Sunday! September 10th! Oaks Amusement Park!

We are vending with 40+ other witches and pagan folks. Check out our books, zines, buttons, and even some crafts and herbs from the Spiral House Garden. Then ride a rollercoaster or eat some cotton candy or a funnel cake. There's are workshops and a community ritual too.

Columbia-Willamette Pagan Pride Day on Sunday, September 8, 2024 @ Oaks Amusement Park in Portland, OR

10 am to 5 pm

While the event is free, there is a yearly drive for non-perishable food items and personal care items for Esther's Pantry, an organization dedicated to providing help to low income folks. Support via donations is greatly appreciated.

It's been go-go-go time with vending events, new housemates, and autumn garden stuff. I took the afternoon off to drive up to Seattle with @lemonbalmgirl for a nature walk with Pacific northwest animists arranged by Via Hedera. We are waiting for food now because the traffic was miraculous! Seriously, it takes between 3 or 5 hours to get from Portland to Seattle and we aimed for 4 and got here in 3.

The picture is one of the hawthorn protection charms I finally got around to make and sell on Sunday at Columbia Willamette Pagan Pride Day. It's at Oaks Park and it's free! I'll do more promo tomorrow.

Is there a mailing list for the pagan pride stuff? I live in Springfield and until today, I had never heard of this.

I don't know of any mailing lists (aside from the one they use to contact merchants), but they have a website & a Facebook page.

I'm sorry you found about it after the fact. It sure sounds like it will be happening next year, though!

Hi Alex! I'm a Portland-based secular witch and my partner is interested in druidry, secular witchcraft, and paganism in general. Problem is, they have allergy-triggered asthma and most gathering spaces or pagan/witchcraft stores are pretty incense-heavy, which could give them a really bad reaction. Do you know of any places or events we could go to to get more involved in the local pagan community, ideally without killing an asthmatic?

As a person with a sibling that is Allergic to Everything, I can appreciate this. I honestly don’t go to a lot of places or do a long of things associated with paganism, because I’m not pagan but I did go to Pagan Pride, which was outside and there were still a lot of people burning incense. Honestly, my sister is sort of a bad ass and even though her reactions are of often more internal (MCAS) I could see her wearing a mask or even a full on gas mask into a witch shop, let them feel weird about it, ya know. “Hey, my partner might have a band reaction to all this smoke so, I hope you don’t mind we can prepared.” What asshole is going to say not to that?

I mean, you could also call ahead and ask if they could refrain from incense for the day you expect to go? It’s interesting that a lot of places have a no scent policy but who ever thinks about incense?

Also, I did speak to some really nice folks from the local Druid grove and I know they are real people here in Portland that seemed kind. I don’t know if that would give you any comfort in contacting them to see what they are all about.

Columbia-Willamette Pagan Pride Day on Sunday, September 8, 2024 @ Oaks Amusement Park in Portland, OR

10 am to 5 pm

While the event is free, there is a yearly drive for non-perishable food items and personal care items for Esther's Pantry, an organization dedicated to providing help to low income folks. Support via donations is greatly appreciated.

Hey friends The Portland Button Works and the PBW Witch shop is messed up right now. I updated something and it broke something and now no one can place orders or even send messages from the comment form.

I've got two people working on it in vastly different time zones and I'm the relay for things I barely understand. Something Something PHP something session issues something time zones? I have full confidence in the people working on it to figure it out, but it is very frustrating and it taking longer than expected.

The bigger problem is that after Pagan Pride Day I spent A LOT of money on restocks, moved our sever, got the site running faster and was all ready with the new products and the events coming up and a website that works better. This has left me low on funds and now with days of no revenue coming in besides the Etsy Shop (Star Seller! Over 8,000 orders!), a few repeat custom clients that email their orders, and the dear hearts who send me emails about the site not working and can they orders some books.

Yes! You can still order and it will make me very happy so I'm not sitting in my bed fretting about how I'm leaving town in 10 days for a week and needed orders to come in before.
