phantom of the opera but it's set in the charlie and the chocolate factory universe where the glasgow unknown creature is the phantom and willy wonka plays as both richard and moncharmin being constantly tormented by the unknown just like in the novel/musical, charlie can be christine or it could be the meth lab assistant oompa loompa

A few days ago I started listening more songs from ABBA. I couldn't get stucked into "Mamma Mia" for the rest of my life. So now, since most of my ideas come from music, I wanted to try this:
Imagine Veruca Salt living Charlie's life. She's poor, cabbagevore, still wearing the same coat that was knitted for her when she was 5 years old, and yet she has the same personality. Now look at a multi-millionaire Charlie who lives in a castle, is heir to an empire (not Wonka's, let's say it's the toothpaste factory) and is still the same in personality.
I don't know if it's been explored before but I've really been drooling over that idea. I might put it out as a one-shot just to try it out; I'm too untrained to do a two-chapter thing. I'm not a man of promises, mind you; in AO3 I've had a work waiting for me since last April…

I owned a bicycle factory. The details are different, but the principles are the same.

What's your favorite memory?
When I was like 4 I had a dream where I bit into an apple but it was rotting inside and I immediately concluded that "the apple factory was broken" and that now I could only eat pears (i did not like pears at this age). This is my favorite memory because of how utterly absurd and funny it is, and that I woke up crying.

what she says: i'm fine
what she means: in the Charlie and the Chocolate Factory opera The Golden Ticket, the Oompa Loompas serve as the narrative's disaster foreshadowing by singing "uh oh" before anything bad happens to the ticket winners. It happens right after Augustus starts drinking from the river (and when he gets stuck in the pipe), before Violet chews the gum, when mike jumps into the teleporter, and after veruca goes after a squirrel. Directly after all of these, disaster hits and the respective golden ticket winner sustains some type of harm - but there is one more time the oompas sing that line - when charlie presses the "up and out" button on the glass elevator. What are the implications of that vocal line? Was Charlie supposed to meet his fate in the elevator????

Musical PILF Tournament Round 0
(close ups of each side under cut)
Tumblr media
Propaganda Pages There will be 20 polls in this "pre-round" to determine which characters will get into the 32 polls in round 1. Polls in this round will be open for 24 hours. The characters were selected for Round 0 include the least submitted characters from shows with multiple submissions, characters who aren't clearly parental figures, and characters submitted with no propaganda. I apologise if you think any of these characters don't fit that description, but this list is final. I have tried to sort it so more niche characters aren't immediately going up against the most popular, and have made sure characters from the same show aren't immediately paired against each other.

Punk Rock Factory - Wax & Beans In Store Show - Manchester 18th Feb 2025
Photo courtesy of LA Photography for All About The Rock Tonight, I headed down to my local little record store, Wax & Beans, for an in-store acoustic show with Punk Rock Factory. They have just released their new album, ‘All Hands On Deck,’ which is currently in the top 10 in the album charts! This album is chock full of cheesy 90s goodliness, which PRF brings to the stage in full force. There…

so in spite of the tags I had put on an earlier reblog, I did actually start watching the new video today at work and paused near the 5 1/2 hour mark. this means I am missing some sight gags since I'm primarily listening. (usually I like to give these kinds of videos a full watch at least once, but since I'm working at home for the rest of the month, I figured why not?)
and before I say anything else, I should probably mention I could be an outlier since I intentionally seek out long material specifically so I can listen to it during full 8 hour shifts at work. my ideal stuff is going to be continuous like this rather than a playlist or shuffle so I don't get an unexpected interruption to my work flow.
but right off the bat, those comments seem contradictory. how could you only be doing plot recaps if too much of your videos are intermission analysis segments? seems like for one to be true the other one couldn't be.
honestly, I think your videos are much improved with the intermissions. I enjoy the supplemental material and your own thoughts on everything. right now in the dregs of the end of Sam & Cat, it is very much a balm to Whatever The Hell All Of That Was.
it might also be worth mentioning that all of the Nick-coms that have been the subjects of these reviews (iCarly, Victorious, and Sam & Cat) are after my own time, so I have no nostalgia tied to any of these, only the vague nostalgia of, "Oh yeah, I remember when I would watch sitcoms on Nickelodeon! Man, they all were kinda like that, weren't they?"
(this is not actually true and I think that particular vibe of Nick sitcom properly begins with All That! but I WAS the target audience for All That! and the immediate spinoffs. and even THEN the vibe was still A Little Different. Like. ok so horny is maybe not the right word because some earlier Nick sitcoms went there but in a different way? what I mean is none of the material you've shown me feels like a match for the vibe of the episode of Clarissa Explains It All when Clarissa accidentally steals a set of lingerie because she forgot to change out of them when trying them on at a shop.)
but even though I'm not familiar with the source material, it is still fun to watch you go through each series and take it apart piece by piece. I'm learning about things I didn't know and have more context for things I did know but hadn't known fully before. sometimes hearing someone so immersed in their own fixation gives me a new perspective and appreciation for it, sometimes going as far as getting me to try it for myself.
also like. I am not concerned about anything like "video essay culture" because as long as you're accomplishing your goals, I don't care what others care to call it. I'm having a good time with the video, and I'm ready for the more serious turn I know it's going to take. (yeah, another favorite for work listening is audiobooks, so I did spend a day listening to I'm Glad My Mom Died and I am ready for where things are gonna go.)
Hey tumblr
Well, as per usual, "X's" response to my latest video has been a bunch of viral tweets about how I'm ruining "video essay culture" (whatever the fuck that is) by making content that's too long or something. The people of X seem to think that I only do plot recaps, and also that too much of my videos are intermission analysis segments.
How are you guys liking the new video? I know Sam & Cat part 2 was controversial even here. I'm hoping part 3 has gone over a little better. I spent about a year on it, and I've been eagerly anticipating the ability to move on.
