“Kids are too young to learn about that stuff/ it might make them feel bad!”
My earliest memory is being told by a cop that “your kind aren’t welcome here” when my mom tried to take us to a playground. I was seven when someone called me a kike for the first time. The boy I had a crush on found out, told me he would never think a “Jew-pig” was cute, and then told me that as a “good German” he was going to put me in an oven “where you belong”. I spent all of middle and high school with kids throwing Nazi salutes at me, flicking pennies at me, drawing swastikas on my desk. When people started a rumor that I was blowing random guys in the theater, I was specifically called “Jewish whore”.
If I can deal with all of this from the age of FUCKING FOUR without it letting up for a single fucking week. If black kids can experience being called slurs, assaulted, being afraid for their lives because they know what cops do to them. If disabled kids can spend their days being called crip, spaz, being excluded from the most basic of things because no one, their peers and adults alike, cares to accommodate them. If queer kids can handle being assaulted and mocked every day, being excluded from activities because of their gender.
Then your fucking kid can handle sitting in class for a lesson or two. Learning about all  of the shit that’s been done to us in a way that is so watered down, it doesn’t even begin to cover it. Your kid can spend a day sitting in the auditorium watching “Schindler’s List” and giggling like a little fuck and imitating the Nazi salute while I sit there with the only other Jews in my grade and cry because we know this story and we have for years. Your kids can handle history lessons where they’re told that they could be Schindler. While I and kids like me know that we’re the little girl in the red jacket. Only meaningful for our shock value and pity when we die and nothing more. Only useful as a rhetorical device to inspire sympathy and tell other kids that they CAN do good, all while ignoring the fact that marginalized kids are fucking tortured at school by other kids, their teachers, and the fucking administration.
If you can’t handle your precious little baby having to learn about the Holocaust, or slavery, or racism, or the maltreatment of disabled people, or the AIDs crisis, for one day in an easy-to-swallow teaspoon of only slightly bitter medicine. Imagine being one of us.

Another cute scene I thought of:
Kitty: what did you guys get on question 6?
Pietro: I got 7
Wanda: I got 9
Kitty: Damn, I got 42, guess I flunked this math quiz… Reader, what did you get?
Reader, with this expression 🫠: I got George Washington…
-Later-
Professor Xavier (who’s favorite student definitely isn’t reader, what are you talking about?): I got your tests back. Except for Readers, sadly your test…drowned. You get an A though
- ❤️ Anon
🤣😂😅 Oh dear... I can see that happening! But I raise you this: What if Reader actually was correct? Now that would be hilarious 😆...
• I headcanon Reader is great with things like algebra and multiplication, just maybe not word questions in math or English
• Reader is good with drawing notes, charts, and diagrams/pictures for science, biology and anatomy classes. Scarily accurate, in a way, at least compared to the other teens closer to their age
• Reader has weaker arms, but really strong legs. They're a good defense on sports teams, so they're more likely to block someone or hit/kick/strike the ball to someone else (they accidentally kicked someone in the shin, hard enough for then to fall over in agony)
• Reader is good at baking/cooking. They tend to be okay with measurements, but struggle a bit when it comes to dry vs. wet ingredients and diffent oven temperatures
• I'm going to say the campus appears similar to a boarding school: Everyone lives there, basically
• Reader does not have a roommate; they are invited to stay over with others, though... or have a few platonic yans invite themselves to stay over with Reader in their room
• The town near the school (it's a few miles out) is pretty much like a ghost town, save for a few odd individuals... There are places to go for field trips, such as a science and history museum, an aquarium, an art museum, and some landmarks/environments such as a mountain range, the beach/coast, and a few forests...
• The Town has a few places to visit, for food or clothes or movies, it's just... really, really quiet... If it weren't for the few people living there, one would think they're in the middle of nowhere...
• Is there a uniform? Not exactly? Everyone has to wear a wristband that states their name and school number, but otherwise? There isn't much of a dress code
• The campus has dorms, it has a few built-in cafes and galleries, as well as an auditorium, gymnasium, pool, garden, library, and a few other places... (Don't look beneath the /&>=# &!))... )
• The students and teachers have their own living areas and recreational rooms. Sometimes the students throw large sleepovers in one or two of their rec rooms, because no one's room is big enough to hold everyone; Reader, once they join the school, is being invited to these sleepovers almost every time
• The students, the mutants ones, have their mutations. Sometimes they have to take a day or two off, due to them (namely those who have feral mutations and instincts, those with mind-reading or telepathy, those with specific needs where their mutation has to be controlled, ex. Rogue wearing gloves, Scott wearing glasses, etc.)
• Reader has a mutation, but for some unknown reason, it isn't showing or known to the students or teachers... They've had tests done and had the feral mutants see if they can scent the X-gene from them (it causes a distinct scent), and so far Reader has passed each test... It's confusing for a lot of them...
• There is a dark secret buried beneath everything, something pulling a few characters' strings and forcing paths and actions... But this secret keeps itself hidden and unknown... What I can say, without spoiling anything, is that it's not one person who's behind it... It's several...
And these are a few fun facts to know about the 📒Mutant High🧪 AU!
(Thank you, ❤ Anon, or Bee🐝!) (Or BeaBee🐝!)

