Random Set of a Day: 1787
1787 Crater Cruiser
Tumblr media
Crater Cruiser has been on my mind because I just tried building it. I have the shape down, but some of the parts are the wrong colour (especially the medium-sized wheels, which I only have in yellow). My brother had this set in our childhood, the largest Space set we knew personally until our childhoods had passed. The two figs* were the origin of a couple characters I would steal years later for my stories: Admiral Unitron and Lt.-Commander Under.
The nostalgia is still there and I suspect the set will improve with black wheels (which are coming), but the design is weaker than I remembered. The diminishing wheel sizes are cool from this one angle, but look a bit weird from the front. I like the Uniton-styled mini-spaceships, but they honestly are rather primitive builds. Unitron's look is wicked cool, but if you didn't come in already loving them, I doubt this set would convince you.
Year Released: 1995 I Acquired: Never Origin of Fig(s): None of mine* (contains a captain & a standard fig)
Parts Score: 3 out of 5 (some great 90s Space parts, but nothing too special) Playability Score: 3.5 out of 5 (swooshable spaceship!) Minifigure Score: 3.5 out of 5 Design Score: 2.5 out of 5 Personal Favouritism Score: 4 out of 5
Android Files Notes: Now that we've (finally) reached the Castle realms, the Space sets of my childhood have some of the biggest lacunae in what we've seen--on the good guy side anyway, since the Spyrius and UFOs clearly haven't been lacking. We've seen a lot of Futuron, and Benny, and the 1992 Space Police (all part of my Colorian Dominion), but those were all sets from after my childhood. In addition to the Spyrius and UFOs, when I say "my childhood," I mean Iceplanet, Unitron, Exploriens, and Roboforce. We've had a couple figs, but no real sets. Someday, perhaps, we'll address this.

So it's clear a lot of the "I'd even vote for Hitler" Democrats are trying to impress upon us the urgency of the situation, like "things are so dire I'd even resort to this!"
And of course one major problem with this tactic is that you're assuming we'll be like "wow, you'd overcome your obviously strong principles" but like.
You haven't established you even have those principles. You've just told us that you'd collaborate with Nazis and like, yeah, that is famously something many liberals have been okay with doing.

Note
you really need to raise your standards for what's considered "a phrase" because if it only makes sense in the specific context of the post it was originally found in and it isn't repeatable in other situations, that's not a phrase that has entered the lexicon, that's just something someone said one time.
i started this thing last week i need all the posts i can handle
What doesn't alter your vocabulary may alter, or may have already altered, someone else's. This is not about adding to The General Lexicon - I have an entire tag for things that change this site as a whole, which has a higher bar; this is largely about novelty and humor. This is us curb-stomping whatever the fuck we want into the right form for our needs, whatever those needs may be, including altering aspects of the phrase to fit the necessary format or context. It's a linguistic shotgun.
its my fuckin blog bitch ill shit where i want

Always Favors You
Another Sibling Danny and Jason idea!!
"Are you Jason Peter Todd?!" demanded a deep and commanding tone from the strange glowing being in front of them.
All the Bats stiffened and tensed, no doubt gearing up for a fight against the being that somehow knew Red Hood's full name.
Jason, Red Hood, decided to put on a brave front despite no doubt cursing in his head and wondering how the heck did this thing know his full freaking name.
"Whose asking." he snarled out, his hands twitching for his gun when the huge glowing knight with purple flames coming out of his helmet and cape, who was riding on a nightmare looking horse while they all had been in the cave going over tonight's patrol.
The Knight didn't seemed bothered by his response nor did he even seem to care or flinch when Batman made his own demand on 'Why was he there and who was he' or when Damian unsheathed his sword and pointed it towards him. Instead the strange glowing Knight reached to it side and pulled out... A glowing scroll? Huh. (Also he completely unnerved everyone in the room when the Knight didn't even react when Batman had tossed a Baterang when he reached for his side)
The Knight opened the scroll and spoke clearly with purpose.
"Jason Peter Todd,
You are hereby invited as a special guest of honor to the crowning of our future King of the Infinite Realms.
Daniel Phantom, once Daniel Jackson Fenton, and once Daniel Austen Todd.
Prince of the Infinite Realms, the Keeper of Balance, The Peacekeeping Halfa, the Defeater of the Tyrant King Pariah Dark, The Great One, Youngest of the Ancients, Ancient of Space, The Bridge between Life and Death.
You, the half-brother of our King, have been given the highest of honors for your past actions and will be given housing and food in the Realms and Phantom's Keep, for the week long event. Personal servants and attendants will be at your disposal and a seamstress will be on hand to tailor make your attire for the Coronation.
Signed: Clockwork. Ancient of Time. Watcher of the Infinite Timeline. Kronos. Mentor and Adviser.
PS: I shall have Fright Knight ("Me" the Knight bluntly said for a second) leave this scroll along with a personal one for you from Daniel to read over and once you make up your mind sign the bottom of the scroll.
I do hope in time you will pick the right choice Jason Todd, we of the Infinite Realms would like to reward you for your actions. After all, if you hadn't gotten young Daniel away from your father that night all those years ago, we would never had gained our Prince nor be free from our once Tyrant King.
Ah, one more thing.
The Infinite Realms will always favor you Jason."
Jason felt like he couldn't breath as Fright Knight? Rolled up the scroll, pulled a letter from his side, and held out the two items for him to take.

