Honestly I think Shawn, a grown man, can stand up for himself lol
“He’s a grown man, he can stand up for himself.”
Right—but that response isn’t as neutral as you think. It’s a deflection. A way of shifting responsibility for boundary enforcement back onto the individual who’s been placed in an uncomfortable position, rather than asking why he was put there in the first place.
Because this isn’t about whether Shawn Hatosy—or Pedro Pascal, or any other man—can assert a boundary. It’s about how we’ve created a culture that expects them not to. It’s about how consent is routinely ignored, overwritten, or turned into a joke in public space—especially when it comes to men, especially when it’s dressed up as irony, “feminist thirst,” or progressive kink-positivity.
It’s about the refusal to admit that consent isn’t just about sex.
Consent is about presence. It’s about participation. It’s about emotional safety. And it’s about power.
And that matters in every context—including fandom, celebrity culture, and the increasingly blurred space between admiration and projection.
When you call a male celebrity “daddy” in the middle of an interview—on camera, unprompted, fully aware it’ll go viral—you’re not giving a harmless compliment. You’re placing him inside a sexualized, hierarchical, kink-coded role, and demanding a performance. You’re not inviting him into a shared dynamic. You’re building one around him and daring him to resist.
And that’s not just parasocial behavior. That’s coercion. Coercion dressed up in a clickbait blazer and a winking “teehee.”
And patriarchy? Patriarchy loves that. Because patriarchy has always taught us that men, especially older, stoic, men, aren’t allowed to have boundaries. That they should be flattered by sexual attention. That their discomfort is a flaw in the man, not a failure of the situation. That a man’s silence means yes.
So when a male celebrity tenses up or shifts uncomfortably after being called “daddy,” we don’t pause. We dismiss him. We say:
“Come on, it’s just a joke.”
“He’s hot. He can take it.”
“It’s part of the job.”
That’s not the language of consent. That’s the language of normalized entitlement.
Now compare that to when I commented on Shawn Hatosy’s TikTok and said he was “so babygirl-coded.” And he liked it.
Why? Because “babygirl,” as it functions in contemporary online fan culture, isn’t built on dominance or performance. It doesn’t demand control. It doesn’t assign erotic authority. It’s a term that signals affection, vulnerability, softness—a playful, sometimes absurd, often tender reverence for men who deviate from traditional masculinity.
That kind of language lives within fandom culture—inside our sandboxes. And when I call someone “babygirl-coded,” that person can ignore it, engage with it, scroll past, or opt in. There’s no pressure. It’s an aesthetic label, not a demand. So when Shawn likes that comment, he’s participating on his own terms. That’s what parasocial consent looks like: voluntary, pressure-free, and rooted in choice.
Now imagine if I had written, “You’re such a daddy. Ruin me.” Totally different tone. Totally different power dynamic. Even if he never saw it, I’d still be inserting a kink-coded script into a public space as if he had agreed to it. And if he had seen it and felt uncomfortable? The onus would fall on him to disengage quietly or laugh it off, because culturally, we’ve given men almost no tools to say “no” without backlash.
Feminist methodology asks better questions:
Whose comfort is protected?
Whose silence is treated as consent?
Whose body is seen as public property?
Whose boundaries get overwritten for the sake of the bit?
We know the answers. They’re gendered. And they’re broken.
When a man is called “daddy” during a press tour, he’s not being asked to play. He’s being expected to perform, sexually, powerfully, on command. And if he doesn’t? The consequences aren’t just social, they’re structural. He’s seen as less fun. Less marketable. Less valuable as content.
That isn’t just unfair. It’s anti-consensual.
As Sara Ahmed writes, to be the one who names a problem is so often to become the problem. The one who says “this feels off,” “this crosses a line,” or simply, “this makes me uncomfortable” is marked as difficult, humorless, or ungrateful. We see this dynamic unfold constantly with male celebrities—especially those who don’t laugh when called “daddy” in person, or who subtly resist being pulled into a sexualized performance they didn’t agree to.
When a man sets a boundary, even quietly, he disrupts the fantasy. And instead of asking what created the discomfort, the culture asks why he couldn't just go along. Because admitting that men can say no, that they’re allowed to feel uneasy, that they don’t exist for our projection, requires challenging the very entitlement fandom often runs on.
So let’s be clear: You can thirst. You can spiral. You can bark, cry, and post your little essays about his shoulders in peace. You can call him whatever in your sandbox corner of the internet.
But forcing someone into your kink-coded fantasy in person, without their consent, and then reacting negatively when they don’t play along, isn’t empowering. It’s not subversive. It’s just public boundary crossing, dressed up as flirtation.
It’s not “owning the gaze.” It’s replicating it—just with the roles reversed.
And reversing the roles isn’t the same as dismantling them.
Roles—no matter how ironic or reversed—are still roles. And assigning someone a role without their participation isn’t liberation. It’s just performance under pressure.
So yes, he’s a grown man.
And that’s exactly why his boundaries matter—especially because he’s not just a celebrity, but a real person, and a parent. Being called “daddy” in person, during a professional setting, isn’t just awkward—it’s an unsolicited invitation into a kink-coded dynamic he didn’t agree to. And when that man is a father in real life, the term becomes even more jarring, blurring roles in a way that’s neither funny nor flattering. His visibility shouldn’t come with the expectation that he absorb sexual projection or emotional labor just to keep the mood light. Silence is not consent. And feminist ethics, if we’re actually practicing them, demand more than clever thirst and role reversal. They require awareness, accountability, and respect for boundaries, no matter who you’re talking to or how attractive you think they are.
And if your only defense is “He can take it,” you’ve already admitted he might not want it, and decided you didn’t care.
That’s not fandom. That’s entitlement. Wrapped in a punchline and passed off as progressive. (referencing this interview)

