Character Relationship Exercises

Anonymous asked: Do you have any exercises (like character interviews) to help develop character relationships? My story is pretty heavily character driven--childhood friends to something maybe more than friends and then strangers) so I want to get a good grasp on the nature of their relationship. Also: the "30 tips on killing off a character” link on the character development master list is hyperlinked with the one above it!

The "30 Tips for Killing a Character" link works for me on PC. People have a lot of problems with links to my stuff when using the Tumblr app, but unfortunately there's no way I can fix that.

Before you start doing any character development exercises with these two characters, spend some time fleshing out what their childhood was like together. Where and how did they meet? How close were they and what were their interactions like? Where was most of their time spent together (school, neighborhood, summer camp, etc.) and what things did they do together? How did they view one another (as school friends, neighborhood friends, best friends, crushes, frenemies...) When (and how) did things begin to change between them? When did one or both start to notice this shift and how did they handle it? How far into "something maybe more than friends" did they get? And finally... what happened to cause them to part ways and become strangers? Did they just grow apart and go their separate ways? Did one of them move away? Did they have a fight?

Once you get all of that fleshed out, it might be fun to do an interview exercise where you ask them questions about each other--like "What's your favorite thing about them?" or "What's your funniest memory of them?" Then, do this exercise for each stage of their friendship. You could even do a variation for when they're strangers, before they meet up again, asking them things like, "What do you think they're doing right now?" or "What do you think they'd do if they saw you again?" to get some ideas for how their reintroduction might go. You can Google "fun couple questions" and "fun questions for friends" to get some ideas for questions to ask.

Interview Tips for 2024

In February of this year, I had the opportunity to interview the McNulty scholars at Hunter College to help them prepare for summer internships and grad school. In my career, I’ve interviewed, hired, and onboarded thousands of folks in hospitality, retail, and healthcare. I’ve learned a few things about what employers and hiring managers are looking for, so I decided to send them a guide to help them prepare based on the feedback I had for them and the questions they had for me and share it with all of you(Shocker, what’s your weakness was asked by almost everyone!). 

1. Create Your Elevator Pitch 

Your elevator pitch is not only an opportunity to showcase the important work you do but also to convey your personal story. Your elevator pitch should have the three C's, clarity, conciseness, and confidence. If you don't believe in yourself no one else will. Consider adding what you do, how you do it, and why you do it, typically in less than 3 minutes. Here's some groundwork from Indeed on writing your next pitch. Always make sure to tailor it to your specific audience. 

2. ABA (Always Be Asking)

The quickest way to lose engagement during an interview is not to have any questions prepared. Even if the interviewer has answered every question about the school/role, use this time to ask them a question about themself relative to their journey and lean on that interest to establish a connection. You can ask questions like:

What keeps you here?

What was your career trajectory?

What are three words you would use to describe working here?

What are some qualities that someone needs to have to be successful here?

What's one initiative you worked on this year that you're proud of?

These questions also give you insight into the company and any issues that may be present before jumping in. Is the person hesitant in their response? Doesn’t speak positively about leadership or work-life balance? Doesn’t have any good initiatives to share? You are interviewing them just as much as they’re interviewing you! Be sure to be an active listener and ask follow-up questions to your interviewer. Here's a good list of other questions to ask if you're ever stuck keep these in your arsenal. 

3. Be PC When Discussing Former Employers You Despise

We all have employers/bosses that weren't our favorite. Avoid going on rants that bash them. Instead, focus on what you learned from that experience and why this particular employer/school entices you. You can use phrases like the ones below to convey that it was a difficult experience without outright expressing it.

Working/being there was an interesting experience

I learned a lot about myself and my expectations for my next role 

I believe everyone deserves a safe environment and that's why I'm interested in being here

I was allowed to do things outside of my job description to enhance my skills

4. Answering Common Questions Like What's Your Weakness?

Instead of using cookie-cutter answers like I work too much or I'm too dedicated, use this as an opportunity to show self-awareness and positivity. You can say, I wouldn't define these as weaknesses because they make me who I am but this year I am working on x skill. 

Time Management - Managing competing priorities has always been difficult for me due to time constraints but being more organized and aligning with leaders/peers on what needs to get done helps me push through. 

Patience - I am self-sufficient so at times I find it difficult to work on a team if the pace is not as fast as I would like it to be. I've been working on this through team-building workshops and seeking out opportunities to work in groups. 

Delegation - I struggled with delegation because I felt as if I could do a better job faster. I'm learning that there is beauty in the process of helping others grow and learn. I use project management tools to maintain a sense of control while allowing my team to work at their own pace.

Conflict Averse - I avoided giving feedback because I thought it would start a conflict or I would be looked at in a negative light. I'm working on balancing feedback with empathy and understanding that no one grows in their comfort zone including myself.

