Dethvanity is really funny to me conceptually as an episode because you can see how little they had to make the characters insecure about for the bit. They swing for obvious lowblow choices with Pickle' baldness and Nathan's weight and even those require some suspension of disbelief because ok. Sure. Nathan '(said extremely proudly) never skipped a meal in my life!' Explosion is insecure about being a big man now. Nathan *guy who everyone thinks is smoking hot 99% of the time* Explosion is a tiny bit larger than usual and is insecure about it now. Lol. Lmao even.

But anyway then we hit Skwisgaar and Toki and there's like NOTHING to swing for, you can see them going uhhh ok Skwis doesn't sleep he probably drinks a lot of coffee, and Toki? Shit, what does Toki have to be insecure about with his looks. He's perfect, he's adorable, he's ripped. Um. FUCK IT, HE'S DOING NOTHING BUT EATING LEMONS. WE GOT NOTHING, WE GOT NOTHING, JUST GIVE THE BOY CITRUS FRUITS.

Like yeah we saw him out by Saturn at the end of Phantom Planet but I think a lot of us figured he'd probably die out there (including the characters in the story apparently LOL brutal). But here we have confirmation that (half-)ghosts can pretty much keep going indefinitely on stubbornness alone. Like holy shit, dude. I don't know whether that's awesome or super dark.

I'm going on holiday next week and I won't have access to a scanner while I am away, so I am doing a lot of lineart in preparation.

My plan would be to have a bunch of comic pages ready on my laptop, to use like a colouring book.

So far I have 4 new pages prepared in this way!

And an additional activity I can do is to write up the dialogue for future chapters, and maybe draw for them, so I can just scan everything up when I return.

Maybe you have already answered this before but I was confused when it seems to change between the comic and paintings so, does Audric have long or short hair?

By all technicalities, Audric has short hair! But that's only because the length you see in paintings is entirely comprised of long, thin feathers. It isn't technically hair. But if we're being less technical about it, yes, he has long hair. The length is usually bound and tucked under his uniform coat when on active hunt days. Not in the way of the uniform's hood, and can't be latched onto by any unsavory creatures. Lyra similarly tucked her hair into her Adventuring Coat (you know, what everyone calls their outdoor wear of the season) when she left out in chapter 0, but I think that was a moment of quick acting without thinking, more so than a deliberate act. Audun has the shortest hair of the family, not including the kids when they were miniscule.

If we were capable of writing anything NSFW then we would use that ability to write character studies examining a character's relation to their body and how the reproductive strategies and adaptations their species uses may impact it. We're, like, physically incapable of producing A Sex in any form besides doing academic speculation like we're a scholar theorizing about t-rex mating strategies and we don't think that our 3k word essay on potential cultural attitudes and pressures regarding sex & reproduction as they relate to insects in a world where their biology has adapted to a point where they live for far longer than a few days or months at the cost of an excess rate of mutation meaning that the majority of resulting grubs are likely to be both nonsapient and likely to kill or maul their siblings upon emerging from the egg or cocoon is, like... the kind of stuff that our followers or random Ao3 users would want to read.
