5 tips to work you comprehend the perfect position Shopping set formal is an get that doesn't necessary any care of a teenager! I newly went shopping in a circle dress when I was cardinal period old, daughter, and it was often writer complicated than I imagined. I don't name having so some strive discovery a set vesture, but again, Times fuck denaturised and so jazz the costs. Here are cinque tips to serve you forbear your tiddler pronounce the perfect party set without losing your aim! 1) turn shopping earlyish
Tumblr media
We started shopping in rude May for a quantification company on June 8. It was actually too late. Some stores that sell organization dresses now do not decline exteroception of which education their customers go to, and testament not trade writer than one of the selfsame agree for a alumna of the unvarying edifice. The content is to accomplish trustworthy that the unvaried embellish doesn't pretence up at much than one graduation organization of the participants. Earnestly ... this is a measure existing in both stores royal blue bridesmaid dresses, so before you go, your girl's foremost measure is purchase her challenger groom that no one else at her cultivate will be competent to buy at that accumulation. My girl vanish in compassion with a unripened strapless neaten imprint on our rank day of shopping. But because other human at her education had bought the aforementioned coif in added cast, and two other girls had bought the identical frock in undiversified flag, they cerebration there would be too many of that cook to the chunk prooomdresslalamira0102 and refused to delude it to her. 2) Pioneer a budget Company dresses are commercialism between $ 160 and $ 400. It seemed looney to me that teenagers, or their parents, are forced to pay so some for a recipient apparel at nighttime. A teenager may not dare to be caught in the self coiffe for two eld in a row for boy and sr. prom, so fundamentally unless you deceive the coiffure subsequent, the money instrument be spent on a buckram daylight beautify for one nighttime. And then, of education, unless there are already a yoke of position in your bathroom that gift go with the coiffure, which in most cases of dubiousness, the outgo of new position and new nightclothes to turn the garb should be included . This is especially aline if you make needs a bra without straps. If you already acquire a brassiere-free bra and position you arrangement to jade, it saves a lot of disturbance and money, but you stomach them with you when shopping for the habilitate so you can piddle certain they occupation with the make you message acquire. Deal the value of the tog shortly with your daughter. If you only eff a predestined amount of your budget that you can put into a receiver frock, avow her, and she'll mortal to neglect the interruption, and buy the accessories as fit. Or, if her girl's employed, she strength get to buy her own clothing.
Tumblr media
3) be lawless to intelligent in different places Although there are no shops mercantilism only dress make wedding dresses miami, agape to additional opportunities for recipient dresses. King's ceremony stores fuck a sort shelf thrown with bridesmaid dresses from them for a song. In improver, umteen business stores are conveyance titular accumulation now, and can be purchased for a cypher of the toll. If your daughter doesn't requirement to go shopping at the anesthetic center, go an hour unlikely her area to see a shopping paseo that has stores region her area where additional girls couldn't have been so venturesome to explore. And, there's also the conception of renting the clothes now. Explore the internet for stores adjacent you that engage the formal weary of the greeting, or online dealing clothes that can be transmitted to you, and returned you the very way. They oftentimes toll a reckon of the underivative, sometimes decoration costs, and since they present exclusive use one dark, withal, it faculty not be requisite to record it ornament in your private for being! 4) Sensing for Sales and Coupons Watch for income and rebates. Stores suchlike Macy soul coupons in the report regularly. Painter bridal has oft random online linen that are billed as spousal dresses, but are truly favourable for starchy fag, and are oftentimes sold at an Net terms exclusive. Also bridesmaids embellish and nominal dresses for agreement in the shop on the internet and in the vent clothes. These can commonly be returned if your daughter doesn't same it. I bought my ceremony arrange this way, at one show I realized that they also had a $ 10 voucher for naught statesman than $ 100. I took it to an excellent marketing soprano, with a voucher and we preferred it! Dillards Division Keep offers a heavy activity online at a healthier cost than numerous conventional accumulation stores. I bought a ceremonious make for a voyage at Dillards in the yesteryear for $ 99 and when it came in it was a perfect fit and I equal it.
Tumblr media
5) Alter a camera phone or her If likely, support a mortal along. Although you can shipping your judgement, you are the care, and of a varied beginning. Most guys ease essential the approval of their peers so having a mortal along can modify you reason writer snug with a strain and music of a tog. Camera phones are effective and, above all, if a person could not descend, so you can see a pic and displace it to a associate for the advice of a mate. That give go a weeklong way in your pleasure stratum to spend a lot of money for a tog that is not unhazardous, and testament also forestall you the aching of having to go backwards to the keep, if she decides a few life after she should hold bought it. Yet, ball shopping for the ready can be a wonderful, or stressful live, or a bit of both. Existence embattled ascending of instance helps to excrete the get go more many smoothly, and in gathering constructive memories of a care and girl in the period to arrive light blue formal dresses short. You May Also Like: if all of their so-called 'treatments' fail to make the cyst ... ^&(*()*It really is present with find more weddings happening ... there are individuals looking to find the peace... - mermaid ... 无标题 — One will find many exciting choices for Sacramento... flower girl dresses — it could be great to go with genuine ...

