If I die. . .(Reaper One-shot)
Extracurricular Prompt:
“If I die, I’m going to haunt you”
(We did one of these for Cassidy pre-name change. We’re doing one of these for Reaper now. My deepest appreciation for my lovely friend who got to listen to me grumble and see me fail at spelling a couple of times.
Enjoy!
Side note: How are we feeling about the full thing being under a read more? Is it helpful? is it annoying? Lemme know!)

You heard a deep low chuckle from behind you and turned to glare over your shoulder
Reaper or Gabriel as he was more commonly known to you, mostly stood -he was leaning- in the doorway to your shared bedroom, usual mask in place but his usual coat had been substituted for a dark green one.
"You will be fine mi vida" he said, coming over to wrap his arms around your waist, his head resting on your shoulder "I will be your shadow"
"And won't let me out of your sight, I know, I know" you grumbled, letting out a soft sigh as you leaned into him "I'm just. . .not sure about this"
"I am unsure why, getting information from someone we do not know or trust from a haunted maze seems like a perfectly trustworthy idea" he said, sarcasm practically dripping from his words and you snickered
"So you agree this is going to go wrong" you said and you felt and heard him chuckle quietly
"That’s my secret mi amor, I never trust things will go right"
You made a small noise at that, turning to face yourself in the mirror to double check, for the third time, that the skeleton-themed face paint you'd applied hadn't cracked anywhere.
"You look fine" came the expected comment and you gently swatted him on the arm, you knew that but your nerves weren't helping at all.
You were always a little nervous before a mission but ones like this where you had barely any intel? you hated them the most.
"Has Sombra said anything else since briefing?" you asked
"No, That girl is never helpful" Reaper said with an annoyed growl "But she's being more illusive than usual"
"Confidence" You said, giving small jazz hands, smiling softly as you felt him silently chuckle against your back "You promise you'll stay where you can see me?"
"I swear on my cold dead heart" He said, lifting his mask slightly to press a kiss to your clothed shoulder. A comment like that would normally make you laugh but you couldn’t muster it today.
Taking what strength you could from that, you took a deep slow breath and nodded. Connecting eyes with him using the mirror
"I'm ready"
Many hours and a plane ride later, you stood staring up at a large decorated farmhouse. Fake cobwebs hung from the railing around the porch, carved pumpkins lined the stairs, and flashing lights of gruesome ghoul and zombie faces stared out from the windows on every floor. Looking foreboding in a cartoon horror sort of way at such a late hour.
The red bat lights hanging from the fence that circled the property, the house and the large corn maze where the haunted experience was taking place, would have normally been the only source of light but the path leading up to the front door had flickering candles on either side. Setting this all up must have cost a fortune.
You could imagine how this operated during normal hours, someone waiting dressed up and blooded at the door, a line of people waiting that stretched all the way back to the property line and beyond, the sounds of delighted and terrified screaming, the faint revving of chainsaws and the smell of decaying leaves, pumpkin and corn.
It seemed a little lifeless with the only sounds being the wind and sound of your own heartbeat in your ears.
Reaching up, you pressed on the bud in your ear, waiting for it to crackle to life
"Reaper can you read me?" you whispered, your voice seemingly too loud in the quiet of night
"Loud and clear, are you in position?" came the crackle of a voice in your ear and you relaxed, even with the slight distance, they worked. Sombra had assured you of such but given the state of them, you hadn't been sure. You'd protested at first at using such old tech, arguing just to use the usual earpiece you were used to before it had been explained to both you and Reaper that the person you were meeting up with had stressed no high tech.
"He's worried that his, shall we say, extracurricular activities giving secrets to the enemy will get back to his boss should they pick up on any monitored signals" Sombra had explained with a handwave. You hadn't voiced any protests after that, not wanting to risk a gang fight with just you and Reaper on deck.
"About to walk in" you confirmed
"You are clear for entry. Moving forward now. Keep me posted" He said before the line went silent again and you let your hand drop. Knowing he was around, ready to drop in if things went pear-shaped was a comfort but not enough to keep all your nerves at bay.
Taking another slow deep breath, you walked up the steps and had a small look around, the instructions Sombra had passed along said something about a key being left on the porch. . .Aha!
Spotting a small white tag poking out from an orange pumpkin, you half-lifted the pumpkin up and grabbed the key waiting underneath it.
Perfect, so far so good.
Walking back down the stairs, you took a left and wandered until you came to a locked gate, more red spider lights hanging from across its arch.
