So in my current search for employment(🤢) I came across a job listing that was...odd?

For one it was a kids' mental health organisation that I've never heard of before and its name started off with "Daddy's" which okay fine, the Internet hasn't ruined that word for everyone

It advertises itself as a school, care center, therapy center for neurodivergent kids that has parental training, assessments etc etc that has apparently being active for 15yrs and worked with professionals from other countries - which is all a BIG thing here but I have never heard of this place and it would take me about 10min to get there in a car? and it's very much within my field, so why the fuck haven't I at least heard my previous lecturers or supervisors talk about it? Hell it didn't even come up when we were going through possible places for internships

The job was for a relatively important position but the listing mentioned nothing about the qualifications or requirements expected. It just says there'll be a 3month training period (usual training periods are on average about 6months) and you have to sign a 2yr contract. I've seen jobs with smaller positions that asked for much more qualifications upfront

And the actual weird thing; according to google they've been permanently closed for years

Let it be known I first got turned down from childcare college because I (stupidly) disclosed my disability during the interview, and it immediately turned into ableist assumptions, mostly stemming from "well what if you have to lift a child?"

Today not only do I LOVE working in the field, but I've realised children are light as fuck, and I too, cannot resist the allure of uppies

To say, as a straight person, that a queer character's queerness is out of the blue or unrealistic is to claim that they understand the queer experience to be able to identify inaccurate representation of it.

so, my brother in law's boss has a 15 y/o snake that they wanted to get rid of (for reasons that aren't their fault), so I said I'd take her, and she's gonna go to the vets & in around 2 weeks I'll fully find out if she can come live w me bc it entirely depends if she's okay to travel the distance.

specifically the post i’m annoyed by is by a big blog that will remain unnamed (general big blog, not language sphere big blog…i think. unless my judgement of this person’s online activity is entirely off) and insists that if you “just turn on the [language] subs rather than english subs” you’ll…somehow magically begin to understand (presumably at least intermediate conversational) dialogue in shows? which, i think comprehensible input can be a great tool but…that’s not CI. you’re just advising people to do something that will have little to no payoff unless they’re already familiar with the language’s basics (at least!)(the post was specifically aimed at beginning learners with no/little familiarity, though!) and which will probably leave them frustrated and demoralised…i don’t mean to gatekeep but i think sometimes maybe people shouldn’t confidently claim xyz method is the One True Secret Solution. especially if they have, quite literally, no sources to back them up besides (to quote the internet) “source: trust me bro”.
