Meta: Jemily Queerbaiting
With the huge influx of posts saying 'Jemily is gonna be canon', I really appreciated seeing this post because OP was completely correct. I didn't want to write an entire dissertation as a reply, so I'm making my own post with my personal opinion on this. (All sources are noted in footnotes)
Before I began this rant, for anyone who thinks this is anti-Jemily. It is not. I have shipped Jemily for 18 friggin years and that's never going to change. This post is specifically my thoughts about queer baiting.
First off, I need to note that the showrunners (and the cast members who use social media) KNOW what a huge queer following this show has and that's why we got pansexual Tara Lewis in S16 [1]. Which, in itself, was SOOOOOOO important!!! Our first canonically queer main in SIXTEEN seasons was a middle-aged Black woman!!! That's phenomenal. (The fact it was horrible rep, because they instantly ruined her relationships once her queerness served it's plot point is a whole other post entirely)
In my opinion, the 'big Jemily moment' Paget posted about on Twitter [2] (and AJ hinted at during a recent IG live) is simply queerbaiting to get people to watch S17. I know a lot of you are newer to the fandom and I love your enthusiasm, I really do, ship and let ship, but listen, let's be real, Jemily is not going to be made canon. The showrunners aren't going to suddenly say (after 17 seasons) 'Surprise, Jemily is endgame'. This show has never cared about queer rep and now that CBS/Paramount have already ticked their queer rep box with Tara, they won't be in any rush to add any other characters to it.
Please buckle in, I've got a lot of thoughts on this matter --
What is Queerbaiting?
If you aren't aware of what queerbaiting is, here's a good definition:
Historically, queerbaiting has carried two meanings: the first is an act of aggressive heterosexuality to shut down queer subtext on screen while still teasing and catering to the queer audience in advertising, public relations, and fan engagement strategies; the second is an existing homoerotic tension between two characters played up on screen while met with derision by the professionals behind the scenes. [3]
The Medium article quoted here is from 2017, a time when parasocial relationships were really starting to take over social media. In 2024, actors are now only a mention or tag away online, they have direct conversations with fans, and this process has allowed for an even deeper form of queerbaiting.
Oftentimes online, actors are asked directly about certain ships and while some ignore these questions (usually to avoid breaking their contracts or other repercussions), others (looking at you, Paget) choose to instead tease fans about queer ships. She's done this for years upon years and if I've learned anything in the past twenty-years of existing in fandom spaces it's this -- don't hold your breath. In it's original meaning, for something to be deemed as queerbaiting there had to be malicious, or at least, purposeful intent to string queer fans along by teasing them with suggestive content about the ship in question, while knowing this ship will never come to fruition in canon.
The thing to remember is, Paget and AJ aren't the only ones who know about Jemily shippers -- the network and showrunners are well aware of this ship too. When networks/showrunners figure out they have a strong sapphic fanbase, they love to use that to their advantage to get more viewers and higher ratings. Queerbaiting is a goldmine to keep fans watching long running shows, look at Rizzoli and Isles, Supergirl, and OUAT for examples of this.
Jemily and Queerbaiting:
Ever since Emily joined the BAU in S2 (2006), there have always been fans who ship JJ/Emily (shoutout to the old LJ forums!). Way before celebs were just a tweet away from fans, back when all our fics began with disclaimers so we wouldn't get sued by networks, we went to great lengths to keep our fanworks far removed from actors/showrunners attention.
As far as Jemily goes, this reply from Paget in a 2009 interview with TVGuide.com [4] (which has now been deleted from their site unfortunately, but there are quotes on Tumblr still [4.a]) confirmed some fans' worst fear -- the actors had found our fanworks online.
TVGuide.com: Of course, a band of fans want her to hook up with Hotch.
Brewster: I know! I didn't realize that fans make these videos on YouTube? A.J. Cook sent me a hilarious one that made it look like Prentiss and J.J. were having a secret lesbian affair. You know, when Hotch was blown up in the SUV, we shot this scene where he's in the hospital and I'm standing next to him, looking at his bleeding ear. Our director came in and said, "Paget, you're looking at Hotch like you're in love with him. It looks really weird." So now, every day, Thomas [Gibson] and I flutter our eyelids at each other.
This was the first time I recall anyone acknowledging Jemily shippers publicly and at the time (Jan 2009), the show was still in Season Four (just before CBS fired both AJ and Paget [5]). Paget genuinely said it's 'hilarious' that fans shipped JJ/Emily. Even now, I'll see people say 'We know Paget and AJ have seen Jemily fanvids, so they obviously ship it too' -- but those same people rarely acknowledge the full context of the original answer. Paget not only thought JJ/Emily were 'hilarious', but then she doubled down and turned her reply back to how she and Thomas liked to play up the chemistry between Emily/Hotch.
While no one can say for sure which video it was that AJ sent Paget, just knowing they were watching JJ/Emily fanvids sent a bit of a shockwave through the femslash side of the fandom. To some it felt like an invasion of privacy, fanworks are by fans for fans -- knowing the cast were poking around in fandom spaces added an extra layer of worry around what we fans were posting online. Fifteen years ago, it used to be quite taboo for actors to outwardly discuss shipping or other fanon for whatever show they were in, and we fans were usually comfortably removed from the actors altogether.
