#Pork Slices

Bought mum to the Foodfare at Sembawang MRT Station for an early dinner cum grocery shopping. She went off in the direction of the economy rice stall and came back with this plate of Economy Rice (菜饭) of stir-fried pork slices and herbal chicken leg.

I on the other hand noticed a new stall selling Filipino cuisine. My eyes settled on the butterflied and Boneless Bangus with Rice (S$8). The fried bangus fish is a deboned milkfish (虱目鱼) with a miserable wedge of tomato as garnish. It comes with white rice and soup plus the seller asked me to help myself to the pinkish spiced vinegar (sinamak). While it tasted alright, the fish is dry and not moist enough.

Hello friends, I have been debating buying a hotpot to make hotpot. Unfortunately, I've never actually made hotpot myself before. (I mostly used to eat it at restaurants and at my one auntie's house) so idk like, what to put in it that would be good.

What are your favorite hotpot recipes and things to put in the hotpot?

Also: if you make your own hotpot soup bases instead of going out to buy them, are there any good recipes for that?

Hey, don't cry, okay? Take a block of medium-firm tofu, wrap it in paper towel, and put it on a plate with something heavy on top until the water is squeezed out. Cut the tofu into small rectangles, then individually coat each piece in flour, or rice flour for a gluten-free option. Sprinkle some salt and white pepper in your flour mixture for flavour. Pan fry in a large pan until each side is golden, and either serve as is or you can toss the tofu in the pan with a savoury sweet sauce.

This dinner is from the same hole in the wall Economy Rice (菜饭) stall in Chong Pang Food Centre. They don’t even use a plate but instead place a sheet of food wrapper on the tray and served you your meal. Little dish variation from the ones that mum usually buy for me. Here, I took bitter gourd stir-fry, a fried chicken drumstick and savoury sliced pork.