chapter eight when some clout chaser claims to be the mystery girl in the photo, Hiori shuts down the rumors and teases about the girl who truly has his heart blue lock longfic series pairing hiori yo x reader contains fluff, post blue lock timeskip, afab!reader masterlist
The speculations about Hiori’s mystery girl are definitely one of the highlights of his career.
Ironically, he finds it funny how people react to it. He’s already been scolded by both the team manager and the marketing manager, each lecturing him about how careless he’s been. It’s not like there’s anything inherently wrong with dating, especially as an athlete. Though it seems like he was scolded for not giving them a heads up and keeping it a secret.
His parents, on the other hand, are pretty much predictable. His dad stays quiet about these sorts of things, but his mom? She makes it a huge deal. Despite their issues, she still showers him with love and attention in her own overbearing, only-child-parent way. She’s adamant that he’s been hiding the girl from her because he’s embarrassed or something.
Not to mention, his friends and teammates. His Bastard Munchen teammates—not exactly the epitome of calm, cool and connectedness as how they would look.
The moment he arrived into a field for training, Isagi sprints at him at high speed, like golden retriever finally seeing its best friend. Igaguri and Raichi moan about how unfair it is for Hiori to get a girlfriend before them. The older members, Geisner, Bachs and even Ndiaye praised him as if he scored a goal.
Even Noa himself gives him an approving nod, “at least we know you’re normal-er than the rest of these football heads.”
Again, a wild reaction from everyone.
Sure, he’s not the only eligible bachelor in the field, nay, in his team who have been elusive or secretive about their relationships. But sports gossip writers love to eat up news like this. Like vultures circling around a carcass, the media (even fans) are waiting to pounce on him any moment.
“Who’s the girl you were caught kissing at the JFA party?”
“Do you finally have a girlfriend?”
“Is your girlfriend a celebrity?”
It’s the same old question every single time. And for Hiori, it gets tiring. He should be answering questions about the game, the team’s performance and plans ahead this season. People are too hung up on who’s his “flavor of the month”, as if he’s Oliver freaking Aiku.
But he knows how to play the game. It’s just like playing a visual novel. His answers already predetermined, all of them would either deflect or shut down the whole topic all together.
“I have no idea what yer talkin’ about.”
“Are ya sure that’s me? Doesn’t look like me?”
“Looks edited though, don’tcha think?”
Like he promised you, he won’t disclose anything to the media or anyone else. Not that he’s the type to kiss and tell. But he won’t confirm or deny it either. He finds it fun to watch people squirm, teetering on the edge of curiosity and frustration.
Plus, he values his privacy. That’s how it’s always been, and it’s how it always will be.
Still, beneath his calm demeanor, Hiori worries he might fumble this. He likes you—really likes you. Enough to avoid making mistakes that might scare you off.
Fine, he likes you a lot. More than he thinks you even realize.
In the months before you started dating, he found himself looking forward to every conversation with you, whether it was online or during work. He’d take whatever crumbs he could get, so to speak.
That’s why he got so frustrated when you started showing up way less for interviews. He understood it was just part of your job, something entirely out of his control. But when you got reassigned to other teams, it did threaten him.
You were a natural at what you did—fun, easygoing, and effortlessly charming. No wonder he felt at ease with you from the get go. So it was just a matter of time till others saw you the way he did.
Athletes like them are human after all.
When Nagi—and, surprisingly, Reo—tried to squeeze into the picture, that did it for him. He hated how it felt, the simmering jealousy that crept in every time he saw them be all chummy with you. No amount of goals scored against Manshine City could ease the sinking feeling of losing you to one of them. Or, worse, both of them.
Hiori never thought of himself as the jealous type. But now he knows better. He despises the feeling. The tightness in his chest, the restless nights replaying imagined scenarios. Yet, there’s also a quiet satisfaction now. You chose him.
Not publicly known, not splashed across headlines. But still, you’re his. If he gets jealous, he knows he’s not overreacting.
“I know who she is!” Isagi sing-songs, jogging over to the bench.
Hiori offers him a water bottle, cocking an eyebrow. “Whatcha mean?”
Isagi displays a shit eating grin, practically glowing with mischief. “I know who the girl is. Ness knows, too.”
Ness, approaching from behind, offers a polite smile—a polite smile that makes Hiori’s stomach drop.
“Nah, ya don’t,” Hiori says, chuckling nervously.
“We do,” Isagi insists.
“Ya don’t,” Hiori repeats.
“Well, we do,” Ness interjects smoothly. “Reo told us about how you cockblocked him and Nagi at the party.”
Hiori freezes, sweat beading on his forehead. “What?”
“You guys weren’t exactly subtle when you bailed,” Isagi adds, his shit-eating grin growing wider. “Miss Journalist seems to be really into y—what the hell, Hiori!”
A towel smacks Isagi square in the face. “Shaddap!” Hiori hisses, putting a finger to his lips.
Ness snickers, and Isagi pulls the towel off, laughing. “Alright, fine, ya got me. But can ya two keep it down? We just started dating,” Hiori mutters, massaging his temples.
“Relax, I’m not gonna spill,” Ness says with a wave of his hand but he gives a small smile, amused by Hiori’s reactions.
“Gotcha,” Isagi says, mock-saluting. “But, man, I didn’t know you had that kind of ‘HioRizz.’”
Hiori groans, glaring at Isagi. “I swear to God, if ya don’t shut up, I’ll leave ya out of every pass next game.”
Ness bursts out laughing. “Don’t worry, Isagi. I’ll pass to you.”
“Hiori has more rizz than Yukimiya! I should take notes!” Isagi jokes, only for Hiori to smack him on the arm before chasing him down the field.
Despite the chaos, Hiori can’t help but feel a warm sense of pride. These guys might be loud and annoying, but they’re also the ones he trusts most. And in a way, it feels nice to share this secret with them—a small piece of his happiness.
Because you’re his. And he’s yours. And to Hiori, that means everything.
“So… you’re telling me this is you?” Your roommate, Miko, thrusts her phone in your direction, her finger pointing dramatically at the paparazzi photo of you and Hiori plastered on her screen.
It’s only been a week since the photo started making rounds online, but you’ve been caught staring at it one too many times by Miko, your eagle-eyed, ever-curious roommate. Today, you finally caved. The whirlwind of emotions bubbling inside was too much to handle alone.
And now, you just had to tell her because things are driving you crazy at this point.
“Yup.” The two of you are sitting side by side on the couch. She grills you with her own paparazzi-like questions while you sink in further the couch, the unfinished article on the laptop you’ve been drafting long forgotten at this point.
Miko squints at you, her head tilting as she studies the image like a detective analyzing evidence. Her brow furrows, and then, as if struck by a sudden epiphany, she gasps.
She springs up from her seat, pointing at your face accusingly. “Aha! Is this the guy you—" she gestures vaguely but suggestively with her hand, “—you know, slept with after that work party?”
“Yes, it’s him. No, we didn’t ‘sleep’ together.” You can’t help but laugh as you swat her finger away. “We shared the same bed, yes. But nothing happened.”
Miko raises an incredulous eyebrow. “Sure, sure. A pretty girl like you, and he didn’t try anything? In this economy?” She blows a dramatic raspberry and plops back against the couch, clearly unimpressed.
Your cheeks burn, recounting the night you spent with Hiori. It was intimate—sweet and wholesome in a way that still made your chest flutter when you thought about it. The kisses, his touches. It only makes you yearn for it more.
The morning after was even better. You spending a whole Saturday with him was like magic.
She idly giggles to herself as she scrolls more on her phone, probably to stalk Hiori. The girl is chronically online so her stalking (research skills as she calls it) skills are on par with yours. She could be a damn good journalist if she wants to.
“You’re such a perv, Miko,” you say, swatting her with a throw pillow.
“Says the girl who drools on this guy's sweaty photos,” she shoots back, laughing as she scrolls furiously on her phone. “Wait a minute—oh, damn. This guy’s a big deal. National team and Bastard München? He’s a whole package!”
You glance over her shoulder, smiling despite yourself. At 26, Hiori’s resume is nothing short of legendary. Back when you were just another journalist in the crowd, you’d been blown away by his talent. It was his brilliance on the field that inspired you to write that first viral article—the one that caught his eye.
Even now, it feels surreal. How did you go from admiring him from afar to… this?
“And you’re okay with not going public?” Miko asks, her tone softer this time. Her eyes flick briefly to you, filled with concern. She’s seen you through your fair share of bad relationships—flings that went nowhere and heartbreaks that left their marks.
“Yeah,” you answer, though there’s a hesitation in your voice. “Honestly, I’m kind of relieved. I don’t even want to imagine how people would react if they knew I was just… me. An ordinary nobody.”
Miko slams her phone down dramatically. “First of all, you’re not a nobody. You’re the girl who single-handedly brought Bastard München back into the spotlight. You’re the one who made everyone see their worth when they were tanking. You’re that bitch.”
You can’t help but laugh at her enthusiasm, leaning into the side hug she gives you.
“But seriously,” you admit, letting out a long sigh, “it feels unreal. Like… we’re from completely different worlds. If this got out, I don’t think I’d be ready for the fallout. People would rip me apart.”
Miko frowns but says nothing, letting you pass her your phone. Together, you scroll through the endless speculation about Hiori’s mystery girl. Post after post describes someone glamorous and unattainable—completely unlike you.
“That’s ridiculous,” Miko says, her voice dripping with disdain. But before you can reply, she suddenly gasps so loudly that you nearly drop your phone.
“What now?” you ask, startled.
She shoves her phone into your hands, her eyes wide with a mixture of disbelief and fury. On the screen is a video of a rising sports influencer, her perfectly curated appearance making her look every bit the part of someone destined for the spotlight.
The interviewer’s voice is casual, almost playful. “So, you attended the recent JFA party?”
The influencer smiles coyly, a soft, practiced laugh escaping her lips. “Oh, of course. I was there.”
You can feel the tension building as the interviewer leans in slightly, their tone dropping to something conspiratorial. “And… given your connections to Bastard München and your shared sponsor, you must know Hiori Yo?”