Finding no traps, you brushed some of the lights up and held them out of your way before unlocking the gate and pushing it open, cringing slightly as it gave a loud dramatic creak. The owners clearly hadn't kept up with oiling the hinges, it certainly added to the aesthetics of the place but with the stillness of the night, it may as well have been a gunshot with how it announced your presence.
Walking through, you saw the starting path stretched out in only one way for a few meters before opening up and splitting off. With no directions on where to go you, quickly,  got your phone out of your pocket. Hitting the flash, you aimed the light and looked down directly at the ground, your eyes searching for a singular pattern in the dirt. A pair of footprints that would have been new. Shining your light around.
It took you but a moment to find them, a set of size 8 boot prints. Feeling emboldened with the knowledge you at least could follow your contact's footsteps until you met up with the man yourself.
Walking forward and to the left, you followed the tracks, right, forward, left, right, forward, forward, right, left, right, right, right and finally another left and you found the maze open up on either side of you revealing a large carnival sort of set up. Light poles had been installed with lights that faced directly downwards, giving spots of light with limited ambient light. The dark spots around seeming all the darker for it. Haybales and wooden seats, knocked-over tables, pumpkins, carts and a few dilapidated food stands, it certainly gave off the right sort of vibe.
You held up your light and gave a few steps forward before movement to your right caught your eye, turning your head, you saw the distinct silhouette of someone, the man you were here to see possibly?
They were pacing nervously in front of what looked like the door to the next maze area.
You assumed that this area within normal business hours would be where someone with a chainsaw would be waiting to chase guests through to the other side and back into the maze. It was a decent set-up.
You made a low whistling noise, watching as the person paused and turned towards you, echo'ing the noise back.
You gave a nod and gestured at the space between you, aiming your torch light at yourself temporarily to aid in them seeing what you were doing, tilting your head in an exaggerated motion, silently asking if you could move closer
They simply nodded and anxiously gestured you forward, their head moving on a swivel.
Moving closer you attempted to make out any details you could, short cut dark hair, medium build, a few inches on you, possible shadow of a sidearm left-hand side. It was too dark to properly make out any other details. What you did know from the whistle was this was your man.
"Were you followed?" He asked frantic and you quickly shook your head "Good good good. Have to make this quick."
"Is everything okay?" you asked, starting to feel jumpy just watching him and he simply stared at you
"The Sven-Ingvars are not one to mess around" He insisted while you filled that name away for later "If they so much as think that I have been giving away my lunch order to people they deem enemies, it will be a closed casket"
"I get it, we'll make it quick then" You said, watching as some of the tension faded from his body language. You turned the torch off on your phone before holding down the power button, waiting until the screen went black before turning your attention back to the man in front of you. Your eyes beginning to adjust to the low light of the area "What have you got for me?"
"Here" He said, reaching behind him and you tensed before his hand came back into view, simply holding a small glowing info stick "All of their scheduled meetings for the next 12 months. Who and where and when and backup plans and spots if the first is compromised"
You reached out to take it, only to shoot him an annoyed look as he pulled it back at the last second.
"How do I know you aren't here to trick me?" He asked and you sighed softly, irritation beginning to build. An easy thing as you were already on edge.
"I would have just shot you and taken the information for myself if I wanted to do anything by now" You said holding your hand out
He seemed to pause at that, his foot beginning to tap quickly before he dropped the stick into your hand
"I was never here" He said, pointing a finger at you and you simply nodded. Pocketing the stick, you half turned away from him
"You were never here" You confirmed and he seemed to finally relax. The two of you shared a nod and you had been about to turn away completely when you felt something go flying past you.
The man made a grunt of startled pain and stumbled backwards, staring at you wide-eyed before he went down. Hitting the ground hard. You didn't give yourself a moment to look before you were bolting past him and into the maze, hearing loud footsteps coming up from behind you.
You took the first left you could and kept on running, reaching a hand up to press against the earbud
"They're here. They know" You said before cutting the connection, ripping the thing out of your ear and throwing it into the ground, making sure to step on it as you ran for good measure.
You took a right, ducking as you heard a bullet go whizzing by you. You threw yourself around the next left corner and shoved off the sign there for some extra momentum.
You continued to run, making random choices and dodging bullets, too nervous about your pursuer gaining ground to draw the pistol at your hip. Occasionally hearing faint yells from other parts of the area.
Taking another right, you continued to run up until you saw the wall of bush in front of you and you skidded to a halt.
Dead end.
You swore and quickly drew your gun, spinning back around and aiming the way you'd come, waiting, listening.
Footsteps got louder as they got closer and closer until a loud shotgun blast rang out followed by a choking noise and a thud then silence.