Of course, now it's the norm for fans and actors/showrunners to co-exist online and interact with one another. This connection has opened new ways for shows to queerbait their fans. Pretty much every show has some form of social media account now and there is no doubt that the people running those accounts keep up with the most popular ships and hashtags. Not to mention that actors are constantly barraged with questions about whether they ship their character with x,y,z, or whether they think a ship should be made canon, etc. These interactions only serve to benefit the shows themselves, because whether the conversation is for or against a certain ship, it's all just free publicity (Why do you think CM now has a TikTok account?)
Every time AJ or Paget say anything about Jemily, the queer side of the fandom loses their minds. But this has been going on for YEARS now and every single time, it turns out to be nothing but social media hype and queerbaiting. Remember this AJ post? [6] Or what about the notorious reply by Paget to a fan, where she talks about how she and AJ held hands under the table 'for the shippers' [7] I've seen this cycle over and over again, so perhaps I am cynical, but I'm not getting my hopes up that Jemily will ever seriously be canon.
It's widely known now, after both Kirsten [8] and Paget [9] have talked about it, that there was an early idea where Prentiss was supposed to be queer, but that was ultimately scraped before it ever made it on screen. For context, please remember, this show has been airing for nearly twenty years. It began in 2005, during the highly conservative Bush administration. Queer people didn't have rights in the US, we couldn't get married, we were rarely protected under discrimination laws, and we could even be fired for simply being queer (in some states). Diverse queer representation on screen was extremely limited to things like 'The L Word' and 'Queer as Folk' (both aired on Showtime, so they were behind a paywall. And as far as tLw goes, that show was extremely male-gaze focused and is horrible in nearly all regards if you try to rewatch it now). As far as prime time shows went, queer rep was even more rare. Which is why Emily wasn't queer from the get-go.
Yes, things have changed since 2006 in terms of queer rep on TV. We have a myriad of queer identities represented in TV and film nowadays, which is why I think it's so easy for newer fans to say 'lf she was supposed to be gay anyway, they should just make Emily queer in canon!' I know this is what fuels most fans' demands for Emily being confirmed queer, and I get it, I DO. I would be all for it! However, I do not, in one hundred years, actually believe that is going to happen after they already canonically queer confirmed Tara in S16. The fact we even got ONE queer character is ground-breaking for this show.
It's also worth noting, that in the time between Paget's departure in 2012 and her return in 2016, she became very active on Twitter. This was when more and more fans began asking her about Jemily and after Kirsten's AfterEllen interview, fans also pushed for Paget to address the possibility of Emily being gay. 'Pushed' is actually an understatement for some of the outright harassment she would receive. (AJ received some of this harassment too, but less so because she doesn't use social media ass often) Back then, neither of them replied to these things directly. Yet, no matter what either woman posted, the replies were full of Jemily stans begging for her acknowledgement. (Did you know 'stan' is literally a term coined for stalker fans?) I remember one time AJ's friend was missing and she posted info on her IG about it, you know what the replies were? People asking her about Jemily. It was genuinely sickening.
Within this context, it was no surprise to fans when Emily came back in S12 , she and JJ's friendship was seemingly erased. The two women were rarely on screen together in the late seasons, plus the writers saw fit to even give Emily not only one (Mark in London, but two, on-screen boyfriends for the first time in the entire series. I personally do not think these changes to Emily's character were coincidence, I saw the hellscape of what people would say to AJ and Paget online and I fully believe that upon Paget's return to the show, the showrunners purposely tried to distance JJ and Emily to dissuade the more abusive side of the fanbase.
Can I prove that, no. But it is the only reason I can think of as to why Emily S12+ seemingly didn't care about JJ anymore, despite their deep and meaningful friendship. I mean, they both CROSSED THE WORLD to go rescue each other in prior canon -- but when Emily comes back, they acted like they barely knew each other. This was even more prevalent in S16, when JJ's main storylines all revolved around Will, and Emily barely looked at JJ in the entirety of ten episodes. (Remember how Prentiss didn't even hug JJ after bomb, but she did go hug Luke?)
So, do Paget and AJ earnestly ship Jemily, or are they continuing the long tradition of queerbaiting us? Who fucking knows, not me. But based on the history of this fandom, I think I can make a safe bet. (Interestingly, if you search all of Paget's twitter for the word 'Jemily' [10] she only has 3 direct tweets mentioning the ship. I don't think it's a coincidence that two are within the past few months since they started filming S17 (the other one was a RT of Kirsten (who tagged something Jemily)
This is all to say --
Just because Paget and AJ have publicly talked about Jemily,, this doesn't mean it's ever going to happen on screen. And you know what, THAT'S OKAY!! There has been this constant outcry (after Tara became queer confirmed) of 'Do Emily next' or 'Why wasn't it Emily with a girlfriend!?' and 'Jemily needs to be canon in S17!' -- as if people believe their ships aren't worth anything unless they are canon.
That couldn't be further from the truth! Fandom is built on headcanons and fan interpretations and rare pairs and all types of shippers. Your ship does NOT need to be canon for you to enjoy it. I will ship Jemily forever, no matter what. I don't think there will be some magical queer plot in S17, at best, we might actually get to see Emily/JJ on screen together again and after the train wreck that was S16 -- I'll take whatever I can get.