Do you have any favorite songs by BTS that you would recommend to your followers? Idk if any fans of them (aside from you) follow me, but I'd love to spread the word since they're a good band <3 Also, I hope your day was awesome and your finals went/go well. ❤️
god this is way harder than i anticipated since i genuinely love their entire discography (since i have a Thing where when i get into a group i try to listen to everything they put out asap)
also, my day’s been pretty good! finals are a toll but i’m managing to push through. i hope yours go well too, kendra ❤️
as for my answer, i decided to just list some of my favorites from all the albums/ep’s because otherwise, i have no way of choosing favorites. they’re gonna be list under the cut so as not to spam the dash any more than necessary
warning : this is Super Long because i’m the most extra person alive when it comes to the things/people i love
there’s a great deal of different types of songs here - while i didn’t do the best job at describing the genres of each one, i’m sure there’s something out there by bts that may appeal to you a bit so give a couple of these songs a try. i’ve provided links as well for ease of access (either to a music video, if applicable, or to a lyric video that has english translations of what they’re saying).
obviously, i wasn’t able to encompass their entire discography (even though i wanted to - it’d have just taken up so much space … not that this already doesn’t do exactly that) so feel free to add on your favorites that i may have missed! also, do feel free to let me know if you enjoyed any of these or just drop me a message if you wanna talk about bts in general because i really enjoy that as well ❤
➜  2 COOL 4 SKOOL
no more dream : this is a Must because it’s their first song and it’s always nice to take a blast to the past to see how much they’ve grown since then; not to mention that this song is still genuinely really good even now
좋아요 (i like it) : the melody of this song is really nice to me and the ‘i like it pt 2′ (which is in japanese) has a dance practice. personally i prefer the japanese version a bit more because of how it sounds but this one is still a perfect classic
outro: circle room cypher : this one’s not exactly a song, per se but it’s grown to be a favorite of mine. for one, because i stan all the cyphers so hard so to have a version that’s more lighthearted and includes all the members is really nice. idk, this track just puts me in a really good mood every time i listen to it
➜ O!RUL8,2?
n.o. : this is an iconic track, truly. there’s a mv for this and i think it’s quite a nice intro to the sort of stuff that bts talks about in their songs
진격의 방탄 (attack on bangtan) : honestly, this song just gets me hype. it’s upbeat and the performances of it were always fun to watch
팔도강산 (satoori rap) : i’m including this one because i’m a complete sucker for the rap line and i love hoseok’s satoori so much so this is really a win for me on all fronts
➜ SKOOL LUV AFFAIR
어디에서 왔는지 (where did you come from?) : an extremely underrated track. in some ways it’s essentially bts flirting with you, though before i even knew what the lyrics were saying it was appealing to me because of hoseok’s satoori part so if you’re into that like me, this is a song for you
하루만 (just one day) : another song with a mv and while it’s one of their slower title tracks, it’s definitely not bad! in fact, it’s one of my favorites. such a feel good song and also quite underrated, in my opinion
tomorrow : one of my early hardcore favorite songs by them. i don’t even really know why it resonated with me as much as it did, but i say it’s worth a listen!
cypher pt 2: triptych : of course all of the cyphers are most definitely worth a listen but pt 2 is one of the really good ones, in my opinion. it really does a great job at displaying how strong the rap line is, despite their differing flows
outro: purpose : if you love pretty, pleasant sounding songs, this is a good bet! it’s one of my favorite outros they have out
➜ DARK & WILD
호르몬 전쟁  (war of hormone) : a main reason that this song is on the list is because it was actually the first bts mv i ever watched and as a result, holds a special place in my heart. while the actual lyrics can be questionable to some, i do think the mv is worth a watch for the Looks the members are serving in it
cypher pt 3: killer : this is one of the most Infamous cyphers of all time. if you only wanna listen to one cypher, then it should probably be this one. another strong addition to the list of reasons of why bts’s rapline is amazing
rain : as the name suggests, i think this is a really pretty track to listen to if you wanna wind down on a rainy day. it’s chill and easy listening but just as good as any of the other more upbeat songs
여기 봐 (look here) : ever since someone mentioned that this song reminded them of a bollywood song, i’ve latched onto it pretty hard which is why it made the cut onto this list
➜ THE MOST BEAUTIFUL MOMENT IN LIFE PT 1
i need u : an iconic title track with equally iconic choreography. because i know watching mv’s is usually more fun than just reading lyric videos, don’t be surprised that i included so many title tracks
잡아줘 (hold me tight) : frankly, one big reason i loved this song is because taehyung wrote part of it. it’s also a really soft enjoyable song
쩔어 (dope) : this is The most iconic of their title tracks, dare i say it. the mv was at least. i remember it was their first one to hit 200m views and easily one of my long time favorites by them. so, this is another must-watch, in my opinion
➜ THE MOST BEAUTIFUL MOMENT IN LIFE PT 2
intro: never mind : yoongi’s voice and the passion in it is one of my most favorite things ever so if you want to see more of that, this is a good track!
