i’ve been having mushipoe brainrot for the past few days so please let me present something for your shipping consideration.

[CHAPTER 78.5 SPOILERS]

as you manga readers know, mushitarou is currently staying at poe’s mansion for protection. and we know how strangely excited poe is to be hosting him.

but people are overlooking just how kindly poe is treating him and how it’s the warmest we’ve ever seen any character treat mushitarou.

poe is saving his life rn. all he needed to do was host him and that would’ve been enough. but poe was concerned about keeping him entertained. he encouraged mushi to engage in a personal interest to keep his spirits up :)

and later, we see him checking in on mushitarou. i imagine he heard mushi’s shout from a few panels prior and came to check on him.

and look how satisfied he is when he sees mushitarou finally writing. from what he’s thinking in these panels, we can tell that he wasn’t just concerned with entertaining mushi. he wanted to give him an emotional outlet, as well. poe is aware of mushi’s past, that we can assume. he wants to help him cope with his grief. he wants to help him heal <3

if that wasn’t sweet enough, i’ve picked up on a little detail that most probably haven’t. yes, this means that i’ve skimmed this section of the manga over and over again..

we can see here that mushi falls asleep without any blankets

but after he wakes up, we explicitly see that he has one on.

poe tucked him in while he was sleeping.

Ranpo’s (Un)fortunate meeting with Mori and the Heartless Mafia Executive! (Ranpo in my Souheki Roleswap! AU)

After being beat up badly at the theatre, Ranpo was brought to a doctor that was also there for the play, his doctor's coat was as white as snow, in contrast to his dark hair and eyes: his aura was eerie, it grounded him with an irrational fear, the boy showed no signs of being afraid of doctors or hospitals before, or anything related to that, the man walked closer to the couch the boy was on, smiling; "Hello, Ranpo-kun, I'll be your doctor for today." And that's when it hit, that guy wasn't any ordinary medic, and he was sure the guy knew that, given the sinister smile he had, "My name is Ougai Mori," he had begun speaking again, his predatory voice had the boy on alert, his body was ready to rush out the door, should the doctor do anything risky or highly suspicious, he was prepared, he did not feel safe there. Ougai crouched a little so his dark hair brushed against Edogawa's face, looking at him rather seductively, his cold fingers touching his now very pale cheeks, "What's wrong? You look like you saw a ghost", Ranpo didn't know how to answer that, he wouldn't, as he was aware that the words from his mouth were filthier than need be, he only shifted his position to secure his legs on the bed, he backed up a bit from the medic slowly, Ougai moved his hands and reached for the tools he needed to clean up the blood from the kid's face: moving an inch felt as if it would make the world collapse, even breathing, so he stayed dead silent, seeing how brute and sketchy the guards treated him, even if only by a stare or a sigh, he deduced he was a mafia doctor, Mori was too busy humming an unrecognizable tune while sorting through his utensils to notice anything, so much so that Ranpo could almost walk out the door, almost, "Where are you going?" He froze in his tracks, eyes wide and glued to the floor, managing to acquire a calm attitude before turning around, a little smile on his face as he adjusted his hat, "The play's starting, can we go, mister?" Mori agreed and they made their way to the theatre after the wounds were stitched, Mori walking alarmingly close to him, happily humming.

In their seats, Ranpo couldn't help but yell out the answer in complete frustration, Mori, instead of scolding him, encouraged his outburst and simply patted his head in understanding: as the murderer on stage finished his speech, Mori stayed on stage throughout and mentally picked Ranpo apart, inserting the idea that those too foolish to understand him, those who dared to argue back and question his intelligence, should be silenced eternally: cut to the theatre being filled with dead silence, crimson wine staining everything, from ceiling to stage, a blade shining in the spotlight; "I knew you were a natural, Ranpo-kun!" The boy's previously glowing emerald eyes saw in a withered, lightless green, emotionlessly,

Ranpo Edogawa, a twenty-six year old Executive working under Mori, is specialized in interrogation and assassination, is known to have masochist and sadistic tendencies towards himself and his enemies: frequently resorting to torture for self-enjoyment, even he is under it himself, he does not show the least bit of displeasure, critizing and debunking their means and such instead, an avid lover of switchblades and knives in general (curtesy of Mori), prefers to go on missions with either Chuuya or alone, them being an exceptional team in the Mafia for their effectiveness and success, he's rather nice to the redhead, if the annoying bickering is put aside; apart from one-on-one combat, he's surprisingly athletic, shifting from rooftop to rooftop with ease, loves taunting his persecutors before torturing and killing them off, moving onto the next bloodbath to be executed flawlessly. His life outside of work is one of a cat and dog lover who often visits animal shelters and a particular library owned by an occult enthusiast and a famous American mystery novel writer, who offer him sweets as he reads the day away, often being the last one to stay in the library, helping out as they close up for the day and waving goodbye; still, even in the Mafia, he's the most apathetic towards human life, not caring who lives and who dies, who's innocent and who is not, they are all the same to him, shedding blood without blinking: despite this, he could be described as childish and generous by outsiders who aren't aware of his line of work, maybe even sweet.

