Humans are weird: Hubris before the fall
( Please come see me on my new patreon and support me for early access to stories and personal story requests :D https://www.patreon.com/NiqhtLord Every bit helps)
A decade ago there was a powerful world by the name of Oma that was the crown jewel of the Omak Domain. Rich with natural resources and rare metals, it was able to establish a powerful trade network that generated billions of credits monthly leading to the people of Oma to grow fat with decadence. This led to a rapid degradation of their societal values to such an extent that they believed that they and only they were truly worthy of running galactic trade and began pressuring their neighboring governments to relinquish trade control of their domains to them.
When they finally approached the humans they sent forth a trade delegation to their parliament. This delegation did not present a sympathetic view of their stewardship, nor a presentation outlining the benefits of their management skills in intergalactic trade. No; this delegation strode into the terran parliament and denounced human trade standards as inferior and unworthy implementation between galactic powers.
No strangers to prideful boasting, the humans naturally took great offense to the grand standing of the delegation and cast them out without even hearing their full proposal. In response, the Oma began sanctioning the terran domain; isolating its trade routes and starving it off much needed resources.
For months the human diplomats tried to reach out to the Oma to find a political solution, but each attempt was met with the repeated message “Submit”.
As time passed and riots began to break out across human worlds from the lack of materials, the terran government finally had enough and dispatched a war fleet to Oma. The fleet was comprised of nearly three fifths of their entire naval power and was spear headed by the latest Herald class battleship “Saladin” with the equally famous Admiral Timmins in command.
Being comprised of mainly trade ships; the Omak Domain navy was primarily built around fast moving frigates, destroyers, and smaller patrol craft capable of catching pirates that preyed upon their shipping lanes. They were little more than a speed bump to the well-disciplined prowess of terran armada and was swept aside easily as the human ships made for orbit directly above Oma. Yet even with this encroaching ring of steel the Oma public did not panic.
Unlike their navy, the Omak Domain’s ground forces were substantially better in comparison. They had fought many ground wars to secure trade outposts, mining operations, and subjugation camps and were thusly made up of a hardened collective of veteran soldiers and automated war machines that were capable to five terran soldiers. So when the human fleet finally did position itself in orbit above Oma, the Omak military was confident they would repel any invasion attempts made by the humans; even going so far as to openly mock Admiral Timmins in a direct communique that not one human soldier would live to set foot on their world.
To their surprise Admiral Timmins agreed to those terms and began the battle.
From the launch bays of every terran ship came hundreds of heavily armed fighters, bombers, drones, and reconnaissance craft that swarmed through Oma’s atmosphere. Not a single lander or ground soldier was deployed as the Admiral coordinated a planet wide devastating air campaign of destruction.
The Omak air force was overwhelmed in a matter of hours by the constant waves of enemy aircraft and found itself further crippled as their launch sites were surgically struck from orbit by human warships. When the last of the Omak air power was expended the human air power had complete control over the skies of the planet.
Civilian targets such as cities and towns were ignored; but the precious foundries, factories, and mining complexes that had given the Omak people such wealth were reduced to little more than burnt pieces of metal and ash. The Omak rulers watched as their life blood of commerce was taken from them one continent at a time and sent countless messages to the human fleet for peace. Their reply was always a single word that none of the Omak would agree to.
“Submit.”
By a month’s end the world of Oma was little more than a smoldering crater. Gleaming cities now stood as silent watchers over miles of burnt landscapes and wasted industrial complexes. The people who had only known wealth and power were now left to wander the ruins of their former trade empire as the human fleet still held orbit over the world. Fragments of the Omak Domain attempted to bypass the human fleet to deliver supplies but each attempt was met with the humans either seizing the ship and the valuable cargo or destroying it just as it was about to land.
It didn’t take long for the previously subjugated peoples that had relinquished control to the Omak to begin rising up once more and regaining their sovereignty. Some the newly freed powers sent their own delegations to the human fleet and kneeled before Admiral Timmins; thanking the humans for bringing their oppressors low. Each time the Admiral would thank the aliens and invite them to the viewing decks so they could look down at the burnt world that had once held them so firmly under its thumb.
