Week Six - Email

The next step in our group assignment was to reach out to our chosen interviewee, Kai Brach. Sarah Tran was our initial contact with Brach, and our group collaborated to write the email. We swiftly briefed Kai about who we are, requested an interview and inquired about a date and time.

This gif shows the date of our first email, April 24th 2024, along with the recipient ‘To: Kai Brach’, the sender ‘From: SSG Publishing’, and the ‘Subject: ‘Interview Request’.

We can also see words slowly begin to be typed out in a spiral formation, which reads: “Hi Kai, We are a group of Communication Design Students at RMIT. We have been tasked with interviewing someone from the publishing industry, and we are interested in asking about your experience in this field”.

The spiral symbolises the process of refinement made whilst we developed this email, making sure our message was clear and professional sounding.

Do people who passed away have their own way or style of reaching out to people they love? Because if they do, my father did his very best and I just wanna acknowledge that and thank him wholeheartedly for his way or his style of reaching out to me.

It's like a closure I was longing to hear. And it was sooooooo meaningful to me because with his way of reaching out to me in my dream speaks how he's aware of what I love.

I love listening to music. Watching people sing. Watching shows that honor people who were mistreated.

The dream was about a TV show wherein there was this father singing with his son/daughter on his lap and on the small stage was the father's mom dancing to that song.

The song's lyrics were about promises to his mom to give his son/daughter the things that his father was not able to give him. To do the things he never experienced from his father when he was young. Then, I woke up CRYING SO HARD!

Idk if my father acknowledged that fact that somehow I felt neglected and now he's telling me that he sees me and he's accepting me. Long before, I admit that I once felt like people would see being a music lover and TV SHOW lover as GAY. That's why I am confident that it was my father reaching out to me in my dream.

Cucurucho sígnals for Prisma to stop by raising the basket too high for them to reach as it begins to overfill slightly from all the blueberries. They laugh, their voice coming out robotic like always.

"You should try some… yes? They should taste good.." Cucurucho says, lowering the basket once again to let them take some. - @ranibow-sprimnkle

Cucurucho’s ear twitches slightly, but beyond that she does not react to Tallulahs scream. They simply take a step back after waking them up.

“Good morning,” they say, taking out another tray of food.. It was much more food than the last time, not only to compensate for not coming in a long time but seemingly there to keep her content for perhaps another week.

“Silence, please,” cucurucho continues, not yet giving Tallulah the tray of food.

Tallulah, if she was awake enough, would hear the slightly familiar sound of footsteps getting closer and the faint glowing light from the door unlocking.

She would most definitely FEEL herself being shaken awake, the foot of cucurucho pushing her back and fourth. It’s not particularly rough, but it also doesn’t feel that nice.. at least she doesn’t collect dirt on herself. - @bear-bimbo

Waking up with a start is never fun. Waking up from a week's worth of sleep is never fun. Tallulah does both things at once, and her body's immediate reaction is to cry. At least, until she pulls herself together, rubbing her eyes for a moment before they adjust to the dark again and she can barely make out Cucurucho's shape in the nothingness.

The second thing she does is scream.

There is a knock on the Federation Buildings door, and two figure stand expectantly waiting outside. - @goopingandgunking @babywitha-gun

Cucurucho opens the door, standing to block the way. They pull out a pre-written book, handing it over to Charlie.

“PLEASE STAND OUT HERE DURING THE EXAMINATION. YOUR PRESENCE INSIDE THE FEDERATION BUILDING IS CURRENTLY NOT WELCOME, SORRY.”

The bear then looks down towards Flippa, and calls out.. “Please, follow me.”
