If you are a alterhuman, reblog and answer these questions!
(don't be afraid to write a lot, do what you want ¯\_(ツ)_/¯)
1/ Which category of alterhumanity do you belong to?
2/ What/who is/are your type(s)? (if you have any)
3/ Do you experience shifts? If so, can you tell us your most common shifts and your strangest cameo shift (if you've ever had a cameo shift)?
4/ How do you experience your alterhumanity in everyday life?
5/ What do you think of the community?
6/ What are the things that make you most comfortable and euphoric in your alterhumanity?
7/ Are you experiencing species dysphoria?
8/ What advice would you like to say to a young alterhuman who has just awakened?
9/ Do you have/want to have gears?
10/ Do you know/have any theories about the origin of your alterhumanity? If so, tell us! (all beliefs are legitimate)
11/ Tag someone/a creature to answer these questions!ㅤᵕ̈

Made an updated version of this with a bit more info on things and a few tweaks, so go check out that version here!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I've made a few posts talking about things in the nonhuman and alterhuman communities recently, mostly just brief looks into them, so I thought I would share this one.
The info may not be all that much, and could easily be expanded upon, but I did my best for a simple bit of info for certain things.
All pictures have ALT text included, but I shall post the text also here, under a cut, cause it's a bit long, lol
Nonhuman as an identity: To identify as not human either fully or partially. (hate/trolls will be reported and deleted)
Reminder: These are all personal identities and why someone identifies as nonhuman and what term someone decides to use for themself is exclusively their business. In the end it is what makes the most sense to the individual and not up to others. Now, onto some of the communities that are included under the nonhuman identity:
Otherkin: from the term "otherkind" - an identity which typically encompasses being wholly or partially a nonhuman entity. Usually understood to cover those who identify as mythical creatures and other fantastical things. Also covers those that fall outside of beings and creatures.
Examples of non-being or creature based identities: Conceptkin: an identity where one identifies as a concept such as the concept of night or fire. Objectkin: and identity where one identifies as an object. Songkin: an identity where one identifies as a song.
Examples of being and creature based identities: Therianthropy: usually shortened to therian - where one identifies AS a nonhuman animal. Some will say that this term refers to only earthen animals, living or extinct, but it has never only encompassed earthly animals. The community's language came from those who identify as werecreatures. Theriomythic: an alternate identity term for one who identifies in some intrinsic was as a mythical creature. Paleotherian: an identity term for one who identifies as a now extinct earthly animal, like a dinosaur or mammoth.
Cladotherian or Cladokin: an identity term for one who does not identify as a distinct species, but a broader identity encompassing an entire genus or larger grouping. Cladomythic: an identity term for one who identifies as a group (clade) of animalistic mythical creatures.
Fictionkin: an identity term that covers all things fictional. For those who identify as something fictional like characters, animals, species, objects, etc. These can be from books, shows, video games, etc, but not always! Original fictional characters and such are also possible.
There are many other identities that fall under the nonhuman umbrella which is why it's important to do your own research to figure out if a certain term works for you. All these identities share the trait of being involuntary. You cannot choose to be therian, otherkin, or the other mentioned identities.
While the already mentioned identities are involuntary, there are some identities that fall under being voluntary. Otherlink: an identity where one voluntarily identifies as nonhuman. Copinglink: an identity where one voluntarily identifies as nonhuman to copes with things such as trauma, stress, etc.
A lot of people may also say that it is impossible to become a therian, otherkin, etc. While the identity is involuntary, things like trauma and neurodivergence can cause an individual to take on a nonhuman identity when they had not had one previously.
Most will usually see people explain that these identities are spiritual or psychological, but these are only some of the ways that individuals may experience them. Some other experiences of nonhumanity: Symbolic Metaphorical Ancestral Physical (Yes this is an actual reason for some and they are just as much a part of the community as anyone else. Physical and Ancestral nonhumans are part of the community's history and some of its founders.)
For those looking for more information, and community places, here are some places to check out! Werelist Nonhuman National Park Alterhuman Archive The Chimera's Library. The above are forums and archives of information on the community. Most archived information is thanks to who-is-page, liongoatsnake and frameacloud on tumblr.
While this is a brief look into the nonhuman identity that I could share, I do hope it has been helpful in some way. Remember to be true to yourself, and don't let anyone tell you how to feel. Ignore, report, delete and block the haters!
Yeen out~