In a way it was both a gesture of friendship and a warning to all those that would come after; that the realms of man would never take kindly to the hubris of fools.

Frankly, I start to wonder, why the streaming providers bother with the entire "home network IP" thing, given that everyone who knows just a little bit about computers can easily circumvent it.
When HBO Max started in the US, it was not available outside of the US. (It is still not available in Germany.) Still, for the first year I was using it. How? If you guess VPN you are not fully wrong. But not quite. A friend of mine set up one of his old laptops in his home, set up a VPN, and I used it as a Remote Computer to access HBO Max from Germany.
Now Disney did the entire "home network only" for streaming, and I... Well, you guessed it. I set up a computer in my home network for remote access and tada.
Sure, you need somewhat good internet (so if you are in rural America it might not work out) for this to work, but if you have good internet... Eh. It is easy.
Also, if you do not have a collection of backup laptops like you average IT worker (honestly, I need a way to sell my 6 old laptops that are littering my apartment), you might need to get a Raspberri Pi to pull this off. But frankly...
Really, fuck the streamers. Because to me the question is never "Do I share this with friends or do I force everyone to get their own ones?" but "Do I share this with friends, or should I just move to pirating?" Frankly, the only reason that I am not pirating right now is mainly that I respect my palls working in the industry too much. But frankly, with how shitty the streamers are treating them, my patience with the streamers is very, very low. Just saying.

Minecraft (2009)
Date: May 17, 2009 Platform: Mac / Xbox 360 / PlayStation 3 / Xbox 360 Games Store / PlayStation Network (PS3) / PC / iPhone / iPad / Android / Windows Phone / PlayStation Vita / Wii U / Browser / PlayStation Network (Vita) / Xbox One / PlayStation 4 / Linux / Amazon Fire TV / New Nintendo 3DS / Nintendo Switch / Xbox Series X|S Developer: Mojang AB / 4J Studios / Other Ocean Interactive / Digital Eclipse Software, Inc. Publisher: Mojang AB / Xbox Game Studios / Sony Interactive Entertainment America / Sony Interactive Entertainment Europe Genre: Action-Adventure Theme: Fantasy Franchises: Minecraft Also known as: Minecraft Xbox One Edition / Minecraft Xbox 360 Edition / Minecraft: PlayStation 4 Edition Type: Crossover
Summary:
Minecraft is an open world, first-person, survival sandbox game, developed and published by Mojang. It was originally released in a pre-alpha state via the TIGSource forums on May 17, 2009, and was later hosted online for supported browsers before receiving a standalone release for PC, Mac, and Linux on June 30, 2010. The game would officially exit its Beta version on November 18, 2011, although major updates continue to be released. Since August 2011, a number of ports of the game have released for consoles and mobile devices.
Presented with a unique low-resolution "voxel" aesthetic (where everything is shaped using cubes), the game allows players to interact with a variety of different "blocks" in a procedurally-generated world. Along with both resource mining/gathering and item crafting (hence the game name), the game features exploration (with multiple biomes and locations), combat, and construction. In addition to the standard "Survival" mode, the game features a "Creative" mode that allows players to design environments with an unlimited amount of blocks at their disposal and no survival elements. The game supports online multiplayer and later supported numerous content packs (including new world/block textures and player skins, many of which are cross-promotions with other games and franchises).
Originally created by indie developer Markus "Notch" Persson (whose roles were later taken over by fellow indie developer Jens "Jeb" Bergensten), Minecraft was ported to numerous smartphones (originally known as Minecraft: Pocket Edition) and consoles (originally known as Minecraft: Console Edition, with the "Console" in the name being replaced by the console's name). On September 20, 2017, the game received a major "Better Together" update that merges the smartphone version with some console versions (including Windows 10, Xbox One, and later Nintendo Switch) together for a single multi-platform version (known as Minecraft: Bedrock Edition, with the original computer versions renamed to Minecraft: Java Edition) with all features accessible (including cross-platform multiplayer). Alternate editions include a multi-platform version for use in classroom settings (Minecraft: Education Edition), a cut-down version for small RaspberryPi microcomputers (Minecraft: Pi Edition), and a multi-platform version for use in China (Minecraft China).