I think he would buy something for writing for Oguri, of course. It's, y'know, basicall present for a novelist/poet (Edgar will never admit it, but he fucking loves Mushitarou's writings, even if they are not very good. Editors are not writers).

And for a second present...hmmm. Help me, please? Maybe new comb? Or watches?

And, I think, Poe would buy him a cup. Y'know, big and heavy and very very silly (on which would be written something stupid, like "The ruler of the world" or...idk, "Shrek lives in us").

And Oguri would love this present with all his heart, because...eh, come on, it means a lot to him. It feels like with cup Edgar buys him place in his place, makes him belong.

i think edgar would lowkey just buy a wholeass typewriter for him LAJDHAHA poe probably doesnt use a computer or a laptop and strictly writes using ink & quill or a typewriter, so i think he’d get really fancy inks for mushi (ˊᵕ͙ૣᴗᵕ͙ૣˋ)♡

i agree w the fact that poe would like mushis writing despite it not being good ALDJAJ if not, he’d find it.. interesting at least ^^;

poes rich as hell and would . probably get anything mushi spends 2 seconds looking at lolol but i personally think maybe 1. new inks 2. fancy jewelry / watch 3. like a nacre box? nacre boxes are essentially boxes with mother of pearl inlaid, and i think poe would getting sophisticated stuff like that for him (even if its super overpriced ( . ̫.) )

there's like a lot below so uh have fun! feel free to send in another ask because i have. a lot more things to say about them and i'm too shy to talk about them without having been explicitly asked beforehand ok here we go

(first ones not romantic but) mushitarou totally did poe's crazily gelled hair when he appeared in chapter 80 as the sharpshooter

i like to headcanon that poe's not used to living with someone right off the bat

despite his mansion being huge poe would feel like mushitarou's presence takes up a lot of space

because lets face it, mushitarous loud, likes to complain, likes demanding things (he lists off like a bunch of shit right off the bat when meeting fyodor), likes things to be a very specific way etc etc

i like to think that mushitarou likes things to be orderly and clean and i! like to hc poe as a messy guy

because poe is. very obviously not mentally stable his desk is probably overcrowded with crumpled drafts that he thinks aren't good enough while he sits like a shrimp, i mean mans got a raccoon that house is bound to be a mess

so right off the bat there's a lot of banter to be found there

poe thinks it's totally fine to have 10 mugs on his desk still half full from two weeks ago and mushitarou! does not!

mushitarou ends up helping poe clean the room because it's starting to smell like something died in there, and the cleaning session ends up helping poe write more efficiently

despite mushitarou being a ... not very good writer, mushitarou is extremely good at editing and often reads through and critics poe's drafts. i like to think that poe becomes an even greater writer thanks to him ehehe

mushitarou still has nightmares over yokomizo. poe finds him one night on the balcony and gives him something warm to drink

none of them say anything they just sit next to each other in the cold, looking at the stars

from then on they slowly start to show trust in each other and even build a routine

poe's grown used to having someone in the house with him now and despite still not being good at social interaction, he can mess up around mushitarou without feeling extreme self doubt and hatred

the rooms don't feel as empty in the mansion anymore. rooms that previously went abandoned like the dining area now carry memories of . just having a nice time talking to mushitarou, eating mediocre meals with him and karl

and somehow mushitarou's precense doesn't feel overwhelming anymore. it feels a bit more like hope, like home, like meeting someone and knowing you'd love them, one way or another.

sometimes mushitarou will find poe huddled at his writing desk late into the night, desperately trying to write something good to prove something to ranpo and mushitarou lowkey just carries slash hauls poe to bed when it's too late, putting a blanket over him

and mushitarou?? lowkey gets sort of mad at ranpo lol,, i love ranpo don't get me wrong but ranpo lowkey uses poe quite a few times in canon with little to no conpensation and mushitarou is Not okay with that

and when mushitarou's lowkey yelling at ranpo to quit the bullshit and stop treating poe like garbage when poe obviously still harbours feelings for ranpo? yeah. mushitarou is probably the second last person to realise he likes poe lol

there isn't a definitive moment where mushitarou falls for poe it's more so through poe just being kind to him and the process of them trusting each other

i think poe would fall in love with mushitarou because of the way mushitarou carries himself with this. grandiose confidence while still being smart enough to notice when poe's not feeling good and actively try to make him feel better

their relationship definetly isn't perfect there would be so many fucking issues mushitarou would probably say something insensitive by accident at the wrong time, or maybe poe would drown himself in work, still obsessively trying to beat ranpo while completely ignoring his health which would lead to some heated arguments

but at the end of the day they'll manage to make it up to one another. they're both stubborn men but i think they're really good listeners in general they can make it work
