An old piano sits solemnly in a dusty room surrounded by tattered furniture and decoration, triumphant in its preservation.

As your adventuring party moves onwards to explore the rest of the abandoned urban sprawl you found yourselves in, you linger for but a moment.

Your classical training returns to you briefly, and a folk song learned over the course of a few fleeting piano lessons comes to mind.

You brush debris from a stool, get yourself comfortable, and let the memories flow.

Grandpa finally passed yesterday. He was struggling to do much of anything in his final few months. Neocortical Reminiscence Stimulation was able to give him something nice to think about on his way out, at least.

At dad's request, the doctors were able to export what they thought would be an abstraction of his final memory. These things usually come out as a string of data interpreted from electrical signals, usually just a nice keepsake for families to print out, take away and frame next to the urn.

But grandpa's came out different. We stared at the doctor as she looked at her monitor in shock, and as we were about to ask what the problem was, she just put a finger to her lips and told us to listen.

It was an audio file.
