to anyone who finds palestine posts annoying: i hope it haunts you i hope you’re barraged by them on every social media app you use i hope you can’t scroll through your feed for 2 seconds without seeing a post advocating for palestine’s freedom and rights as human beings i hope it gets you to confront your internalized racism and hyperindividualism and selfishness and i hope this continues to be a focal talking point in media right up until palestinians are liberated

pretty please, my fellow progressives
Could we please all keep in mind that the concept of "The Jews In General, or A Specific Type Of Jew, Controls Education, Government, Media, and/or Banking", is a longstanding antisemitic trope?
And most of all, that it is false??
No, a marginalized group does not also control education, the government, the media, and/or banking?
No, Jews do not secretly control these things and just pretend to be marginalized? No, Jews have not secretly been accumulating power since the Holocaust, granted by too-generous gentiles, out of pity?
No, it isn't better if you just mean a specific subgroup or kind of Jews. It's still specifically Jews.
It's like when people who hate trans/queer people are fine with rich white cis gay men. So they think it's not bigoted to blame "people with blue hair and pronouns" for the downfall of society.
We all know this means, "I only see some of you as human like me. You have to speak and act a certain way to count. Everyone in your group has to pass a test to get into the Good group."
Doesn't work.
Sure, it gives them plausible deniability to the people who matter to them. But everyone else can see exactly how they feel.
We've all known for years that it's bad to think of a marginalized group as having some "good ones." Rein it the heck in, please.
Because YES, all of those examples are ones I've seen implied, or stated outright, over and over, within the progressive community. This month alone.
#antisemitism#anti-semitic#yes this is about how gentiles use zionism#yes this is about how fast it went from 'this isn't NECESSARILY antisemitic' to 'this ISN'T antisemitic'#yes this is about claiming that we claim antisemitism to deflect valid criticism#yes this is part of a larger pattern of violating every progressive standard but only for jews#none of us would ever say 'people are just claiming misogyny to deflect valid criticism'#we would never claim that trans people secretly control or “influence” the government#we would never treat Ukrainians like “'noble savages” who need us to speak for them#but we treat Palestinians like “noble savages” who need us to speak for them#we know to center the people affected and uplift their voices in every other situation#but in this situation we ignore the fact that we're supporting palestinians by talking ABOUT them#we swallow far-right Palestinian propaganda channeled through diaspora organizations#while Palestinians in Gaza demand completely different solutions and support#zionists echo Palestinian solutions and experiences because we know people in Israel and Palestine#and we get told we love genocide or just blocked#this is how Hamas propaganda is designed to work. Hamas has systematically silenced Palestinians for 18 years and now it's all you know#it is genuinely terrifying to see the entire progressive community sound exactly like the alt-right while it absolutely insists it's not#we also know to center marginalized people's voices about what harms them -- except the Jews?#honestly I think that progressives listened before Oct 7 and that the “no we just mean ZIONISTS are evil” has done wonders to reverse that#let's be real the zionists-not-jews trope comes from Hamas too#all it had to do was claim it definitely meant Zionists not Jews and that it was the Palestinian resistance and progressives flocked to it#its fighters were calling home from the massacre to boast about how many Jews they had killed. it has not changed.#i suppose that the zionists-not-jews thing gave freedom to unexamined antisemitism that people felt guilty about#but oh my god it caught on like absolute wildfire#wall of words

You aren't experiencing a war though. You live in Tel Aviv, completely privileged and sheltered from the effects of war. You aren't even in the IOF because you were deemed unfit to serve. Palestinians don't have a formal military to be able to go to war against Israel. It is a one sided war with only one participant, Israel, who is waging war and Palestine is suffering from war and genocide. The fact you think you are experiencing a war really shows your true colors. You probably believe in a two-state solution at best.
you are scrolling my blog, while claiming to be pro-palestine. before you are two choices. you can either a. send me a borderline delusional ask overanalyzing my every word, seeking the worst possible interpretation you can derive from my posts, while making facts up as you go along to support your claim, trying to paint me as an oppressive monster. or you can b. share and donate to one of the many gofundmes for palestinian families and individuals i share on this blog. you get to decide which one of these actions is directly helping the people of palestine and the palestinian cause. do note that the asks you send me do not upset me or make me mad or make me change my behavior, but rather make me laugh. and genuinely worry about your mental wellbeing as well. actually, there is a third option. you can also c. unfollow me, even block me, and go on your merry way

Yeah ofc there are going to be people hiding behind the oppression of Palestinians to be antisemitic - but if everytime you are asked about Palestine or see Palestinians even mentioned and bring up antisemitism, you are conflating Palestinian identity and liberation with antisemitism - which is dangerous, ignorant, and leads to us being criminalized (which has happened and is still happening).
My identity is not adjacent to hate speech, you’re just a bigot.

Y'know, when the choice is between voting for one of two tyrannical war criminal genociders and overturning the government, the "lesser evil" is, in fact, overturning the government. That's the difficult but necessary choice, especially since your country is holding most of the world hostage to its interests. Libs just know that their own lives might be part of the collateral, and worse, that their comfort will definitely be. That's what this is all about. After decades on decades of sacrificing Black and brown people in exchange for the stability of their power structures, they've realized that it's finally their turn.

absolutely fucking jarring how the media is much more interested and concerned in what YOU think about Hamas than they are with the thousands upon thousands dead Palestinians, and the inhumane conditions in Gaza. Every single interview with a Pro-Palestinian is just “yeah we know Palestinians are being killed, but that is not the important question here; do you condemn Hamas? do you not feel an ounce of empathy for Israelis?” literally fuck you.
and I’ve said this before(in a post deleted by tumblr, fuck u for that!), Israeli government and every major western media have made it their mission to depict Hamas as a terrorist group that is “worse than ISIS”, or worse than anything we have ever seen before, in order to justify the genocide of Palestinians. decontextualising the palestinian resistance and depicting Hamas as an invariably evil nihilist-cult is important because it gives Israelis the consent to carry out mass genocide of Palestinian people in the name of anti-terrorism. it should be very clear to anyone that the endless bombardments of Gaza are not simply reprisals to “terrorism” but strategic methods to ethnically cleanse Palestinians in Gaza.

I don’t think people realize how impressive it is that Palestinian resistance forces manually aim and fire at ground and air vehicles and hit them — or that they allegedly work their own production lines to have the weapons. Or that the Yemeni forces blockading the Bab al-Mandab didn’t lose the previous US-UK-EU-supported war against them.

Some of you watch ATLA and think you're now experts on the complexities of racism and colonialism while saying and oppressed people defending themselves is bad. Idk maybe let ATLA go.

i think more people need to realize that indigeneity is a broader phenomenon than they think it is. stolen land is most egregious in settler colonies like the united states/canada/australia but oversimplifying things like that makes it harder to recognize other genocidal efforts throughout the world. ryukyu and ainu moshiri are stolen land. dokdo is stolen land. artsakh is actively being stolen. fuck, northern ireland is stolen land. and genuinely i think this is getting in the way of a lot of people's understanding of what's happening in palestine—the inability to recognize that colonization and genocide can take many forms, and that doing so is necessary in order to stop it before it's too late.

complaining about uni again look away it's really weird how this college gets a lot of funding and they have great facilities and tools that they leave at their students' disposal (which i'm very grateful for) but it always seems like the staff is just not well experienced or not fit for teaching idk i only like and trust my egyptian and sudanese professors and clinicians to provide adequate education otherwise everyone else (ESPECIALLY the european and american expats) is really subpar