5. Brag About Yourself!

When bragging about yourself, share your experiences, contributions, results, and of course challenges. It’s okay to be vulnerable about obstacles and opportunities faced(appropriately, of course). Your vulnerability displays resilience and problem-solving skills. Be sure to phrase statements as open-ended questions to engage folks and encourage dialogue about your story. Emphasize the importance of your community by mentioning mentors, teachers, peers, and collaborators. You all are incredibly smart, resourceful, and impactful!

New Brunswick Progressive Conservative party takes 1st step to remove Higgs as leader

New Brunswick's Progressive Conservative party members who want Premier Blaine Higgs to step down as leader say they've taken the first step to oust him.

Marc Savoie, president of the Progressive Conservative riding association in Moncton East, said the dissenting party members, which include 26 riding presidents, have the necessary paperwork to start the process to remove Higgs. The PC constitution says 50 members of the party -- including at least 20 riding presidents -- can trigger a leadership review.

"The party doesn't have to issue an answer at the moment,"

Savoie said in an interview Friday.

"All it's obligated to do is put this on the agenda for next provincial council meeting, which will happen at some point in September."

A two-thirds majority of the council is needed to officially launch the review vote by PC party members. If the vote is defeated, Savoie said, Higgs is free to continue as leader of the New Brunswick Tories and premier of the province. If Higgs loses, however, he's welcome to contest again as party leader, Savoie added.

Dissenting party members have numerous problems with Higgs' leadership, Savoie said. These include Higgs' changes to the policy on sexual orientation and gender identity in schools; his attempted cuts to the French immersion program for anglophone students; his decision to close six rural hospital emergency rooms; and his elimination of elected representatives from regional health authorities and the anglophone education system.

Higgs' condescension and neglect toward the francophone and Indigenous communities have led to drastically reduced participation in the party's northern riding associations, Savoie added.

He said the premier has been claiming that dissenting presidents want to bring about a leadership review because of changes to the LGBTQ policy. The changes include making it no longer mandatory for teachers to use the preferred pronouns and names of transgender and nonbinary students under 16.

Savoie, however, says changes to Policy 713 are "the tip of the iceberg."

"That's just the straw that broke the camel's back," he said. "It's the prime example of how he is ruling the party in relation to the people."

"He listens to the people who say what he wants them to say. And that's how he bases his decisions."

Earlier this month, two ministers resigned from Higgs' cabinet citing his leadership style, leading to a shuffle during which the premier named five new people to portfolios. After the cabinet shuffle Tuesday, Higgs told reporters he needed to rebuild relationships with dissenting riding presidents.

"I think we have some building to do," he said. "There's no question about that, and I need to play a key role in that -- reaching out to the membership, to the executives throughout the province, and be able to sit down and have some very good discussions."

Higgs' office did not immediately return a request for comment.

Savoie said he is not sure about the premier's intentions on healing the divisions in the party.

"He's been saying that for years now. He's been saying that he wants to work together with people. He's done the exact opposite. He's alienated his caucus members, party members. He goes ahead and makes decisions without listening to his close allies, to his ministers, to his (members of legislative assembly)," he said.

"He did nothing to nobody but himself. So for those reasons, we strongly believe that when he says those words, it is just to try to stop the discussion that we're having at the moment."

Echelon, a prominent corporation in many fields, has recently announced that they are reinforcing their ability to provide purified water and hydrogen to various clients. With the installation of two new separator boilers, the company expects that the cost of clean water will drop with the supply increasing.

“We believe water is a right, not a thing to be monetized...” Severin, leader of the Echelon Company stated in an interview with our correspondent

The initiative comes at a time of growing concern over the recent attacks targeting the water purification facilities. Colony Security Units have confirmed they are investigating the matter but have declined to comment on the progress.

Right, enough of that, Separator boilers then, they are quite capable pieces of machinery and not cheap either. Another tab open, I started looking into the water purifier attacks in the area. “Ok here’s the highlights, “Remus Allen’s FDR might just be the most insulting misguided, offensive, and laughable performance that this reviewer has ever had the squirming misfortune to endure. Emphasis on the insulting because he try to make him self look like that he was trying to give me intrusive thoughts about FDR.”

“That’s how I normally look what the hell?!?!”

“I mean it’s not so bad” said Roman as he played with his dress

“DO HIM ALREADY!!” “What I’m just saying.”

“Watching Romans Eleanor Roosevelt, corking out a heavy-handed message of activism, is like paying an aging drag queen to shove a syurp-soaked American flag down my throat. And also Eleanor should have been played by a women”

Roman was on the verge of tears “Thats not criticism that’s a personal attack.” His voice cracked and Remus hugged him as he shed a tear

“If your considering buying a ticket to the show do yourself a favor. By a few feet of good heavy rope instead and then go hang yourself”

“Holy fuck, oh god, poopy. Was the show that bad?”