run : another super good title track with another great mv. tbh, all of bangtan’s music videos are always so amazing and i’d definitely recommend checking out all of them
butterfly : you can check out either the prologue mix (which only has the vocalists) or the other version which includes the rapper. despite being a softer song, the rapline manages to work really well in the song and the vocal line sound so beautiful
뱁새 (baepsae/silver spoon/crow-tit/try-hard) : this song has so many different translations but baepsae is really That Song. it was the first song i ever listened to by bts before i ever even knew it was their song so it holds a lot of meaning for me in that regard. it’s also just genuinely an amazing song, super catchy and upbeat and i feel like the majority of people really enjoy it so it’s a catch-all
outro: house of cards : it’s disappointing to me that i couldn’t list every single song by bts, especially all the ones on this ep so i decided to wrap this one up with another iconic vocal line song. this is a common fan favorite so i definitely recommend it
➜ THE MOST BEAUTIFUL MOMENT IN LIFE: YOUNG FOREVER
불타오르네 (fire) : one of the most hype title tracks, in my opinion. it’s really catchy, really fun, and very visually appealing. as always bangtan never disappoints and i think this’ll be an enjoyable song for most
save me : another underrated song. i especially love hoseok’s part in this song so keep an eye out for that. it doesn’t seem to be everyone’s cup of tea but i really enjoy it personally, which is why it’s included on this already extensive list
➜ WINGS
intro: boy meets evil : easily one of the best intros to an album that bts has ever had, not to mention hoseok’s Amazing choreography that he put so much hard work into. how could i not promote it? 10/10 should watch
피 땀 눈물 (blood, sweat & tears) : one of their most visually appealing mv’s so if you’re a hoe for aesthetics like i am, this is an amazing mv to go and watch. the choreography is amazing (and pretty damn attractive as well) and the song is really catchy. a perfectly deserving award-winning song
awake : every single solo track on this album is perfection and such an intriguing look into all the members. i want to list every single one of them but because this is already so extensive of a list, i’m just gonna give jin the promo. awake is a softer song that’s proof that jin is an amazing vocalist and deserves more time to shine. please go appreciate him and the song
cypher pt 4 : how could i not promote the last cypher we got (thus far)? super catchy song and the rap line goes Off as always. if you’re a fan of the other cyphers you’ll probably enjoy this one as well
둘! 셋! (그래도 좋은 날이 더 많기를) – [2!3! (still wishing for better days)] : this is a song that bts wrote for the fans and essentially emphasizes the strong bond we have with them. it’s really touching; especially when it’s sung at a concert and the fans sing along. easily one of my favorite songs ever by them because of how hopeful and uplifting it is
봄날 (spring day) : another one of my favorite title tracks with an equally beautiful mv. if you’ve enjoyed the ballad tracks that they’ve had thus far, you’ll definitely enjoy this wistful track
not today : this is usually the first track i recommend to new fans of bts because i feel like it’s usually the most accessible one for people who’ve never listened to kpop before. the mv is also very well done so if you appreciate cinematography, there are some amazing shots here that you’ll probably enjoy
outro/interlude: wings : there’s two versions of this song. the interlude is shorter and the outro (which is the one i’ve linked) is the longer version. take your pick since they sound the same in both. it’s really upbeat and just a super fun song
➜ LOVE YOURSELF: HER
intro: serendipity : this song, y’all … the music video is so soft and beautiful and jimin’s voice in it is absolutely angelic. it’s, quite frankly, one of my favorite songs of this entire year and i feel like most people’ll at least be able to appreciate the vocals and the mv, even if they don’t find that the song itself is their cup of tea
pied piper : many people felt mixed opinions on the lyrics of this song but i thought it was interesting take that corresponded with the title of the song. i wouldn’t exactly say it’s ‘ironic’, per se, but it’s more than what it seems on the surface. lyrics aside, it’s a beautiful song and one of my favorites on this album
mic drop : another iconic song starring the rap line. unlike the cyphers this actually includes the vocal line as well in the chorus so while it retains the same sort of feel as the cyphers, there also is a nice taste to it. there’s a remixed version with a mv out that has more english, but the beat of the original holds a special place in my heart
➜ OTHER MISC SONGS
good day : this song is actually from their japanese album, ‘youth’ and it’s one of my feel good songs when i’m feeling low. maybe it’ll have the same effect on some of you guys as well. another song that gives me similar happy vibes is another japanese song of theirs called ‘for you’; please give it a listen too!
arirang (cover) : this is bts’s cover of the traditional korean folk song of the same name. it gives me really nice vibes and i really enjoy their vocals here. i wanna list a lot of their other cover performances here too, like ‘as i told you’, ‘rainism’, ‘perfect man’, etc but you can check those out later if you want
come back home (cover) : another cover that i really really enjoyed by bts! they added their own spin to a classic by seo taiji and boys and it’s super catchy and upbeat
agust d : this is yoongi’s title track of his solo mixtape that was released in 2016. it’s one of the other early bts related songs i listened to before properly stanning the group. it’s a great example of what a skilled rapper yoongi is. if you enjoy this one, please listen to ‘give it to me’ as well!
crystal snow : this is actually a very new song (relative to the others i listed here) because it came off of their new japanese album. the vocals in this are stunning and i think it’s well worth a listen

Do you think it is important to teach children how to be responsible for their dental routines?
I think it’s important for kids to develop a good relationship with tooth care. If it’s an enjoyable experience children will naturally take over more and more of it as they get older. Just like with walking and talking, kids want to be more competent at life. On their own schedule. Just like adults, they resist being pushed into activities they don’t yet want to do. If it’s stressful, they’re resist even more.
