but hmm, that's a good question. there is the problem, honestly, that i don't often think of how my different story ideas fit on the timeline or necessarily put them in a chronological order, so i'm basically having to come up with something on the spot here :D

but I think. I think. It would have been fairly early on in their acquaintance, perhaps while they were talking with a potential client. Things went wrong. There was a fight. Somehow Elias got stabbed somewhere that bleeds a lot. By the time things calmed down enough for Anthony to notice or do anything about it, Elias was weak enough from the blood loss to not be able to put up much resistance to Anthony carrying him away and patching him up.

It took a long time (like, year or two at least, kind of long) for Elias to begin to trust that Anthony didn't hold that as a debt Elias owed him and wouldn't at some point in the future bring that up in order to force Elias to do something