velvet pumpkin :)
velvet pumpkin: what do you like describing the most when it comes to scene dressing? share an excerpt
ah. hm. well here's the thing. and if you read most of what i write you will also notice it. i don't really do scene dressing. i do this:
character a and character b (others optional), sitting/standing/laying down, in [specific area], expressing [specific emotion], go.
this is bc i'm not writing anything super long-form rn! it's also because i'm writing halfway between prose and screenwriting. all i've got rn are moments that i'm brainrotting with until i write it down and these are mostly character interactions, specific scenes of action or dialogue, or bullet-pointed backstory. im gonna root thru my notes app and find something for you tho. i like finding unique ways to describe people a lot if that counts!!
OKAY i found something. i had to look in my google drive. this one is a little old and doesn't describe a set but i do think it sets a tone lol. dresses a scene if you will. under the readmore!

They walked into the classroom single-file, and they looked ridiculous. Melody, dressed in heavy winter garb with only a slit for her eyes, fumbling to find a seat. Lupa, sauntering in like she already knew what assignment was due, her human ears and almost clean-shaven appearance smoothing her features uncomfortably. Omar didnt even bother to change. Al was, well. Invisible. So she got a pass.
Jaime, the only passably normal one, had Cyrus tucked away in his book bag, and of course, Cyrus would not shut up. The faint echo of clicky chatter was thankfully muffled behind the Jansport’s front pocket. “You know, they’ve never noticed me in the past! All it took was a little hypnosis. Sure, they might repeat the lesson several times, forget their names, but all the better for the exams, am I right?”
Nearly two steps in, Lupa bumped into a stair railing and yelped “Shit!” with a distinctively doglike whine, and the auditorium turned all eyes to the group of Very Normal Humans (and One Bat). “Really, it would be fine--”. Omar elbowed the book bag.
“What, they not teach you how to curse here?” Lupa yelled, unnecessarily loud, and flopped into a chair. The class turned around murmuring, like a flock of birds, or like dominoes. All at once, shuffling.
“Fucking creepy.” Melody mumbled. “Also, I’m pretty sure I’m getting heat stroke. I don’t think I’ve ever sweat before, but this might make me.”
Before Al could grab the water bottle, Lupa reached out to stop her reach. “They’ll just see it floating, Jenkins, let me handle it.”
She tossed it to Mel, who caught it between oven mitts. The siren didn’t even hesitate to douse her face with it. Mel blinked the rest of the water away. Lupa gave her an enthusiastic thumbs up; Omar buried his head in his hands and groaned.