The influencer’s eyes sparkle, and she lets out a delighted giggle. “Well, who doesn’t know Hiori? He’s incredible—on and off the field.”
Pfft. As if she knows anything about Hiori and his brilliance.
“So… are you the girl Hiori Yo was caught kissing that night?” Your stomach twists as the interviewer delivers the bombshell, their voice taking on an almost teasing quality.
The influencer doesn’t answer immediately. Instead, she tucks a strand of hair behind her ear, her fingers lingering as if to draw attention to the gesture. Then she twirls a lock of hair, her eyes flitting away from the camera for just a moment before returning with a mischievous glint.
“Well… isn’t that for everyone to wonder?” she says, her lips curving into a playful smirk. The answer is deliberately vague, but the mischievous glint in her eyes speaks volumes, leaving just enough room for everyone’s imagination to run wild.
Miko explodes. “The audacity!” she practically shouts, throwing her hands in the air. “What is wrong with her? She’s milking this for clout! And the interviewer—ugh!”
You can’t even respond. Your gaze is glued to the screen, your chest tightening with every second of the video. The influencer’s words replay in your head, her casual demeanor and sly smile feeding into the storm of doubts you’ve tried so hard to suppress.
Miko’s rant continues unabated. “She didn’t even deny it! She knows exactly what she’s doing. God, people like her make me so mad.” She paces the room, her gestures wild and exaggerated, but you barely register her words.
Your stomach churns as you scroll through the comments beneath the video.
she’s stunning—definitely Hiori’s type. this makes so much sense they’d look so good together
Each comment feels like a jab, their assumptions cutting deeper than you thought possible. The image of you and Hiori, so ordinary and imperfect in comparison, flashes in your mind.
You glance down at yourself: wearing your favorite but worn-out pajamas, the fabric soft from too many washes. Your hair is in a messy bun, a few strands rebelliously sticking out. You’re comfortable, sure, but the reflection from the phone staring back feels painfully ordinary.
The woman in the video, with her flawless hair and perfectly styled outfit, radiates a charisma that seems effortless. She looks like someone who commands attention the moment she steps into a room, someone whose beauty turns heads without trying.
Normally, you wouldn’t care about looking “normal.” Most days, you’re content in your own skin, finding beauty in your own way. But this? This moment makes you feel like just another face in the crowd. No striking features, no captivating allure. Just plain, unremarkable. And right now, “normal” feels less like a badge of self-acceptance and more like a curse.
Miko stops mid-rant when she notices the look on your face. “Hey, don’t let this get to you,” she says, her voice softening. She sits back down beside you, placing a comforting hand on your shoulder. “People love drama, and she’s giving it to them.”
“But what if people believe her?” you ask quietly, the vulnerability in your voice startling even yourself. “What if they think she’s better for him?”
She shakes her head firmly. “You can’t let strangers decide what’s best for him or for you. Hiori chose you, not some influencer fishing for likes. That says more than any of this nonsense ever could.”
You nod slowly, though the unease lingers. Deep down, you know she’s right. But as you hand her phone back, the thought persists: How long before the world finds out—and what happens when they do?
You spend the next weekend with Hiori at his apartment. Again.
This routine has become a comforting tradition. Every Friday after work, you and Hiori grab dinner, sharing stories about your day. By the time the last train rolls in, you’re on your way to his apartment, lugging a slightly larger backpack than usual. Inside are the essentials: a change of clothes, skincare, and personal items, neatly packed alongside your work things.
It’s mundane yet romantic, this little ritual you’ve built together. Friday nights are reserved for catching up, sharing laughter, and exchanging updates about work and personal lives.
During one of these chats, he casually mentioned that Isagi and Ness know about the two of you now. You shared that Miko, your closest friend and roommate, knows too. But you couldn’t bring yourself to tell him about the video. Not yet.
That Friday night, you binge-watch movies. This time, some of his favorites, including SPEC. It’s endearing to see him so animated as he talks about what he loves, his passion stretching beyond football.
Curled up on the couch together, a blanket draped over you, everything feels natural. His arm rests over your shoulders, pulling you close as you melt into his side. Occasionally, he leans in to kiss you—your knuckles, your cheek, the top of your head—absentmindedly, his eyes never leaving the screen. The faint scent of his body wash lingers in the air, grounding you in this moment, so intimate yet exhilarating.
By the time the third movie ends, you’re both ready to tuck in for the night. As you drift off in his arms, the comfort and warmth feel whole, complete.
You always wake up earlier than him. It’s a small, heartwarming detail you love about these mornings. He even got you your own coffee mug. A matching set of Nier Automata ones for both of you. With coffee in hand, you lounge in the living room, flipping through a book while the quiet hum of his apartment surrounds you.
Later, you make brunch together, settling into the kind of domesticity that makes your heart flutter. Saturdays with Hiori are always this way—unhurried and easy. You both slip into a rhythm that feels like second nature, each finding comfort in the other's presence.
When he’s gaming on his PC, you’re nearby doing some light work on your laptop, occasionally glancing up to watch his focus. When he switches to his PS5, you curl up beside him on the couch, yapping about the book or manga you’re reading as your fingers absentmindedly play with his hair. He listens quietly, humming in acknowledgment now and then, his contentment reflected in the small smile that lingers on his face.
It’s the kind of quiet companionship that makes everything feel right—as if the two of you were meant to exist in this peaceful harmony.
But this time, something disrupts the vibe.
Standing by the sink, phone in hand, your brow furrows as the video plays again. It’s the same one. The influencer, the coy smile, the teasing comments. You try to push it aside, but the weight of it lingers.
“Hey, you okay?” Hiori’s voice startles you. He’s slipped behind you, his hands resting gently on your waist as he presses a kiss to the top of your head.
“God, Hiori, you scared me!” You fumble with your phone, but instead of turning it off, the volume spikes, making you jump. Flustered, you quickly lower it.
“What was that?” he asks, noticing the unease in your expression.
You hesitate but eventually lead him to the couch, where you show him the video. As he watches, you fidget, your fingers twisting nervously in your lap.
“I just… it’s been bothering me,” you admit finally, your voice trembling. “Even though we’ve been dating for a few weeks now, I can’t shake this feeling that our worlds are too different. It’s pathetic that I let it bother me.”
Before he can respond, you continue, a weak laugh escaping you. “I know we’ve talked about this, but… it just gets to me sometimes.”
Hiori pauses, then gently pulls you into his arms. “Hey, s’fine. I understand. Don’t worry about them, ‘kay?” His voice is soft but steady, grounding you.
You feel his sincerity, but the nagging fear remains. “I don’t want to scare you with these feelings,” you confess, your voice barely above a whisper.
“And I wantcha ya to know ya won’t scare me. Ever.” He tilts your chin up, meeting your eyes. “Is there anything I can do to help ease yer mind?”
You shake your head, smiling faintly. “Just this… spending time with you like this, it’s enough for me.” But then, gathering your courage, you add, “Actually… I was wondering if I could take you out. On a proper date. Something special. Just the two of us.”
His eyes widen slightly in surprise, but his smile grows almost immediately. “You’re asking me out, huh?” He chuckles, leaning in to kiss on the lips. “Of course. I can’t wait to see what you’ve got planned.”
And for the first time in days, the weight in your chest feels a little lighter.
When midweek rolls in, you know you'll be too preoccupied since it always comes with an avalanche of tasks, and today is no different.
You're neck-deep in work, juggling content planning for upcoming videos and articles while checking in with interns you’re supervising. They're compiling research on volleyball, basketball, and surprisingly, esports, which they’ve informed you is “the next big thing.”
You slump back in your chair, fingers aching from typing, and let out a long exhale. Cracking your knuckles, you reach for your coffee, savoring the warmth as it spreads through you. It’s moments like this when caffeine feels less like a drink and more like a lifeline for your overworked soul.
Your phone buzzes on the desk, lighting up with a notification. It’s a message from Hiori.
Oooh, a Hiori pick-me-up, you think, already feeling a smile creep onto your face. Just what you need to get through this impending burnout.
The message is short:
hiori: watch fer a surprise
Attached is a link. Intrigued, you click it, and a video opens.
It’s a recent press interview featuring Hiori. He looks effortlessly charming in a black hoodie, his hair perfectly tousled in that way that reminds you of lazy weekends spent curled up on his couch. You remember him mentioning this event last weekend, but seeing him on screen still catches you off guard.
The interviewer’s question catches your attention: “So, Hiori, there’s been a lot of buzz about you and a certain sports influencer lately. Any truth to those rumors?”
Your chest tightens slightly at the mention.
Hiori tilts his head, his expression as calm and composed as ever. “Sorry, who?” he replies, his tone laced with subtle mischief. “Oh, you mean the one who has the same sponsor with our team?”
Ness, seated beside him, nudges him gently, a silent reminder to tread carefully.
The interviewer presses on. “Yes. Rumors are that she's the mystery girl you're dating. Is she?”
Hiori chuckles lightly, dismissing the question with his usual nonchalance. “Nope, not at all. We’ve never even talked to each other.”
And then, just when you think he’s moved on, he adds, “Besides, I like my girl who’s a little nerdy, enjoys the same things I do outside of football, and, oh yeah—she talks a lot.”
Your breath catches.
The comments section beneath the video is already buzzing. Fans are losing it over his indirect confirmation of the photo rumors.
did he just confirm he's taken? he’s confirming without really confirming it! whoever the mystery girl is, she’s lucky af. i will crawl in a hole and cry
But you’re not focused on them.
Hiori’s words replay in your mind, each one feeling like it was chosen just for you. He didn’t name names, but the teasing specificity left no doubt in your heart. This was his way of sharing a piece of his life with the world—without giving too much away.

