Summary: a date with hotaru.

Your eyes met his, and he didn't look away. You weren't sure where you were at, and he stayed in his spot, not moving. You continued walking, unsure of if you could approach him or not. He didn't seem very friendly. When night came, you started to make your way back to where you saw the guy at. You didn't see anyone else around here. You were going to try to talk to him.

"You shouldn't be out here. There's a curfew." A voice said behind you. You turned to look at him. It was the man from before.

"I'm sorry, I'm not from here."

He looked around before looking back at you.

"I'm Hotaru. Come with me, and I'll get you out of here."

"Where are we going?" You asked as you followed after him.

"You're in Seido." He stopped and looked at you. "I can either take you to my house or you need to leave the realm. If you're caught being here, you'll be arrested."

"I didn't know, though."

"It doesn't matter. That's why I need to get you out of here as soon as I can. Otherwise, you'll be arrested, and so will I for helping a criminal." He continued walking, and you followed quickly after him. It wasn't like him to help criminals. He didn't know what came over him. He should have taken you to jail, just as he did with anyone else who wound up here. Instead, he was looking around, making sure no one was coming and making sure no one spotted you together. Normally, he was quick to capture and punish the criminals. He was the leader of the Seidan Guard.

He was quick to take you to the portal in the middle of town.

"Safe travels." He said as he looked at you.

"It was nice meeting you. I'm Y/N."

"Hotaru."

You turned, and you left, hoping one day you could see him again. You came back a few days later. The first place you stopped was the town hall to read and learn the laws of Seido. You didn't want to wind up committing another crime. The laws were very strict, and you had to try your best to follow them.

When Hotaru saw you again, he looked surprised.

"What are you doing here?"

"I wanted to learn the laws here and possibly see you again." You said as you smiled at him.

He looked away, the feeling returning again, before he looked at you.

"Please try not to commit another crime. I can't talk now. I'm working. I'm the lead guardsmen here."

"When will you be off work?"

"Seven in the morning." He often worked the night shift.

You left before the night came and returned day by day. Hotaru never had a day off of work, so this was the closest to a date you could get. He had never heard of taking a day off. He never had any reason to. Some of the other guardsmen took time off here and there. He switched a day with them so he could take you on a proper date. It did bother him that the world could fall apart without him there and the fact that he was not behaving like his normal self. He didn't understand what was wrong with him. However, he continued to act as his somewhat normal self, and you never thought anything was different about him. He took you to the best restaurant that he knew in Redtown, and when the date was finished, he walked you around Redtown before walking you to the portal. Redtown was the town where he was born, and he knew it better than any of the other towns, despite Seido being a small realm.

He stopped at the portal and looked at you.

"It was nice, finally having a date with you. I am sorry for my busy schedule." He said as he gave a small smile.

"It's alright, I enjoyed our date, and hopefully, we can go on another one sometime?"

"I'd like that."

eido is divided into various towns decided by color, such as Bluetown, Greentown, Redtown and Goldtown. This does not merely apply to the road itself, but also to houses and huts in the area as well. Seido is also home to gemstones, such as the Green Gems, Gold Nuggets, Fire Opals, and Winterstones. Each gem shares the same color of the town they are located and vary in value and rarity. Because of Seido's strict policies, the realm is often at war.

So, these folks are from Eileithyia's side of family she rarely, if at all, talks about.

But I will talk about them, and it will take long. Yeyy~

Phandora was Eileithyia's grandmother from her mother's side. And she was a council member. She'd died during a riot protest that first ever had accounted deaths in Seido history as a protest against the laws of Orderrealm. While she wasn't always a prime example of a parent - her daughter's twin brother died during birth and she didn't bat an eye about it - she always had weaknesses for 'strays' and Shira had been one of them. Many of times she opened her doors for people on the streets when she had the time, but other than that the High Counil was something she breathed for. Always was very goal and ambition coded. Her abilities were unknown yet everyone was quite afraid of her when in her presence.

