New Car
Peter was aware of how stupid it was to meet with the seller of the car. It was an almost new BMW M3. The car was still going to cost over USD 100,000.00. That was way out of his budget. But there was something that appealed to him even more than the car itself. In a photo, the owner had been reflected in the car's freshly polished paintwork. And Peter couldn't get this reflection out of his head. You couldn't see much. But what you could see was muscular, tattooed and wearing a shiny Adidas tracksuit. Peter couldn't get this image out of his head for the life of him. So he dialed the number given. And when he heard the voice on the other end of the line, he got a hard-on. It was churlish English with a heavy Arabic accent. Peter was actually on the phone to one of his favorite wankers. Bloody hell! He tried to act as cool as possible. He tried to ask a few questions that feigned competence in the direction of sports cars. He was trying to come across as cool and chavvy as possible. He probably sounded more than ridiculous. But the two of them arranged to go for a test drive. After the salesman hung up, Peter urgently needed to go to the bathroom. And have a wank.
The appointment for the test drive was on Friday evening. Peter took the bus to the address given, which was located in a suburb with a bad reputation. There was garbage on the streets. There was graffiti on the walls. But the cars parked on the street were in many cases like something from another world. Expensive, high-powered cars, perfectly maintained. And he was leaning against one of them. The prototype of an Arab chav who spent too much time pumping iron and in the tattoo parlor. Peter had to make sure his erection wasn't too obvious. The guy introduced himself as Ibrahim and greeted Peter with a fist bump. He said that Peter wasn't allowed to smoke in the car and offered him a fag. And instead of saying that he didn't smoke at all, Peter gratefully accepted the fag, took a light and walked around the Bavarian beauty, trying to look as professional as possible. "Shit, dude, what's that on your pants?" Damn, Peter must have sat on a piece of chewing gum on the bus. "You're not getting into my car like that," growled Ibrahim. He opened the trunk, took a pair of training pants out of a sports bag and threw them to Peter. "Seriously?" asked Peter. "Here, on the street?" "Either that or you can fuck right off again." So Peter took off his shoes and trousers, put on the tracksuit bottoms and then his…. Nike sneakers??!?!???! He wasn't wearing sneakers. Ibrahim threw him the key. "Come on then, brother. Fall in love with my baby!" Peter sat down and tried to start the engine as cool as possible. When the 510 horses howled, he winced. Ibrahim grinned. "Yes, you have to get used to it. But you will. Go on, drive towards the highway!" The car was hell. An untamed beast. Peter's forehead was covered in sweat. "Come on, old man! Step on the gas!" And Peter stepped on the gas. The speedometer showed 140 miles per hour. Damn, that would cost him his driver's license. And Ibrahim calmly started a conversation about soccer. "Of course Galatasaray will win the championship again this time!" Peter heard himself say and stepped on the gas once more. The BMW was power and strength pressed into leather and steel. He loved the car. As if remote-controlled, he chased the car first along the highway and then at far too high a speed along the arterial road towards the city center. The sleeve of his jacket stretched across his biceps as he wrenched the steering wheel. Ibrahim pressed himself into his sports seat. "Hehehe, you and the baby make the perfect unit!" "Dostum, ne düşünüyorsun? Gerçek Türk erkeklerinin kanında petrol vardır." replied Peter. No, not Peter, Sinan! Ibrahim turned up the music. Syrian gangster rap. Just the right thing to cruise along the city center boulevards now. it was a warm evening. Ibrahim opened the glass roof. He let his mighty biceps hang out of the open window. The boys and girls looked respectful, envious or disgusted when Sinan revved the engine. But in any case, they looked: Who gives a shit, they had the coolest car, they were the cool guys with the biggest muscles. "Dude, get some cigs and then change drivers," said Ibrahim Sinan. And Sinan headed for the nearest kiosk.
Tumblr media
Sinan would never be able to afford such a car in his life. Even though he was number two in the gang behind Ibrahim, his place was usually in the passenger seat. But fuck it, Ibrahim was his boss and he followed him through rough and tumble. Ibrahim's hand missed the stick of the gearshift. But he caught something that was at least as hard. Shit, if he cums on the leather, Sinan would spend the whole morning cleaning the car again. But it was worth it.

Famine is already probably present in at least some areas of northern Gaza, while other areas are in danger of falling into conditions of starvation, the US state department said on Friday a day after the world’s top court ordered Israel to admit food aid into the territory.
“While we can say with confidence that famine is a significant risk in the south and centre but not present, in the north, it is both a risk and quite possibly is present in at least some areas,” a state department official told Reuters.