And hey -- if I am completely wrong, if Erica Messer pulls a Korrasami out of her hat, I will be ecstatic. I will be happy to be proved wrong, but at the same time, I'm not going to lose sleep over it and I'm DEFINITELY not going to go hound the actors about it on social media.

Does Gon have green hair or black hair? What colour are Killua's eyes? Which version of the anime do you like better?
Hi, thanks for the fun questions!
I like to go off the manga as the actual canon because that's the most direct way of seeing Togashi's intentions, rather than decisions made by an anime production crew. Togashi tends to color Gon's hair as either black or green or both. (Just some examples, there are many, many more out there of course!)
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Because of the frequency with which he uses green, I think it's fair to see Gon's hair as either a very dark green verging on black, or black at the roots and then green towards the tips. Of course not a "natural" hair color in our world, but neither is Killua's or that of multiple other characters, so I'm sure there's a wider variation of natural hair colors in the HxH world. (Obviously, this is a very common thing in anime and manga, haha.)
Togashi occasionally colors Killua's eyes brown for whatever reason, but he uses blue considerably more (and so does the colored version of the manga/both anime adaptations) so I definitely think blue is his intended choice for Killua's eyes.
As for which anime version I prefer--ultimately I prefer 2011 because it follows the manga much more closely and I absolutely love how it adapted Greed Island through Election Arc especially. It really hit its stride through those arcs. I've also written about issues I have with the characterization of Gon and Killua in the 1999 anime. That said, I think both series have pros and cons, and I do enjoy both and also have issues with both to some degree as well.
Some of 2011's pros and cons in my view:
Pros:
Follows more of the manga
Follows the manga much more closely than 1999
Amazing voice acting--particularly from Megumi Han and Mariya Ise (Gon and Killua), but there are tons of other phenomenal performances as well!
Really impressive animation in many scenes
Amazing production consistency for a series with as long of a run as it had, gets even better as it goes!
A nice soundtrack and OP/EDs
Overall polished and satisfying series and overall well-adapted from the source material
Even increases the emotional impact of some of the scenes
Added cute Gon and Killua content that I personally enjoy (Huncyclopedia, trailers, some added scenes, etc.)
Cons:
Doesn't leave out a lot, but what it does leave out is strange and frustrating (Kite stuff, Kon, Leorio scenes, etc.)
The aesthetic could be better IMHO. The character designs are fine, but I would have preferred them be just a bit more grounded in some cases (think like 1999). The color palette is very bright and cheery and looks somewhat fake or artificial in a way.
Feels overly light at the beginning when compared to the manga, oddly tonally dissonant with the later parts of the series and makes the series hard to recommend to some people IMHO
Some strange uses of the soundtrack, early in the series in particular
1999's pros and cons:
Pros:
Really gorgeous aesthetic and use of cel animation
Often amazing visual direction
I love the character designs overall, particularly as drawn by some of the specific animation directors who worked on it
Darker, immersive atmosphere
Some of the soundtrack is beautiful!
Some of the added content is neat and/or funny
LeoPika city
Nice OPs/EDs
Fun and sometimes goofy additional content like the musical, radio shows, etc.
Cons:
Adds a LOT of original content and changes things from the manga, definitely not all of which I like or agree with. Some of the additions/changes are frustrating to me.
Gon and Killua's characters and dynamic in particular are changed a fair bit in ways I don't always enjoy
Slooooowwww pacing
Too visually dark at times and can be hard to discern what's happening
Weird fight choreography at times
Even with how much I love that era of anime, it sometimes feels really dated--even older than it actually is, IMHO
These are overly simplified and I'm certain I'm leaving out a lot, but hopefully that gives you an idea of how I feel about each!
I sometimes wish we could have an anime that mixes together the pros from both and erases some of the cons. I feel like a theoretical blend of both versions would potentially be amazing, but at the same time I know we're very lucky as a fandom to have two anime adaptations with their own unique strengths and weaknesses, and I'm grateful for that!

Recently got into one piece thanks to my brother, so its a genuine joy to have found your account and to recognize all these characters and see you implement a style, your work is phenomenal!!! What's the hardest part when making these shots? 👀
Omg thank you thank youuuu
I'm always so happy when someone new gets into One Piece!! Hope you enjoy your journey with these silly squishy pirates hehe
By the way your simstyle and your cc...WOW!!! I'm really eager to dig into it, seems like there's truly a lot to catch up on 🔮
About the hardest part making my shots, it's an interesting yet very difficult question to answer to. I've been thinking a lot about it the last 24 hours LOL and here's my conclusion :
➥ patience & perseverance🪻
My simmies may look fine and somewhat accurate on screenshots now but the entire process for each one can take soooo long sometimes it's outrageous tbh. I am perfectionism personified hum, some sims took me months of tweakings, learnings and cc adjustments for me to be satisfied. I'm a big control freak I just annoy myself
Anyway on a more concrete level, the hardest part for me is to finish what I began. I am good at creating sims and starting projects for each of them but...the amount of uncomplete/unfonctional op custom content I've made is just too big. Whenever an item keeps going wrong I just end up tired and move to the next. And I hate going back on it afterwards. But I have to if I want them to look perfect, you know?
