When he finds out his fellow athlete friend he's met online is also going to the Olympic games, Merlin is stoked, however he doesn't imagine that "Red_Shoes" isn't the artistic gymnast he thought, but her country's weightlifting champion. That doesn't stop him from getting the biggest crush on the pretty girl he saw training the other day though.

I bring you this humble sports au, as someone with 0 knowledge about the subject, besides the fact that literally every woman I saw competing on tv these days is gorgeous

If the firsts played sports what would they be good at?

Angeal: Big bear man. Big bear man body. Definitely wrestling. Or maybe boxing? Angeal is stockier and heavier than the other two firsts, so definitely a sport requiring a lot more emphasis on power and strength.

Genesis: Genesis is Genesis. Which means he's going for gymnastics all the way. He's already got the flipping thing down with all his fancy fighting moves! I could definitely see him doing great for figure skating. And I can't unsee the hilarious mental image that is Genesis Equestrian adventures.

Sephiroth: He'd be good at ALL sports. He's Sephiroth. Buuuuuut if I had to pick just a few...probably fencing or swimming. The former because of his skills with a blade. The latter because he's got a powerful upper body and height for that sort of thing. Sephiroth strikes me as someone who is aggressively athletic and likes healthy competition...but is otherwise completely uninterested in sports, thus wasting his talent lmao

what if i said that the rosekiller hookup only happened specifically BECAUSE olympics!evan and hockey!lily started almost-dating and barty went titanically insane about it.

and the whole situation is incredibly sexually charged and complicated for like 3 straight weeks… but from an outsider’s POV it just looks like those three Oddly Mismatched Individuals spend a concerning amount of time following each other around. and swatting at each other with electrolytes packets in physical therapy. and lily keeps showing up to practice in evan’s team jacket (surprising but reasonable) until one day it’s BARTY’S??? and she gets really flushed when you mention it because she didn’t notice???

and evan & barty are awfully weird around each other for two people the media claims to be so close but you SWEAR they were holding hands in the cafeteria. isn’t that lily evans’s casual short-term olympics situationship proximity-boyfriend? you can’t remember which one actually was? do any of these three have other friends? i think we ended up in this situation because none of them have any other friends. THEY ALL ONLY MET LESS THAN A MONTH AGO??

I was confused why Gracie was dressed up as a sailor but I think it might be related to all of this. I think Young Woman and the Sea might be an allegory for the mass coming out. And I think this might be why we are getting so much ocean/swimming imagery and why there are easter eggs related to the Paris Olympics. This is likely why that 🌋 message was sent the first day of the Olympic Games. “Friends have friends of friends.” I think most of Hollywood is in on this which is why there have been so many projects released lately that seem to tie in w all of this. “So tell me everything is not about me but what if it is?”
