Loop and their death march. The smile they put on for everyone else. They keep up the mood in the final floors because they can't let their family know, they can't let them know that this has all been for NOTHING. So they play the friendly traveler without a care in the world. Finding keys. Cracking jokes.
After all, if Siffrin isn't worried, they'll be fine, right?
The one time Loop asks for help, it isn't from their family. It's the stars, it's from the Universe.
They end up in a familiar place. A role to fill. A guide to be.
They may not be finding keys, but they still point to their locations.
It may not be for their family, but they're still being a steady presence.
They cannot smile for they have no mouth, but their eyes are fixed in a facade of joy.
Helpful Loop. Helpful friendly Loop. A Siffrin who wasted themself away trying to be what everyone else needed them to be. A star turned into a perfect guide for another Siffrin's adventures.
Helpful Loop. Who even if they win the fight against their reflection, can't bring themself to be selfish and just TAKE their happy ending.
Maybe it's just in their nature to give themself away until they're nothing. Maybe they were always meant to break.
I'm sorry, Siffrin. And thank you, Loop.
To be something for someone else, is the greatest joy and the most awful burden, is it not?