Curios how creative director became a scapegoat while lead writer is almost unanimously treated as a victim who fought against “bad creative directions” however they could.
While I personally believe their writing was the best DAV offered (Solas), but story cohesion, pacing, inconsistent protagonist’ voice, overall confusion what is the game tries to teach us had many issues. It all comes under umbrella of what lead writer is responsible for. There is some hard pill to swallow: sometimes one can be a great writer, but lack what it takes to enable and provide leadership to people who follow.
It also concerns J E, of course. (Minus writing part. Sorry, but I don’t think you can just switch specialisations without compromising the quality of what you produce.)
I encourage everyone to find old panel discussion with ex creative director Mike Laidlaw and a couple more directors/leads of DAI. And compare segments on lore/characters with post Veilguard AMA.
Working in a AAA company myself, I can’t stress enough how integral good leadership and coherent game vision is. What I noticed happening at my place (and what I highly suspect happened at Bio) is big corporations motto “director/lead has left, let’s find replacement in the team. It’s both cheaper and they will onboard faster”. Candidate’s competence becomes secondary to history they had with a company. And it backfires more often than not. Because it also harder to give objective feedback on how good of a lead your pal you spent years having lunch with is. How they perform on a managerial position.
i 100% agree. i think to answer your original question; its literally just that epler has been more vocal and visible, both during marketing and post-release. trick has barely spoken about the game and thus we have nothing to go off of regarding their thoughts, but i agree that its not fair to completely exonerate them of all responsibility for the poor writing. epler just gave us a window into the thought process behind this game with his comments during that AMA that we have not gotten anywhere else, aside from a few tweets, and so he became the scapegoat. i think theres also something to say for he and corrinne being thrown on that AMA and all the interviews rather than someone trained in PR and marketing. i think trick was a fantastic writer, and i think epler was a fantastic cinematic designer. but those two jobs have nothing to do with leading an entire team. leadership and managerial skills are their own unique skillset that do not come naturally to most. people literally get entire masters degrees in such things. i think they both got put in impossible situations; roles that did not match their strengths

