Veilguard is optimized like gods intended tbh. It also looks amazing, runs without bugs (I encountered none), and has actual stylization to it instead of being “realistic” looking slop that every game of the recent years is trying to be for some reason regardless of genre.
#🌞#I’m watching people discuss dogshit optimized AAA games from my tower#MY game looks good and runs without issues. AND it’s complete upon release.#I put realistic in quotes because those realistic games tend to have maybe 10% of VG’s diversity. And most games suffer with body types.#But whatevs#Full disclosure the only thing I upgraded for VG was memory. Bc my second hard drive killed itself the other year.#My PC was put together with the mindset of ‘I want this thing to run TW3 on ultra’ and I never upgraded it beyond drivers.#It runs VG on high with some ultra filtering it’s crazy.

Man the remake is kind of an unoptimized mess huh
I mean I know it's a UE game and a modern game and neither of those help in the stability department, but I just love how freezing/crashing trying to leave the sewers is a massive problem too many people are having and optimizations are happening via fans and not official patches atm bc the game is unplayable otherwise (or still not at all) <3<3<3
I'm playing it on a Lenovo Legion 5 with RAM upgraded to 32gb and it actually runs well on higher settings (I thought it was gonna chug but I stand corrected) UNTIL you try to leave, then the load screens are where the issues are with me. Screen tearing is abysmal if you don't use v-sync too
I want a refund it's so bad and I didn't even pay anything
#It needs like 5 day 1 patches#I can't even enter the second part of the sewers where you get to leave them bc it freezes right after I click on the manhole and it tries#to enter a load screen how great#vena vents#not art#Somehow this has more problems than original oblivion on pc#howd you do that the poor optimization was a reason why it was a candidate for a remake out of all the games lmaoooooo

how did u play chrono trigger? on pc or do you have a console? i wanna play but don't knoww what's the best way to play chrono trigger haha 😁
i emulated the snes version, and specifically played the romhack "bugfix and uncensored" because i still do like the charm of the old localization but i dont want all the bugs and mistranslated errors. however if you want a more accurate retranslation (though less lively) and some extra dungeons and anime cutscene, either the steam version or the ds version is recommended!!
#chrono trigger#i'd say the steam is the most easy-to-acess version out there and its probably the definite one so yes!! u can play it on pc#if ur gonna emulate dont emulate the ps1 version its optimization is Really Poor#if ur gonna play the snes version i'd highly recommend that romhack patch!#have fun playinggg i'm always very ill about those chrono guys on my video games sideblog (pre-rendered) lol JOIN ME THERE <- unserious

How often does your wilds crash? It been crashing atleast evey hour or so even after the update
Oh geez, I haven’t had any issues so far and I’m like 10 hours in but that’s probably just because I have a really tanky pc and I doubt you’re the only one with that problem since the pc optimization of wilds is fucked
#brisk answers#I am not knowledgeable on pc support but I doubt you’re not the only person w this issue. probably a lame answer from me#but I’d write a support ticket? I do want the pc optimization to be better cause while i am having a ton of fun#I know the pc version lacks in terms of optimization that makes it chug on certain hardwares. smh

Also like yeah sure it’s odd to make an unoptimized console game considering you know the exact, factory standard performance of every single platform it’s gonna be played on, but anything pc is a totally different animal, and in general pc gaming is the actual hobbyist/enthusiast area so games there are gonna cater to higher end systems. Do you guys just like. Never try to understand the hobbies you have?
#maybe the game is optimized#maybe the specs it’s optimized for aren’t yours#there’s a trillion billion variations on pc specs because of the nature of pcs#you can’t optimize for all of em#eventually you’re gonna hit a computer it runs like shit on#this has been true since Video Games