Neith was Eileithyia's mother, and yes she originally lived in Goldtown, later changed districts to Redtown after her marriage. Since young age she'd been neglected by her mother, seldomn starting abandonment issues. She'd... been around all sorts of people growing up, some were nice, some were not. However, that way she grew up picking people she wanted to talk with because she was good at reading people at a first glance, and was not afraid to hold back from attacking someone if she 'whiffed' something unpleasant about them — that way she earned the title of being called a lunatic, and while Phandora lived she'd been able to be pardoned by her public, chaotic freak-outs. Her one and only ability is regeneration, similar to Havik's, and it's hereditary by 2%. Neith's darkest secret is that she'd indulged herself in cannibalism, and only her husband knew of it.

Blaze is Eileithyia's father, he grew up with his twin cousins and uncle and currently still lives in Redtown. His family's line are highly valued scholars in Seido, and he is a very skilled Blood-manipulator Sorcerer. Unlike his family, Blaze was never goody-two-shoes, to everyone he was just an angry and arrogant person. Blaze never liked the Seido's laws but the moment his one and only friend had died because of breaking a rule he became very spiteful and hateful; that was the start of his secondary identity as part of the first ever Anarchists.

Razor is Eileithyia's older brother. He used to be a trouble-maker and very care-free until reaching his youth, adulthood sourened and bittered him greatly. Thanks to his father and the family he was born in, he was able to focus on his powers as his main study, becoming one of the few Shadow Sorcerers. Razor actually had a hard time making friends, given who are his parents, but his only two best friends were his little sister and a girl named Violet; sadly, he earned some of those scars from Eileithyia herself. He grows up to be VERY protective of his family, he really isn't afraid to kill anybody much like his mother.

Blaze and Neith meet at a riot, because they and a few others were the very first Anarchists that tried to flip the order upside down because of some ridiculous laws. (Although, to be honest here, I think Neith did it for fun..)

And when things develop, and they decide to start a family they leave the Anarchists to settle down and brush it all under the rug. At first, it all seemed okay and lovely-dovely... eventually the law caught up to them, perhaps someone from the Anarchists threw them under the bus, that is still a possibility.

To save their family, Neith takes all the criminal offenses on herself, especially since she hadn't watched her reputation before the riots like Blaze has, she's known as a lunatic and her mother wasn't around anymore to get them out of that mess. She's the one who gets punished by public execution that everyone had to come witness, and as a warning to the Anarchists in hiding, after that they leave Blaze and their children alone.

Blaze in his grief and heartbreak became heavily depressed, he was barely there for his kids. It left Razor and Eileithyia to fend for themselves but eventually were cared for by some of Blaze's old comrades.

Eventually, once adults, Eileithyia left her family and Seido the first chance she'd got. Razor was there for his father long after before he too left Seido or actually went missing like Blaze is believing, he could also be dead since no one had seen him anywere in years...

This family name's Bloodmoon. Shira and her twin children will be helping with plot points, but they will have their little stories I wanna tell, too.

<3: (yeah, it's just a random word or letter. it's been "soup" a couple times, but like sometimes it's "arrow", sometimes it's just "a", i've seen stuff like "cedar" and "cosmo" too, etc etc)

Ralsei: And whenever the word changes... that changes what the Rudinn calls this town? Like... it'll be "ARROWTown" sometimes?

The Dreadful Tale of Prosper Redding by Alexandra Bracken Review

First off I want to say I also listened to the audiobook along with reading it. The Audiobook is fantastic so if you prefer that I would highly recommend it.

Prosperity Redding is from a family that is famous in Redtown. Named after his family and he seems to be the only one who is not successful.

Prosper and Alastor have a fantastic kinship and their relationship grew interesting. I'll be honest this novel surprised me. I didn't expect it to have such great relationships, and the plot hooks were good as well! The Lore is simple but interesting.

Bracken gives us a great story and beloved characters. She left us with questions and I am happy they get answered in the sequel.