The game has received a number of spin-offs, including the 2015 adventure game Minecraft: Story Mode (and its 2017 sequel), the 2020 dungeon crawler Minecraft: Dungeons, and the augmented-reality mobile game Minecraft Earth. As well, Minecraft's procedurally-generated sandbox elements would inspire many other games, in both 2D (such as Terraria and Starbound) and 3D (such as Dragon Quest Builders and LEGO Worlds).

INTERVIEW THE WRITER* [NOT ACCEPTING] 1. what color do you associate with your muse?
To the surprise of NO-ONE, Crimson!
4. Do you have any advice for other writers?
I'd say if you have a strong idea or feeling, get it out as soon as possible in draft form, then re-visit it later! Waiting until you 'have the time to explore it/motivation to write' is a pitfall that is very tempting to get stuck in, so sometimes it matters more that you just DO THE THING anyway.
5. Would you hug your muse?
If he LET ME, I would...
7. How are you and your muse different?
Jae-hyo has had to internalize toxic masculinity to survive in the criminal underworld and has to posture and constantly prove himself to maintain his steadfast grip on his territories. He's a lot less... healthy than I currently am, because he never had the luxury of therapy, psychiatric sessions, basic comfort and safety, or a reliable support network.
I tend to downplay my own merits and skills a lot, I struggle with being very passive and second-guessing myself and my choices. Normally, people who know me on a personal level are incredibly shocked that I can be this way, since I tend to be very relaxed, open, and honest- It gives them a sense of... stability or reliability? So I feel that they expect me to not be deeply affected by most things, and I tend to get deeply affected by like, EVERYTHING internally.
I'm also VERY habitual, a Taurus stereotype in spades- I loathe change, I like routine, I like COMFORT. Jae is much more thrill-seeking, spontaneous, and excellent at improvisation and adapting to any situation seamlessly.
16. ice cream, candy, pie or cookies?
All? ALL.
Ice Cream is amazing, especially if made from scratch! The Ninja CREAMi soft serve/frozen dessert machine is amazing if you don't have the bucks to shell out on a ice cream spinner or god forbid the old fashioned industrial set ups we had at Culinary School... My first job had a Breville Smart Scoop Ice Cream Maker, but it's stupidly expensive. The Cuisinart Cool Creations 2-Quart Ice Cream Maker is vastly superior, but it is LOUD AF.
I tend to like unique flavors, like yuzu or daquiri (Baskin Robbins has a GREAT non-alcoholic Daquiri flavored ice cream).
Pie is a all-time favorite of mine, but it HAS to come with aforementioned ice cream! I love berry pies especially- Hof's Hut has a seasonal pie made with olallieberries (very BRIEF window of availability btw), which is my ultimate FAVORITE. Oh my God, every time they have the pies or cheesecakes available, I HAVE to buy at least two pies or cheesecakes, one for the family and one for... me.
Cookies are wonderful, but I have to really be in the MOOD for them? I tend to go for knock-off recipes like the fake Levain Bakery chocolate chip chunk cookies (I tend to frankenstein recipes after testing which online ones are best, to make brown butter chocolate chip chunk + walnut cookies). Or the classique French macaron! I can't help it, that crisp shell, the ganache, it's sooo good...
I also love a good biscotti, but hands down I will ALWAYS eat Scottish shortbread even if I don't feel like it. That shit is crack, crack and like 5 sticks of butter.
28. Metal, folk, pop or ambient?
All of 'em, I tend to have a super diverse selection of genres that inspire me to write and/or draw.
29. List your top two movies
Arrival (2016), it was masterfully adapted.
And in a entirely selfish way, I LOVED Turning Red (2022) and have to mention it because of all the weirdly negative reviews it got from weird white parents?
