En medicina llamamos enfermedades raras o minoritarias a aquellas que tienen muy baja prevalencia en la población, que en Europa se define cuando hay menos de 5 casos por cada 10.000 habitantes.

En su mayoría, estas enfermedades tienen un origen genético y son complejas en cuanto a su diagnóstico (por lo poco frecuente, solo se diagnostica lo que se piensa) y su tratamiento (por la falta de investigación).

El síndrome de Marfan es una enfermedad de este grupo. En este caso, el síndrome está producido por una alteración genética hereditaria responsable del daño en el tejido conjuntivo, que es el tejido que da sostén a los diferentes órganos y aparato de nuestro organismo.

El síndrome le debe su nombre al médico francés Jean-Bernard Antoine Marfan, que fue quien hizo la primera descripción en un niño que presentaba los dedos y las extremidades muy largas, además de otras alteraciones esqueléticas.

La apariencia de las personas con síndrome de Marfan es muy característica por su talla alta, la deformidad del tronco, y por presentar brazos, piernas y dedos desproporcionadamente largos. También es típico el paladar alto y arqueado, el apiñamiento de los dientes y la miopía extrema (mirad las gafas de Joey Ramone).

Las complicaciones más graves del síndrome de Marfan son las cardiovasculares, como el aneurisma de aorta, la disección aórtica o el daño valvular cardiaco.

La enfermedad no tiene tratamiento específico.

1,5 dl külma vett

2 sl maisitärklist

Serveerimiseks:

200 g pruuni täisterariisi

Valmistamine

Pane riis keema.

Küpseta hakklihapallid pannil õlis kuldpruuniks.

Kastme jaoks mõõda potti kõik ained, v.a. vesi ja maisitärklis. Kuumuta 3-4 minutit ja lisa veega segatud tärklis, nirista segades kastmele. Sega hulka lihapallid ja kuumuta veel mõned  minutid ja puista peale hakitud petersell.

Serveeri koos keedetud riisiga.