“It’s not the show it’s you two. Your just not likeable.”

“What?” They said simultaneously

“Nobody likes a narcissist.” They sat in silence over what they just heard. “Leave it to me I’ll go and try to change the narrative once again” Joan then left the twins alone in the bullding

“I hate this world” “this just hurts my heart, Where did everybody go?”

They talked over each other as the walk to the bar to find a man in a pink suit. “What can I get ya?” said the man “Yola mezcal blackberry smash” said the twins at the same time. “My condolences Roman. But remember you do have friends” said the man making their drinks.”

“Thank you. Who are you?”

“Thomas Sanders.......we’ve done five shows together.”

“Ugh Thomas went to Juilliard and won’t shut up about.” Whispered Remus as he told Roman “Oh right Thomas. Thomas haha....... why are you dressed like waiter?” I’m in between gigs at the moment. Honestly Roman I feel adrift as i did in my days before Juilliard” Remus proceed to chug a drink that was on the table as Thomas continued to talk about Juilliard and the two were just over it.

“Still I have played hamlet and I’m still known as that guy from the beloved early aughts sitcom “Talk to the hand” I question everything about my existence” As he continues to rant about the past what they didn’t notice as a man in a golden sequiny dress with a black hat and a yellow ribbon tied on it with long golden brown hair walking their way

“Hey guys!”

Roman and Remus turned around to see Janus Allen, Remus’s husband

“Jannie!!!” Remus picked up Janus and spun him around and soon dipped him into a kiss which turn into a make out session. “Ahem I know you two lovebirds haven’t seen each other all day but can it wait we’re still here ya know.” They both looked at Roman and giggle a little from embarrassment “Sorry your show closed on opening night again. Welcome to the world of the unemployed,hit me up next.”

“I thought you were in Chicago?” asked Remus “I totally didn’t quit just now 20 years in the chorus and still wouldn’t let me play Roxie Hart and now their letting Tina Louise play her” “That bitch is still alive” said Remus as he chugs another drink

“We’re wasting our lives.” Said Roman as they are all slightly drunk “Ok I refuse to give up we’re still celebrities we still have power.” “Yeah well The Times casted you out” said Thomas as he poured another drink “Yep they wrote you off as aging narcissist and I’m only allowed to call Remus that.” “I still don’t understand what’s wrong with that.” Said Roman as he drinks even more. “You know what we will become celebrity arsonist.” “Babe it’s call celebrity activist we are not burning down another building like last time.” “Ok everyone think of causes.”

We are now in Edgewater, Indiana and Patton Heart is watching the head of the pta, Mrs Green being interviewed. “We have very strict rules for prom. Young ladies must wear non-revealing dresses. Young men must wear suits or tuxes. And if a student chooses to bring a date it must be of the opposite sex” “Can’t you just ban this student?” “Well we’ve been advised that there may be some legal repercussions if we prevent this boy from attending so although it breaks my heart we have no choice to cancel prom.” We move to Mr Virgil Hawkins the principal “The first thing I’m going to do is contact the state attourney this is not about school rules this is a civil right case.” “Wait seriously?” Said Patton. “Yes and if word gets out people will get mad and next thing you know some modern day Eleanor Roosevelt is gonna come and hell’s gonna break loose.”

We move back to New York “We got to go down their and raise holy hell” exclaimed Roman “We’ll be the biggest thing to happen to Indiana since........whatever’s happen in Indiana are you with me!?!” Said Remus as he and Roman start stand on top of a table they all cheered “We’ll get Joan to tag along to find us a venue” “I just book us a non-union tour of Godspell and I goes through Indiana we can ride on the bus.” Said Thomas “Can we do this guys” Said Janus “You bet your sweet MILF ass we can jannie”

Tales From The SCP: Critical

I'm alive? nah, just posting an idea I had based on this thing (which you will need to read before this or nothing gonna make any sense). Might turn this into a series, we shall see, it depends on life, which is kicking my ass. Tip to ya: don't advertise your stuff at a convention because then you might be compelled to do something with it while all your other WIPs stare daggers at you. Anyways, there is the disclaimer: the only characters I own are Dr. Raven, Dr. Generic and Collins. SCP doesn't belong to me either, go check it out yourself if you want to get into in and find yourself down a huge rabbit hole. And obviously I don't own the Dream SMP or their characters.

Tales From the SCP: Critical

When it came to dealing with SCPs, Dr. Raven was no stranger to them. Having been stuck in this cat’s body and given a different life, he has been carted all around the earth, from one site to another, dealing with his new specialty against reality benders. But this was a new one he didn’t expect to be dealing with. One Dr. Generic had experience with and even worked with. Apparently things have changed and now the situation of the Keter Class SCP has become critical. In this case, the SCP the doctor is working with has changed, or rather, an instance has suddenly been released from the SCP itself. Dr. Raven is here to merely observe and act as a deterrent from the reality bending SCP during the interview. The cat with black fur covered by a white lab coat and wearing a blue collar with an ID card with his name and rank dangling from it continued down the halls. A Mobile Task Force operative assigned to make sure he stays safe follows behind as they make their way to the interview room.

