Been rewatching Gotham I am not immune I fear

okay so i watched the ep and i still fucking hate the brothers thing (even though it was SUPER fuckin sarcastic and there is no way oz meant that, and the way he said it to me it felt like... in a general sense, in a sense of saying they’re brothers in arms against the world) and the knives thing (bc it was SO stupid considering oz just sacrificed his whole ass eye to protect ed and save his life, why tf would he even consider stabbing him but ok) but if anything it only proved ed returns oz’s feelings now. 

ed was so so SOFT with oz the ENTIRE episode, and he has been softer than normal with him the entire season so far. it’s been an examination of his feelings and it came to a point when it was just him and oz separate from everyone else in their own little world. ed spoke so raw and dangerously when he was looking in the mirror and talking about taking over, but then he immediately becomes soft when he talks to oz/hugs him. that scene only served to highlight his gentleness towards oz (and he definitely patched him up earlier with his eye). he also cringed at the injury and he’s handled dismembered limbs and fingers before, so more likely he was recoiling at the fact that it was OZ that was injured and not the injury itself.

he fucking lied about needing oz to help drive the sub yet he screamed at oz to stay desperately as though he absolutely needed oz to come with him, but as we saw the sub can be taken by one person as nyssa stole it. so the only explanation left is that it was nothing to do with leaving and everything to do with running away with oz. he lied AGAIN when he talked about how he liked the city bc it was super obvious he came back for oswald himself. he immediately said he’d miss oswald too when oz said he’d miss him, and that brought him up to two things he had admitted to the hallucination oz that he’s admitted to the real oz. that he cares about him and that he misses him. he was close to oswald’s side the whole time and then even more protective/close after oswald’s injury.

when he and oswald hugged he ended up gripping oswald in the exact same way as oswald held him in the anything for you scene, when oz realised he was in love with ed. there were a couple parallels to canon couples too, jimlee and batcat. lee stayed behind despite the fact jim told her to go and selina told bruce something bruce’s parents used to say to him, similar to when ed said anything for you to oz which is what oz’s mother said to him. 

the emotion on both their faces when they hugged was so tangible and so real, it just seemed like they were glad each other were alive and well after everything. ed went in for the hug as much as oz, didn’t just collapse into him, properly hugged him for the first time. the hug was a mirror to lee and ed except it was hugging instead of kissing. the whole knives thing was similar except they didn’t end up stabbing one another proving that ed loves oz beyond what he felt for lee bc he put oz before his own personal goals.

it just activates the almonds how in such a small amount of screen time in general for the episode, and then for those two, it was proven time and time again that ed’s in love with oswald too. that they now fully reciprocate each other’s feelings and have made a plan for the future in which they’ve been together for 10 whole years.it’s just very amusing how much they tried to no homo everything but ended up just proving that ed and oswald are in love. nice try exec prodcuers. there was an attempt.