The US comments add to a growing and powerful consensus that Israel’s military offensive in the Palestinian coastal territory has triggered a famine.
The number of trucks distributing aid in south and central Gaza had nearly reached 200 a day, an increase on a month ago, but more were needed, the state department official said.
“You need to address the full nutrition needs of the population of Gaza of all ages. That means more than just that minimal survival level feeding,” the official said, adding that malnutrition, and infant and young-child mortality was a significant, growing problem.
“It has to be addressed by additional assistance coming and the right kind of assistance coming in,” he said.
The official added that a maritime aid corridor promised by the US president, Joe Biden, which includes the construction of a floating port, would be ready in mid to late April, making efforts to deliver substantial aid by sea a race against time unless there is a meaningful increase in deliveries by road via Israeli border crossings.
The comments from Washington come despite Israeli claims that it is allowing sufficient access of food and other aid into Gaza. Last week Unrwa – the main aid agency delivering aid to Palestinians – said that it had been prevented from delivering aid.
The US warning follows hard on the heels of a ruling by the international court of justice (ICJ) in The Hague, which also warned that famine was becoming a fact in parts of Gaza.
On Thursday a panel of judges at the UN’s top court, which is already considering a complaint from South Africa that Israel is committing genocide in the Palestinian territory, issued a unanimous ruling ordering Israel to admit humanitarian assistance.
“The court observes that Palestinians in Gaza are no longer facing only a risk of famine … but that famine is setting in,” the judges said.
That, in turn, followed a report by the Integrated Food Security Phase Classification, the global authority on food security, assessing that famine was imminent and likely to occur by May in northern Gaza, and could spread across the entire enclave by July.
On Friday the head of Unrwa, Philippe Lazzarini, tweeted that the ICJ’s ruling was “a stark reminder that the catastrophic humanitarian situation in the Gaza Strip is man made and worsening”.
Israel has faced accusations, including from the UN’s top rights official, Volker Türk, that it is potentially committing “a war crime” by continuing to obstruct food aid to Gaza’s population of 2.3 million.
The latest comments come amid mounting frustration in the Biden administration with Israel, which is a recipient of substantial military, financial and diplomatic support from Washington.
In a statement marking Arab-American Heritage Month, Biden said: “We must pause to reflect on the pain being felt by so many in the Arab American community with the war in Gaza.
“The trauma, death and destruction in Israel and Gaza have claimed, and continue to claim, far too many innocent lives – including family and friends of Arab Americans across our nation.”
Biden, who is facing significant disillusionment among US voters over the war in an election year, said that his administration was “working with partners across the region to respond to the urgent humanitarian crisis, deliver desperately needed aid to Gaza, free the hostages taken during the brutal Hamas terrorist attack on 7 October, and establish an immediate ceasefire that would last at least six weeks, which we would work to build into something more enduring”.
The latest famine warnings came as the Israeli prime minister, Benjamin Netanyahu, approved new talks on a Gaza ceasefire, and heavy fighting continued in the strip including at several hospitals.
Netanyahu’s office said new talks on a Gaza ceasefire and hostage release would take place in Doha and Cairo “in the coming days … with guidelines for moving forward in the negotiations”, days after they appeared stalled.
On Monday the UN security council demanded an “immediate ceasefire” in Gaza, the release of hostages held by militants, and “ensuring humanitarian access”.
Member states are obliged to abide by such resolutions, but the Doctors Without Borders charity said nothing has changed on the ground.
Aid groups say only a fraction of the supplies required have been allowed in since October, when Israel placed Gaza under near-total siege.
Israel has tried to blame shortages on the Palestinian side, namely a lack of capacity to distribute aid, while humanitarian groups say that Israel is not allowing enough trucks in to make deliveries.

Maiar in 'The Lady of Ithilien'
(to be updated with new information as the story progresses. As such, things may change)
Eönwë
Herald and banner-bearer of Manwë, the High King of Arda. He's among the most powerful Maiar in Valinor and the mightiest in arms. Military leader and High Commander of the Host of the Valar, he was one of the key fighters during the War of Wrath, which marked the end of the First Age of the Sun.
Birth: he entered Arda shortly after it was created.
Married to Elenna of the House of Húrin.
Fancast: Daniel Sharman
Tumblr media
Ilmarë
Eönwë's younger sister and handmaiden of Varda, Queen of the Valar and Manwë's wife. Along with her brother, she's one of the chiefs of the Maiar.
Birth: she entered Arda shortly after it was created.