Until kids have naturally taken over, parents should be responsible. Tooth care is too much responsibility to hand over to a child who isn’t interested in it.
Some ways to ease kids into dental care:
Recognize that when kids first get teeth that having a pleasant experience with tooth care is way more important than clean teeth. If they had fun holding a brush, chewing on it, or opening their mouth to let you touch their teeth with a brush or cloth, that’s a win.
Unless a child enjoys toothpaste, water will work just as well at the beginning.
Let the child brush your teeth. Give them a tip or two when they seem open to it (they do want to be more competent at grown up tasks), but make a good experience be what counts.
Brush teeth together. As a kid I remember it took aaaages all alone while the rest of the family was doing something more interesting. When it’s a companionable activity, kids will brush better and longer.
There are more ways than brushing to help teeth stay cleaner. It can cause panic and a need to force kids when parents believe there’s one and only one way to accomplish something and it must be done perfectly for it to work. Breathe. Fear will cause more problems than it will solve.
Let the child pick out their own toothbrush and toothpaste. Expect to have to go through several purchases. Don’t let penny pinching get in the way of creating a good relationship with dental care. In the long run, a child finding products they’re happy with will be pennies compared to forced dental work.
Some kids are very sensitive to textures and tastes. Be the one they trust the most to help them find a solution.
There are some ideas at Toothbrushing Ideas. Here are the ideas From Brushing Teeth to Cleaner Teeth:
My son Jude (4) had his first visit to the dentist the other day. Six cavities! We've come up with a game to play that he really loves; inspired by his love of computer war games! Sergeant Green (his green toothbrush) enters the battle ground, shooting and brushing away all the acid spraying bad bugs. When Sergt. Green's health is running low from battle, Jude holds out his hand with boxes of health for collection. When the battle is over, Sergt. Green retires for the day, returning for combat before Jude goes to bed. All good fun!! — Kathryn
When our boys did not like to brush their teeth, we bought a few toothbrushes and types of toothpaste for each of them. It turned it from "let's brush" to which toothbrush, which bathroom, which toothpaste. With all the choices they forgot they did not really like having their teeth brushed. — Amanda
My son has sensory issues and hates the feel of bubbles in the mouth. He brushes with that pink kiddie mouthwash stuff on his brush.
My three year old likes me to scream while she brushes. "Haha we're hiding in the teeth. Yummy teeth. Oh no, here comes the toothbrush .… Aaaaaahhhh, helllp, noooooo, noooooooooo! We'll hide on the top teeth! No, she's on to us! Arrrgh!" And on like that for however long it takes to get the job done, or until she gets bored. It works best if I really ham it up. Alternatively, brushing while listening to or singing Weird Al Yankovic's "Microscopic Bacteria" is entertaining and motivating. — Tamara
I read somewhere recently (I think ... I don't think I came up with this one on my own) that someone suggested looking for foods in the mouth. I brush Storm's teeth on the bed (very rarely in the bathroom, because he prefers lying in bed) and just have an overhead light, so sometimes it's hard to see. Recently, I started telling him if he opened wide enough, maybe I could see all the way down to his stomach to see what he ate for dinner -- that did the trick. So, I rattle off things I remember him eating, ask about stuff if I need more time or forgot and it works wonders. Silly comments like "Look at all those pieces of hot dog!" or "Do I see a tiny bit of grape in there?... Yes, I think I do!". Sometimes, when I'm finished brushing his teeth, he'll ask to brush mine. Wyl (9), seems to like company when he brushes. — De
I was expecting but didn't see it, the use of a water pick. That is what my youngest is using these days. She puts toothpaste in her mouth and kind of chews it around and then uses the water pick to spray off food and get in between teeth. She refuses to use a toothbrush, she really dislikes brushing. We've tried all kinds of toothbrushes and toothpastes, and none of them really got her into brushing her teeth. The water pick works great.
We also use the fluoride free Tom's apricot toothpaste, since she doesn't like any of the other flavors. The fluoride free Tom's strawberry was her favorite but we can't find it anymore, it has banana and fluoride in it now and is no longer enjoyed. — Jenny Cyphers
I have always looked for cartoon characters in my kids mouth while I brush their teeth. We have looked for Spider-man, Batman, Star Wars characters, Backyardigans, etc. Sometimes it gets a little difficult because the kids giggle so much : ) In the beginning I didn't even called it brushing teeth. I make up some sort of silly name for it, and I very dramatically "play" with their teeth and the left over "food" in their mouth. Tooth brushing is just another playful moment in our house. — Jeanette Crichton
It is interesting, I've just been doing a quick and cursory exploration of the world of oral bacteria via google and found this: Prevention - Dental Caries which shows that the earlier you get mutans streptococci the more prone to caries/cavities you are, with absolutely no discussion of how much you brush or floss your teeth. Here's an abstract about the natural history of Streptoccus sanguinis (a benign oral bacteria) Natural History of Streptococcus sanguinis in the Oral Cavity of Infants: Evidence for a Discrete Window of Infectivity I think I like it most because it refers to oral bacteria as "indigenous biota of the human oral cavity". Oh, how I love science!! There is this talk abstract: Colonization of mutans streptococci in caries-free Swedish teenagers which found no difference in colonization of mutans streptococci in caries free Swedish teenagers and caries prevalent Swedish teenagers. Similar finding here: Colonization with Mutans Streptococci and Lactobacilli and the Caries Experience of Children after the Age of Five with the added comment that it isn't diet that is doing it. Oh, I could do this for a long time.