“Collins, what do you think?” Dr. Raven asked, his voice cold and neutral as always.

“I’m not too sure sir, I'm not a researcher,” Collins shrugged.

“And that’s why you are only an MTF member,” Dr. Raven grumbled.

Collins didn’t respond to that, opting to just adjust his body armor. Dr. Raven just rolled his blue eyes and came to a stop in front of a door. Collins opened the door and the two of them stepped inside the dark observation deck. Another researcher greeted the pair with a nod. Collins stayed by the door while Dr. Raven sprang up on the desk and looked through the one way window down to the interview room below. Harsh fluorescent illuminated the room, showing a single table with two people on the opposite ends sitting in plain, metal padded chairs. One sat Dr. Generic, a simple man with short, dirty blond hair, sunglasses he is normally seen with set on the table and a black face mask. But on the other side sat a woman, somewhere in her 20s, looking scared and confused. Her light blue eyes continuously scanning the room. Her long, blond hair disheveled and in need of a good cleanup. That is how they found her, in an abandoned looking house, in a dusty room with a book with furious scribbles inside and a glitching PC with the game known as Minecraft on it, the main menu screen putting on a light show with the glitching. Reports of activity in the house and her disappearance from the SCP prompted action, with MTF apprehending her and bringing her to the Foundation. This surprised Dr. Generic, the one who wrote the file on the SCP and swore to study it and figure out everything about it. And yet another mystery is thrown at them and more questions needing to be answered. Then again, the Foundation is all too used to such curve balls being thrown, which is why continuous study and testing is needed. And in this case, an interview with an instance or a victim of the SCP, depending on how you feel about such things. Dr. Raven looked to the other doctor and nodded. Then the interview began. A speaker was switched on in the observation room to hear their conversation and record the whole thing.

“Hello, I would like to ask you some questions,” Dr. Generic began.

“Where am I?” the instance asked, her eyes continuously darting around.

“You are in a safe interview room. Now then, can I ask about your experience with the Dream SMP?” Dr. Generic asked gently.

“How--How did I get out? It’s impossible,” the instance’s voice laced with panic.

Dr. Raven’s ears twitched, he had a funny feeling about this whole thing but couldn’t shake it. Everything seemed fine, nothing registering on any instruments. And yet, he couldn’t shake the feeling of being watched from somewhere. But he continued to focus on what was ahead of him, in this case, instance SCP-6969SMP-5 getting more and more agitated. He has a psychology PHD after all, he can tell the signs of anyone in great distress. But that didn’t matter to him in the long run. As a level 4 researcher, he had the power to shut down this whole interview, but he didn’t. He needed answers right then and there. So he let Dr. Generic continue.

“Care to elaborate?” the doctor asked.

“No . . . I shouldn't be here. I can’t remember . . . . this isn’t right,” the instance was becoming more and more distressed.

The instance suddenly jumped to their feet, eyes wide with fear, her breathing becoming more and more erratic. The chair she had been sitting in fell backwards, slamming on the ground with a clang. Nobody in that room flinched.

“STOP, I can’t be here, I can’t be out here. None of this makes sense, I'll get pulled back. The others, oh my god the others. No, you have to help them, they hardly know. Sometimes they know, but it makes us forget. YOU HAVE TO HELP!” the instance screeched, her movements all over the place, even slamming the table with her fists a few times to empathize her point.

Dr. Generic stood up slowly as well, holding his hands up in submission. A member of MTF entered the room in case things got hostile. Dr. Raven leaned forward, interested in her response.

“Please, you have to calm down,” Dr. Generic pleaded with her calmly, the MTF gripping their gun tightly.

“No, no, you don’t get it. They were sucked in, the whole thing is a lie, it’s all a lie. You have to help them, anyone who goes in there--you have to help them!” she cried out, running her fingers through her hair and even tearing at it. Tears had begun to pour down the side of her face, shrieking a bunch of nonsense in the process.

“Stop the interview,” the observer ordered through the microphone.

“What? No, continue the interview, we could get vital information,” Dr. Raven hissed.

“Doctor, with all due respect, even you can see that it would be futile to try and press with the instance in this state,” the observer said.