Like, teenage girls' interests and media need to STOP being hated on for fuck's sakes, let them live. I hate that white parents suddenly get laser-guided amnesia and don't fucking recall acting the same goddamn way as a child, regardless of gender- I feel the themes are universal enough that ANYONE can empathize and find it touching and funny, but also family of color dynamics and intergenerational trauma need to be depicted in media (especially in ways that show acceptance and POSITIVE resolutions, since God Forbid we have that in real fucking life, so we gotta at least SHOW there can be change).
I hate that even our LIVES have become like... something that companies can fucking monetize and our experiences and stories don't fucking matter because they're "not relatable" or "can't be turned into a franchise" until said company wants to suck up to POC to get our money. Just normalize people being people, even if they don't fucking specifically match up with everything about YOU perfectly, I HATE this 'Main Character Syndrome' bullshit that's taken over newer generations. SOMETIMES SHIT ISN'T MADE FOR YOU, BUT YOU CAN STILL ENJOY IT LIKE A NORMAL PERSON BECAUSE GUESS WHAT- WE'RE ALL HUMAN?

Derad Network: The Crypto Project That's Taking Aviation to New Heights https://www.derad.net/
Hey Tumblr fam, let's talk about something wild: a blockchain project that's not just about making money, but about making the skies safer. Meet Derad Network, a Decentralized Physical Infrastructure Network (DePIN) that's using crypto magic to revolutionize how we track planes. If you're into tech, aviation, or just love seeing Web3 do cool stuff in the real world, this one's for you. Buckle up-here's the scoop.
What's Derad Network?
Picture this: every plane in the sky is constantly beaming out its location, speed, and altitude via something called ADS-B (Automatic Dependent Surveillance-Broadcast). It's like GPS for aircraft, way sharper than old-school radar. But here's the catch-those signals need ground stations to catch them, and there aren't enough out there, especially in remote spots like mountains or over the ocean. That's where Derad Network swoops in.
Instead of waiting for some big corporation or government to build more stations, Derad says,"Why not let anyone do it?" They've built a decentralized network where regular people-you, me, your neighbor with a Raspberry Pi-can host ADS-B stations or process flight data and get paid in DRD tokens. It's a community-powered vibe that fills the gaps in flight tracking, making flying safer and giving us all a piece of the action. Oh, and it's all locked down with blockchain, so the data's legit and tamper-proof. Cool, right?
How It Actually Works
Derad's setup is super approachable, which is why I'm obsessed. There are two ways to jump in:
Ground Stations: Got a corner of your room and a decent Wi-Fi signal? You can set up an ADS-B ground station with some affordable gear-like a software-defined radio (SDR) antenna and a little computer setup. These stations grab signals from planes flying overhead, collecting stuff like "this Boeing 737 is at 30,000 feet going 500 mph." You send that data to the network and boom, DRD tokens hit your wallet. It's like mining crypto, but instead of solving math puzzles, you're helping pilots stay safe.
Data Nodes: Not into hardware? You can still play. Run a data processing node on your laptop or whatever spare device you've got lying around. These nodes take the raw info from ground stations, clean it up, and make it useful for whoever needs it-like airlines or air traffic nerds. You get DRD for that too. It's a chill way to join without needing to turn your place into a tech lab.
All this data flows into a blockchain (Layer 1, for the tech heads), keeping it secure and transparent. Derad's even eyeing permanent storage with Arweave, so nothing gets lost. Then, companies or regulators can buy that data with DRD through a marketplace. It's a whole ecosystem where we're the backbone, and I'm here for it.
DRD Tokens: Crypto with a Purpose
The DRD token is the star of the show. You earn it by hosting a station or running a node, and businesses use it to grab the flight data they need. It's not just some random coin to trade—it's got real juice because it's tied to a legit use case. The more people join, the more data flows, and the more DRD gets moving. It's crypto with a mission, and that's the kind of energy I vibe with.
Why This Matters (Especially forAviation Geeks)
Okay, let's get real-flying's already pretty safe, but it's not perfect. Radar's great, but it's blind in tons of places, like over the Pacific or in the middle of nowhere. ADS-B fixes that, but only if there are enough stations to catch the signals.Derad's like, "Let's crowdsource this." Here's why it's a game-changer:
Safer Skies: More stations = better tracking. That means fewer chances of planes bumping into each other (yikes) and faster help if something goes wrong.
