IT IS FINALLY DONE! My most ambitious project yet, I was working on it on and off since December, done just in time! To celebrate Mermay, but also the Octavinelle chapters of Book 7 of Twisted Wonderland

Ienzo is based off of a bluebottle fish, aka the Man-O-War fish! This fish spends its juvenile years amidst the tentacles of the Portuguese Man-O-War, and is resistant but not immune to its toxin. I feel like this relationship really encapsulates his relationship with Xemnas.

There are 20 hidden mickeys- I mean, lucky emblems. 13 emblems of darkness, 7 emblems of light- you can find them all below the cut, along with a list of every single object in the image, and where it is from!

Also special thanks to @starlightwayfinder for pointing out the things that had me putting these pieces together in the first place. This is really just me building (a lot) on their initial idea lol

(Spoilers the ML Beta Test and the January ML Leak)

The leak in question.

(It's only kind of relevant but I figured I'd include it anyways.)

This leak reveals that it is possible, hell, even likely, that Destiny Islands will be in ML. Of course, this idea was already floating around with the whole nameless tropical-ish island in the beta tests, but this adds a whole other layer of proof for its inclusion.

With that note made, I'd like to point out some interesting things about Destiny Islands.

Destiny Islands seems to have a connection to the Realm of Darkness.

This is shown when Kairi's letter shows up on the Dark Margin (But hey... isn't it interesting that the Dark Margin looks the way it does in the first place? Not hard evidence by any means but definitely something to keep in mind).

2. The door in the Secret Place.

This is something that is specifically shown in the ML trailer even.

Everything is Connected.

3. It has knowledge of the outside worlds

This is because of Xehanort, of course, but keep it in mind. It'll be relevant later.

While I was talking to Starlight about the leak, she took a sidebar to talk about how excited she is to learn more about the Child of Destiny and the situation surrounding the prophecy.

I mentioned the fact that Destiny Islands was one of the worlds on the list, then they brought up this exchange from DR.

What an interesting thing to bring up and never mention again, huh? And Vor's "But why would anyone do that?" is so leading, you know? It really makes me wonder what might've been cut out of the game. Or... well... maybe this isn't just set up for Dark Road... maybe it's set up for something else.

Something in Missing Link.

We don't know whether or not the Child of Destiny prophecy is real. Or, let me rephrase that, we don't know if it was really written in the Book of Prophecies.

I would like to claim that it isn't, and my evidence for that is hidden in plain sight.

Sora is not seen in any of the worlds in KHUX.

Just to be thorough, the Disney worlds in UX (other than Wreak it Ralph) are future projections (according to the Book of Prophecies) of the worlds you are going to. Other than Olympus, they follow the plots of the movie decently loyally with some extra side quests thrown in.

And I understand that's like, "yeah, no kidding. They just didn't want to put him there because something something Player fills in his spot or they just wanted to follow the plot of the movies because it's easier or whatever", but a) this really would not be the first time (or the last time) Nomura would use the 'it's just a video game thing, its not that deep' to hide something in plain sight (Riku fusing with the dream eaters anybody?) and b) Cloud is there.

If they were just following the movies, why would Cloud be there? If Cloud is there in the future, then why isn't Sora? Or the Wayfinders for that matter?

The future written in the Book of Prophecies (at least at that point) does not include them and the Disney worlds different because of it.

(To address the rules of time travel, which kinda contradict the idea of being able to change the future, this isn't time travel. That is to say, the rules could be different. We don't know. Nomura hasn't told us.)

"Now that's cool and all, but how does that tie in to ML, and the Child of Destiny, and all that other stuff you were talking about earlier?"

Well, why does Sora leave the islands? Because of Riku. Why does Riku want to leave the islands? Because he wants to explore the outside worlds. Why does Riku know about the outside worlds? Because of, not only Terra, but Xehanort.

Why was Xehanort taken Destiny Islands in the first place?

If there was no Child of Destiny prophecy, Xehanort would never have left the islands because he wouldn't have even been there, and there would have been no light for Terra to follow to Destiny Islands to show Riku other worlds were real or give him a Keyblade.

And even if the world had fallen to darkness anyways, without a Keyblade, neither Sora nor Riku would've been able to travel between worlds.

But, obviously, that isn't how the games went. There is a Child of Destiny prophecy. So, if it didn't come from the Book of Prophecies then where did it come from?

Brain (and/or Player) could've made the Child of Destiny up as a ploy to try and change fate.

This may seem like it comes out of nowhere, but whether or not you can change the future that is written is something that Ava and Brain even talk about in KHUX.

Brain spends all of UX trying to change the future by not reading the Book of Prophecies. After that failed so spectacularly, who's to say he wouldn't try and take a more proactive approach this time.

So, remember all the way back, close to the beginning of the post when Starlight had brought up that scene from DR?

I think avoiding darkness prevailing and the light expiring might be a good reason.

We did it, we made it past all that build up and to the actual speculation/theory.

Brain (and/or Player) made up the Child of Destiny prophecy and, because the world was still reforming at the time, was able to will it into existence on Destiny Islands.