Dr. Raven looked down to see as she pressed herself in a corner while Dr. Generic tried everything to console her. The MTF had a few more enter the room to escort her to a humanoid containment cell until they can get her to calm down and do another interview. Dr. Raven’s tail twitched in annoyance but he wasn’t stupid. Once a person had gone down this route, their emotions all over the place, no good could come of it. He looked over his shoulder at Collins who nodded in agreement. Dr. Raven sighed and relented. The observer then ordered the MTF to take the instance to her assigned cell and wait for further instructions. Dr. Generic waved them off and the instance went along, sobbing in her hands, still muttering about others. Dr. Raven leapt off the table and Collins opened the door for him to exist. The observer would be in charge of the recording they got, uploading it to the file. The pair of them would meet up with Dr. Generic to discuss what they have learned. The feeling Dr. Raven had gotten before faded away for the time being, but he was suspicious of a potential return of whatever. That’s a common occurrence in this dangerous line of work after all. Dr. Generic did catch up with them and the three of them began their walk to the nearest break room for a quick drink and a short debrief.

“Her name is Alyssa, or username ItsAlyssa,” Dr. Generic informed them as they walked.

“Why does that matter? 6969SMP-5 is just that,” Dr. Raven replied coldly.

“Doctor, they are victims, pulled into the SCP, as the file reads. Though I didn't think the thing was too keen on spitting any of its victims out,” Dr. Generic huffed.

“Yes, and that is why we need to press for another interview as soon as possible,” Dr. Raven said.

Dr. Generic shrugged. The three of them entered the break room where maybe a few other personnel sitting around. They took a table in the corner while Collins got them drinks and even took the opportunity to take off his helmet and body armor. They sat around for a moment, Dr. Generic sipping on some coffee, Collins with some tea and Dr. Raven with some plain water. Oh how Dr. Raven missed coffee, the only thing that kept him sane. But ever since the incident with 239 that turned him into this cat form and even left him with a few extra abilities, he had no choice but to give up the delicious bean water. Apparently the stuff is deadly to cats and him having a cat body, there were a lot of things he had to avoid now. So he lapped up some water while the three of them took a breath for a moment. But then Dr. Generic’s phone rang a few times. He pulled it out and looked at the alert.

“Well, what timing, a couple of instances have gone live on Twitch,” Dr. Generic hummed.

The doctor in turn set up his phone to show a twitch stream of what could be ordinary Minecraft players on a server, playing the unsuspecting block game. But if you knew the truth like the Foundation did, this was the SCP at work again. Knowing those were real people inside this Minecraft Server, putting on a performance for millions who had no clue, it would make anyone’s stomach churn. But to the Foundation, this is just a regular Tuesday. They did flip through a few streams and something caught their attention soon into the stream.

“They don’t even notice Alyssa is gone,” Dr. Generic said, stunned.

“It seems the SCP has made them forget after 6969SMP-5 escaped, interesting,” Dr. Raven hummed.

“Complete control over the environment it created, damn reality benders,” Dr. Generic fumed.

“So what now?” Collins asked as he finished his tea.

“Simply put, what we normally do, continue to observe and study,” Dr. Generic shrugged.

And Dr. Raven watched, that feeling came back. The three of them leaned closer to the screen. It glitched for some reason, causing the three of them to lean in even closer. Suddenly, words began to form on the screen in the Minecraft chat text font.

‘I can see you,’ it read.

Immediately, Dr. Generic whipped out his camera and took a picture and started to record the stream itself. Nobody from the looks of things had seen what they had just seen. The Twitch chat continued as if nothing happened, spamming ‘E’ again. Even Dr. Raven was flustered, his fur bristling a little on his back and tail. He didn’t see that coming and even if he did, he figured this reality bending SCP fell into that 20% that he couldn’t use his ability on fully. That being, deterring reality benders from doing just that, reality bending. The SCP was mocking the Foundation, clearly. The writing disappeared, followed by an ‘:)’ flashing on the screen for a brief second and then the whole stream returned to normal. The room seemed to turn cold, folks noticing it but not really making a move. All eyes turned to the three practically squishing their faces onto a tiny screen. This simple block game had produced a dangerous SCP and now it was up to the Foundation to contain the thing. But that was the issue, containing something like this would be difficult. And throwing it into the sun wasn’t an option, they didn’t need another incident where they did that to 682, what a disaster.

“So, it's aware of us,” Collins muttered angrily, leaning back in his chair.

“That actually might work in our benefit of making contact and learning more,” Dr. Generic huffed, folding his arms and drumming his fingers on them.

“Right, I suppose the next step is to increase efforts of contact through private direct messages and even donations,” Dr. Raven added.

“Right,” Dr. Generic nodded.

When Adrian walked through the crystal doors of Raines Corp that morning the first thing he noticed was Amy waiting for the private elevator, which he had given her the key to a while ago, checking her phone. The night before flashed through his mind as he went towards her, trying to avoid a too obvious grin at the mere sight of her, remembering her sweet lips on his, the soft and at the same time intoxicating touch of her delicate hand on his body and how incredibly perfect their bodies fit together. He knew they shouldn't go that far, having this kind of personal relationship but there was something in her that drew him to her, like a magnet wanting, no needing, more. So much more. But when she mentioned that they should keep it between them because she didn't want to be "the office 'easy girl' who is fucking the boss", a phrase that Adrian tried vehemently to denied, he agreed, unsure of her feelings about their relationship.