Louis Tomlinson's 35-hour marathons in Chile: the singer who revived pop fanaticism

Fans crowded at the airport, the hotel, the radio and the stadium; the four stops that the British artist had on his fleeting return to the country last April. On May 24, he returns to perform his fourth solo show after filling the Movistar Arena three times in 2022, and expectations are high. What does the artist have who came to think that he would be nothing without One Direction and today he moves masses? Those who witnessed his last visit decipher it.
By Dove Couple, 16 May 2024
If it weren't for the teenagers of the 60s, -in part- The Beatles would not be the legend they are today. That so-called "uncontrolled fanaticism" resulted in a single word: Beatlemania. The girls were called hysterical, however they were the first people to see the potential of John, Paul, George and Ringo.
FIRST STOP: SANTIAGO AIRPORT
On the night of April 3, the performer stepped on Chile for the third time, the first approach with his fans was at Santiago Airport, who waited anxiously for him after his flash visit was surprisingly confirmed to promote his May 24 show at the La Florida Bicentennial Stadium.
At 32 years old, the Briton already had experience in our territory, he had tried success in 2014, when he came as a member of One Direction with some very young Zayn, Liam, Harry and Niall. The group filled the National Stadium twice.
"Since their last three shows at Movistar Arena in 2022, the girls have been asking when the new tour begins, and the expectation is to see Louis' growth on stage," Rodrigo Ostolaza, Representative in Chile of the BMG label, and in charge of marketing and promotion, told La Cuarta.
Tomlinson greeted kindly those who were waiting for him, but visibly tired, he went straight to the Mandarin Hotel - where there was another group of young people shouting his name - that was his "home" for the about 35 hours he stayed in the country.

SECOND STOP: RADIO LOS40
The next day, he had scheduled a visit to Los40 radio, where he spoke live with the host Martina Orrego and answered the questions asked by the followers who won a contest to meet him. While others crowded on the outskirts of the Iberoamericana building.
"It was something that didn't happen a long time ago, but in a way I expected it, he is an artist who has an important fan, his audience has accompanied him in the development of his career, so I found it very exciting," Orrego confided to us.
The co-director of Los40 and creator of the program Mujeres Que Suenan, said that one of the most entertaining things "was to have the fans on the radio and that they could share more closely with him. It's something that happens so rarely and they were wonderful, they behaved super well."
THIRD STOP: HOTEL MANDARÍN
Back at the hotel, Louis had a press round with various media, including La Cuarta.
"What he provokes is something super unique and special, he is an artist very close to his fans and concerned about his environment, that the person who interviews him or talks to him is comfortable or comfortable," Rafaella Fornazzari, Media Manager of DG Media, in charge of the concert, told us.
The return of the star had the production company until the wee hours of the morning enlisting details. "Louis' visit was a nice challenge, it's been a long time since an international artist in this category came to promote a tour, we had to work together with the entire region where he will be performing with his 'Faith in the Future World Tour'," Rafaella added.
FOURTH STOP: BICENTENARY STADIUM
Indeed, his fleeting passage through South America included Brazil, Chile and Argentina; and in all these countries he visited the venues where he would appear. In which he took advantage of playing football for a while, recalling his past as a Doncaster Rovers footballer. And yes, he took the luxury of scoring a goal.
There he also had a meet and greet with followers, but the fans who were waiting outside the venue did not run with the same luck, they only saw him for a couple of seconds through the van that took him out of the place. Even so, they were happy.
THE SECRET OF SUCCESS
The expectations of the May 24 show are very high. "It comes with a new album and that immediately translates into a different show than those of 2022. In addition, it has the challenge of a larger capacity enclosure," Fornazzari revealed. "He is a very committed artist and involved with his career, he likes to deliver the best," he added.
For his part, Rodrigo Ostolaza hopes: "To see the Bicentennial Stadium full, he brought as a drag what was the One Direction phenomenon and those concerts they did at the National Stadium. It always moved a lot of people, and that lasted over time."
For Ostolaza, what happened in April reminded him of the visit to Chile of the RBD Mexicans, at the peak of his career: "We took them to Mekano and it was also crazy, a little what happened to Louis." Martina Orrego says that the effervescence that was lived can be assimilated to contemporary phenomena such as K-pop.
And the performer, who at some point thought he could not continue without One Direction, today has two successful albums - "Walls" and "Faith in the Future" - countless triumphs and a loyal community that he loves, protects and defends.
Unlike other singers, he does not charge for meet and greet, the events are always competitive, his lyrics go deep but he does not release so many commercial songs - as in his boyband time - that they can easily enter the radios, that's why the challenge of moving the masses is greater; on the other hand, fashion or social networks are not his strength, his thing is the live shows and the charts, where he goes up with his pop rock sound.
So, what is his secret? Beyond talent and charisma, he is a recognized worker, he finished a tour and immediately started another; and above all, he is close, simple and connected with people. Records sharing distly with your followers abound on the Internet.
"The successful boybands after a break have had their members as soloists. The 1Ds were the new generation of the good and beautiful that pop delivered, now Louis is the soloist who remains in contact with his fans," Fornazzari concluded.
Louis Tomlinson will perform at the La Florida Bicentennial Stadium on May 24. The latest tickets are still available through Ticketmaster.cl

I've been going down the rabbit hole and stumbled on interviews of the boys about Haylor and I try not to really lean into the shipping thing, but I have to admit, Louis attitude over Haylor or any time Taylor was brought up, the sass, the annoyance, him speaking on it instead of ignoring and having a smug look on his face, makes me laugh every time. It still makes me wonder cause clearly he has no problem with her now. And maybe didn't even back then, but back then he did seem to not be a fan of that relationship. Was it over Harry? Was it cause the relationship was starting to overshadow the band's hard work and other members and the members being questioned about Haylor constantly became annoying, cause you could see early on the media was pushing Harry as the star of the band. Or is it cause he knew it was maybe a PR set up, to further push Harry away and maybe not a real genuine relationship and he thought it was wrong and was not on board with it. I guess we will never know the real reason. Also when she openly shaded Harry, Louis didn't seem to like that at all either. Whatever the reason, his clear annoyance over it cannot be denied and I giggle every time. Sass master.
Well, looking back on it from the perspective of 2024, I will ask a few questions that I have no answers to.
1. To me, Haylor was very obviously a PR set up. It didn’t last long, and there wasn’t exactly fireworks, but it functioned as pop culture gossip so well that both Taylor and Harry used this “relationship” to promote their music even 5-7 years after the fact. No one was victimized. Both benefited.
2. The question is, who set it up?
3. Syco PR was handled by second-rate UK hacks with direct access to UK tabloids, with Dan Wootton being the main point of contact (Simon Jones was a good friend of his at that time). They had no known relationship with Taylor’s management or marketing. Taylor was dating higher profile men; she would probably not be the instigator. In 2012, Sony was not yet in control of 1DHQ marketing. So once again my question is— who set it up?
4. This is entirely speculative, but very shortly after Haylor, the Azoffs entered the picture. Jeff Azoff, who had worked for his dad’s Frontline Management, resigned and joined CAA in October 2012 (funny timing, isn’t it?). As a rep in a different company, Jeff was free to befriend Harry Styles without appearing to poach him for Irving’s music management company. Serendipitously for Jeff and Harry, Irving Azoff Jeff was able to form Full Stop Management as soon as 1D went on hiatus! March 2016. Quel surprise.
5. Right after Haylor, in 2013 Harry started dating Azoff friend-of-the-family Kendall Jenner. From 2013-2015, Harry dated multiple Victoria’s Secret models. Dating Kendall had the same effect on pop culture as Taylor, basically to create Harry Styles gossip and topical discussion. In addition, VS marketing guy Ed Razek was an industry friend of Irving Azoff. Probably this professional connection gave Harry access to the models, as well as inspired the song Only Angel on HS1 which Harry then performed at the VS Fashion Show in 2017. Interestingly, Ed Razek was a VIP at Harry’s Radio City show in 2017. FWIW the New York Times investigated Victoria’s Secret and Razek in 2020 for “widespread bullying and harassment.” A landmark lawsuit on a culture of harassment was settled in 2022.
6. I doubt that neither Harry nor any of the 1D men knew any of the nitty gritty details back then. They weren’t thinking longterm like Irving was. Harry wanted to be famous, and this powerful Hollywood insider guy took Harry under his wing and painted a pretty intoxicating picture of the future. Harry was so enamored that he was adopted by the family. But maybe that didn’t even exceed the reality of what he has now.
7. As for Louis, I think he must have been annoyed that the distraction over Harry took focus and precedence over the business of the band— basically, being a band. I think it was at this time that Harry started living with Ben Winston. I also think that Louis, who had been closest to Harry, took it personally. Whether he admitted it or not, he saw the cracks developing and worried it was the beginning of the end. He might even have felt resentment. There was some element of helplessness. But Haylor was short-lived and everything carried on.
#haylor#Ed Razek#Harry Styles#one direction#taylor swift#full stop management#Jeff Azoff#Simon Cowell has an entire encyclopedia of unsavory contacts in his past too#louis tomlinson