Eventually married to Eldarion, Crown Prince of Gondor and Arnor.
Fancast: Matilda Lutz
Tumblr media
Olórin
Also known as Gandalf (one of his many aliases), he has served several Valar throughout the various ages of Arda. He's mainly associated with Manwë and Varda, but he also served Nienna, Valië of sorrow and compassion and Irmo, Vala of dreams and visions. (Olórin is a Quenya name and its meaning is something along the lines of "dream of mind")
Birth: he entered Arda shortly after it was created.
Fancast: Sir Ian McKellen (as Gandalf during the War of the Ring. He sticks to this form for a little while longer before switching back to his usual one); Bradley James (as Olórin)
Tumblr media
(they give the same vibe tbh)
Wilwarin
Maia serving Irmo and occasionally Nienna. She's had a major crush on Olórin ever since she met him. She's not the sharpest tool in the box (sorry girl, I still love you), but she's kind-hearted and keeps to herself because no one wants to befriend her due to her perceived stupidity. SHE NEEDS LOVE AND AFFECTION, which no one has ever given her because most Maiar are stuck up and arrogant. Extremely naïve and completely clueless at times, she's been nicknamed "Wilya" (meaning airhead) by her fellow Maiar. She's obsessed with Olórin because he's the only one who's ever actually interacted with her.
Birth: She entered Arda at the beginning of the Second Age of the Sun, following the War of Wrath.
Fancast: Tuğba Melis Türk
Tumblr media
Isilmë
Maia of Vayanna. Considered among the most beautiful Maiarin women to ever enter Arda, she has been obsessed with Eönwë ever since she first saw him. They had a brief fling following the War of Wrath, which, needless to say, ended very quickly (and badly). She's firmly convinced he's still in love with her and will do anything to get him back. Her name is Quenya for "moonlight".
Birth: she entered Arda following the War of Wrath (around the same time as Wilwarin)
Fancast: Beste Kökdemir
Tumblr media
Isilya
Maia of Yavanna. She's Isilmë's close friend (or so she believes). She fails to realize Isilmë doesn't really love her or value their friendship, but simply uses her for her own purposes. She blindly follows her "friend" and indistinctly agrees with everything the latter says or does, as she's been brainwashed into thinking she's perfect. She doesn't seem to have a mind of her own, modeling her own behavior after Isilmë, as she's afraid to lose the connection they share. She's petty and very annoying, but not inherently evil and might even redeem herself eventually. Who knows. Her name is Quenya for "the third day of the week" according to the Númenórean calendar.
(It might sound odd, but I picked the name purely because it sounds similar to Isilmë and because I like the sound of it, not necessarily because I had a specific idea. I'm terrible at naming characters, I know. Please don't be mean)
Birth: she entered Arda following the War of Wrath.
Fancast: Dilara Aksüyek
Tumblr media
Elenna's household
Four Maiarin ladies enter her service after her marriage to the Herald.
Handalimë
Originally a Maia of Vána, she is thoughtful, level-headed, smart and highly practical. Elenna is entrusted to her and she quickly grows fond of her new lady, becoming one of her most trusted servants and her main confidante. She's usually calm and collected and makes it her mission to protect her lady from anyone who might wish her harm—namely her sister Isilmë and a few of the Noldorin elves— and constantly worries about her. Her lady's well-being is her utmost priority.
Birth: she entered Arda sometime before the end of the First Age.
Fancast: Gülcan Arslan
Tumblr media
Narael
A Maia of Aulë, she's spunky and crafty but also naive and shy. She loves making rings and necklaces and will be gifting many jewels to her new lady. She can often be found chatting with Gimli, as she's never seen a dwarf before and wants to know all about dwarf customs and traditions (for fairly obvious reasons, I'd say). Kind-hearted and wiser than she lets on, she loves sitting by fireplaces (and lighting them).
Birth: she entered Arda at the beginning of the Third Age.
Fancast: Sophie Turner
Tumblr media
Aranwen
A Maia of Nessa, she loves dancing, nature and poetry. She's not a great conversationalist, but when she does speak, one had better stop and listen. She loves reading and will spend many hours discussing books and history with her lady. She enjoys needlework and she's quite a good painter as well. She respects Elena greatly and often reassures her. Even though they get on each other's nerves quite often, she's great friends with Naráel. She too will spend a bit of time with Gimli, but only to try and convince him that ripping down trees is inherently bad. Nevertheless, she grows fond of the lord of the Glittering Caves- she and Legolas will try and teach him how to dance. Whether they will succeed is still unknown.