"Good morning, Amy." He stood beside her, shoulder to shoulder, his free hand brushing hers.

"Good morning, Adrian." She smiled and he couldn't avoid thinking how different his name sounded the night before in her moans and how desperate he was to hear it again.

"You had a restful night, I hope?"

"For sure! I did a few hours of… Work out before bed." Her face didn't show any mischievous glint, smiling like everyday, as the elevator 'dinged' and they headed inside. When the door closed behind them, Adrian took a step closer to her. If she wanted to keep their distance at a maximum in the office, she just needed to take a step back and he would give her her space. To his pleasure, she took a step forward. She stood on her tiptoes and, taking her lead, he held her waist and lowered his mouth, finding hers halfway as a warm feeling, that after so many years he thought he would never feel again, stormed inside him in the most wonderful way. "Now, that is the perfect way to say good morning." Adrian chuckled before his mouth covered hers once more.

"You look beautiful today."

"Thank you, boss." She retorted with a playful hint of a sexy smile.

"I missed you this morning." His hold on her waist tightened a little.

"I missed you too but I needed to change my outfit." Before Adrian could answer, the elevator arrived on their floor and she took two big steps to the side as the doors opened.

"What is on today's agenda?" He asked as they walked out.

"In an hour, you have a meeting with the heads of sectors, after lunch the three candidates for the research team are coming for their final interview with you, at 5 o'clock Senator Vega will be waiting for us at his place and 6:40 with Priya in her mansion to talk about… you know."

"It's going to be fine." His hand found hers and gave it a reassuring squeeze.

"After what you told me, how can you be sure?" There was an uncertain tone in her voice as her brows knitted together, worried.

"Because I'm going to do everything in my power to make it fine." His thumb unconsciously caressing her knuckles as a soft smile creeped on her face.

Before he knew, the morning had transformed into the afternoon and the interviews had started. The first candidate was a middle-aged man, with a remarkable resume but with some weak answers towards his questions, when the man left from the office, Amy handed him the file of the second candidate and he called Josie Adams inside as the elevator doors opened and a young man, that he supposed was the last candidate, came out, flashing a smile at Amy.

As he led the interview with ease with Adams, he caught a glimpse of Amy's conversation outside.

"Wow, Ames, you look really great!" The voice of who he presumed was the young man echoed in his brain. So this man already knew Amy. "Beautiful." Adrian felt a bubbling sensation inside him, a mix of anger and something new… something he didn't like.

"Thanks, Matt! It's so good to see you! You look great too! I didn't know you had applied for this job!"

"I didn't know you work here either!" He replied and they both chuckled as Josie kept talking about her experience. Adrian tried to concentrate until his own name pecked his attention again.

"...Adrian? He's honestly the best." A fond tone in her voice, he could almost see the smile on her face. "He's smart and respectful, I don't know anyone in the office that doesn't respect him."

"Any tips?"

"Just be authentic, he'll appreciate that." A tiny grin lifted Adrian's lip at Amy's words. Of course she would know the perfect way to approach him by now. Adams continued talking with confidence at his gesture, unaware the real reason for it.

"So, how have you been? Are you seeing someone?" Adrian blocked out the woman's voice, concentrating his hearing sense on the outside, curious about her response.

"I…" She hesitated. "No, I'm not." Well, that definitely wasn't what he was expecting to hear. They had agreed to keep it a secret but completely denying the relationship was further than what Adrian thought.

"Glad to hear."

"That is all I need, Ms. Adams." He suddenly cut the interview, standing up. "We will contact you soon." He shook the woman's hand.

"Thank you for your time, Mr. Raines." Amy led her to the elevator, took the file from her desk and entered Adrian's office, closing the door and handing it to him.

"You’re acquainted with the next candidate." It wasn't a question, and even though he was using the most professional tone possible, something else leaked out, making Amy smile.

"Yes, I do." She observed him with an almost satisfied grin without saying anything else.

"I see." He took Matt's resume and started to read it, being completely honest, some of his accomplishments were truly remarkable. "An old friend?"

"Not exactly." He lifted his gaze towards her, his right eyebrow rising up. "He's my ex-boyfriend. We broke up when I moved here, I didn't even know he had come too."

"Perhaps he's trying to get back with you. Especially if he thinks you are single." Amy giggled walking around his desk and sitting on the edge as her hand lowered the file that he was 'reading' and their eyes connected, deeply and intensely.

"Adrian, are you jealous?" His jaw clenched as she kept smirking. "Oh my god, you really are!"

"I do not get jealous."

"Then why do you care what he thinks?" Her feet barely touched his leg as they kept staring into each other's eyes.

"I don't."