Okay, I Am Still spoilers under the cut. Let's do this.
Oh boy, that was something.
Seeing Jungkook made me so happy and at peace. His bright smile makes me happy. I felt so much love for him, so real and deep that it's surreal I feel that way and that my love for him has grown so much throughout chapter 2 - and that I've loved him for 5 years now... When the first Golden performance was played, I really felt so serene and present. I wanted to close my eyes. My problems felt so far away and I was grateful to be alive and to be alive at the same time as Jungkook. I often think this, but as long as Jungkook is happy, then at least one person I really love is okay, and that makes living a little bit easier. So I often plead to myself for him to be happy and have a happy ever after (as much as possible in a world where sickness and death are guaranteed). So, thank you, Jungkook, for every bit of comfort and happiness you give me, and for filling my heart when I feel that it is so hollow. I'm so proud of you. I was so proud seeing your journey.
I was also so moved at the end of the movie... Magic Shop played, then the black screen thanking Army showed up (tears), followed by Jungkook shaving his hair for the military... His hairstylist cried... It was sweet and sad, I love how much everyone loves Jungkook. He hugged his hairstylist was sweetly and acted bravely. And then Jimin showed up and Jungkook acted silly for him... The doc ended. with Jungkook making a funny face... It felt very Jungkook. It left me feeling happy, sad, grateful, touched, and overwhelmed all at once.
I guess the documentary also made me feel bad for how critical I am of him. It's just my nature. I feel things very deeply or very shallowly...
Now, other thoughts and criticism:
Most of the doc was rather underwhelming. I paid too much to see something that could've been available for free on YT. It had about the same quality as LSRF's docs tbh. They could've hired a really good producer instead.
I get the story they were telling, but it left much to be desired. The timeline was all over the place, and they overall showed very little given the material they must have. They could've dug so much deeper and shown so much more of Jungkook - which is what I believe he probably wanted. They showed so much old footage, like some of his performances and interviews. It was all about showing his success, talent, and perseverance. That's great and all, but it doesn't make the doc insightful or new.
I wanted to really see the process of creating Golden. Not just him recording stuff and traveling the world, but discussing the songs, the MVs. Why did he release the explicit version of Seven - what was that discussion like? Why he decide on collabs? How did he choose the songs? Why did he decide to make an English album after 3D - was it an easy choice or was he unsure about it? Did he give his input on the MVs? The doc doesn't answer these questions or truly show the decision-making process behind Golden, behind Seven, 3D, and SNTY. So it's less about Golden, and more about Jungkook's growth. I guess Golden is only about Jungkook proving something, but they could've done more, dug deeper, showed more of Golden since the doc is marketed as a "making of" Golden.
Still, it did show candid and very Jungkook-like moments and how his confidence in himself grew. It showed what his goals were, and I really relate to what he said about not knowing what the end goal is but that at least he's learning. I also don't know what I want my career to be yet, but I'm learning stuff and hopefully I'll figure it out.
I just expected more substance. Showing him perform and being interviewed was unnecessary. We've already seen all of that. Some performances and interview moments are fine, but there were too many imo. I also didn't like the quotes from some of the producers. Tbh, Jungkook would've made a much better documentary than Hybe. I was still satisfied in the end though.
On another note, I witnessed the Taekook effect for the first time irl. Some fans started yelling when V showed up - they either love V or Taekook, or both. No one really reacted with Jimin or Jikook...
This was my first time seeing BTS on the big screen. I'd never done it previously because I don't want to give Hybe money and because it didn't feel worth it. I was also very afraid of watching it with other Armys. I expected fans to yell when JK appeared shirtless, which they did, and they laughed and cooed a bit too much, but overall fans were quiet. Thankfully. That had been my biggest concern... The Portuguese just can't be bothered with anything.
Speaking of Portuguese, I paid 11 Euros for a movie that was translated into Brazilian Portuguese? I never thought an official movie would be shown in Portuguese from Brazil in Portugal. It is not the same as Portuguese from Portugal. A lot of the translation sounded off.
Anyway... what did you guys think? I have to eat now before I pass out. I'm so weak my arms and legs are tingling. And I bit all my nails during the doc because I was hungry lmao.
Edit: Forgot to add that beginning the doc with baby pictures of Jungkook was too cute. Also, I loved all the moments of Jungkook Jungkooking. Cause of death: Jungkook and his big, pretty eyes, and cute mannerisms, and perfect heart.

The pink carpet at the “Barbie” premiere in Los Angeles on Sunday night was riddled with self-proclaimed Barbie Girls, but five dolls and their seven Kens got heads turning and the internet talking.
Despite their massive popularity in the States, it's been years since VENUS has had proper US promotions. After their contracts were bought by Flowerbank Entertainment, the girls began making their way back into the western market releasing an English single "Wasabi", performing at Coachella, and now being featured on the Barbie soundtrack alongside rapper Flo Milli with the track "Pink Playhouse."
The group appeared on pink carpet dressed in custom-made iconic dresses from Barbie movies. Dressed as Odette from Barbie Swan Lake, Chloe stunned with platinum blond hair with bleached brows, her dewy makeup giving her an ethereal and unforgettable look. Yoonah stood in the center dressed in an iridescent pink dress, paying homage to Clara of Barbie and The Nutcracker, dawning new blond hair as well. Jiah and Sena caused "The Princess and the Pauper" to trend on Twitter, posing hand in hand in their coordinating dresses and pretty smiles. Jiah dressed in blue as Erika the pauper and Sena as Princess Anneliese. Eldest member Aki was dressed in a long blond wing and purple gown, embodying Barbie Repunzle,
"Did you all dye your hair blond for this?" A Vogue reporter asks the girls, causing them all to giggle amongst each other. "No! Just me!" Chloe would answer, flipping her blond hair playfully before patting her roots to prove that her hair is dyed.
"We're so excited for this film. We're such a Barbie group. Our Jiah has been our Barbie for years now," Yoonah would go on to say, accent dripping from her words as she motions towards Jiah, who smiles at Yoonah and then nods at the camera.
"We're for the girls and Barbie has always been for the girls," Jiah comments as she leans towards the pink microphone.
The highly anticipated premier of VENUS's latest project had fans and fashion enthusiasts buzzing with excitement. However, the VENUS girls weren't the only ones making waves that night, as their brother group DeepDive made a memorable appearance by their side. While DeepDive preferred to stay low-key, allowing VENUS to take the spotlight, their outfits sparked a flurry of discussions across the internet.
Showcased from left to right: Jisung, Blue, Noah, Kiwoo, Woojin, Jacob, and Finn. Fans and fashion lovers alike were divided in their opinions, either loving or hating the ensembles.
Social media was abuzz with tweets expressing their thoughts on the outfits. "Do y'all think Jacob dressed himself?" one fan questioned, igniting a playful debate. Another chimed in, saying, "He's giving off country club Ken vibes. I don't know, but I kinda like it." However, it was Noah and Finn who managed to capture everyone's hearts, earning accolades for their impeccable "kenergy" during interviews and for their gallant acts, such as assisting their VENUS counterparts and even holding their purses.
During an interview, Finn casually remarked, "I'm just here as arm candy," flashing a charming smile. The interviewer couldn't help but laugh at his confident delivery, while the camera caught his shrug, adding to his undeniable charm. "Being a Ken is such an honor," he continued, captivating the audience. "I'm glad to have that title."
When asked about their outfits, Noah took the opportunity to shed some light, asserting, "He dressed everyone," as he pointed to Woojin, who modestly smiled, offering a shy bow and a wave to the camera. Woojin concurred with Noah's statement, gently placing a hand over his heart.
"I like pink. More boys should wear pink," Woojin explained, his radiant smile capable of making anyone weak in the knees. His words resonated with fans, who found his confidence and support for breaking gender norms utterly swoon-worthy.
The premier night was truly a spectacle, with VENUS and DeepDive making a lasting impression. As the discussion about their outfits rages on, one thing remains certain: this collaboration has left an indelible mark on the hearts of fans, and the fashion world will be buzzing about it for days to come.
.゚۪ ♡ ۫ ... FAVORITE MOMENTS !
a video taken by chloe of aki freaking out after meeting ryan gosling. all the girls are laughing at her as she freaks out against a wall, covering her face. "oh my god, i can't believe he's real." aki groans into her palms, shaking her head dramatically.
a fan taken video of finn holding the tail of sena's dress to help her walk with two different purses on his shoulder. despite being busy, he still smiles and waves to fans, looking like a prince as he does so.
jiah getting caught staring longingly at margot as they pose for a picture together.
jisung and yoonah posing for a picture together. they broke the internet with their visuals <//3
venus x flo milli group photo!! they all looked so happy to be together again, giggling and hugging one another when they reunited.
sena and dua lipa doing the flower challenge for venus' tiktok! sena would go onto say she was so excited to meet dua and still can't believe she knew her song.
a fan taken video of noah going "dude, is that ice spice?" with the most shocked expression on his face when he saw the woman herself. he managed to get a selfie with her that he would later post to his Instagram with the caption: "it's blurry bc i was shaking lol :)"
greta gerwin talking animatedly with jiah. nothing they said could be heard but fans would speculate that greta was trying to recruit her for her next movie. other constellations would make joke fake captions of the video.
yoonah gasping "karol g?!" when being told by a reporter that karol would be on the carpet. the pair would later take a photo together and yoonah would go onto say her dreams came true that night.
deepdive pulling out pink lemonade caprisuns for the whole group. no one knows where they kept them but they had one for all 12 of them.

