Hi everyone !

First of all, merry christmas and happy new year ! Now that’s done, let’s animate.

So, on the last Wakfu add-on, I was lucky enough to be in charge of a character, from the build to all his final animations. I will progessively update all of those here, but this character is pretty special to me because I gave myself the challenge to animate it all in one week (which represent one GIF (front/back) per day). This was a significant challenge to me, I was 100% committed to it and, most important of all, it was a lot of fun !

Here's one of tests I worked on during my self study weeks. I wanted to explore puppet animation further with a design of my own, and try compositing on live action footage. It's been a fun learning experience, wish to do something similar soon again! Rigging and puppet animation done with @toonboomanimation, compositing with @adobe_aftereffects. Finally went to see the Laika exhibit at the Portland Art Museum. Blew my mind. I basically went around gawping with my mouth open and my eyes bugging out. Exquisite detail, beautiful art and dazzling sets. Can’t praise this exhibit enough. My personal favourite was all the Kubo props and characters and the huge Coraline garden set. Hello tumblr friends!

This here is the animation I created in order to graduate college in 2005.  SO IT IS OLD... and I should probably put it to rest, but I never sent it off to festivals and would like to hear what a larger group of people think of it.  WARNING: Its pretty creepy.  Some parts are just so extreme, for instance I can't help but laugh at the ending.  It was created in a very straight ahead fashion.  A lot of the animation was on the fly under camera experimentation.  And nearly all of the story was created on the fly.  That being said everything in it still has meaning (at least to my little gray cells).  The shortest explanation I can give is that it is a dreamlike exploration of what it is to grapple with OCD and religion.  Both claim to be a means to an end, but often they act merely as obsessions that manipulate their host into ritualistic submission.  Understanding where you diverge from your beliefs is so important to becoming... anything.   I apologize for this long winded explanation.  If you have any questions Please ask me ^__^  I might post them to my tumblr too.   I hope you all find some enjoyment in this.