"Mhm, sure you don't." She lowered from the desk and leaned closer to him, softly lifting his head cupping his right cheek, until her lips quickly but sweetly pecked his. "You are the only one I want to be with, that's why it is so important to do things right, even if it's hard to keep this as a secret for a while." She headed to the door as her hips swayed from side to side, clearly enjoying the power she had over him. "And by the way, I told him I'm single because he's the nosiest person I know. If I tell him or if you hire him, he would drive me nuts until I tell him who I'm dating." And just like that, she went back to her desk, closing the door as Adrian smiled, thinking he would do anything for this woman, even get jealous now and then.

ONXY ENTERTAINEMENT 10:45 AM

Jungkook’s happy I guess almost surprisingly so, I mean yeah Yoongi and yourself seemed cool in the interview, and when he did is work interview the vibe was chill. But let’s get real, we all know shit always seems better than it actually is in the interviews!

For one he honestly wasn’t expecting to be given such free reign already which is also why he’s happy as hell he didn’t listen to his roommate’s Mark and Ten and lie on his resume. Granted, everything still had to go through Yoongi first but he wasn’t just... I don’t know editing thumbnails like he thought he was actually doing real work. He’s been here barely a month and he already has reels he can add to his portfolio! Learning new tips and tricks, believe it or not, even through his internships he’s learned that some people are stingy when it comes to sharing knowledge. Yoongi however was far from that, thankfully he was well aware that just because you teach someone your “secrets” doesn’t mean you’re essentially replacing yourself! What makes you good at your job isn’t just how it’s done its how you do it!

If only Kookie could stop internally fangirling over Yoongi his life would be a little easier! He’d seen hundreds of your companies films before and being the production major he is..of course, he’d watch it the first time to jack off..then the second time he’d find himself just as if not even more turned on for the production quality. That’s something Onyx is always praised for..”Aesthetically pleasing porn”. Every morning, Yoongi would sit him down and show him something new and for the first time he finally understands what people mean when they say that someones mind is..attractive! Not Yoongi himself though, because that’s his boss and that would be weird but like his brain, ya know? Anyway, Kook’s current project was actually one of his favorites so far because it was forcing him to actually challenge himself! But anyway the task is creating trailers for films that are pc enough to not be blocked on platforms like IG but spicy enough to get ppl to wanna watch the full thing. Making a climax without the actual climax if you know what I mean. So he’d have to sit there and watch the films, try not to get hard and wanna jack off while watching said films...then take notes and screencaps of the best moments and compile them together without showing “too much”. He’s never been so thankful that he could wear sweatpants to work….because…..yeah it was hard..literally and figuratively hard...but like I said he’s happy and can pay his bills so that’s cool too!

Don’t get me wrong he still feels a little out of place at times and surprisingly enough not for the reason he expected! Two months shy of his 21st bday he assumed he’d feel a type of way because he’s the youngest but that’s not the case! Hell, they went to Nobu for lunch last week and Jin actually slid him his drunk so he wasn’t the only one not drinking!  Flashing him a cheeky little wink and whispering “Don’t tell mom” in reference to you once Kook looked back at him like a deer in headlights! It seems as though they care more about his talent than his age which is the way it should be because he knows he’s good at what he dose!

However, Onyx is kinda like those offices you see on TV, the kind he never thought where real, behind closed doors the environment is far from pc! It’s not a normal morning unless somebodies cursing out there computers! This morning he swore Taehyung told Jimin he had a shrimp dick…… There’s “that’s what she said” jokes being thrown out left and right, people cracking jokes on one another. And it’s not that he feels uncomfortable by any means again he’s a 20 y/o kid from LA it’s just ...he’s new...ya know? So he doesn’t know if he’s “allowed” to do that! So in the meantime, he just spends his days laughing until his chest hurts!

But besides that everybody’s chill , he’s still trying to learn people, regardless of how laxed the office is everybody’s busy as all hell especially Namjoon and yourself! The two of you are actually his biggest mystery, he’s never thought of marriage being something that he’d want. He’s always heard that people change, and shit gets boring, but even in a work environment that’s far from the vibe he gets from the two of you! You actually make marriage seem exciting, worth it, like a gift, not a task…..

Something else that he can’t truly wrap his head around is that your his boss, like legitimately his boss! Somebody that looks like you,I mean fuck your not even 30, you sway around the office in your little dresses and designer heels! Always dolled up hell sometimes he questions if he’s the one in some upscale porno! Actually, not just you all of you why the fuck are all of you so effortlessly attractive and put together?! To make it even worse you all know your shit too! Two days ago for example Kook went to Yoongi to ask if there was a certain way he wanted the ending credits to come into frame, and instead of Yoongi responding you did! Using terminology that had him ready to run home and pull out his “Intro to production” text box! Shit don’t make any Goodman sense...even Yoongi sitting in his office looking like he could be in one of the films he’s editing and no, god no why is he thinking this about his higher-ups?! No, no, nope try again Jeon!