Birth: she entered Arda at the beginning of the Third Age.
Fancast: Rose Williams
Tumblr media
Elenya
Maia of Varda (the name is kind of a giveaway).
She's sweet, kind and very protective of Elenna. She often likes to remark how similar their names are and loves to recount stories that most have forgotten (star-related, of course). She was lady-in-waiting to Ilmarë before she volunteered to join Elenna's household.
Birth: she entered Arda during the Years of the Trees.
Fancast: Yasemin Allen

Tarih 1919.
Sinirler gergin, herkesin morali bozuktur.
Caminin İmamı Rıdvan Hoca, Cuma Hutbesi için minbere çıkar ve cemaatin şaşkın bakışları arasında;
Tamamen gerçek ve tarihimizde benzeri olmayan bu olay sayesinde halkın milli bilinci uyanmış;
... "Silah gücüyle inen bayrağımız 🇹🇷, iman gücüyle yeniden dalgalandırılmıştır."🇹🇷
Allah Rahmet Eylesin mekanı cennet olsun 🇹🇷
.....
The date is 1919.
#Kahramanmaraş is under occupation.
French General Governor Andre organizes a ball in Maraş one evening to celebrate the occupation and invites the Armenian girl to dance.
But the Armenian girl said:
"I cannot dance with you unless the Turkish flag in the castle comes down" and turned down the offer.
Thereupon, the General gives a vile order to his soldiers:
-"Take down that piece of cloth from the castle."
The next day, Friday, the people of Maraş see that the Turkish flag in the castle has been taken down and the French flag has been erected in its place.
The people are sad and helpless.
Then the Friday call to prayer is recited and the people gather in the grand mosque.
Nerves are tense, everyone is in a bad mood.
The Imam of the mosque, Rıdvan Hodja, goes up to the pulpit for the Friday Sermon and, amidst the astonished looks of the community, he takes the TURKISH Flag in his hand and says:
-"Hey Community, you should know that I did not go up to the pulpit for the Friday Sermon.
Friday prayer is obligatory for free people.
In a country where its own flag does not fly in its castle."
"Friday Prayer is not performed.
First, let's wave our flag again and then perform our prayer," he says.
Suddenly, takbir sounds are heard in the mosque.
With this feeling and courage, the people attack the castle.
The French soldiers are afraid of what to do, and our flag is raised again with the sounds of takbir.
On that day, people perform the Friday Prayer in the bastion of the castle.
Thanks to this completely real and unique event in our history, the national consciousness of the people was awakened and ;
..."Our flag, which was lowered by the power of arms, was raised again by the power of faith."
Rest in peace!

Common Dreams
Nov. 8, 2023
United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights Volker Türk declared Wednesday that "the collective punishment by Israel of Palestinian civilians amounts... to a war crime, as does the unlawful forcible evacuation of civilians."
Israel's monthlong war on Gaza has killed over 10,500 Palestinians, wounded thousands more, displaced 70% of the strip's 2.3 million residents, and decimated civilian infrastructure, including homes, religious buildings, and hospitals.
Türk's comments came after he visited the Rafah border crossing that connects Egypt to Gaza, which he described as "the gates to a living nightmare—a nightmare where people have been suffocating, under persistent bombardment, mourning their families, struggling for water, for food, for electricity and fuel."
Long before October 7, when a Hamas-led attack killed over 1,400 Israelis and triggered Israel's retaliation, Gaza was "described as the world's biggest open-air prison... under a 56-year occupation and a 16-year blockade by Israel," he highlighted.
"Even in the context of a 56-year-old occupation, the current situation is the most dangerous in decades, faced by people in Gaza, in Israel, in the West Bank, but also regionally."
The U.N. rights chief also stressed that "the atrocities perpetrated by Palestinian armed groups... were heinous, brutal, and shocking. They were war crimes—as is the continued holding of hostages." Israeli officials say there are about 240 hostages.
"We have fallen off a precipice. This cannot continue," he warned. "Even in the context of a 56-year-old occupation, the current situation is the most dangerous in decades, faced by people in Gaza, in Israel, in the West Bank, but also regionally."
Türk emphasized that "parties to the conflict have the obligation to take constant care to spare the civilian population and civilian objects," and as an occupying power, Israel is required "to ensure a maximum of basic necessities of life can reach all who need it."
"I call—as a matter of urgency—for the parties now to agree [to] a cease-fire on the basis of three critical human rights imperatives: We need urgent delivery of massive levels of humanitarian aid, throughout Gaza," he declared.