What a long answer omg hope you made it so far ! All that said, even if I cried the tears of hell on them many times, I wouldn't stop creating op sims for the world! 🪁👒

Geminism Trial, thoughts and observations
I just noticed Geminism's trial is out, so this will be a short post on my thoughts regarding it. I've been eagerly waiting for this game for a few years now, especially since I'm a massive fan of Sayonara wo Oshiete, and this brings back a ton of the staff from that era.
I've tagged some other games that are related / probably inspirations, so take that as you will if you're seeing this post randomly lol
Tumblr media
Overall Thoughts: An amazing introduction to a game that I've been excited for, for a while now. The writing style in Japanese is absolutely amazing, unique and got me absolutely hooked, and the visual and sound direction are just phenomenal. I want to also note it has the best direction of presentation I've ever seen from a visual novel to date, with tons of cool cut-ins and effects. I cannot wait to experience the full version of this game.
There will be at least some minor spoilers with OOC screenshots and whatnot in the rest of this post, so keep that in mind if you read!
Tumblr media
First thing I noticed was that the game is in Unity, so I wonder if it'll take advantage of effects and stuff at all? It makes sense for the CRAFTWORK staff that I know of to work in an engine like this though, since they have some wizards there.
Tumblr media
I like that they open their eyes when you hover over the game button, this sort of presentation in VNs adds a lot since it's like the cover to a book or album, it gives something to the rest of the atmosphere that's hard to describe.
Tumblr media
The settings screen is super neat, but also the "戦局" screen being there is super interesting. I think it's something like a TIPS page that some older ADVs have, so it serves as a reference as you read. I'm guessing who has what body part is going to be important throughout the work.
I also find it funny that Awasumi's voice is at 100% by default while the rest are like 60%, and I really wonder if that's because a certain famous someone voices him, who's using the pen name 杯瑠万花 (literally read as: Pile Bunker, I'm not joking)
Tumblr media
The visual style reminds me a LOT of Ciconia, I wouldn't be surprised if it's a direct inspiration. The widescreen NVL format with the film grain + blurred backgrounds just screams that was an influence on this game.
youtube
The OP being called "twyndyllyngs ~Fuguai no Alice~" is kinda funny in mind with the last point too, since Ciconia draws a lot from TRianThology in turn as well.
Tumblr media
The visual direction is indeed amazing, I haven't seen anything like this since going through some of Shumon Yuu's stuff ages ago. Should also be noted this game has proper scene jump as well, which is damn impressive to implement into Unity of all engines.
Tumblr media
The writing style is actually really excellent overall, I love lines line this in particular. It's harder to read than say, SayoOshi though. It should be noted that it's getting an English release on the same day as the Japanese one too, so it's cool that it's going to be so accessible and something actually done by a first-party and not some underpaid localizer.
Tumblr media
I just realized it's somewhat like Muramasa with the sprites, which is pretty funny when her main one looks so relaxed here.
Tumblr media
And yeah, the writing is really damn good and funny so far. I've also realized the game is just mixed weirdly, which is why Sugita's character is 100% volume lol. He's doing a damn amazing job too, I wouldn't have been able to tell it was him if not for his voice PV which pointed out how obvious it was him with the lines they used.
The other 3 voice actors as well, Nakaya Shiho, Nakaya Naho and Sumeragi Mikado all do amazing jobs as well. I really like that the Nakayas chose their pen names to seem like siblings. Also it should be brought up that they do vocals for the OP, which I think is amazing.
Tumblr media
It should probably also be stated that it's still 100% a CRAFTWORK game, so expect some extremely graphic and definitely triggering psychosexual content if you read this.
I can't get a pic that's as out of context as these, but the visual effects are pretty crazy. They definitely take advantage of having a more traditional game engine, which is pretty amazing since Unity is somewhat infamous in terms of VNs.
Another no pic thing but the choices are like Fallout 4, where it's just a truncated form of what you actually say, and I think that's kinda funny.
Tumblr media
Excellent! I don't have much more to add at the end here, but if you got this far thanks for reading! I'm always looking for new JVN mutuals, especially anyone who reads stuff in Japanese, so please hit me up!

This came up today and I realized I tend to operate on some unstated filtering rules for site etiquette purposes, so I figured I would actually specify!
I tend to tag original posts with pertinent media, character, and ship names, so that they can be filtered at will. I am not as diligent about tagging reblogs, which is because tag filtering, last I knew, caught the op tags, and generally I find content creators in this circle of fandom pretty good about tagging their original stuff as well.
The exception to this is discourse posts, which I always tag as "cr discourse", but I don't put any other content tags on them, because generally it tends to be rude to put discourse into those tags. I also don't use a personalized discourse tag, since it's been mentioned in the past that that makes it harder to filter for instead of having a catch-all.
That being said, I do make a point of including the most common or most basic terminology for content topics in discourse posts—so I will put the ship name or character name in the text of the post, so that it can be caught by anyone using the Post Content Filtering option. It does mean it still can end up in the general search, but it does let people filter in some way if they want, and I find that a higher priority than making my snide commentary unfindable, especially since the tag etiquette is more ingrained into this site.