Fr had a dream where my brother brought a child hinted to be related to me in some way to my parents house but then just sat on the couch and watched sport while I had to take care of her.
Usually I wouldn't mind, but 1) I don't fucking talk to my brother and 2) he's the one who brought her you can't just leave her alone and expect me to pick up the slack when I'm literally not supposed to be here. (I came to pick up some boots I ordered) Take responsibility, oh my god.
And this little girl was a fucking handful. I'll talk bad about children all day I don't care but it was clear to me that the way she was acting was because of her home life so I can't blame her too much on that front.
Eventually, more people got to the house, including my parents. And my poor fucking mother was so excited that my brother and I were under the same roof. When I was trying to make food for this little girl, going back and forth with her about what to make, my mom saw she already had a box of some dessert and we made a deal with her that she could have the dessert /after/ she ate dinner instead of /as/ dinner and she was happy about that.
Oh but all of a sudden my brother speaks to me for the first time, "Dont let her only eat sweets"
And im already aggravated. I'm putting the fucking dinner in the oven and he gets to act like he cares all of a sudden? But My mom is there so a half-shouted "I wasn't going to" is all I can do without making her sad.
In real life, for some reason, the onus is on ME to make up with him when HE'S the one who caused this rift in the first place. I tell my parents every time they bring it up that all he has to do is apologize to me AND MEAN IT, and I won't have a problem anymore. But he wouldn't mean it. So we remain here. With my mother sad. Anyway.
The dinner gets served and my dad asks my brother to pray and he makes it ABUNDANTLY clear that 1) he isn't remorseful and 2) he's doubling down. He lifts his beer bottle and makes a pledge and it's all I can do to say "Oh My God Fuck You" and I'm already moving towards the door to leave when he calls back and threatens to "Gut [me] like a fish" so I say "Do it then, bitch" and shut the door behind me.
I'm going to an auditorium I used to hang out in when my father, who always took my brother's side in this argument texts me that if I "speak like that again, he'll shut my mouth for me."
It takes me a moment before I decide to not text him back because I know he's just reeling from me cursing in front of him. My dad's not that kind of person, he just gets mad easily, so giving him time to calm down is the best way to have an intelligent discussion with him.
That doesn't mean im not mad too though. I'm stalking up and down the empty rows of seats because the familiarity both hurts and grounds me and I knew it would. But I'm still pissed.
Real life context: my friends and I just watched the fnaf movie, and saw a few horror movie ads
So. You know. I'm walking in this big empty theater, angry as all hell, when I hear the tinkle of a bell and children's laughter behind me.
I'm literally too angry to be scared I guess, because I just turn around and stand there and wait for the thing that was trying to scare me to show itself. And as soon as the thing turns the corner, I just grab it and start wailing on it.
It's like a furry plush type monster, and there's blood on my hands, sure, but im too mad to care. The struggle moves out into a stairwell, but It eventually stops moving and ITS A DREAM so I just pull throwing knives out of my back pocket which definitely weren't there before and stab the thing into the wall so it's hanging there.
And I take a breath but hear more bells tinkling and children's laughter on another floor. And im still mad, so I start running up the stairs to kill that thing too.
At this point, I'm like Okay that's too unrealistic and I wake myself up.

Crazy For You - Gillian Lynne Theatre - 2.30pm Wednesday 23 August 2023
I got a good seat (well over half price) through TodayTix’s Rush Tickets. It was slightly to the side but I didn’t feel I missed any action and the rear stalls are very well tiered. The auditorium was nice and cool on a hot day but the stairwells and toilets were like ovens on a hot summers day. I came to this show not knowing too much about it – I was just aware of the name and a couple of…

get out of the house, at all costs
Despite screaming before, during, and after getting Hannah out of the house this morning, it was worth it to give Graham some space to do a fun electrical project in anticipation of the new oven coming our way. It also ended up being a really fun morning. We met up with Alice at the Caldwell High School for a "music marathon" starting with an hour of kids music - turned out to be Disney karaoke with some crafts and face painting, but it was really cute. Hannah was a bit shell shocked as she doesn't know any Disney songs, the room was full of singing and dancing high school girls, and there was a huge TV showing clips from the Disney movies. The girls had a lot of fun and then we escorted them into the auditorium for a symphony band performance. Hannah was really well behaved and seemed pretty engaged but did tell me it was too loud. The band played Bohemian Rhapsody, a song from the Pirates of the Caribbean, and something from Moana, so somewhat painfully not anything related to actual symphonic music, but the students did a good job and were having fun. But I bet they would have done just as well if they played some real classical pieces as well. Oh well.