The official also called for all hostages to be freed without condition and said that "crucially, we need to enable the political space to implement a durable end to the occupation, based on the rights of both Palestinians and Israelis to self-determination and their legitimate security interests.
U.N. Secretary-General António Guterres—who has also been pushing for a cease-fire—called out Israel's aerial and ground operations for their impact on civilians during a Reuters conference on Wednesday.
"There are violations by Hamas when they have human shields. But when one looks at the number of civilians that were killed with the military operations, there is something that is clearly wrong," he said.
"We have in a few days in Gaza thousands and thousands of children killed, which means there is also something clearly wrong in the way military operations are being done," the U.N. leader added.
According to the Palestinian Ministry of Health in Gaza, the Israeli war against Hamas has killed over 4,300 children.
"It is also important to make Israel understand that it is against the interests of Israel to see every day the terrible image of the dramatic humanitarian needs of the Palestinian people," Guterres said. "That doesn't help Israel in relation to the global public opinion."
While French President Emmanuel Macron's plans to hold a Gaza-focused "humanitarian conference" in Paris on Thursday, the government of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is refusing to participate in the event.
Ahead of the conference, 13 human rights and relief groups called on attendees "to do everything in their power to achieve an immediate cease-fire; take concrete steps to free civilian hostages and protect all civilian populations; and ensure the entry of humanitarian aid into Gaza and respect for international humanitarian law."
Among them was Amnesty International—which, over the past month, has compiled "damning evidence of war crimes as Israeli attacks wipe out entire families." Some global experts and critics have demanded action from the International Criminal Court on "escalating Israeli war crimes and genocide of the Palestinian people" in Gaza.
In a resignation letter to Türk last month, Craig Mokhiber, who was serving as the New York director for the Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights, condemned Israel's war as "a textbook case of genocide."
"In the immediate term," Mokhiber wrote, "we must work for an immediate cease-fire and an end to the long-standing siege on Gaza, stand up against the ethnic cleansing of Gaza, Jerusalem, and the West Bank (and elsewhere), document the genocidal assault in Gaza, help to bring massive humanitarian aid and reconstruction to the Palestinians, take care of our traumatized colleagues and their families, and fight like hell for a principled approach in the U.N.'s political offices."

🇺🇳🇵🇸🇮🇱 🚨 STATEMENT ISSUED BY THE OFFICE OF THE UNITED NATIONS HIGH COMMISSIONER FOR HUMAN RIGHTS CALLING FOR CEASEFIRE
The United Nations Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights released a statement condemning the resumption of hostilities in the occupied Palestinian territories and called for a ceasefire.
In the statement, the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights, Volker Türk called the resumption of hostilities in the occupied territories "catastrophic" and urged a redoubling of efforts to ensure a ceasefire.
"Recent comments by Israeli political and military leaders indicating that they are planning to expand and intensify the military offensive are very troubling," the UN High Commissioner said.
"Since 7 October, thousands of Palestinians have been killed in Gaza, according to the Ministry of Health in Gaza. More now face the same fate. Others risk being forcibly displaced to already severely over-crowded and unsanitary parts of Gaza. The situation is beyond a crisis point."
The Commissioner goes on to say that as an occupying power, Israel is obligated under International Law to ensure that the basic needs of Palestinians living in the Gaza Strip, essentials such as food, water, and medical care, are met.
"I remind all parties of their obligation to allow and facilitate rapid and unimpeded passage of humanitarian relief for civilians in need, throughout Gaza," Commissioner Turk said.
"The way forward must be through an immediate end to the violence, the prompt and unconditional release of all remaining hostages, the cessation of firing of indiscriminate rockets and use of explosive weapons with wide-area effects in populated areas, humanitarian aid commensurate to the immense need and rapid unimpeded access, an end to practices of arbitrary detention by Israel, and concrete steps to avert further disaster, founded on full respect and protection of the human rights of Palestinians and Israelis."

In response to the most recent Quran-burning incident in Sweden, where an Iraqi immigrant burned the religious book in front of a mosque in Stockholm last June, the United Nations Human Rights Council (UNHRC) adopted a resolution on July 12th on religious hatred, condemning the acts of burning the Islamic holy book in Sweden.
UN: Quran burning is hate speech designed to incite https://t.co/tdyfQyjd4j pic.twitter.com/9KTGTFqyvT — The Guardian Nigeria (@GuardianNigeria) July 12, 2023
Introduced by Pakistan on behalf of the 57-member Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), the resolution urged the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights to draft a report on religious hatred and called on countries to review their laws and close legal loopholes that may "impede the prevention and prosecution of acts and advocacy of religious hatred."