I find it funny on how therian haters would say things like
“I’m a tapeworm therian”
Ik they’re tryna hate but that’ll actually be a link type and/or otherkin lol
“Rosetoy therian” that’ll be objectkin
“Worm therian” that’s actually a theriotype congrats on finding yourself <3

DO NOT POST YOUR ADDRESS ONLINE TO MEET OTHER THERIANS
I have seen kids ages ranging from 9-13 ish post their ages, faces, and addresses in the hopes of meeting other therians. DO NOT DO THIS!!! Please for the love of everything don't do this, don't post anything publicly, no one should know anything personal about you.
"Well I want irl therian friends!"
You can make irl friends differently, try drawing the delta on your hand or wearing a delta necklace. I know it's not easy to find other therians, but don't post anything about you.
You could be hurt, assaulted, robbed, ect. Bad things can and WILL happen. Be safe online please!

Unpopular opinion: let people have fun and be cringe. Let that 11 year old therian identify as a crow. Let that 14 year old on tumblr use 🍁/🍁self pronouns. Let that middle schooler be obsessed with undertale and be asrielcharic. Let that random person on pinterest have a board of xenogenders and catgenders. A random internet person identifying as a hairbrush harms absolutely NO ONE. Period.

some stuff about therians [please read!!]
I keep seeing a lot of discourse about therians, "physical" therians, fictionkin, etc. etc. I'm here to say that
1: I know the bare minimum about lycanthropy, but I do know that those who live with it do not deserve to be ridiculed and hated or pitied.
2: therians *do* think they are animals. that is what being a therian is. it is a belief that in certain ways, (whether that be physical, mental, spiritual, etc.) you are not human. While *most* therians maintain the knowledge that they physically are human, even I (as someone who does not experience many physical shifts) question why my body looks human sometimes.
3: not every therian has gear, and many therians cannot do quadrobics. Please be mindful that some therians do not have the money to purchase or make gear, and some have disabilities in which they are unable to do quadrobics. Even if a therian is able-bodied, they may not want or feel the need to do quadrobics and that is valid. Therianthropy is not based on gear or quads, it is based on a deep personal spiritual experience.
4: otherkin, plantkin, fictionkin, etc. etc. ARE VALID!! their experiences are different from yours, but you need to realize that when you ridicule them you are just as bad as the people who ridicule you. I'd love to educate y'all (and possibly myself) on some different terms too :3
Be nice and drink water!!

idk if its just me, but i dont like the current state of the younger therian + otherkin + alterhuman community. I dislike it so much that I refuse to interact with it outside of two very specific spaces. Everywhere else just strays so far away from what it actually is.
It's all about quads, masks/gear, past lives and souls, when 3 out of 4 of the things i just listed dont have anything to actually do with therianthropy.
I'm a therian and otherkin, I don't do/have majority of these things. Literally the only thing I have from that list above is gear. There is so much misinformation in the community, and I hate it. It feels like my IDENTITY is just a fun little thing to do in spare time.
Being otherhearted is having a connection or relating with an animal/creature.
Being a therian is identifying as an animal based off of nonhuman behaviors/experiences.
Being an otherkin is identifying as a mythical creature, with usually human or above sentience.
Being fictionkin, objectkin, plantkin, etc, is all about identifying AS something.
It's not about quads, masks and past lives. It shouldn't be about that, it shouldn't be the main focus in the community. We should be focusing on eachothers experiences with alterhumanity, what we all go through.
Alterhumanity isn't all sunshine and rainbows and quads and masks and all happy. It can be about being outcasted because youre different, being forced to be something youre not. It's not about quads and gear and past lives.
Also, past lives have nothing to do with therianthropy or similar, they can be a reason to identify as something, but just having a past life by itself doesnt make you a therian or similar. You don't need to have a soul either. It doesn't even have to be spiritual. You just need to identify based off of involuntary nonhuman behaviors/experiences. If it's not spiritual, it doesn't have to be related to trauma.
I don't like constantly seeing quads and gear, I want to hear about your nonhuman experience. How does your alterhumanity impact you in your day to day life? What animal behaviors do you have? Stuff like that.
If you want to scream at me "no!! therianthropy is all about connection and past life, identifying as an animal is mental illness!!!", please don't. Saying this because I've been told this so many times on other platforms. If you have this belief that therianthropy is about past lives or connections and would like to talk with me about this, pls be respectful.
Sorry for the rant, something on a discord server set me off lol. I hope this was interesting to read ig. Pro tip, do research on therianthropy n stuff outside of social media, do research on it on google. Social media therianthropy is filled with so much misinfo its actually horrible. Have a nice day, might delete this later when its morning and my head is clearer. (It's 2:27am)
Edit: I have edited this post to remove nonphysically identifying. I do not think we should encourage delusions, as they could be harmful to the nonhuman or others, but that doesn't mean their identity isn't valid in the community. Physically identifying should be treated respectfully, everyone should be treated that way.