They tried to make it Xehanort (avoiding his fate as the prophesied Dark Seeker) by moving him there, but that didn't work. Despite everything, the real Child of Destiny (either Sora or Riku depending on your opinions) was born years later. Making the prophecy real, but not in a time Brain or Player would live to see.

There are probably loose threads in here so feel free to pick at them or add stuff to this or what have you. Might come back and add more later but I'm too tired to keep writing. What I put down was the gist.

For Ven, he definitely loves Double Crunch because that’s ’his’ flavor 🤭. I could also see him enjoying birthday cake with star shaped sprinkles! Anything over the top and cheerful. (He’d probably like the green flavors like mint chocolate chip too—but I’m too set in my ways of projecting onto him…and I don’t care for mint very much 😅 )

I think Strelitzia would like sherbet or lavender flavored ice cream! And the honey flavored ones too 😊 Sweet but elegant flavors 💐

Hm Xehanort…. I don’t think he’d be a huge ice cream fan 😂 If he has to get something, maybe a coffee flavor or dark chocolate. But definitely no sprinkles! 😠 🚫

So Sigma names his kids after letters of the greek alphabet, and that got me thinking about Kyle. While Luna is also basically his kid, she's somehow more complicated and her name ties more into being thematically relevant to VLR, so I'm ignoring her.

Anyway, Kyle's got an almost too normal sounding of a name, so I started thinking about how it sounds. Kyle, Ky-El. Chi-L. Yes that stupid sword from KH and Xehanort's whole speech about how some people pronounce X as key or chi. Written another way, Kyle's name could be written as XL. And what is Kyle but an eXtra Life for Sigma for the AB project.

HELLOO!!! sorry this took some time to answer, I completely forgot it was in my askbox.

to answer your question, I think most of my takes are pretty reasonable considering OBBVIOUSLY im Vanitas’ #1 fan, So Ill just share some of my fave hcs. :3

First of all, my favorite and biggest Vanitas headcanon is that vanitas is borderline. its just a headcanon, but I think its a pretty reasonable one if you look at his behaviors in the game and especially the bbs novel!

Another headcanon I loooveee is that Vanitas is a big texture person. he likes soft things because he wasnt able to experience feelings like that. I like to think he sleeps on a nest of blankets and pillows and whatnot and it is a MESS. he also collects plushies SORRY its canon.

This is moreso projection but Vanitas having like. vitamin deficiencies would be pretty funny and make sense like, xehanort was NOT feeding him that boy sees colors when he stands up. 😭

Anyway final two headcanons are that vanitas is autistic and he likes crafts and drawing Im very obviously correct and these are all true.

anyways i adore your au/idea about terra seeing ghosts of the khdr characters from the hc post!! i really like scenarios that allow characters to interact who would never interact otherwise!!!!!! also i just love when terra's whole precog/visions thing is addressed it's sooo interesting to me i wish it came up more often in canon. also hell yeah aroace terra hc (projecting)

Hi!!!! Thank you for your ask!!! Sorry to keep this in my hoard for so long 😅 I am so happy to be a Terra thought repository <3 I'm writing this with a Terra plushie and at least two wayfinder charms in my near vicinity, lol.

You are absolutely correct, I believe the shattering Terra experienced was deeply traumatic. I mean, his three basic components of personhood were split apart! Combined with his pre-existing self esteem issues, it's not a great time. However, I also think his time in contact with Eraqus' heart was healing for both of them. They had a lot of time to talk and understand each other. So he's not in as bad of shape as he could be? Definitely should still visit a therapist, though!

I'm glad you enjoy the ghost au!! I also love unlikely character interactions, that's honestly a driving force here lol. I just think the Dark Road kids are neat and should be around more <3 And I think they'd like the Wayfinders a lot!!!! I imagine Vor and Terra being "workout" buddies, and Urd and Aqua comparing magic strategies, and Hermod helping Ven with homework :3 They could be friends!!! Not that Ven and Aqua can usually see the DR kids, but hey, Terra can play messenger.

When the DR kids are around, they look mostly like normal people, just slightly transparent and with a glowing golden outline. Y'know, like the other Hearts we've seen, just only visible to Terra. In extreme distress, their death wounds appear. Which are mostly varying sword wounds, but Hermod and Urd's leak Darkness from the corridor. Vor's is sort of scabbed over from Eraqus and Xehanort trying to save her. Bragi, when he rarely appears, has thick bruises on his neck (shoutout to No Vacancy by Rosie-Kairi!). Luxu picking up Braig sorta set his heart free, and he followed Xehanort to the LoD where the others were. However, his heart is in poor condition as a result of the trauma of the Snatching, so he doesn't show up as often. Terra is a good shoulder to lean on when he does. The thought of someone around Ven's age going through what he did makes Terra kind of sick.

Seeing ghosts is at first… a bit of a shock. In a way, Terra hadn't really come to terms with the fact that he'd DIED until then. Like yeah, it was really bad, but he sort of had to grapple with it not only being death, but a very bad kind of death. A fate almost worse than death. He was denied the peace of a true death and forced to remain in the world, shattered and bound. Being confronted with fellow spirits makes him face that. He was LUCKY it was even possible to put him back together. If even one component had been missing or had moved on, that would've been it. That's a terrifying reality to confront.