It's really cool. It isn't scary, or something to be used to scare a child with, they are cavities, holes in your teeth caused by acids. The bacteria, the indigenous biota, are just living there, they are indigenous. Well, they are indigenous from about 30 months old, on average. Yes, toothbrushing makes a difference Caries Research 1999 Vol. 33, No. 2 (an old paper, 1999, but cool for the British social class stuff -- I'm assuming that's what the manual versus non-manual mention is about). A big difference. But it isn't going to keep you clear of caries if you are prone to getting them.
Hard cheese is supposed to be quite good for regulating the population of mutans streptococci, quick search shows that lactobacilli tends to keep populations of mutans streptococci in check. Xylitol has been shown to reduce plaque and when mother's chew it for the first couple of years of their child's life the colonization of the child's teeth by mutans streptococci is delayed and thus caries are less likely to occur. — Schuyler Waynforth
It turned out that he just didn't like the toothpaste. He had switched from a fruit flavored kid toothpaste to a minty adult paste. He discovered that he hates mint, but didn't realize that he could just switch back to his old toothpaste. Now he uses that Crest citrus flavor, which has some mint in it, but he doesn't seem to mind that. — Carron Armstrong
Isn't it funny when a really big deal turns out to be about something so simple?!? I laughed when I read this, because a few weeks ago Jade (one of my 3 1/2 year old twin girls) told me she didn't ever want to brush because the toothpaste is 'howibwe' … it was kids minty something or other. After she told me that we went out and found Tom's apricot flavour (tastes like jam) and she's been brushing non-stop ever since. Oh, and they also got to pick out a fancy motorized Dora toothbrush which delights them to no end :). — Jodi Bezzola
How about using xylitol mints and gum instead of brushing?? check Xylitol.org — Alex Polikowsky

If your child has weak enamel over-brushing can CAUSE cavities as well. I have strong enamel and take horrid care of my teeth. I just turned 37 and have no cavities. Both my parents have full dentures and both brothers have mouthes full of fillings. But I can't for the life of me see telling a child that the "bugs" will bore through the teeth until the child screams in pain will bring you closer or make the child think you are nice. FWIW I'd leave the kid alone. Tell the kid about brushing, why we do it and then leave it be. My kids are not forced to brush their teeth. But they have several flavors of toothpaste, different brushes, and gauze pads to use instead of brushes if they wish. It's their mouth … I leave them alone about it. — Karen Swanay
The point was that it often doesn't help to overstate consequences to children, because it can erode trust if the outcome isn't what Mom said it would be. I think the use of color tablets or other items might be great for some people! The question is whether you should tell children they'll get cavities and pain if they don't brush.
Because some will rarely brush and never get a cavity, others will brush faithfully and get lots! We don't want to mislead children in order to get them to do something. That's all. — Ren
To eat an apple or carrot or piece of fullcorn bread [bread made of whole corn grain] cleanses the teeth good enough. — Ulrike Haupt
I have flossed and brushed every day for my entire 41 year old life, and yet every trip to the dentist shows up yet another cavity or some other form of decay. It's just the way I'm built. My husband on the other hand never flosses, never brushes at night and has never had a cavity. — Jodi Bezzola
I have a child in the exact situation ... I made sure to provide lots of implements ... interesting power brushes, milder toothpaste (or even no toothpaste!) and just modeled good dental hygiene. Making it a battle isn't going to accomplish much other than proving to him that you don't trust him and that he can't trust you. Forcing a child who has what sounds like sensory issues and has a history of dental issues is really setting him up for difficulty. My son has gotten better about brushing now that he's noticed that sometimes people have bad breath ... he's 6 now and will say "wow mom you need to brush" I always say "yes I had garlic for dinner " hoping that he will connect that some foods make your breath stinkier and that some things like poppy seeds, strawberries, blueberries etc make your teeth look icky if you don't brush. Ultimately I leave it up to him .… I can fix his teeth but his spirit might be trickier! — Lisa B
I just hand them their toothbrushes with toothpaste on them in the tub and they brush. I suggest teeth brushing every morning/every evening and sometimes they go for it and sometimes they don't. — Jodi
I am 42. I can eat as much or as little as I please, of whatever I please. I can brush my teeth or not. I can even DRIVE to the fast-food place when I want, and eat what I want there. I'm the one with the debit card, so I can buy what I choose at the grocery store. Why aren't I choosing only sweets and Doritos, and filling my cart with stuff that's barely food? Because I prefer how I feel when I eat food as close to the source as possible, mindfully. I feel better when I eat that way. Why do I brush my teeth? Because my mouth feels better when I do, and actually, I've found my mood is better, too. I found that out by not brushing my teeth. I had to give myself total freedom when we started this journey, too. Now - everything is a choice. Everything. I don't do things because my mom told me it would be good for me. I do things because I WANT to, because of how my choices make me feel. — Caren
When I was a kid I remember being sent to brush my teeth alone and it took hours. Okay, not really ;-) It felt like hours!