i want to have high hopes for the sims 2 rerelease because that game is so prone to corruption and the pink flashing and what not i'm curious how ea manages that, because all that needs to be fixed before even trying to optimize the game for new pcs, but if they pull this off? that'd be pleasant to say the least!
#the pink soup shit still doesn't have a definate solution as far as i've searched all of the measures are temporary??#i mean surely they'll have had to fix all that since they are definately not releasing these for free lol#i'm not worried for ts1 because it's not buggy as far as i ever seen all they have to do is optimize it for new pcs#amipersonal

wolfquest isnt like a revolutionary game in any capacity LMFAOO but i love the devs so bad....they always listen to the players and theyre so consistent its so refreshing. every single thing theyve done has been implemented in a timely manner, and if it was broken it was fixed promptly. and they do such a good job at connecting w the community and incorperating them in the process i love them so much
#my pc is on its last leg so i cant even run the new map on it. lol. but i cant wait to play the new saga when i upgrade#they do need to work on optimization but i fear thats always been a problem and its something i can live with LOL#I say so bad so often sorry

Game: *keeps crashing*
Me: That’s it, I'm going to kill someone.
#what they don't tell you about pc games is that they are so poorly optimized it's a mess#“look at this new game and it's hyperrealistic graphics!” bitch what about they make game that run smoothly#y'all can criticize Nintendo all you want but at least their games don't fucking crash because they aren't optimized properly#and pokemon doesn't count because nintendo doesn't make them#my ramblings

Alright so ive been thinking about it (probably far too much) and want a second opinion.
Tears of the Kingdom and Baldurs Gate 3 were the same price.
TotK gave me a total of like. I think it was 160 hours to 100% completion (koroks ignored) in my case. And then i set it down and have had no urge to touch it again.
I'm about 120 hours into BG3 now. I have not completed my first playthrough, and I expect Ive still got some 30 hours left of it. I DO intend to play through it again, and I know that there are countless things left for me to do in it still.
And like. I ENJOYED TotK. It was a blast. But looking at BG3 now, complete with its 3 stage city map, like five other maps too, full voice acting, complex storyline, multiple endings, replayability, etc.
It has me realizing that TotK reused its old map. The only major addition was a procedurally generated single-biome underworld and a couple of floating islands (several of which were copy pasted around the map). Most of its gameplay was already built on the previous game.
So the thought I keep coming back to then is that TotK was fine. It was fun. But if BG3 is a 70 dollar game, then TotK has no good reason to be any more than $40.
But I think youre more into both games than I have been, so I wanna know your thoughts.
Sat on this for a little bit and...yeah. $40 is a good price for it.
Like, I'm not too mad about the map thing. BG3 was in production since BotW came out, while TotK started in 2019 and has to deal with a physics environment. I know what I'm getting into with a Nintendo game when I buy one, I know the level of writing and effort (and railroading) to expect. But the price thing has been a thorn in my side that I've ignored for...awhile.
I do think BG3 deserved another year to cook. Maybe two. I'm extremely GLAD it came out when it did, because I found it when I did, but the third act, for all its complexity, has a lot of loose ends that need tying together. Which, I also am not mad about. When you've had Pokemon-level writing for most of your life, and you connect dots in Zelda, literally any snippet of BG3 writing feels incredible. Even the worst bits of Baldur's Gate are so rich in comparison to the Nintendo games I play. But I DO think that they rushed themselves, and they definitely did it so as to not compete with Starfield.
Which is like...I've spent a decade evaluating whole wheat bread, and you've put a massive chocolate cake in front of me. I'm not going to care that the icing on the third tier isn't as fancy as the first two. I am kind of going to lament that the baker had to rush it out the door, though.
Also BG3 replayability >>>>>>>>> TotK replayability. Like, it's past Skyrim levels. I love games where my choices matter and aren't retconned.
#long post#bg3#totk#ask bee#fave mutuals#like i love totk for what it is#and i love bg3 for what IT is#but you're 100% right in that prices have gotten ridiculous#ALSO. WOULD SOMEONE OPTIMIZE THESE PC GAMES PLEAS#negative salt#<- just in case