I feel like I've complained about Tim's email situation in Gotham Knights before (edit: I have), but the truth of it is just so funny.
He's signed up for so many podcasts, video game streamers, and random news alerts; it's just a constant barrage of data going straight into his constantly whirring brain. Hell, he even floats the idea of the Batfamily having their own podcast as a way to correct misinformation about them (which Jason shoots down instantly), and it's made me realize something.
Timothy Drake would be a YouTuber.
In this universe specifically, Timothy Jackson Drake, the heir to Drake Industries and the foster son of the late Bruce Wayne would be a YouTuber.
Think about it. It'd be the perfect cover. Who would ever suspect that some 16-year-old nepo baby with a YouTube channel could ever be Red Robin? You'd have to be mad. I mean, look at him.
Red Robin just dropped out of literal thin air and garotted someone four times his size, and you expect anyone to believe that's the same kid who does 24-hour Minecraft charity streams and occasionally drops 6-hour video essays (his last one was on Lex Luthor's illegal bit mining operation on the moon)?
That kid?
You think that kid is Red Robin?
Ch'yah, okay, sure. And the Joker is funny 🤡.

Random Set of a Day: 6103
6103 Castle Minifigures
Tumblr media
I didn't own this set until deep in my adult years and I only recently made sure to verify I have all the parts and assemble them together, but 6103 Castle Minifigures lurks deep in my LEGO memories. My best friend growing up only had a couple LEGO sets--and this was the one he had that I didn't. Together with mostly forgotten memories of a since-lost 1992 catalogue from one of my earliest sets, it was the main source of knowledge for the existence of Forestmen, and it was a window on a dimly-known era of Lions and Black Falcons (though that was augmented by owning 6081 King's Mountain Fortress and seeing 6057 Sea Serpent and 6059 Knight's Stronghold in the 1993 catalogue I didn't lose).
As such, this set had a tactile importance to my memory in the pre-Internet era that made both the 1996 Dark Forest sets and the 2001-2002 Legends releases extra-exciting. With this trio of factions in one set, this is--in a very specific sense--the forerunner of Lion Knights' Castle.
My copy of the set was not all received at once, but was assembled from a few different sources, but most of five figs came in one go: a used lot that also included a nearly-complete 6066 Camouflaged Outpost.
Year Released: 1988 I Acquired: December 6th, 2017 Origin of Fig(s): No named characters (contains 2 Black Falcons, 2 Forestmen, 1 Lion soldier, 1 peasant)
Parts Score: 3.5 out of 5 (factoring in its purpose as a fig battle pack--there isn't a single "building" piece in the set) Playability Score: 3 out of 5 (some great fig diversity, but no locations or vehicles) Minifigure Score: 4.5 out of 5 Design Score: 3 out of 5 Personal Favouritism Score: 4.5 out of 5
Android Files Notes: There's definitely potential to see each of these guys now that we've hit the Castle realms, but insofar I never owned the set in childhood, none of these smiley-faced figs has a "character" likely to make them prominent. There's an argument to be made that the all-green Forestman was meant to be Robin Hood himself (i.e. the leader of the Forestmen), but even if we give that credence, I have the same fig with Camouflaged Outpost--where he has a horse--so there's no guarantee this one need appear.