So what I did with my daughter was to do it with her. We talked and joked. I made sure she had a brush and toothpaste she liked. I'm sure I must have mentioned preventing cavities in there at some point. Eventually it became automatic. Sometimes she would say she didn't feel like brushing. I'd say don't. And she'd say what if I get a cavity and we'd talk about the difference between habitually not brushing and skipping once. I can't remember her choosing not to brush but it would have been okay if she had. — Joyce
For brushing teeth we've made it as easy as possible. We used to brush our teeth together, now the boys prefer to brush together. Some kids like a small mirror to watch themselves. Toothbrushes and toothpaste can be moved. Another bathroom? Kitchen sink? We also let the kids pick out their brushes. Right now they really like their electric power ranger brushes! We also buy natural toothpaste (Tom's of Maine kids strawberry) which has a mild flavor they don't seem to mind. We also bought flossers, rather than using regular dental floss. My older son has had experience with cavities, so he doesn't seem to mind brushing and flossing so much anymore. for my younger one (3) as long as I don't push he will let me help him out once a week or so. the other times he does it himself. I know its not perfect, but we have sort of made a game with the "EEEE! AAAAAHHHH! OOOOHHHH!" mouth shapes. :-) — swissarmywife
I encourage my girls to brush and buy them fun toothbrushes, child friendly floss, mouthwash etc. At their recent dental visits dd8 has 5 cavities she'll be going back to have filled and dd 5 has 3.
Now my autistic son who almost never allows us to brush his teeth went for his check-up last week and once again has 0 cavities. — Nicole Willoughby
We use non foaming, non fluoride toothpaste (no spitting required), so brushing and flossing teeth happens in bed, right before story. I read a story and maybe rub her back a bit, and she is out. — mimiphilomena
Xylitol -- All Natural Sweetener
"...Xylitol is a dentist's dream. It reverses all these destructive effects of sugar on oral health. Xylitol is non-fermentable and therefore cannot be converted to acids by oral bacteria, thus it helps to restore a proper alkaline/acid balance in the mouth. This alkaline environment is inhospitable to all the destructive bacteria, especially the worst variety, Streptococcus mutans. It also inhibits plaque formation...." — Alex Polikowsky
Ah, yes! My son frequently forgets where he was headed / what he was going to do and it happens with teeth brushing, too. There is much less stress if we go to do it together. I give him a piggyback ride to the bathroom, sometimes he brushes his teeth and sometimes he wants me to do it. I don't mind helping him brush at all, I think it helps him figure out the sensations and movements of what a good teeth brushing feels like. We talk about each part of his mouth and he asks questions, etc. Since he's fiercely independent in many ways, it's a treat for me to be able to do something for him. We pause to chit-chat and giggle. Sometimes we'll brush our teeth together or he'll want to brush mine for me.
If told him to go do it he'd make it halfway down the hallway and start playing. I'd get frustrated, remind him again, direct him toward the bathroom, spot him in the living room a few moments later and discover he still hadn't brushed his teeth. I'd send him down the hallway again with my patience rapidly decreasing, and so on until eventually I was close to yelling and all but dragging him into the bathroom or on the verge of making threats like "no bedtime story" etc.
There is a principal behind the act of teeth brushing - taking care of ourselves so we stay healthy. Both ways are trying to meet this goal. One way tries to figure out how to make it happen in the most joyful, non-coercive way. There are no commands, rules or punishments involved. It does, however, require me to be present and actively engaged with him to accomplish the brushing of teeth.
The other way is the opposite. It starts with me thinking I can issue a command and have it obeyed and that should be the extent of my involvement. Every time he needs redirecting my frustration level grows because I'm not suppose to have to intervene - I said "do it" and that should have been it. I choose to turn it into a battle of wills and to take his inability to complete the task on my timetable as a sign of disrespect.
Which way is respectful towards the child and is more pleasant for both of us? Which way is ultimately more hands-on? Which way honors the relationship? — Susan
Of course, I kindly remind him to brush his teeth
One alternative would be to talk about his breath without going straight to the solution - I forget that myself and tend to go straight to solutions. After all, my solutions are fabulous! Why wouldn't anyone just want me to tell them what to .... oh, oops.
Part of supporting autonomy is giving our kids the space to think of some of those fabulous solutions on their own - the other part is then being willing to help them problem-solve if those "solutions" aren't exactly what they hoped. To use a montessori truism: "kids learn to make decisions by making decisions" and that includes less than successful decisions, so they can experience the whole process with our support backing them up, and helping them figure out the "what now"? parts.
So, again I remind him to please brush his teeth. Sometimes, this happens several times.
Try starting the conversation in a different place - hey, guy, your breath is pretty stinky in the morning, but toothbrushing seems to be a hassle for you... can we find a better solution? If he's not used to this kind of problem solving (if mom jumps to solutions, why should he be?) he might need some prompting. Can you set up the toothbrushing somewhere different? Can y'all look into mouth rinses for first thing in the morning? Gum? A tongue scraper? Maybe y'all could look into some of the causes of bad-breath together and find yet more possibilities - like a change of night-time snacks, or more humidity in the bedroom or a nasal rinse? There are dozens of possible solutions to morning breath and creating a healthier mouth environment.