On that note, I highly recommend Post Content Filtering! I find it works phenomenally, and catches a lot more than just using tag filtering would. I use it in combination with the xkit extension that eliminates filtered posts from your dash to great effect, to the point that I forget the content I don't want to see is there. It's delightful. 😌

hi!! what are some of your favorite readings, books, essays, articles, etc on sociology? i’d love to maybe see what class readings you’re doing
Hi anon!
I have a whole bunch of recommendations, no books, unfortunately. Actually, scratch that, I have one but it's actually a history book! I found it to be sociologically fascinating, though. It's The Origins of the Modern World by Robert B. Marks. It's a really interesting take on decolonizing the study of history and our understanding of how the west became the global superpower
To be honest, I don't know what book chapters I was reading for my theory class, our professor only sent us pdf scans. If you're interested in the philosophic origins of sociology, I am happy to try to hunt down the reference for you. Personally, I'm not a big philosophy fan so I can't speak to how good it was lol

tell me about ur comfort shows, movies and video games plsss 🥺🩷🩷🩷
ooooohhh okay i will try to be concise but i can have lots of things to say lol
shows:
the good place - i just love this show. it's about ethics and morality and also choosing to be good to others. and it's funny. what's not to love??
elementary - elementary is like a warm blanket i wear. it was the first show i ever started watching when it premiered and stayed on top of for the entire time it was airing. sherlock & joan are literally everything to me and i fell off my rewatch at the last season bc i didn't want it to end (again)
ted lasso - this one is pretty self-explanatory but much like the good place, it's about kindness and being good to others and it's hilarious. whenever i feel like shit i rewatch the christmas episode from s2 lol
movies:
the princess diaries 1 & 2 - i just love these movies so much. the humor in them is so good!!! i missed so much when i was younger. they're just as funny, if not funnier, as an adult now. maybe they're comforting bc of the nostalgia but i just love how familiar they feel
into the spider-verse - if i want to be entertained by a Quality Film, this is what i'll watch. when i saw it in theaters i wanted to see it again and when i bought it i watched it and then literally started it over to immediately watch it again. it's just phenomenal and i love every second, every frame. this movie has a special pedestal in my heart next to peeta mellark
captain america: the winter soldier - aside from movies i watched as a kid, this may be the film i've seen the most. i just think it's great. the music is so special, the pacing is perfect, and the dynamics between everyone.... this was top-tier moviemaking, particularly for marvel, bc it was before every mcu movie felt quite so formulaic.
video games:
animal crossing - i kind of don't want to count new horizons in this bc it doesn't feel the same but i spent soooo much time playing ac games on my nintendo ds lite and my 3ds. i just love going into the games to talk to all my adorable ass villagers.
the last of us part ii - so this kind of comes with a caveat. i only count this if i skip all the cutscenes. i really really like how the gameplay feels so sometimes i'll just hop into chapters or combat encounters to mess around bc i know exactly how they'll go and i challenge myself to harder difficulties (or just go OP with all the cheats on). the content itself throughout the story isn't particularly comforting sldfjksdfl
skyrim - i have a tough time playing it these days (i just got it again and am playing for the first time in like 10 years) because of motion sickness stuff that hurts my eyes but i love skyrim so much. this was the first huge open-world game i ever really loved and i credit this one and portal 2 for kind of opening the door to gaming for me.
portal 2 - i can't go without mentioning this one bc even though i haven't been able to play it in a LONG time bc i have it on xbox 360 and my laptop can't run it, this game is the first game i remember REALLY loving. it's so special to me. i don't remember how many times i played through it but i know it was at least twice if not 3 times, which is a lot for me as a teenager. it's a quality game with really clever levels, fantastic voice acting, hilarious lines, and a really fun style of play.
it's sleepover saturday! send me... whatever?

yk what guys time to refute all of the hate all quiet has been getting bc i have nothing better to do
Tumblr media
ok so i am having a very hard time understanding how a film score without lyrics can be offensive. does it make fun of something that requires nuance? no??? this score is not satirical in any way nor does it appropriate cultural music so where the fuck did offensive come from??? also what is so bad about the score being anachronistic? in fact i think this is one of the best aspects of it, if a film score has to be strictly within whatever period the film is set in not only does it lead to one dimensional uninnovative film scores, it just doesnt make sense in some scenarios. does a prehistoric film have to feature sticks as its only instrument?? ok even if we take all of that at their best, i feel like we're being too severe a couch critic, like cmon, they won for a reason, we don't have to be this rude about it, just say it's mid and call it a day...