However, now that we’re on this topic, there is one person that he can’t quite wrap his head around...I mean yeah he’s nice but he just seems more reserved around Jungkook than everyone else. Which is odd considering he’s the one Kook meet first, he’s actually the one that encouraged him to even submit his resume, to begin with! What makes it even odder is Yoongi and yourself actually told him that Tae was the most outgoing...it’s not that Jungkook nessercally thinks Tae dislikes him it’s just ...I don’t know, I don’t know…I guess he was just...warmer when the two of them met at Starbucks then he is now that they actually work together!

...And I guess that’s why he almost shit himself when his phone rang and the incoming name rang though as….”Taehyung Kim”...he kinda hoped he pocket dialed him and would just hand up! But wait, I guess you can’t really do that from a landline can you?? Fuckkkkkk

Rei was out, shopping for a new screen since one of hers got broken during moving, and Sof had a job interview for a position of visual leader for an artistic magazine and a business dinner that day, so Ari and Beetlejuice had the house all to themselves. They've been watching Sweeney Todd in the living room, with Sirius laying between them. - Seriously, don't tell me you don't want to taste those pies. - Ari scoffed.

- I mean, duh, they look delicious, but they're made out of human flesh. - Beetlejuice blinked, with a puzzled look on his face.

- I don't get the problem with that. - Ari tried to conceal a giggle with clearing her throat. He sounded so clueless.

- I meant I wouldn't eat human meat, Bug. - Beetlejuice let out a sigh of understanding. - But give me one of those pies with chicken filling and I'm SO down. - Sirius lifted his scruffy head up and jumped down from the sofa. He headed to the front door. Ari heard it opening up and someone stepping inside.

- Don't be ridiculous, Rei. - she said with a full mouth and a light smile. She wrinkled her nose a bit as she smiled. Rei swallowed her noodles too, got off of the table and grabbed the big box she was carrying before.

- Mmmhmmm, you do you, ya hoe, but I know that look too well. - she went to the sofa and blew a kiss on her sister's cheek. - Imma head back to my room, get this shit going and stream a bit. What are ya up to? - Ari shrugged.

- Great, have fun babe. Later skater! - and with that, Rei headed upstairs. Beetlejuice floated next to Ari.

Beetlejuice went through Rei's door. The girl was setting up her new screen, cussing at the cables. He grinned, showing his sharp canines. Oh how much fun he'll have this night...

Rei's room was between Ari's and Sofía's. The walls (which were almost fully covered in posters of TBBT, Marvel and SW) were turquoise, and the ceiling was pale turquoise. In the middle of the ceiling, there was an industrial lamp. The floor was covered in fluffy brown carpet. On the right side of the door, Rei had a shelf full of videogames. The wall on the right side of it was fully covered with a closet. Opposing the door, there was a window, framed by dark blue curtains, glowing stars, moons and planets hanging from it. On the left side of the door, there was a mattress on the floor, covered with pretty starry covers, surrounded by a canopy, like it came straight out of "One thousand and one nights". There were thousands of pillows on the mattress, mostly with pop-culture references on them. On the wall, above the "bed", there were lightsabers, gently placed on holders. Next to the bed, in the corner, there was a detached little room, which Rei furnished as her studio. On the walls, there were a shitton of cute light pink shelves with anime figurines on them, and a hexagon-shaped lamp, glowing in green, blue and red. In the corner, there was her PC and next to it, a greenscreen.

When Rei finally started streaming, Beetlejuice took his place.

- Yaddi yaddi yadda, boooooring, get started with the game, sweetie. - proclaimed Beetlejuice with a smug grin and gestured with his hand. The screen turned a bit grainy for a second.

After like one and a half hours, when Rei was deep in the game, Beetlejuice started having fun. He made the camera grainy a couple of times, which made Rei groan with anger and bewilderment. The screens were next. He made some black and white stripes appear on them, and then giggled when Rei almost hit them once with her fist, she got so startled. He made the lamps glimmer as well.

- Guys, I don't know what's going on with my tech today... To be honest, at this point I'm pretty sure that this really is a haunted house.

Beetlejuice was grinning, his sharp canines flashing. This was the moment he's been waiting for. With a hand gesture from the demon, Rei's headset started creaking and her microphone started to make an unbearably high pitched noise. She quickly got it off her head, and held her ears in pain, but she didn't expect something to happen on her screen as well. Without any transition, a monster from the game jumped at the screen. Rei screamed, and in terror, she fell backwards with her chair.

- Oh how I missed that sound... - said Beetlejuice proudly, with a loud sigh and horniness in his voice. He hovered out of the room, leaving Rei on the floor, gasping for air. That was enough for the day. He had to leave something for the next day too, didn't he?