I suppose I could give up on working with him
Sometimes a break is a valuable solution to explore. Its good to "red flag" situations where you seem to come up with only two options, though. That's often a good sign that you've gotten stuck in your thinking - and a good opportunity to go to your kids and say "hey, I can't figure this one out, lets put our heads together". And if that doesn't work, well, that's one of the things these boards are great for - seeing a bunch of different perspectives and possibilities. — Meredith
Actually, this [teeth rotting because of not brushing] is not true. Tooth rot has more to do with a genetic roll of the dice than care. I am 36 yrs old and have on paper taken horrible care of my teeth. As a child I did not brush for MONTHS. Even now, I do not brush twice a day (mostly because I have mouth ulcers and at times it's too painful to brush.) I have NO cavities. No rot, no periodontal disease. Both my brothers take much better care of their teeth but they have tons of fillings. I really think it's just a matter of chance. So as uptight as I am about everything else still on tooth brushing I sort of leave it alone. I remind every now and again "Hey, have you brushed your teeth lately?" But I don't ever bug them about it.
You can give other things a try...toothbrushes that make music, light up, bubblegum toothpaste. Offer different options perhaps. Also gauze on a finger tip works too. Not as good as a brushing but better than nothing. — Karen Swanay
Absolutely. My grandmother used to say, "You either got good spit or bad spit." I brush my teeth after every meal. I even carry a toothbrush and toothpaste in my purse and have been know to give myself a quick brush in the car. Last year I had to have 4 root canals and 3 cavities fixed! My husband usually brushes once a day, sometimes twice and very seldom has any problems. I can only remember him having one cavity in the last 10 years. My dd was tremendously influenced by our last trip to the dentist. He is very good with children and took the time to show her with a plastic model how to brush most effectively. He talked to her on her level and explained all about dental care. I have also been able to find cute little books about dental care that my kids enjoyed. This helped a great deal. Sometimes if we are going out I will ask them if they remembered to brush and try to remind them before bed but other than that I don't worry too much about it. My own experiences have shown me that it doesn't make a whole lot of difference in how many dental problems a person has. — Aubrey
I do agree with you by the way. I have one cavity and have not taken the best care of my teeth. My father is the same way, and I'm pretty sure genetically I got his teeth. Both of my girls are adopted. My 9 year old has the worst teeth ever. I lost count a long time ago on the number of cavities she has. We go to the dentist every six months and she has anywhere from 2-4 cavities every time, and she DOES brush her teeth. Now my 7 year old is the one that does not brush her teeth. She only has 1 cavity so far, but really I have no history on how her birth parents teeth were. — Kelly
I've made teeth brushing a priority. I've never forced it, EVER. I've only made it fun and since I model good oral hygiene habits myself, they seem to be fine with it. I've had at least 4 friends whose children (all of whom were under the age of three) had to be put under to have cavities filled. One girl's teeth were literally crumbling out of her mouth. None of these parents practiced consistent toothbrushing. If my child starts to resist teethbrushing? Well, I guess I'll have to lighten up a bit and hope for the best. I'd buy different kinds of toothbrushes (electric do a better job in a shorter time), and toothpastes. I'd hope they'd go to the dentist so they'd get cleaned good at least twice a year! I'd continue to model good oral hygiene habits. — Kendrah
For us, DS would sometimes comment on my (or DH's) "morning breath" by saying our breath was "hot" and we'd go brush. So, when his breath gets "hot", I'll mention it and ask if he wants help or wants to do it himself (he's 9). I think that's another big area of the situation too - just because a child is 6 or 7 or 8 or whatever doesn't mean they "have to" brush on their own by themselves in the bathroom. Sometimes we've had three tiered brushing action with DS, then me looking over him into the mirror and DH looking over my head (which usually occasions lots of silliness BTW). Often, DS will request I do the brushing for him, so I do. Sometimes we'll take the toothbrush, a small cup of water to rinse and another cup to spit into (and a small washcloth) into the other room and brushing occurs while watching TV. Sometimes brushing doesn't occur before bed and after breakfast but at other times of the day when there's a convenient 'pause' in the activity level of the day and that's cool too. — Deb
One thing I did was buy the ACT fluoride treatment, which they like to use, and I feel like at least they're strengthening their teeth even if they don't brush as well. Eating apples and cheese is supposed to be good, as well as a glass of water after meals. We also play dentist where we take turns brushing each other's teeth. I'll just say that it's been a while and ask if they want to play dentist. We've also experimented with brushes and pastes. For while, Breanna would let us use a washcloth to clean her teeth, it works as well without all the overwhelming sensory issues of the hundred bristles and toothpaste flavor. — Melissa
There are things you can do besides actually brushing teeth: use Dr. Ray's Spiffies tooth wipes. These are individually foil-wrapped wet wipes for teeth that have xylitol in them. My younger ones chew them like gum and then spit them out. The great thing about these is you can carry them around with you - she can clean her teeth whenever she gets the urge.
She can also rinse her mouth with a baking soda or xylitol wash. Some foods, such as cheese, are good for teeth. She can chew xylitol gum or eat xylitol mints.