fangirlish - ‘Interview with the Vampire’ Roundtable Interviews: Jacob Anderson, Sam Reid & Bailey Bass Talk Dark Gifts & Immortality

Ahead of the release of AMC’s Interview with the Vampire, we participated in the series’ virtual roundtable interview with Jacob Anderson, Sam Reid, and Bailey Bass. Before even getting into the insights the actors gave us into their experiences in playing these characters, let’s just be perfectly clear on a couple of things.
First off, these actors have done their research. And it shows.
And, for as great as the 1993 film was, the main research — especially for Reid — didn’t really come from there. As he told us, creator Rolin Jones’ “adaptation really spans the whole Vampire Chronicles book series.” That’s not to say that he doesn’t “love that film” (he does). But the series just doesn’t really reference it.
For Bass, who “wasn’t as familiar with the novel and the movie” during the audition process, though, “watching the movie was the fastest way [she] could be familiar” with the material. And, as she told us, “seeing Kirsten Dunst’s performance, and seeing how loud and unapologetic Claudia was, made me even more excited to be able to play her.”
Next, let’s talk about actors and perfect casting.
Anderson and Reid, who participated side-by-side from a single location, simply are Louis and Lestat. Not even just in the series. The energy between them — if watching the series itself wasn’t already clear enough proof — is Exhibit A for why they were clearly the only two people who could’ve played these characters.
So, of course, no one’s saying anybody here is actually a vampire, or actually part of this love story in real life…
But there is just something very there in the two actors that screams, “we were meant to be Anne Rice’s Brat Prince and his beloved sufferer.”
One of the places where this dynamic was most obvious, actually, was when we asked specifically about Louis’ use of certain Gifts in Interview with the Vampire.

Canonically, “I never revealed to him half my powers, and with reason, because he shrank in guilt and self-loathing from using even half of his own” (The Vampire Lestat, 2010 Ballentine Mass Market Edition, p. 498).
And yet, in AMC’s Interview with the Vampire…we see, perhaps, a slightly different Louis. We don’t doubt there’s still that old “guilt and self-loathing” somewhere, but he certainly accesses some interesting powers.
We asked if we might learn about that change, or if it maybe has to do with Louis’ future companions, or something else. And well. Let’s just say the shared, loaded looks and the way the actors finished each other’s sentences…was a lot.
Anderson started off the answer to this one, saying he knew what we were doing with this question, and Reid took over from there. “I’d just say, as somebody who…is a bit of a geek on these laws…And it is coming straight out of Anne Rice, when you drink from the vampire who turns you, you absorb their powers. Depending on how much you take, [it] also increases or decreases their powers.”
Here, Anderson picked the conversation back up in an attempt to keep everyone out of trouble. “I think, actually, we need to leave this question,” he told us. At that point, Reid interjected to agree, “yeah, just going to leave that there.” Anderson said we’d have to keep the question “a little bit more open” but confirmed we’re “on a track.”
And then, Reid promised we could “feel free to speculate.” Then again, as we were putting the subject to rest, and after Anderson thought they’d already said too much, Reid did push back in true Brat Prince fashion. He insisted, “it’s rule that exists in the universe, though.”
Also on the subject of powers Louis and Lestat have in Interview with the Vampire:
One of the questions that came up during the roundtable interview was which of the powers each actor would like to have. Reid answered first, saying “instinctively, you want to say flying. But the way he [Lestat] talks about flying is so terrifying…it’s obviously a horrible experience. So, I’m not going to go with flying.”
But Lestat’s other powers aren’t so attractive to wish for either: “And equally, mind reading would be extraordinary. But then again, quite painful to hear what people really think of you.” Eventually, Reid settled on Lestat’s “ability to hypnotize. His ability to get somebody to listen to him on an instant would be…not something that I necessarily want, but it would be a nice little power that you could have in your back pocket.”
At this point, the particular type of laughter from Reid was…pure Lestat. Not sure how else to describe it, so here we are. Another thing that’s pure Lestat? From there, Reid took the question and answer in his own direction.
“I think, you know, while vampires — and while I love them and do love Anne Rice and have for a long time — do seem, like, incredibly intoxicating, I think that a lot of…It’s actually quite a painful existence. And a lot of their gifts, and a lot of their power, come from a difficult place. And they challenge, and they work with them all the time.” He continued to say he thinks “Lestat wants Louis to love him without his powers.”
He also pointed toward plenty of times in Interview with the Vampire where Lestat could use his full powers to get out of virtually any situation — and doesn’t.
“But it’s because, all the time, he is trying to be loved for himself. He’s trying to be accepted for himself.” Even “when he’s violent, he often is violent just with his hands. He doesn’t actually use his…real power. So, you know, again, I guess that goes to show that there is a lot of guilt and a lot of struggle within being such a powerful being. So, I don’t know if I really want that. But it’s very, very fun to play.”
Anderson said he’d “take the Fire Gift,” which prompted a whole discussion from Reid about whether or not Lestat even has that Gift at this point in time. Yes, he also mentioned getting more Blood from the Mother — Akasha. Though he didn’t use her name, he didn’t need to — too.
On immortality…
Getting into the guilt and struggle that Reid mentioned when discussing powers fits perfectly with the concept of how much of a true struggle immortality can be. And, for those of us who’ve read The Vampire Chronicles, Anne Rice’s vampires definitely struggle. Yes, even Lestat.
So, what are the actors‘ thoughts on immortality?
For Anderson, it’s “a process of endurance and acceptance” that’s “different for the individual.” Later, he’d add that it gives you “all the time” to “find any kind of acceptance of self.” But to have that time, “you have to keep going. You have to wake up — every night — and decide to…to be there. Which I guess…is a decision that we make every day as humans. But it has different implications, of course, with immortality.”
Reid said this is “one of the main, dynamic questions of the show and of Anne Rice’s work.” In the universe of Interview with the Vampire, “you either embrace that — you take it on, head on, and you just…dive down the hall of being this creature. Or you fight it…And they all, every vampire in Anne Rice’s world, at some point, struggles with it.” Therefore, to him, “immortality would be amazing. But, you also lose all the people you love. But then, also, you might turn all the people you love into a vampire. And then, you realize they didn’t like you in the first place anyway.”
And what about Bailey Bass? In her own words, “I would walk into the sun.” For her, “life is precious because we don’t get to live forever, you know? There’s such a limited amount of time, and that’s why it’s so wonderful.” She’s also worried she’d “want to turn someone to have a spouse,” only to wind up stuck with someone who actually doesn’t like her. “That’s just miserable.”
…and extremes.
One place where immortality plays a large role is in how Anne Rice’s vampires are, as Anderson put it, “everything at the same time.” And one of the things about Louis and Lestat “that’s so special is that they do live in this incredibly complex, like…It’s like a cosmic scale.” And, sure, some of their extreme behavior “happens in the horror genre quite a lot” with “certain archetypes that you have to kind of — that you have to…check off. (Not Chekhov, check off! [Insert laughter with Reid and a comment on Chekhov plays here.]). However, it’s all “rooted in humanity, and it’s rooted in things, sometimes, that we don’t want to reveal about ourselves.”
Ever the scholar on all things Vampire Chronicles, Reid really tied this all back to living forever. For him, we all know vampires live forever. And Rice “really hammers that home, and Rolin’s really beautifully picked up on it.” Because of this, “endurance is a huge part of being a vampire. It’s not only just endurance to survive, to not walk into the sun because you’ve had enough and you can’t go on; it’s endurance to make life interesting. It’s endurance to make every day that you wake up — or every night that you wake up — not the same, monotonous merry-go-round of existence. And so, they do make things extreme. They are dramatic; they are Extra; they are a a lot, you know?”
Part of this extreme and Extra behavior goes back to the fundamental struggle of being a Rice vampire. “Theyre aware that they are bad; they’re aware that they kill to survive. And there’s that constant push and pull between, you know, ‘do I embrace it, do I enjoy it? Or do I fight it, and do I hate myself?’ And then, that really just comes in, over and over again, throughout the books, you know? Particularly when you start looking at the Catholicism and the older…kind of Children of Satan…and all these kind of elements…there’s that push and pull between what they should be doing as demons and then, what they could be doing as conscious, emotional beings.”
Yes, he mentioned the Children of Satan. And yes, we were like “omg.”
Anyway. Continuing with what Reid had to say…
“So, yeah. It’s very extreme stuff. But it’s super fun — all you, sort of, dream of doing as an actor. So, to be given the license to do it is…very fun.”
Bass agreed, saying that dynamic was “freeing” for her as an actor. And, “like Sam was saying, every day has to — every night — has to be exciting and wanting to create something new.” For Claudia, specifically, she feels like ” because all her feelings are even more intense, being trapped in a 14-year-old body and her brain never fully developing, she’s always going off her first instinct. That’s really exciting as an actor because I felt like I could never do anything wrong on set. Which is always fun.”
A walk through history
But, one thing that immortality allows for — that vampire stories, and especially Rice’s vast world, promise — is getting to see a lot of history. So, we asked the cast of Interview with the Vampire what about the series’ chosen time period worked for them.
For Anderson, “there’s something really fitting about the period that Rolin chose to set this interpretation in. I think 1910, the 1910s, in New Orleans is like this sort of secret period in New Orleans’ history. And, Storyville was kind of — it was — like a Red Light district, ultimately, where taboos were made legal for this period of time.”
Eventually, though, “Storyville became like this gentrified thing. And it became like a pariah in, in sort of decent ‘Caucasian society.’ In quotations. That’s [important] — I’m putting some big quotations there,” he said while doing actual air quotes.
So, to tie this back into the supernatural element of Interview with the Vampire, Anderson noted, “I think that really speaks to something about how vampires are seen. This is a period of time where it kind of — it almost feels like it wouldn’t be that shameful to be a vampire.”
At this point, Reid hummed in agreement. And we’re pretty sure we were nodding along, actually. Anyway.
Anderson continued, telling us, “that’s something that is attractive to Lestat…Like, it makes so much sense. And it also feeds into Louis’ shame.”
He also noted that the time period is “very difficult to research. It was very hard to find archival material, particularly [about] Free People of Color and Creole people.” But that struggle to find good research materials is actually an advantage. “It feels like you can put fantasy in that period, and it feels…It almost grounds it even more.”
Here, Reid noted that “the music, as well, from that period of time is…just amazing.” Which, of course, is…again, fitting for an actor playing the Brat Prince to say. As we all know, Lestat does love his music…
For Bass, the costumes were particularly important. “I think it was perfect that, when Claudia starts to question who she is and why she is, is right in the ‘20s. And that’s when women started wearing less clothing.” So, “because of that, she actually steals someone’s dress. Because she’s, like, ‘that’s great. That’s going to make me feel like I’m older. That’s going to make me step into a woman and not a little girl anymore.'”
This brought up more questions and discussions about the costumes from other journalists on the Zoom call.
How costumes contribute to the feel of Interview with the Vampire
For Anderson, trying on the costumes for the first time, he just “felt like Louis.” What came with that feeling? Well, if you’ve either read or seen Interview with the Vampire, you know that means tons of contradictions.
“He wants to stand out — he doesn’t want to blend into the background. And there’s, like, an irony and like a push and pull about that, that he also doesn’t want to be looked at. And he’s…And he’s carrying a lot of fear about himself and about being found out in lots of different ways.”
But, despite him not wanting to be looked at, “some of the purpose of Louis’ costuming is that he kind of glows. That he stands out. His color is gold.” When Anderson called it “peacocking, a lot of the time,” Reid laughed. (There’s that Louis/Lestat interplay again.)
But it’s really true! And for Anderson, that feeling of the costumes maybe being an extra element “that kind of draws [Lestat] in. Not that that’s Louis’ intention,” that was just one more thing to help the actor figure out how to carry himself.
Reid mentioned how out of place Lestat is when we first meet him in Interview with the Vampire‘s premiere. “He’s kind of still carrying the remnants of the century where he’s come from before because he’s come from a big journey. And then, he has to sort of…get a makeover — an update.”
(Here, Anderson snickers. Sorry. There’s no other word for it.)
Reid called the makeover “a bit clashy” because Lestat “doesn’t fit in these clothes.” But, from there, costume designer Carol Cutshall “found this way of incorporating just very subtle elements of bondage into the costumes. So, the waists would be much smaller. The boots would be made of patent leather…You know, he’d try, like, a silly boater hat on because he knew it was sort of, like, ridiculous and funny.” He also noted they were “always looking for the keys that come back to the character, even if he’s in a time that’s not necessarily ‘his’ time.”
Bass had similar praise for Cutshall. In that vein, she noted that “the costumes were so intentional. And that’s why putting them on made us really feel like our characters. There’s a story through the costumes as our characters evolve.” Additionally, she pointed out that “we pick our clothes in the morning. So, that’s something that we do intentionally. And Carol was aware of that. So, wherever the characters were in the story, she made sure that the clothing aligned.”
Another fun tidbit? Everyone had fangs and lenses. And, while others only had two, Claudia had four. “That’s so Claudia. Of course she has four and not two, you know?”
And just to end on a fun note…