The resolution was highly divisive since several states, primarily Western countries, decided not to back the proposal due to fears that it might infringe on freedom of speech and expression. Still, that did not prevent the human rights body from adopting the resolution. Among the council’s 47 members, 28 voted in favor of the resolution, 12 voted against it, and 7 chose to abstain.
Following a Quran burning in Sweden, the @UN passed a resolution calling on countries to “prevent and prosecute acts and advocacy of religious hatred.” The US and EU—rightly in my mind—voted against the resolution as a violation of freedom of expression. https://t.co/B0MaFz8u4h pic.twitter.com/58Dub2ynju — Leah McElrath (@leahmcelrath) July 13, 2023
Several countries that voted to adopt the resolution included Muslim-majority countries, such as Bangladesh, Pakistan, Morocco, the United Arab Emirates, and Malaysia. The 12 countries that voted against it included the United States, the United Kingdom, and members of the European Union. While Western countries condemned the recent Quran-burning act in Sweden, they argued that the resolution would more likely safeguard religious symbols than human rights.
The resolution also came after a debate on issues of religious protection shortly after the Quran-burning incident in Sweden on July 11th, which was held upon Pakistan’s request. Pakistan and other countries said "the alarming rise in premeditated and public acts of religious hatred as manifested by the recurrent desecration of the Holy Quran in some European and other countries” moved them to act.
Can't Allah fight for himself ? — Wormwood (@__init__kwargs) July 4, 2023
The outcome of the resolution showed the power of OIC-member states within the council, the only global body made up of governments to protect human rights all over the world and also marks a significant blow to the West and its allies on the issue, with the director of the Geneva-based Universal Rights Group Marc Limon saying that "the West is in full retreat at the Human Rights Council” and adding that "they're increasingly losing support and losing the argument."
It’s just a book. Grow up. — ASH:Mike Darwin (@darwin_ash) July 4, 2023
Pakistan's Permanent Representative to the UN, Khalil Hashmi, also criticized the West and accused them of "lip service" to their commitment to preventing religious hatred, adding that “they lack [the] political, legal and moral courage to condemn this act, and it was the minimum that the Council could have expected from them."
As the special session went underway, which is the second of the three annual sessions at the UNHRC that will run until July 14th, Austrian lawyer Volker Türk, who currently serves as the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights, said that “speech and inflammatory acts against Muslims, Islamophobia, antisemitism, and actions and speech that target Christians — or minority groups such as Ahmadis, Baha'is or Yazidis — are manifestations of utter disrespect. They are offensive, irresponsible, and wrong."
After burning down Paris they still believe they are victims. — CoolNambiar (@CoolNambiar) July 4, 2023
He also added that "every national limit on the greater right of free speech and free expression of opinion must be so formulated so that its only task, its only outcome, can be the protection of the individual — and not the protection of religious doctrines from critical analysis."

Translation:
hello, I am your Turkish follower who wrote to you before. I know it's hard to talk like this, but I wanted to get your opinion on something that was on my mind. There has been a lot of theory about Azriel's bonus episode and the necklace and I've read most of it. I wondered if Elain could infuse the necklace with prophetic power, just as Nesta infuses her power into objects. Thus, the necklace can convey some visions to the person holding it at that moment. It seemed to me that this might be a good explanation for the image Azriel saw. What do you think?
Hello my Turkish follower!
I've always held the opinion that if the necklace resurfaces again, in future books, that it's definitely Made. 'A thing of lovely, secret beauty' was said about the necklace, though it could be interpreted as being about Elain too. But the word 'secret' tells me that there is something about the necklace that we don't know.
I also think that it's possibly Made twice--by Azriel for Elain, and then in turn, by Elain for Azriel. I think it's imbued with both of their powers. Now, she also gave him the ear plugs. Which in a sense, is a dual gift--the ear plugs and then the returned necklace. Ear plugs are of course very interesting, because could it be possible that Elain Saw something and felt that the plugs would help Azriel in some manner in the future? It's a gift of protection, even if it may look pretty innocent. I also think that even though she was very hurt about his rejection, I don't think that she'd do anything to actually hurt him. So, if the necklace now has a grain of her Power, then I think it would be protective in essence as well.
But, knowing SJM, we might never hear or see anything about it ever again. If it was important, why not include it in the book? instead of Nessian's 57th sex scene.

Should the mosque imam pray to Atatürk in his Friday sermon?