Half of our family (my sons and I) have the strep mutans bacteria that causes early childhood caries (ECC). My sons both had partial bridges by the time they were two. By the time my youngest was two, he had 6 teeth pulled and had two lower molar crowns. I could visibly see the teeth dissolving over a two week period. I brush, floss, and still was going in for a cavity repair every month or two.
One of the changes we made was to brush before instead of after eating. The bacteria must come in contact with carbohydrates to acidify; even brushing immediately after eating allows the bacteria to acidify. By brushing before eating one removes the bacterial plaque, which takes twenty-four hours to recolonize. We also eat foods to remineralize our teeth and take cod liver oil, and use xylitol toothpaste and products.
My youngest has not had a single cavity in two years. One eye tooth that had begun calcifying when we made our changes - has not progressed AT ALL into any decay.
We do not have any resistance to tooth brushing, is just part of our routine like washing hands after using the bathroom. We keep toothbrushes in the kitchen, the bathroom, and the car, for convenience. My boys lay on the bed at night and "mommy robot" brings the robot brush - or they are frozen and the tooth brush unfreezes them - whatever game they invent, I will do. — Shannon
My youngest has some sensory issues and doesn't like brushing very often. He also has teeth that aren't especially healthy. We found this mouthwash that has xylitol and no alcohol, so he loves it. We also keep baking soda around..... — Ren
I have one kid who neglected his teeth a lot and rarely gets a cavity. I have another who is a good brusher and has had lots and lots of dental issues starting when she was two. It does seem to be a bit of a roll of the dice. Some things that helped here: I offer a small piece of cheddar cheese at bed time to help remedy the PH of her mouth. My kids like it and it is a really good way to keep the acid down. Also, there are so many cool toothbrushes and flavors of toothpaste and stuff, now and then we all go get new ones. It's always fun. In fact we were at Target today and we each got a new fancy spinning toothbrush and I bought a different flavor paste for each kid. I spent more than I normally would but they all had a blast and they were excited to try it out when we got home. — Krisula
Someone, I can't remember who, suggested: Let the child brush your teeth. Then ask if you can brush his. Be okay if he says no. — Joyce

This is complete because a lot of people cannot afford e xpensive technological products and prefers stay with what they are all used to. We can take a radio receiver as an example. Radio receivers are obviously a very important carve up of radio and wireless technology. Their military operation is diminutive to many applications. The basic radio receiver concepts including the superhet and other topologies such as the direct conversion receiver are of great interest. Elements such as selectivity, sensitivity, slashing range, and many more are of great importance to any radio receiver. So too are some of the circuits and techniques employed. Mixers, demodulators and synthesizers are only trine examples. The main technological step made concerning radio receivers is the prune of their high-voltage range. Sensitivity is one of the main judicial admissions of any radio receiver. However the sensitivity of a set is by no means the whole story. The specification for a set may show it to have an highly good level of sensitivity, but when it is subsumeed to an antenna its performance may be very disappointing because it is easily overladen when strong signals are present, and this may impair its ability to receive weak signals. The overall dynamic range of the receiver is very important. It is just as important for a set to be able to handle strong signals well as it is to be able to pick up weak ones. This becomes very important when trying to pick up weak signals in the straw man of nearby strong ones. chthonic these circumstances a set with a poor dynamic range may not be able to hear the weak stations picked up by a less sensitive set with a better dynamic range. Problems like blocking, inter-modulation distortion and the like deep down the receiver may screen out the weak signals, despite the set having a very good level of sensitivity. habitual people face these kinds of problems. And though it may be considered some kind of detailed verbal description of what a receiver is the rationality we descr ibed it all in detail is to allocate what qualities people are seeking for in one of the most popular products of the radio industry. This is the radio receiver technology and it is an integral part of the contemporary radio development.\n\nEverything that has once been invented in the radio industry has to gain a new life or a decent substitute. What is the soil of such a phenomena? The main reason is that the products of such a pauperismon industry have to follow the progress in the outback(a) world. The outside progress is potently influenced by the demand of the circulating(prenominal) society. What they need is a guaranteed any-minute connection to any place they what to connect to. They are ready to collapse proper money for it because quality means high prices, particularly when it concerns technologies.\n\nConclusion: It would be right to say that technology has composeed the regulation of the radio industry obsolete in the 21st century. engineering science controls the development of the radio industry and without it this industry would be fallen by now. It is not dead, but it is not the same anymore. Radio industry should be represented throughout technology. Technology- means changes, changes for something new and hopefully much better. Technology is a system that has been designed and realized on practice. It is a model of solving current technological issues. All the technologies torment one goal gaiety and projection of possible demands and changes that may be needed in order to keep the industry up. As long as we talk about radio industry it becomes a polic e. Technology is the essence of every modern industry. Radio get alder andolder. That is the reason it does render the regulation of the radio industry obsolete. Every fact that was listed to a higher place proves it in its very core. Radio industry needs to change and even more than that it need a constant change, a constant spreading. It needs a constant offer of new techniques. In this case it will stay as up as it is. Million of people worked in the radio industry and dedicate their thoughts and lives to the creation of something we may be already consuming. Technology cannot be the heart of the radio industry, because technology is growing and compass its blossom. Owing to technology our houses are more comfortable and exclusively serve to our convenience.
