The 18th (?!?!?) annual Project for Awesome starts today at noon eastern time, but we've already raised over $500,000 for charities like Save the Children and Partners in Health.

Do you currently use or have you used Scarleteen for yourself as a young person, as a peer or adult educator, healthcare provider or other supportive adult, as a parent or guardian or in some other capacity? Are you comfortable being on video? Scarleteen plans to submit a video for Project For Awesome in 2025 and we’re asking you, the people Scarleteen has actually helped, for your help and participation in the video! Project For Awesome is an annual fundraising initiative that was started in 2007 by Hank and John Green, AKA the Vlogbrothers. During Project for Awesome, a plethora of organizations and individuals post videos advocating for causes that “decrease the overall level of world suck.” During P4A, these videos are shared widely; and over the course of a 48-hour livestream, a great deal of money is raised for the most popular causes. As an organization that has been working diligently to decrease the overall level of world suck for over 25 years, and has done so for millions upon millions of people all around the world, and who also is and has always been deeply underfunded, we feel like Project for Awesome is just the right place for us. Our goal with our video is to communicate the awesomeness of Scarleteen through your stories and your voices. We're asking you to capture yourself on video talking about your experience with Scarleteen so we can hear from you in your own words. Your personal experiences with Scarleteen will help us demonstrate that our work is vital, life-changing, has long decreased and continues to decrease the overall level of world suck, and in their words, is awesome.

Hey y'all, it's P4A time!

The Project for Awesome (or P4A) is an annual event where we raise awareness of charities that make the world a little bit of a better place and we raise money to redistribute to charities voted on by our community. Legally speaking, the Project for Awesome is a project of the Foundation to Decrease World Suck (or FTDWS), a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. The FTDWS exists to fundraise for the benefit of other nonprofits and only awards grants to organizations that are 501(c)(3) or foreign equivalent classified charities. The nine board members are John Green, Hank Green, Mike Green, Marie Ann Fernandez-Silva, Valerie Barr, Taylor Behnke, Benny Fine, Rosianna Halse Rojas, and Angela Lin. In 2024, we raised a grand total of $3,530,889.25, including several generous matching donations. 50% of donations went to Save the Children and Partners in Health, and 50% of donations were split between 30 charities chosen by the Project for Awesome community.