This is a very sensitive issue. Many friends of Ataturk want prayers to be offered for Ataturk during Friday sermons, especially on Fridays close to the March 18th, the victory of the Turkish Republic, August 30th and October 29th, the Republic Day. I understand that most Imams are not very sympathetic to Ataturk's revolutions, or so it is perceived. In order to discuss an issue, we must agree on the following points.
1.Atatürk was a great soldier who led the wars of independence in the world.
2.Ataturk was against religion ruling societies and that is why he introduced secularism in the country, i.e. the separation of religion from the state.
3.We don't know Ataturk's faith, but according to what I have read from many sources, he is secular, that's for sure, in private probably Deist or atheist. Should the imam pray for such a person? In the old days, when a person's name was read in the Friday sermon, it meant that his rule was recognized there. Rulers who came to power used to have a khutba read in their name and coins minted in their name, this is an Islamic tradition. Attila, Genghis Khan, Timur were also of Mongolian or Turkish origin, do imams pray for them? Do they pray for someone who has no faith? Do they pray for Newton, Einstein or Edison? Do priests pray for Alexander, Caesar or Napoleon?
Conclusion: There is no need to extend religion and prayer to Ataturk, then it is necessary to question the statues of Ataturk and even secularism, starting from the Mausoleum. Let's not mix apples and oranges, let's greet Atatürk with a moment of silence, not prayer.

Uganda seems like it is eager to become the Iran or Russia of Africa. You can now get the death penalty for having gay sex in the country.
Uganda’s president, Yoweri Museveni, has signed into law the world’s harshest anti-LGBTQ+ bill, which allows the death penalty for homosexual acts.
The move immediately drew condemnation from many Ugandans as well as widespread international outrage. The UK government said it was appalled by the “deeply discriminatory” bill, which it said will “damage Uganda’s international reputation”.
US President Joe Biden decried the act as “shameful” and “tragic violation of universal human rights”. He said Washington was considering “sanctions and restriction of entry into the United States against anyone involved in serious human rights abuses” – a suggestion that Ugandan officials may face repercussions.
Early on Monday, the speaker of the Ugandan parliament, Anita Annet Among, released a statement on social media confirming Museveni had assented to the law first passed by MPs in March. It imposes the death penalty or life imprisonment for certain same-sex acts, up to 20 years in prison for “recruitment, promotion and funding” of same-sex “activities”, and anyone convicted of “attempted aggravated homosexuality” faces a 14-year sentence.
Described by the UN high commissioner for human rights, Volker Türk, as “shocking and discriminatory”, the bill was passed by all but two of 389 MPs on 21 March. Museveni had 30 days to either sign the legislation into law, return it to parliament for revisions or veto it. He sent it back to MPs in April, with a request for reconsideration. The bill would have still become law without the president’s assent if he returned it a second time.
Museveni has been in power for 37 years. Africa really needs to get serious about term limits for heads of government.
There has been strong condemnation of Museveni. A statement from the UN read: “We are appalled that the draconian and discriminatory anti-gay bill is now law. It is a recipe for systematic violations of the rights of LGBT people and the wider population. It conflicts with the constitution and international treaties and requires urgent judicial review.”
Ashwanee Budoo-Scholtz, Africa deputy director for Human Rights Watch, said: “Museveni’s signing of the anti-homosexuality bill is a serious blow to the right to freedom of expression and association in Uganda, where instead of being restricted they ought to be strengthened.
“The law is discriminatory and is a step in the wrong direction for the protection of human rights for all people in the region.”
Not to minimize any guilt from Museveni's kleptocratic régime, but American far right religious extremists have been trying to do abroad what they haven't managed in the United States. They found fertile ground in Uganda.
U.S. Christian groups spent $280m fighting LGBT+ rights, abortion overseas
Globalizing Hatred
Why is homophobia so strong in Uganda?
From the DW article...
Many of the American evangelists who came to Uganda in the 1990s still live there, says Stella Nyanzi, adding that they poison the discourse: "We have a number of churches where the senior pastor is an American. Pastor Martin Ssempa, one of the most vocal homophobes and one of the biggest mobilizers of the anti-gay movement is married to an American." Priests like Ssempa spread a lot of misinformation in society, she says.
[ ... ]
Church missionaries brought Christianity to the country during British colonial rule, which officially ended in 1962.
The condemnation of homosexuality as "un-African" is pursued with zeal on the African continent, especially in conservative Christian circles — although Christianity is, from a historic point of view, a Western import, too. "While Africans argued that homosexuality was a Western import, they in turn used a Western religion as the basis for their argument," Nigerian LGBTQ activist Bisi Alimi wrote in 2015 in Britain's The Guardian, adding that many people justify their homophobic views by saying that homosexuality is not in the Bible. There is a "real confusion about Africa's past," Alimi concludes.
