heard your req about a swap au loud and clear >:3 maybe it was a mistake to give the au fiend More AUs to play with but i totally haven't been thinking about this nonstop recently (im lying. ive been thinking about this nonstop)

in case it wasn't clear from the image, the swaps are as follows

kai - skylor

jay - unagami

cole - morro

zane - cryptor

lloyd - harumi

nya - kalmaar

with bonus swaps of

wu - garmadon

pixal - mr e / echo (still haven't decided if i want mr e to be echo here)

since everything's all swapped around, it means that harumi is the daughter of wu (hehe haWUmi), and wu is the lord of darkness and master of destruction. misako stays where she is bc i couldn't think of anyone to swap her with gfkjdhfgkjh (and btw she has glasses bc i hc her to be albino and albino ppl tend to have poor vision, so i thought it'd be cute :) since i used to hc lloyd with glasses at some point i thought it would fit)

skylor's mom died recently, and she's been trying not to think about it by drowning herself in work at the noodle shop, where her dad chen is trying to get her to lighten up and not work so hard. she gets approached by garmadon to train with her mother's fire and she accepts. chen is a wonderful dad and i LOVE HIM

unagami (prefers gami) is a Gamer™️ and has two whole dads (milton dyer and okino). despite being tiny, permanently babyfaced, and a Gamer, he talks very politely and uses a lot of big words. okino raised him like that :) scott is the previous elem of lightning but i haven't decided where he is in the story yet, but i want him to be gami's uncle. also gami is a vtuber

morro was found as a kid rooting through garmadons trash, so ofc garm went "hm. i want this rat as my child" and adopts them dkjfghdfjh they got their earth power from their parent, who is still unknown to everyone. they're still just as emo bc they have an excuse to wear black at all times jdkfghkjdfg (morro also gets kai's jealousy arc and realization that the green ninja is to be protected, so they end up taking kai's role as the green ninja's older sibling, in this case rumi)

cryptor was built by cyrus borg in this au, but still deep in the forest where no one could find them. he was originally built to assist borg with household things but he started to see cryptor as his son as his ai developed. borg got kidnapped at some point, so cryptor is trying to find him. unknown if cry knows about being a nindroid at first or not, but he's prone to short circuiting due to how snappy he gets.

and kalmaar (sometimes called kali or mar depending on their mood) is the water ninja now! bc i thought it'd be absolutely hilarious to put this purple bitch boy in a hero's role dfkjghkjdhfg he got exiled from merlopia after his father and (adopted) brother disagreed with his human-loving notions, and decided that weakness wasn't tolerated. and because of Magic i guess, kalmaar is able to shift from his squid form to a more lego head-esque form (aka i did not want to draw a squid head. good lird). also i made him genderfluid bc i can

not rbing the post bc they're a minor and i'm not gonna be a hypocrite wrt "no minors" stuff... but i'd never heard the saying regarding how soulmates aren't found, they're made... and it's nice to know the definition of soulmate i've used for years actually has a basis in something ksjdnfkjnsdf. ;;; like i didnt NEED the validation but it's NICE to have.

if i ever use the term 'soulmate' it's that definition. no red strings of fate, no "first word on your wrist when you turn 18", none of that. soulmates should include having the agency to choose.

(rambling under the cut idk i just wanted to talk about ren's and my relationship and why i feel so comfy calling him a soulmate despite everything. we couldn't have worked OUT without putting the work IN, but once we do, it's Joever. i love him so much. i can't believe my brain made up a character who's so perfect for me in that he's NOT perfect but in the most complementary ways possible ughhhhh.)

wrt doc!ren, we absolutely Are Not Good For Each Other when we meet. two people internalizing everything and putting up walls and masks, obsessively people-pleasing vs doesn't-say-no-to-anything-to-keep-the-status-quo people-pleasing. he's very good at Playing A Finely Tuned Role and i'm just a fucking Brick Wall 7ft Deep, and it takes a lot of work for us to see that projected falsity in each other... see our similarities behind our differences... open up a bit... find more similarities...

he becomes ill, and we lean further on each other to help with our disabilities. when either of us reaches the "paranoia tells me this is going to end and i should pull back" point of the relationship, the other helps work through the source of their particular brand of paranoia.

just like... a series of "based on prev life experience, i have the exact emotional and physical skills needed to help you become a better person and reach your full potential" momence (tm).

even in r!ren's case, he still has things to work through wrt his anger towards his early life and his struggles to connect deeply with others, and in that story i'm closer to reality (in that i'm in my real life living situation and i'm not as self-assured or as self-sufficient), and that all leads to inconsistencies in what we both think the other person thinks about us. and it takes difficult work... walking through things... and in the end we become so healthy and so close! and we create a joint toolkit for solving interpersonal issues. it takes work, but we become the best people we can be with the other person, not expecting everything to simply work out in the end bc of magical soul bonds or w/e.

idk, the idea of "the perfect soulmate" is just so creepy to me. "they're trying to sell me something and i'm blackmailed by the universe into buying in" vibes..... hence why i love that one post of alice being like "if i'm approached by a perfect prince on a white horse, i'm gonna push him off the horse. eat shit." Why does tarkin pronounce Leias name so weird is it just because he’s British or is he trying to get a reaction out of her maybe what do you think?

doylist explanation: he's just british mixed with leia's name perhaps not yet having a super well-established pronunciation irl. i know that at least one or two random good guys in anh also pronounce her name like that so i think it's somewhat a mix of Accents and Weird Name.

watsonian explanation: he should know how to pronounce leia's name. he could very well be trying to get a rise out of her but idk if that's really in character for him (prince abubu momence....) maybe he's just stumbling over his words. twas an emotionally heated scene at its core.

this also applies to how a lot of the actors/characters (including peter/tarkin) pronounce alderaan weirdly as well.

an almost better question would be why carrie fisher did a british accent in only that scene, which i think has actually been explained away in canon once or twice lol.

-the nicest guy u will ever meet who has to solve every single problem with tremendous violence or he WILL die. also invented daddy issues btw and can bake well enough to win the country fair

-autistic icon whos literally just here for his bf, kind of just Some Guy but is everyones FAV Just Some Guy and has tremendous swag bc hes a Guy with Long Hair also. can do a perfect french braid