Tumblr media
yay lets generalize a very diverse fanbase bc it makes it easier to strawman and push my argument!! ok anyways i think a rlly big thing with sucessful adaptations is that ur gonna have to change some stuff. what works on paper might not necessarily work on the big screen. i get that a huge point of contention is the ending change and the cutting out of the returning home section. so about the ending first, i actually liked the changes bc while i get the poetic ending of the book, i think the movie ending does rlly well for character development and rlly goes all in to show the psychological changes paul experiences during the war. if we did keep what they were doing in the book, we might run into a lot of issues bc we're able to know what paul is feeling however that might be difficult to translate on film. also, we get interesting interpolation and final emphasis on the theme of how war is essentially just a puppet game. without the changes of the 11am armistice or the final orders from the evil general dude, we lose the new themes that the film brought in which would feel less complete than status quo. ok so the returning home argument, the novel is obviously more complex than the film but that doesn't make it better or worse. our film at hand already has a huge run time, if we tried to shoehorn in another whole theme, that might be too ambitious and we lose the focus the film has right now. i would definitely choose a world where they focus on one theme and do it really well, which is what's happening rn, over a line by line adaption that could feel messy and end up being too ambitious. again, a line by line adaptation has already been done and i wouldn't fault anyone for thinking the 1930 version is better, it just means it would be even worse and completely redundant to make another line by line adaptation rn. also again, these are completely all my opinions and its def valid to disagree on all of them but the real root of the issue i have with op's comment is how they chalk it all up to ppl not reading the books. it just comes off as rlly elitist and just not representative of what ppls actual opinions rlly are. also it's better to attack the media itself rather than ppl who enjoy the media 💀
Tumblr media
braindead bird app time, here we have the classic case of someone thinking it's cool to shit on the film that all their twt mutuals are shitting on rn without ever having seen it. sorry if this is a bit left field but next time maybe watch the film b4 commenting on it?????????
Tumblr media
this is honestly one of the least problematic opinions out of the all quiet haters so far but i am still responding to this bc the only category all quiet beat banshees in was original score (why is it always this) and the score doesn't have much to do with whether or not this film is a war film or if soldiers appeal to u or how many times this has been remade. and like i agree, banshees score, phenomenal, but if all quiet lost it still would go to babylon so i feel like the anger here is rlly misdirected.
Tumblr media
all quiet haters cannot seem to comprehend that this film is not a remake holy shit. and even if it is inferior, it would only be inferior storywise bc u cannot fucking argue the point that 1930s vfx and cinematography are better than the 2022 version. and the only sweeps all quiet got were technical category sweeps so the inferior remake point is entirely irrelevant. and i am willing to bet 5 bucks this person didnt watch the movie bc then they would understand that technical aspects and story aspects are different bc what it sounds like rn is they're repeating whatever they've heard without properly applying the criticism to its accurate category.
.
.
ok im done now very slay if you've read all of this im sleep deprived bc of babylon dickriders so ignore my gramatical mistakes ty.

Dead by Daylight
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Background
Dead by Daylight is a notorious game known and loved by many around the gaming and horror communities. Many may know it due to the trends with Ghost Face and others may know it primarily from ads or recommendations. This game is overall phenomenal and if you're a fan of horror this might just be the game for you! The game consists of two sides, the killer and the survivors. There's one killer hunting up to four survivors who's jobs are to fix the generators all around the map to escape while also protecting and saving each other from the killers grasp. Currently there are 37 playable survivors including the well known Laurie Strode from the Halloween franchise, Cheryl Mason (Silent Hill), the beloved Leon Scott Kennedy (Resident Evil™) and lastly my personal favorite Dwight Fairfield (he's just there and he's great). As for killers there are 32 to choose from. Some of these killers are The Shape (Michael Myers), The Cannibal (Leatherface), The Nightmare (Freddy Krueger), The Pig (Amanda Young) and again my own favorite The Ghost Face. All characters have dynamic plots and different characteristics.
Throughout the matches players collect blood points that are spent on character upgrade/level ups. The further you get through the bloodweb (where your upgrades are) the stronger your character is capable of being and the more features you unlock. Throughout the bloodweb you also collect items which may help during matches, this includes med kits, offerings and much more. This game is very lore heavy if you're into a story line but you don't really have to follow it, there's information on each character and its all dynamically planned out through seasons of the game. It shows real storylines of the characters from already made movies, games, etc. and storylines of their own characters (Dwight). This game doesn't require you to know the lore but if you're someone into a good storyline definetely read into it!
Rating
Dead by Daylight is a fun game and I've had it for a few years. Unfortunately I can't play it consistently without getting bored of it for a while. It's good but repetitive in some aspects and the wait time for the lobbies is deadly. Literally. It takes really long to load into a game with others if you're in a solo queue so I suggest playing with at least a friend. Other than that if you're into horror and surviving games this will be right up your ally. ★★✰✰✰ Co-op Experience ★★★★✰ Scare (I get jump scared by the killers often) ★★★★✰ Lore/Content ★★★✰✰ Overall Gameplay
Pricing
Base Game: $21.99 CAD Ultimate Edition: $78.27 CAD Resident Evil - Collaboration Bundle: $44.57 Silent Hill Edition: $61.66 All DLC Combined: $240.00 (Including limited DLC)
Final Thoughts
Buy it, don't buy it. This game isn't life changing but its one of the better games out there and overall I'd rate it at least a 7/10. Its not exceptional and as said earlier it gets a tad boring at least for me. If you need something to play it's still definetely a recommendation.

some personal ramblings about FFXIV and GW2
Context: I am a longtime Guild Wars 2 player that tried out FFXIV for about a month before I quit* and went back. I enjoyed FFXIV for the most part, but playing it also helped me realize why I love GW2 so much.