Because our species originated in Africa, homosexuality existed in Africa before it did anywhere else. So are Museveni, Ssempa, and the other Ugandan hatemongers implying that they come from a different planet?
President Biden condemned the latest Ugandan hate law.
Statement from President Joe Biden on the Enactment of Uganda’s Anti-Homosexuality Act
Trump or DeSantis probably would have awarded Museveni a medal.

Mongolia vs Türks showing who’s in charge of the lands now*
(Khun Chuluu is a stone monument in the shape of a man, I think usually for memorials. There are many stone monuments erected by the Turkics bc they were the masters of the land for centuries before Mongolia rose to power)
*Certainly, in the medieval-before Mongol empire era not everyone is classified under Türks. This term was once reserved for the Göktürks and other Turkic speaking ppls like Uyghurs, Kyrgyz, Kerait and Naiman were once regarded as their own name without an umbrella name of Turkic. This umbrella grouping is a newer phenomenon (which doesn’t make it less valid as now ppl have their own needs (and agendas) for grouping the Turkic speakers together).

U.N. rights chief Volker Türk states, "There are a lot of conflicts in the world, and sometimes I have the impression that the situation here is being forgotten." There are 120 armed groups active in Eastern Congo and about 7 million displaced people. Many of the people are unable to receive aid and if aid is able to reach displaced population, it arrives slowly and in small quantities.
It is a reoccurring issue with the public and media highlighting certain human rights violations and neglecting others. In 2006, the world turned its attention to the Save Darfur movement, despite having overlooked other other conflicts. Currently, the Israeli-Palestinian conflict is captivating the attention of the world, while Sudan and the Congo are facing their own human right catastrophes that are largely being ignore. There are various factors contributing to the focus of certain conflicts over others. Ultimately, the public's attention and advocacy of these conflicts is beneficial for enacting change on a larger scale. With more media coverage and more organization, pressure is applied to officials that have the power to aid the people having their rights violated. If human rights are truly valued, all of these issues would be spotlighted.

Follow the Money: How Israel-Linked Billionaires Silenced US Campus Protests
May 23, 2024
Thousands of students face severe consequences for protesting Gaza violence. Alan Macleod investigates the powerful financial and ideological ties to Israel driving the harsh responses from America’s top universities.
"Why have overwhelmingly peaceful demonstrations against a foreign power’s actions been met with such a heavy-handed response? A MintPress News investigation finds that those same elite institutions have deep financial and ideological ties to the state of Israel, are funded by pro-Israel billionaires who have demanded they take action to crush the student movement, are partially funded by the Israeli government, and exist in a climate where Washington has made it clear that the protests should not be tolerated."
"The money has paid for research that directly benefits the Israeli military and helps them in their campaigns against the civilian population of Palestine. For example, one MIT project funded by Israel since 2022 is titled “Autonomous Robotic Swarms: Distributed Coordination and Perception.” According to Scientists Against Genocide, the research has helped the IDF carry out aerial drone bombings, surveil protestors, and drop tear gas on Palestinians. Israel is known to be developing flocks of small autonomous drone aircraft guided by artificial intelligence to locate targets, direct airstrikes and aid military advances.
Another project, “Planning and Sensing Algorithms for Underwater Persistent Monitoring,” has seen the Israeli Ministry of Defense give MIT $1.5 million to develop technology to help them police the Mediterranean Sea. Scientists Against Genocide have suggested that this has helped Israel enforce a naval blockade against Gaza, including targeting fishing ships to prevent Gazans from being able to feed themselves."
"The United Nations has warned that famine is imminent, and its high commissioner for human rights, Volker Türk, suggested Israel was carrying out a war crime by using starvation as a weapon."
"Despite the campus demonstrations being overwhelmingly peaceful, authorities have chosen to crack down harshly upon them, shredding the First Amendment in the process. Why have both universities and the government shown virtually zero tolerance towards those protesting against genocide? Firstly, because so many big-money university benefactors are themselves committed Zionists and have deep ties to the Israeli state.
This raises the question of whether these so-called charitable donations are so charitable in the first place. For one, America’s super-wealthy often receive tax write-offs for their contributions. Secondly, it gives them excessive power to control the directions of the institutions they are funding. Should wealthy individuals be able to dictate university policy for tens of thousands of people? Many would suggest that this is profoundly anti-democratic."