Decided to update my "a basic look into the nonhuman identity" post.
All of it is basically the same as the old one, but with a few minor tweaks here and there. =D
All pictures have ALT text included, plain text under the cut.
Nonhuman: To identify as not human either fully or partially. Used both as an umbrella term, and a standalone identity. How specific you get with your identity and what terms you use is entirely up to you. Sometimes "nonhuman" is enough.
Otherkin: from the term "otherkind" - an identity which typically encompasses being wholly or partially a nonhuman entity. Usually understood to cover those who identify as mythical creatures and other fantastical things, but these are not the only things otherkin covers. Also encompasses non-creature/being nonhuman identities.
Examples of non-creature/being based identities: Conceptkin: an identity where one identifies as a concept such as the concept of night or fire. Objectkin: and identity where one identifies as an object. Songkin: an identity where one identifies as a song. Phytanthrope or Plantkin: an identity where one identifies as a plant.
Examples of creature/being based identities: Therianthropy: usually shortened to therian - where one identifies AS a nonhuman animal. Some will say that this term refers to only earthen animals, living or extinct, but it has never only encompassed earthly animals. The community's language came from those who identify as werecreatures.
Theriomythic: an alternate identity term for one who identifies in some intrinsic was as a mythical creature, typically refers to those with animalistic characteristics.
No all those who are fictionkin identify as nonhuman.
There are many other identities that fall under the nonhuman umbrella which is why it's important to do your own research to figure out if a certain term works for you. While these identities are experience mostly involuntarily, the line between voluntary and involuntary can sometimes be incredibly blurry and hard to explain and figure out.
While the already mentioned identities are mostly involuntary, here are some identities that fall under being voluntary. Copinglink or Otherlink: an identity where one voluntarily identifies as nonhuman. Able to be changed as need dictates. This could be for a number of reasons, some examples being simply wanting to identify as nonhuman or as a consciously created coping mechanism. Copinglink was coined by Who-is-page, who made an official definition post in 2016, the definition detailing that the term is for all that want to take on a voluntary nonhuman identity, and not just for coping reasons.
A lot of people may also say that it is impossible to become a therian, otherkin, etc. While the identity is mostly involuntary, things like trauma and neurodivergence can cause an individual to take on a nonhuman identity when they had not had one previously.
Most will usually see people explain that these identities are spiritual or psychological, but these are only some of the ways that individuals may experience them. Some other experiences of nonhumanity: Symbolic, Metaphorical, Ancestral, Physical (Yes this is an actual reason for some and they are just as much a part of the community as anyone else. Physical and Ancestral nonhumans are part of the community's history and some of its founders.)
For those looking for more information, and community places, here are some places to check out! Werelist, Nonhuman National Park, Alterhuman Archive, The Chimera's Library.
Yeen out~