*disclaimer: i didnt even make it to Heavensward cuz the quests between destroying the Ultima and starting HW were so damn boring and tedious, sorry
Though, there are a couple things I really liked about FFXIV and wish GW2 had more of, so I’ll start with those:
Roleplaying. And I mean in terms of gameplay features. E.g., joining a Grand Company in FFXIV really makes you feel like you have a role there compared to GW2's Orders. In GW2, there is no interaction with your chosen Tyrian Order outside the main story quests. Once you join you can buy order-themed gear, that's it. In FFXIV, joining a GC gives access to tasks/jobs/quests and a rank system that makes you feel like you are working for this group.  Rising through the ranks of your FFXIV GC is a process, a grind, and that's a good thing. It's an RPG and you are playing the role of an adventurer rising up the ranks of the GC. In GW2, it's all just the story. You finish a questline, you get "promoted" but there is no system in place to make you feel like you’re really a part of it when you’re out in the world.
Emotes in FFXIV are much better as well. For some, this might be inconsequential or even meaningless but this is a ROLEPLAYING game, and for people who want to roleplay, a good emote system can go a long way. You rarely see RPers in GW2 while in FFXIV they're all over the cities
Party Finders / LFG. I really cannot fathom why GW2 still doesn't have matchmaking/duty finder for Dungeons and Strikes. rn you need to form a party manually and either invite people or hope people join. Sure, I don't think GW2 Raids should have matchmaking bec. they are super difficult and technical, and bec. it's hard to automate balanced parties w/ GW2's super-flexible buildcrafting system. Though strikes share that problem afaik it's not as punishing and I think could benefit from matchmaking. But a duty finder system that rewards players for clearing dungeons, strikes, and less-popular map metas might really help give new life to older content.
Armor / Fashion. Not really better than GW2 imo, but I wanna make a point about armor variety. Making pretty armor/dye combos is one of my favorite things about GW2, and I’ve gotta say FFXIV's expansion armor sets looked really dope compared to some endgame/expansion GW2 armors (most ARR armors were ugly though, GW2 still has way better pieces than those). Like I wish GW2 had more well-designed armor sets for us to mix and match. That armor set they released for GW2′s 10 year anniversary is kinda ugly imo (no offense ANet). sadness. Will say, though, GW2′s dye and armor transmutation system is leagues above FFXIV.
Now, on the flip side, here are some of the things I absolutely love about GW2 and keep me coming back to this game:
Overall, FFXIV was fun but really every "traditional" MMORPG I try just makes me appreciate GW2 more. Really wish more RPGs would copy GW2's questing, exploration, and dynamic event systems.  Like seriously, in terms of open world questing and exploration, no MMO feels as good as GW2. GW2's zones feel so much more open and alive thanks to ANet's unique approach to map design.
Exploration and Dynamic Events. In FFXIV ARR, the maps are lifeless and boring. You unlock the entire map for a zone when you first enter it so there really is no need to explore. They look pretty and big at first glance but the invisible walls and fixed pathways quickly kill the illusion. The maps are very pretty though and there are some really sweet views. But again, there is really nothing to find or "explore" aside from the enemies your quests and hunt board want you to kill. It's a tired traditional MMO trope but I expected more from the most popular MMORPGs.
GW2, meanwhile, has phenomenal zone design especially in its expansions. The wide open spaces actually -feel- open and vast, but they never feel empty or dead, even if you’re in the middle of a desert. Then you have some truly labyrinthine maps with so many paths, nooks, and crannies to explore, and often times you are rewarded with loot, vistas, or other surprises when you explore. Maps often have several layers of verticality as well, and many GW2 maps have underwater environments to explore as well.
As for dynamic events, the “FATE” system in FFXIV is pretty disappointing compared to GW2′s map events. Whether they be small solo events at a certain location or a map-wide meta event requiring hundreds of people, GW2′s dynamic events are probably the best dynamic “questing” I’ve experienced in an MMO. They tell stories, grand and small, that help make the world come alive - whether its defending a village or a caravan, assaulting a fortress, or taking on a dragon and its army of minions, GW2′s events pull you in and make you a part of its world.
Mounts. Some people are complaining that WoW is copying GW2's mounts but what helped make the mounts so good was that they were tied to GW2's approach to exploration and questing too. The mounts in GW2 Path of Fire felt so good because you needed them to traverse environmental challenges in the open world - and it was FUN.  GW2's mount system was built with their open world design philosophy in mind. They didnt just make travel faster; they were made to interact with the open world. New puzzles, minidungeons, and other navigational challenges around the open world were designed with mounts in mind.
okay that’s it. dont mind me, just needed a place to put this wall of text lol. i didnt talk about PvP or WvW (even thought I love GW2 WvW) cuz i’m not a big PvP person and didnt try any of it in FFXIV.

finished bg3. overall, a phenomenal game. perhaps the greatest game i've ever played. but i do feel like the ending was a little weak. the final battle was really easy but that could just be because my character is op as fuck. but still, it was a lot of fun being able to call in all your allies and just slaughter enemies together.
maybe spoilers ahead
i saved the city because i'm a big goddamn hero but i really feel like i should have had more time with my companions. i think there should have been a whole epilogue or something. just you and your companions having a night of celebration or something. having some final conversations, reflecting on your journey together, and saying your goodbyes where appropriate. maybe something about how each of their lives play out after. and maybe some moment of remembrance for the companions that died or went their separate ways.
after the big battle i only had like 30 seconds to share a line or two of dialogue with a few my party members (not even all of them) and that's it. it feels rushed and out of character for a game that was otherwise full of emotional depth. like...i didn't even get to speak with karlach. me and all my companions were talking and then we were about to leave to celebrate and wyll was like "wait!! where's karlach!" or something like that and everyone looked panicked but then it just cut to another scene with me and shadowheart. never found out what happened with karlach. but i'm assuming she dies? lmao i don't know.