[Download] Holy Forever - Bethel Music Feat. Jenn Johnson
Tumblr media
Grammy Nominated and internationally renowned artist collective Bethel Music has released a new song from their upcoming album, “Holy Forever.” The powerful piece is a reminder and recognition of the power and holiness of God and is a reminder to turn attention away from ourselves and to the God who stands above all things.
Tumblr media
Captured live in the heart of the Redwoods of Northern California, Come Up Here embodies everything that Bethel Music stands for musically, lyrically, and visually. With the breathtaking Redwood Forest as a backdrop, Come Up Here, is an invitation to look up and take in the full magnificence of the celestial evergreens and reflect on the beauty of God’s glory. The stunning cinematography paired with songs that move the soul to respond make this project the most extraordinary endeavor Bethel Music has ever taken on. The hope is that as each song is heard, the presence of the living God takes over whatever space the listener is in, and that they are able to encounter Him in a way never thought possible. Come Up Here will be released on March 17th and is available for pre-save HERE. A Day To Remember Reassembled Acoustic Theatre Tour
A Day To Remember (ADTR) announced another phenomenal tour back in October also featuring Wage War as opening support. ADTR stated that they “are slowing it down” for this tour. The band named this tour after a song from their sixth studio album Bad Vibrations. ADTR always puts on an amazing show with their use of pyrotechnics, confetti cannons & giant beach balls. I can’t wait to see what they have in store for this acoustic tour.
Wage War is also a metalcore band native to Ocala, Florida. The band has been signed to Fearless Records since 2015, they have released 4 studio albums. The most recent album came out in 2021 called Manic. The band was very interactive with the crowd. Chris Gaylord (guitarist) personally thanked each person that was able to make this tour actually happen from their guitar tuner to the soundboard tech. Each member of the band expressed how grateful and thankful they were for the fans and all the support they have had since becoming a band. The band played a variety of songs, some they played slow. Once they started playing “Prison”, they picked up the tempo and made this song more upbeat for the fans compared to the first few songs they played. Briton Bond (singer) & Cody Quistad switched things up for this next song called “Hurt”. Cody jumped on the keyboard, while Briton grabbed a guitar, before the band even started playing they had to crack a little fun over at Chris. On one of the bands previous tours, they stated that Chris had played this entire song wrong but didn’t give up and kept going until it was over. I really enjoyed this set from Wage War, it show cases raw emotion and a side of them we normally don’t get to see.
Setlist:
Godspeed
Gravity
Slow Burn
Me Against Myself
Prison
Hurt
Never Said Goodbye
Circle the Drain
Johnny Cash
A Day To Remember is an American rock band from Ocala, Florida. They are known for their unusual amalgamation of metal core and pop punk. The band has released seven studio albums to date, Their first album released is called And Their Name Was Treason, and their most recent album is called You’re Welcome. For this particular tour the band brought on extra members to play the keyboard, bass, sound mixer & sing. A Day To Remember debuted songs they never played before this tour, such as “I Surrender”, to make this song extra special Jeremy McKinnon (singer) pulled out a guitar to play along. Kevin Skaff (guitarist) had to have a guitar change on every single song except for the first two. The band made a joke saying that we have to take a shot every time we see Cowboy (guitar tech) switch guitars for Kevin. By the time they started playing “I'm Made of Wax, Larry, What Are You Made Of?” fans started dancing up and down the isles to get the band to notice them, during this song there was also an acoustic guitar solo. I don’t want to spoil all the surprises that A Day To Remember has in store. Check out the rest of the tour to see what else the band has in store for your date.
Setlist:
