Wisdom has procedures similar to those of a doctor examining a wound. As we look behind us to see where we stand in relation to ourselves and reality, we ask: 'How many mistakes have we made? Have we come to wisdom too late?'

I Have a Job!
I'm now realizing that this little medblr has been severely neglected during residency, but I'd rather neglect a blog than my mental health I guess. But hey I have a job! I'll be working at a private practice starting in September, doing family medicine (including pediatrics and gynecology), procedures, osteopathic medicine, and gender affirming care. I think it's a good fit for me and I like the idea of a salary rather than RVU based payment. I don't ever want to slip into thinking of my patients as money.

One of the solutions I’ve come up with, is to permanent dispose of the worst of them as quickly as possible, and redistribute their wealth to poor people who can pass some kind of responsibility test, a wealth management test, and an empathy test, along with educating them on starting and running successful businesses. I don’t think Luigi should be found guilty purely on procedural grounds, as law enforcement broke constitutional procedure, and their own internal procedural guidelines, on gathering evidence against him, and in his arrest. Letting him off the hook could possibly be a wake up call for lazy law enforcement to start doing proper and professional investigations, and making arrests that don’t violate human rights and the constitution. This way, there would be less debate and confusion in public discourse surrounding the arrest and prosecution of criminals, which would lighten the stress load on law enforcement, and make arrests and prosecutions more efficient, while gaining more public support for law enforcement. As it stands, most law enforcement are either dragging their feet in the execution of their duties, or are so gung ho in the execution of their duties, that they end up ignoring the majority of their actual duties, while likely regressing to a childhood fantasy related to their favorite action movie scenes, or other media influences, like the “down on his luck divorced alcoholic detective redeems himself through saving a damsel in distress using firearm related action-violence” Hollywood trope. In addition, many law enforcement personnel, especially those employed by Sheriff’s Departments these days, could use remedial courses in literacy, like reading, writing, and language comprehension. And most law enforcement personnel could benefit from courses in recognizing and eliminating biases, and the correct interpretation of the constitution, local laws, and internal procedural guidelines. This would benefit both law enforcement and the communities they serve. I’m not against law enforcement, I’m just against law enforcement violating the constitution, federal, state, and local laws, and ignoring internal procedural guidelines, as this destroys the trust between law enforcement and the communities they serve, making their jobs more difficult than necessary.

Can a teacher do a research for a student?
No.
A student can do a research for a teacher, and the teacher can supervise a task during a time when the student is doing the research.
Then, and only then, an order is correct.

I feel like I need to reiterate this, Americans, we do not EVER turn anyone in just for the reward money, because the reward money is a LIE!
There will be a reason they come up with for not giving it to you. Even Nancy, the snitch at McDonald's, who everyone in the world knows turned in Luigi Mangione, will not get a penny of the reward money. The reason she is getting is that she called 911 instead of the tip line.
But there are other reasons they give, like, the cops already had the info you gave them from "other sources". "Lots of other people" called in the same tip. The reward was "up to" the amount promised, so you're getting $1.50. You didn't do the proper paperwork before you gave the tip. And just about anything else you can think of.
They won't give any money out until the person is actually convicted, not just arrested. It could take years for a case to even get to court. If the suspect takes a plea deal, then did your info really lead to a "conviction"? Or by the time the suspect is convicted, suddenly the money is not there. Reward money? What reward money? It isn't like they have it sitting in a box waiting to hand it over to you after the conviction. No, after the conviction, now they need to try to find the amount they put up for the reward. And who's budget is that going to come out of? Who wants to put that money in your pocket instead of their own? Okay? Understand? Got it?
You never get the reward money!

This document discusses the opinion of the U.S. Court of Appeals in Abrego-Garcia v. United States, focusing on the issue of whether Miranda warnings were properly administered and whether the defendant’s Fifth Amendment rights were violated. The court explores the legal boundaries of custodial interrogation, the necessity of clearly informing suspects of their rights, and the implications of voluntary versus involuntary confessions. The decision sets an important precedent in understanding how constitutional protections apply during police interrogations and reinforces the standard that confessions obtained without proper Miranda warnings cannot be used against defendants in court.

oh so you thought existing only to perform a soulless office job was bad. how about existing only to go to the dentist. how about existing only in planes. how about existing only to perform stupid and repetitive yet socially expected tasks. how about existing only to withstand every unpleasant thing that somebody else decided to go without

Home help for the elderly: a detailed overview
Home help is an essential solution for enabling the elderly to maintain their independence in their familiar surroundings for as long as possible. In France, several schemes exist to facilitate access to these services and make them more affordable.
Tumblr media
Allocation Personnalisée d'Autonomie (APA)
- What is the APA?
This is the main form of financial assistance for people over 60 who are losing their independence. It pays for home services such as domestic help, assistance with washing, shopping, etc.
- How does it work?
The amount of the APA is calculated according to the degree of loss of autonomy and the person's resources. It is paid directly to the service provider.
- Services covered:
The APA can finance a wide range of services, including domestic help, assistance with personal hygiene, meal preparation and shopping.
- Who is eligible?
Any resident of France over the age of 60 with a loss of autonomy.
Mandated services
- What are they?
These are organizations that put elderly people in touch with home service providers.
They take care of the administrative formalities and monitor the service provided.
- Advantages:
They offer a wide choice of service providers, simplify administrative procedures and guarantee quality of service.
- How do I find them?
You can get information from your town hall, your local council or directly from the service providers.
Additional financial assistance
- Supplementary health insurance:
Some supplementary health insurance plans cover part of the cost of home help services.
- Tax relief:
Tax relief may be available for the cost of home care.
- Mutual insurance companies:
Some mutual insurance companies offer home help services at preferential rates.
Home improvements
To make it easier to stay at home, financial assistance is available to adapt homes to the needs of the elderly (installation of ramps, enlarged openings, etc.).
The main form of assistance is MaPrimeRénov'.
Support services
- Associations:
Many associations offer home support services, social activities and advice.
- Senior clubs:
These are places where you can meet other people and take part in activities.
How do I apply for home help?
Assess your needs:
Take stock of the help you need on a day-to-day basis.
Contact a social worker:
He or she can direct you to the services best suited to your situation.
Apply for APA:
If you are eligible, apply to your Conseil départementa
Choose a service provider:
Once your APA application has been accepted, you can choose the service provider that suits you best.
Further advice
- Don't hesitate to ask for help:
Administrative procedures can be complex.
Don't hesitate to ask a relative, social worker or specialized organization for help.
- Compare offers:
Many service providers offer home help. Take the time to compare services and rates.
- Adapt services to your needs:
Needs change over time. Don't hesitate to modify your assistance plan if necessary.
In short, there are many ways to help elderly people stay in their own homes. It's important to find out what's available, and to call on a professional to help you.