Cheaper Than Big Tech: Building centralized stations costs a fortune. Derad's DIY approach saves cash and spreads the love to smaller players like regional airlines or even drone companies.
Regulators Love It: Blockchain makes everything transparent. Airspace rules getting broken? It's logged forever, no shady cover-ups.
Regulators Love It: Blockchain makes everything transparent. Airspace rules getting broken? It's logged forever, no shady cover-ups.
Logistics Glow-Up: Airlines can plan better routes, save fuel, and track packages like champs, all thanks to this decentralized data stash.
And get this-they're not stopping at planes.Derad's teasing plans to tackle maritime tracking with AlS (think ships instead of wings). This could be huge.
Where It's Headed
Derad's still in its early ascent, but the flight plan's stacked. They're aiming for 10,000 ground stations worldwide (imagine the coverage!), launching cheap antenna kits to get more people in, and dropping "Ground Station as a Service" (GSS) so even newbies can join. The Mainnet XL launch is coming to crank up the scale, and they're teaming up with SDR makers and Layer 2 blockchains to keep it smooth and speedy.
The wildest part? They want a full-on marketplace for radio signals-not just planes, but all kinds of real-time data. It's ambitious as hell, and I'm rooting for it.
Why Tumblr Should Stan Derad
This isn't just for crypto bros or plane spotters-it's for anyone who loves seeing tech solve real problems. Derad's got that DIY spirit Tumblr thrives on: take something niche (flight data), flip it into a community project, and make it matter. The DRD token's got legs because it's useful, not just a gamble. It's like catching a band before they blow up.
The Rough Patches
No flight's turbulence-free. Aviation's got rules out the wazoo, and regulators might side-eye a decentralized setup. Scaling to thousands of stations needs hardware and hype, which isn't instant. Other DePIN projects or big aviation players could try to muscle in too. But Derad's got a unique angle-community power and a solid mission—so I'm betting it'll hold its own.
Final Boarding Call
Derad Network's the kind of project that gets me hyped. It's crypto with soul, turning us into the heroes who keep planes safe while sticking it to centralized gatekeepers. Whether you're a tech geek, a crypto stan, or just someone who loves a good underdog story, this is worth watching.
Derad's taking off, and I'm strapped in for the ride. What about you?

Pi Network (PI) Holds Key Support - Is a Rebound Possible Ahead
Pi Network's native cryptocurrency, Pi (PI), has recently experienced significant volatility, with its price fluctuating between $1.30 and $2.00. As of March 12, 2025, PI is trading at approximately $1.67, reflecting an 18.52% increase over the past 24 hours. citeturn0search8
A key factor influencing PI's price dynamics is the upcoming Pi Day on March 14, marking the sixth anniversary of the project's launch. This date is also the deadline for users to complete their Know Your Customer (KYC) verification and migrate their mined PI from the testnet to the mainnet. Failure to do so may result in forfeiture of balances, adding pressure on users to finalize the migration. citeturn0search5
The anticipation surrounding a potential Binance listing has further fueled speculation. A recent community vote revealed that 86% of participants support PI's listing on Binance. While Binance has yet to make an official announcement, the community remains optimistic that such a listing could enhance liquidity and drive PI's price upward. citeturn0search7
Technical analysis indicates that PI is holding above the $1.40 support level. The Moving Average Convergence Divergence (MACD) shows a mild bullish crossover, suggesting potential upward momentum. However, the Relative Strength Index (RSI) stands at 35, indicating that the asset is approaching oversold territory. Key resistance levels are identified at $1.50 and $2.00. citeturn0search0
In summary, PI is currently maintaining key support levels amid market volatility. The upcoming Pi Day announcements and the potential Binance listing are pivotal events that could influence PI's price trajectory. Investors are advised to monitor these developments closely, as they may present opportunities for a rebound or signal further consolidation.