When that's past, it really becomes something of a new normal surprisingly quickly. Terra is a man of routine, sure, but the DR kids wiggle their way into it the same way Ven did when he first arrived. Aqua and Ven get used to walking in on Terra seemingly talking to thin air. Academics aren't his strongest suit (Aqua has always been the scholar between the three of them) but he tries his best to teach them updated science and history and the like. Aqua helps with the lesson plans! It's just hard for her to teach people she can't see. At some point they take a field trip to Radiant Garden to learn about computers and the internet (a lesson the Wayfinders are also in dire need of. Ienzo is a good teacher though!)

While in Radiant Garden they do try to study the DR crew's hearts, just trying to scan them- like a check-up! Well, Urd, Hermod, and Vor at least- Bragi is adamant his heart's been through enough, thank you very much. He doesn't admit it, but he hates being in Radiant Garden- too many bad memories. He sticks around to get the lecture on computers and dips.

As for the others, scanning their hearts is a bit trickier than anyone really anticipated. They're not tangible beings, so there's nothing to stick a sensor to or anything. They have to improvise a little! I'm imagining a tool somewhat like a metal detector wand or an Among Us Medbay Scanner. For added visual effect I think they sort of ripple into existence starting from the point where the scanner is, as transparent golden figures. Nothing new on Terra's end, but it lets everyone else see what he's been seeing the whole time! I think it'd be really magical in that moment, to be seen. Not just by one person (though Terra is lovely and tries very hard to help however he can) but to be seen by a whole room of people, for the first time since you died. The long quiet of death can get lonely, even with your fellow spirits beside you. You almost feel alive again, smiling and laughing and making eye contact with every person there, and knowing they are looking at YOU.

It's nice to be seen, is what I'm saying. And Terra helps them feel seen for the first time in a long time. That's the crux of the matter. Terra has been the invisible, the tethered, the ghost. And nobody sees the invisible like those who have been invisible themselves.

Also Baldr isn't here because he went straight to Kingdom Hearts to be with Hoder! And even if he was around he wouldn't love hanging out with the people he murdered, and they wouldn't love having him around either.

So, in the Kingdom Hearts Series Memorial Ultimania, aka the only Ultimania book that was actually translated and released in English, there is a flow chart detailing Xehanort's stupid retcon of a "master plan" and actions across time through all of his primary incarnations.

And this part caught my eye:

Did you get that? Let me type it if you can't make it out:

"Young Xehanort follows the path he* had been on previously, which he knows about from seeing Sora fall into the abyss of sleep. All of Xehanort's other selves share this awareness. Ansem, Seeker of Darkness and Xemnas end up unknowingly gathering the components for the X-Blade that Master Xehanort seeks: the Seven Lights and the Thirteen Darknesses."

*"He" meaning Master Xehanort, as this is under his section.

.........What!?

OK, for years now I have been under the impression that what DDD put forward was that, as nonsensical as it was, Ansem was collecting the Seven Princesses of Heart and Xemnas the Thirteen Darknesses knowing full well that it was for the sake of forging the X-Blade. But apparently they didn't? They were only subconsciously doing it because it was "etched"?

On the one hand, that is a little better in that it means they aren't actually minions of someone else during their stories. But on the other hand, that's even stupider, for three reasons.

-1. This whole "etched" thing brought about by time travel really does fuck with a character's agency and give the illusion of free will. Someone will do something thinking it's clearly for their own goals or are reacting to the current situation they're in, but akshually it's because they subconsciously know they have to do it so that the future they're subconsciously aware of through time travel can happen. That's so lame and it makes the character less interesting.

-2. There's a huge contradiction here with Ansem: him not knowing the Seven Princesses were needed for the X-Blade and just wanting them for the Final Keyhole would make perfect sense as he's presented in KH1, but 3D went and established he remembered his Master Xehanort past and time-traveled to provide time travel power to Young Xehanort and marked a time-traveling Sora with an "X" so that the current story could happen leading to Master Xehanort's revival and master plan reveal. So that means he should be aware of the X-Blade legend and the significance of the Seven Lights to it! His actions still don't add up, then!

-3. So Xemnas didn't know about the X-Blade plan, and yet 3D still says his stated goal was to turn the Organization into vessels for Xehanort's heart which is why he "lied" about Nobodies not having hearts. Why do that!? If Xemnas wasn't seeking the X-Blade, then why the fuck would he feel the need to turn the Organization into vessels? Why them specifically, since if he became a god to reshape the universe he'd basically be able to do that to everyone? And the subconscious explanation isn't good enough since I refuse to believe Xemnas wouldn't think about the reasonings behind his intentions, plus that goddamn scene had him talking as if he always knew. The replica project I could totally see being a subconscious time travel-related thing, but not specifically creating thirteen Xehanorts.

It's amazing - there really is no way to make this plotline work. Square peg, round hole.