but it's also possible that i just missed something because the last part was pretty buggy and it seemed like it skipped over a couple cutscenes. i guess i'll have to go watch a youtube video to see the different endings.
anyway i hope they make a bunch of expansions. there is limitless potential for additional content. and obviously i'm looking forward to whatever sequel they eventually make. this game is really something special. i am definitely going to replay it. sometimes i see clips of other people's playthroughs and i'm realizing there is still so much shit that i missed out on. and i thought i was being thorough!
but yeah between the gale and the crown of karsus and karlach and zariel and the emperor and all of those other cities mentioned in the game and the portals in the house of hope and so on, there are lots of possibilities for expansions that i can imagine. i really would love to see more of avernus. the house of hope was maybe my favorite part of the game. really fascinating place. it reminded me of the haunted mansion ride at disneyland.
anyway, great game. amazing game. highly highly recommend to anyone who is into fantasy rpgs.

Web Facilitating Is Proposed To The Purchaser In Numerous Arrangements
Web facilitating is proposed to the purchaser in numerous configurations in light of the client's prerequisites. Web facilitating is an essential help that customers can use subsequent to getting either dial-up or broadband admittance to the Web. Web facilitating is fundamentally a membership administration. The most savvy method of web facilitating is shared web facilitating. Shared web facilitating is really the most famous kind of web facilitating administration. Modest web facilitating is absolutely not made similarly. One more benefit to shared web facilitating is that the client is answerable for little, if any, server support or the board.
Tumblr media
Facilitating
Facilitating administrations restricted to the Internet: Free web facilitating administration: is free, (some of the time) notice upheld web facilitating, and is in many cases restricted when contrasted with paid facilitating. Facilitating organizations typically expect that you own your own area name to have with them. Facilitating organizations charge a rental expense for the help of putting away your Site and permitting Site guest traffic stream to through their PCs to get to the data on your site. Facilitating has become absurdly modest lately, and there are a lot of obscure tasks contending on cost. Facilitating bundles accompanies sufficient room and highlights to match most clients' necessities. Facilitating organizations offer imparted facilitating to clients to sites that have little or moderate traffic levels. Facilitating organizations screen shared servers for misuse and asset hoarding, in some cases malignant contents or awful code can make it quit working, closing down each site on the server. Facilitating can be for the majority online advertisers a phenomenal method for creating income.
Server
Web hosts can likewise give server farm space and network to the Web for servers they don't possess to be situated in their server farm, called collocation. cPanel, Facilitating Regulator, Plesk or others) for dealing with the Internet server and introducing scripts as well as different administrations like email. Shared web facilitating administration: one's Site is put on similar server as numerous different locales, going from a couple to hundreds or thousands. Regularly, all spaces might share a typical pool of server assets, like Smash and the central processor. Affiliates' records might change immensely in size: they might have their own virtual committed server to a gathered server. Virtual Committed Server: cutting up a server into virtual servers.
Committed facilitating administration: the client gets their own Internet server and oversees it (pull access for Linux/manager access for Windows); nonetheless, the client regularly doesn't possess the server. Overseen facilitating administration: the client gets their own Internet server yet isn't permitted full command over it (pull access for Linux/head access for Windows); notwithstanding, they are permitted to deal with their information through FTP or other far off administration devices. While every client has their own cutoff points on specific things (extra room, permitted email accounts, permitted data transfer capacity each month, permitted FTP accounts), a similar Apache server, MySQLserver, and, surprisingly, actual memory are shared. Since you are sharing assets, it's feasible to utilize the server equipment to its maximum capacity, converting into reasonable estimating for the client.
Administration
Facilitating uptime alludes to the level of time the host is open through the web.
Also Read : Web Facilitating and Arising Web Regulation
Business
The web facilitating client might need to have different administrations, like email for his business space, data sets or multi-media administrations for streaming media. An Internet have, or facilitating specialist co-op (HSP), is a business that gives the innovations and administrations required for Sites to be seen Online. Sadly, claiming and working an Internet server can be exorbitant and requires specialized skill that most organizations don't have. Numerous people and private ventures exploit Web has to liberate themselves from pre-possessing their scant human and monetary assets on Web have issues. Commonly, an individual or little to average sized business can't bear to get an incredibly hearty association with the Web for their Internet presence autonomously.
Servers
Web hosts can likewise give server farm space and network to the Web for servers they don't possess to be situated in their server farm, called collocation. Shared servers furnish individual Sites with excess network and dependable uptime. A laid out web facilitating organization will commonly possess many web servers which thusly have numerous sites. Across the world there are a lot a greater number of sites than there are web servers since facilitating great many little sites on one web server is conceivable. You might have the option to set up your own servers at home, however can you for under $8/month. Regardless of whether my link supplier permitted clients to run servers, the upstream rate is just a negligible portion of a megabit, and there are loads of bounces from my containers to the spine. You are denied to run projects, hardware, or servers from the Premises that give network content or some other administrations to anybody beyond your Premises LAN (Neighborhood), likewise normally alluded to as open administrations or servers.