Anderson, Reid, and Bass all have other vampire stories they’ve loved — outside of Interview with the Vampire and the rest of Rice’s Chronicles.
Reid “was obsessed with Bram Stoker’s Dracula as a kid. And Gary Oldman playing Dracula,” while Bass is “absolutely obsessed” with Twilight. As a huge David Bowie fan, Anderson thinks “The Hunger is amazing and kind of…It bears something quite Riceian about it.”
Which, for the record, “Riceian” is our new favorite word.
Continuing with Anderson, he says of The Hunger, “it’s very existential and questions — lots of questions about aging, more specifically, and loneliness. And that kind of…the desperate grab for, ‘I don’t want to be alone, but do I want to be the opposite of alone with this person?’”
Riceian indeed.
So, if you wanted more vampire content, there you go.

Customer Discovery
In quest to address issues, analysis and solutions to problems within the community. Join me as I explored and interviewed 5 people with the question: What is the problem that you often encounter in the community?
Answers, Hypotheses and Results:
Interviewee 1 & 2: No near Printing Stations
Customer’s Answer: Two students at Central Mindanao University expressed their frustration to the fact that there’s almost no near printing stations that are present around the campus.
Hypothesis: The lack of printing stations around the campus decreases the students’ productivity which means that it is really inconvenient for them. There may be a known place that provides printing services, which is the university’s market but pretty far from most of the colleges.
Method(s): Observing, Based on experience as I am also a student at CMU
Results: Upon observation, I realized that the absence of this service indeed gives difficulty for students. Many would travel and pay for a ride just to go to market or any other place, leading to delays in assignments and academic materials. Overall this negatively impacts the academic performance and overall experience of students at the university.
Interviewee 3: Improper Waste Segregation and Management
Customer’s Answer: Also, a student at CMU, highlighted the issue of improper waste segregation and management on the campus.
Hypothesis: The lack of waste segregation and management practices in the campus are causing environmental pollution and health hazards within the community.
Method(s): Audit, Assess the current waste management practices
Results: After assessment I later concluded that the university lacks proper waste segregation bins, systematic and structured waste management procedures. This led to the mixing of recyclable, biodegradable, and hazardous waste, that could lead to potential health risks for students and staff. Therefore, implementing effective waste segregation and management systems is crucial and is in need to address.
Interviewee 4: Expensive Gasoline, Increasing Various Product Costs
Customer’s Answer: A Filipino citizen expressed concerns about the rising costs of gasoline leading to the increased prices of other daily use products.
Hypothesis: The high cost of gasoline effects the prices of goods and services, resulting to community’s low buying power and unstable economy.
Method(s): Analyze historical data on gas prices and inflation rates to assess its correlation
Results: Upon further research the escalating prices of gasoline is indeed influences the adjustments of businesses to increase prices as transportation and operational expenses increases. So basically, this will affect consumer’s purchasing power and overall economic health within the country. Therefore, it is necessary to create strategies to mitigate the impact of rising fuel prices.
Interviewee 5: Weak Internet Connectivity
Customer’s Answer: Another student at CMU, sees weak internet connection as his problem within the community.
Hypothesis: Weak internet connectivity decreases the productivity of the students. Hindering academic research, fast communication, and access online resources.
Methods(s): Evaluate, Based on experience as I am also a student at CMU
Results: After testing, it confirmed that the problem is really an issue and needs urgent action. Most of the activities or assignment are commonly posted online via Google Classroom, which will make it difficult for students if the they need to turn in their responses. Majority of the teachers also post their learning materials for students online along with links like YouTube if a teacher wants his/her students to watch something, which is difficult if you have weak connection as it needs stable and strong internet connectivity.
TEAM’S OPTIONS
These options as solution to a problem are all based on the overall results from each team members.
1. Coin-operated Wi-Fi and Printing Station:
Suggested by a member. This solution could address the lack of printing stations and slow internet connection within the campus of CMU. The same concept applies to the peso Wi-Fi, but here if you connect to its Wi-Fi you’ll have 2 options, a pop-up will appear leading to a link asking if you want to print or just use the internet. Meaning you can use it for printing and internet at same time. If you choose to use only the internet, it will prompt you to insert a coin.
If you choose to print, you will be asked to provide the document or file you want to print (the user must have edited the file beforehand for direct printing), then the computer connected to the printer will automatically calculate the total price for what you want to print. Additionally, if printing is selected, payment can be made through GCASH.
If another user connects while someone else is using it, a pop-up will appear for the other user indicating that there is still someone connected. However, there is a limit of only 3 papers that can be used: A4, Long, Short (though there might be a printer that includes photo paper). This is not a typical printer it provides printing and internet service at the same time.
2. Transport App:
This option addresses the problem with the prohibition of the “habal-habal” drivers at CMU and to the fact that university is far from urban areas. This app is like Uber but more focused on motorcycles. It can deliver items to you, and you can also request them to buy something for you. For example, if you need medicine, you can book drivers through this app to inform them of your purchase, and then you can pay them for their services. The drivers for this app can be anyone as long as they are qualified, including students and teachers. It's not limited to motorcycle taxis. Before they are accepted as a driver, there is a process they have to go through. This idea was suggested by two of team.
3. Smart Waste Separator:
This solution was suggested by one of our members as solution to environmental pollution and health risks within the community. The idea is to create a machine that segregates garbage. It will have a hole where you can dispose of the trash, but inside, there are sensors that detect and segregate the waste. The collected waste will be segregated into decomposable material that can potentially be used as fertilizer or sold by the owner of the machine for their own use. The separated plastics can also be sold for recycling, allowing the owner to earn from it.
TEAM’S DECISION
After carefully considering all options, the preferred choice by all members is Option 1: Coin-operated Wi-Fi and Printing Station. This solution effectively addresses the lack of printing stations around the campus of CMU and provides a convenient way for students and faculty to access both printing and internet services in one place. It offers flexibility with its coin-operated system, allowing users to choose. Option 2 and 3 maybe useful but the team wanted something new and innovative.
LESSONS LEARNED BY THE TEAM
Through our customer discovery process and the exploration of potential solutions, our team gained valuable insights into the needs and challenges faced by our community. We learned that the lack of printing stations and slow internet connectivity within the campus significantly impacts students' productivity and academic performance. Furthermore, our team realized the importance of considering various perspectives and brainstorming creative solutions to effectively tackle complex issues. By actively engaging with members of our community, we were able to identify viable solutions that could make a positive impact.
Overall, this process has taught us the value of collaboration, innovation, and responsiveness to community needs in driving meaningful change and improving the quality of life for everyone involved.

10 QUESTIONS YOU SHOULD ASK DURING YOUR NEXT MARKETING INTERVIEW
Marketing jobs are only getting more competitive and standing out is becoming harder than ever. You’ve got the resume and the interview, but what is one simple way to stand out from your competition: ask the right questions.
While it can be intimidating to flip the script and ask the interviewer questions, it’s important because finding a job is a two-way street. In order to have success, you need to ensure that you’ll gel with the team, be challenged and fit in culturally. Now’s your chance to learn about the people you’d be working with, management style and your role (the job description may not have outlined everything!) Just as you would answer interview questions, stay positive in your questions to the hiring manager. Ask 3-5 questions, depending on time and tailor them based on the research and information on the role available.
What type of person succeeds here?
What are the current goals of the company and how does this position fit in?
If I were offered the position, what could I do to be considered a stellar performer and to exceed your expectations?
How would you measure success for this role?
If I started tomorrow, what would my top two priorities be?
What is the biggest challenge someone will face in this job in the first six months?
What are the top three qualities you are looking for in the person you hire to join this company?
What would a typical day look like for this role?
What sort of management style would you say you have?
What’s your preferred style off communicating with staff?
Notice that this list DOESN’T INCLUDE any questions about pay, benefits, background checks or promotions. Focus on this role and exuding a positive attitude on what you can bring to this role, not what you’d get out of working for the company. It is important to listen when the interviewer is speaking. You want to avoid asking one of these questions if it has already been addressed in the interview! For more information or resources, check out OUR WEBSITE or LINKEDIN PAGE. And as always, use a recruiter when necessary! Good luck!

Responding to the post made about Zayn's interview leaving you with questions. I apologize in advance if my opinions make you more confused.
I have found that many of the questions that arise when trying to figure out 1D's situation can be answered if you understand that it all leads back to their contract. I look at 1D through the prism of my belief that they are all decent human beings but unfortunately, as teenagers they signed a contract without the consultation of a lawyer and this contract is bulls***t. At the core of all of this is the "image clause". This clause allows label/mgmt. to present (in this case the artist) to the public any way they so choose to for the duration of the contract. Namely, presenting them honestly as they are and letting the chips fall where they may or presenting them in a way that is the most marketable thus most profitable for label/mgmt. regardless of what the truth is. In this case label/mgmt. chose the latter. As a result, what ensued was battle between 1D and label/mgmt. Label/mgmt. constructing narratives to present 1D to the public in a manner that was beneficial to them and conversely detrimental to 1D. 1D, as best as they can, utilizing among other things, bears, tattoos, and song lyrics to counter the false narratives presented to the public by label/mgmt. The narratives that label/mgmt. construct are meant to confuse, fracture and sabotage. Confuse the public, facture the fanbase and sabotage any future career plans of 1D. Because of the way this clause is used in this contract, I am very wary of any interviews that they give and take nothing that they say publicly at face value. Are they saying this or that because it is the truth or are they merely saying it to fulfill a contractual obligation, a narrative imposed on them? To decern what is fact and what is fiction in some instances may take some effort.
My thoughts on some of your questions. I don't believe Zayn left 1D. If so, where is the massive lawsuit for breach of contract making Zayn liable for 100's of millions of dollars? Additionally, he was sent to RCA whose parent company is Sony. As a result, Zayn's future earnings stay in house. Why promo adverts 5/6 months before leaving? His "leaving" was a PR stunt that, because of 1D not cooperating, blew up in their faces. He was meant to return to 1D creating an even bigger PR event. Pillowtalk and Simco and 1DHQ at Asian Awards was because Zayn was still under the Sony umbrella and thus still under contract. Among other things, the false narratives on steroids coupled with five albums in five years, caused all the members of 1D to refuse to renew their contract. Does Zayn have anxiety? Perhaps, but not more so than most other people. The anxiety narrative constructed by label/mgmt., I believe was meant to explain away why you seldom see Zayn performing solo live and also away to reduce his marketability to competitors. One of the ways in which you discourage a competitor label from swooping in and signing your band to a lucrative contract after that band has refused to resign with you is to construct a narrative in which it appears publicly that none of the band members get along with one another. I have always been convinced that 1D's public posture towards one another is vastly different from their private interactions.
Zayn is with a new label, Mercury a major step forward for him. Though, as they all do, he still has ties with Sony via the narratives. For me there are far too many things going on all at once for this to be a coincidence. The interview is part of that. I think he gave the answers he gave to start people and the media to start asking questions. Questions leading to more questions and 1D getting on offense where here to fore they have pretty much been on defense. I do believe that all of this activity with all of them means that their contract with Sony will expire soon. I don't think that Zayn, Liam and Niall now being under the same parent company UMG is a coincidence. It also shows that much of their plotting and scheming to diminish the marketability of member of 1D within the industry did not work. Many within the industry know the reality if the 1D's situation.
Hello!! Thank you for your ask, it actually didn't confuse me, it makes perfect sense! I agree with everything you said. And you're right, the contract has to end someday, we've seen with other artists signed with Cowell that it can take up to 15 years. So should be soon for the boys. And we've heard thanks to Rebecca Ferguson and Jedward for example how shitty the contract is. So I can't imagine how much shittier it is for the boys given how successful they became. And we know Cowell is a fucked up dude I mean just the fact that in his contracts, artists aren't allowed to talk shit about him across the universe forever! Like wtf. He's very powerful and takes things personally. We've heard stories of powerful ppl in the entertainment industry blacklisting ppl simply bc they said smth they didn't like or bc they didn't want to have sex with them. So it's not surprising that Cowell would do everything to destroy the boys and their careers given how they tried to fight him (maybe not all 5 of them but at least some of them). And we also know lies are common in this industry for all kinds of things so it's not like it's surprising either. And you're right! Ppl in the industry must know, and I'm so glad their careers haven't been ruined (obviously it's been harder for Liam bc he's never had fandom support unfortunately but I have faith things will get better for him 🙏). I truly hope the best is yet to come for them!!
