My grandfather died this morning. I’m insanely lucky to be almost 40 and to have had him in my life for all these years.

My grandfather was a powerhouse of a man. Alpha as the day is long. Tough as nails all the way until the end. He was the closest thing to a father I’ve known. He took us in each time mom left another husband.

He was the safety I thought of when I was in the worst places. He held me while I cried so many times. Even when I was grown.

I’m going to miss him terribly.

Everyone jokes about zhongli being a grandpa, but actually, he reminds me so much of my grandpa who passed away back in 2022.

One similarity that sticks out the most to me is how zhongli established/built Liyue and my grandpa used to have an asphalt/concrete business that helped build a lot of homes, roads, and businesses in my home town and they're still standing to this day.

So my great aunt told me that my grandfather who passed last July entered a burning building and saved a woman’s life in his younger years…I’m not bragging or trying to make him out to be this amazing man, but that’s some cool family lore I get to tell my future kids. Better than telling them about the moonshiners and legal (yes, I wrote that right) alcohol distillers 😂.