"Reaper?" You whispered, breaking the silence as you frantically glanced around.
Catching a glimpse of his white mask, you let out a soft noise of relief, lowering your gun. He stalked over, visibly looking you up and down and once he got close enough, he caught your chin in a clawed gloved hand. At this distance you could see faint smoke coming out from around the mask and the eye holes and you covered his hand with one of your own, giving him what you hoped was a reassuring smile
"I'm okay, they didn't hit me. I'm uninjured" You assured him, not mentioning that a couple of bullets cut a little close for comfort.
"Good" He growled before turning back around and putting another shot in the body on the ground "Get back to the front"
"Okay" You said, giving a small nod, expecting him to let your face go and when he didn't, you gently squeezed his hand "I'm okay Gabe. Go"
With an annoyed noise, your chin was released and he stalked off, fading into the darkness like a well-trained predator.
You gave it a few moments before you started walking, taking care to be as quiet as you could while maintaining a quick pace. Pausing every so often when the sound of bullets reached your ears, you waited until everything went quiet before starting to move again.
As such, it took you a good few minutes to reach the carnival set up again and you pressed your lips together in a thin line at the sight.
There were a couple of bodies piled together under one of the lights and you did your best to avoid looking at them as you crossed the space, making your way back to the front of the farmhouse.
You slipped through the gate entrance and went and perched on the stairs, gun resting on your lap with one hand covering it, ready to bring it up at a moment's notice.
Black smoke drifted towards you and Reaper materialized before long, blood splatter covering part of his mask.
"Let's go" He said, his voice low and you gave a simple nod. Standing up, the two of you silently made your way back down the path.
You only felt save enough to talk again when you reached the edge of the property and spotted your car, bulletproof and quick, still where you'd left it.
"Are they all taken care of?" the question hurt to ask, their bodies would likely be found by the experience workers if Akande couldn't be bothered to send in a clean up crew and you pitied them for that
"Yes" Reaper answered, tucking his shotguns back into their holsters "Did you get the information?"
"I did yeah. It's safe" You said, tapping the pocket where you'd stored it before tucking your own gun away. Reaper let out a grunt in response and you simply fell silent.
As you approached, the car beeped before the doors opened and you quickly got into the passenger seat as Reaper took the driver's side. He didn't wait until both doors closed to turn the car on and start driving, the doors closing with a soft click.
You'd worked with your partner enough times to know he would want silence. Using his wraith form always cost him and caused him pain and he had the tendency to snap at people, you included. Which you understood.
You were content to stare out the windows at the passing scenery and just take solace in his presence and the fact you'd survived getting shot at. Again.
Surprising you, you felt a hand on your thigh and you glanced over at Reaper and placed your hand over his. Intertwining your fingers, you felt him give your hand a gentle squeeze and smiled.
At least you didn't need to haunt him. Not like he haunted you. Your very own spiteful protective if not a little dramatic spirit of death. There to keep you safe.
Always.

Fanfic premise
It’s been a while Tumblr but I’m back!
I have a premise for my fanfic “The Bat Who Flew The Reaper’s Nest” and I wanted some advice, recommendations, constructive criticism etc.
Anything would be appreciated!
The premise is as follows “Screech is a lowlife mercenary with unclear ties to Overwatch before it fell. She gets hired by a mysterious figure to steal a bioweapon from Hexiton Corp but doesn't question what’s she’s doing until she is attacked by Reaper in pursuit. Little do they know that they know each other but neither one knows”.
What do y’all think? I’ve done 11 chapters and 13k words on it and I wanted to know if it was an interesting premise.

Fluffy Undertaker Headcanons
Request: Can I get some fluffy undertaker head cannons to make my day :) please have a good day and stay safe
Title: Fluffy Undertaker Headcanons
Genre: prepare thyself for an overabundance of FLOOF
Pairing: Undertaker x Reader
Notes: This request just hit me and I- ooh, I’m gushing at the thought of writing this. Some odd comfort fluff for the properly named Undertaker was just perfect to slide around. (Also, super sorry for this being a little late - my job’s got me busy!)
That being said, thanks for the wishes! I hope all of you are healthy and safe in this time, and that if you aren’t that you are going about it properly.
Below the cut!
Tumblr media
Part 1: Friends
you have to have a weird sense of humor combined with dread to become this guys friend
or even develop something generally close to friendship
either way, when it happens, it (metaphorically) smacks you in the face.
seriously, you’ve probably gotten hit by something flying in that shop if someone were to pass by
(we don’t know if something is laying on the coffins when he pops out of one, so watch your back.)
but to cover the overall basics?
yeah, undertaker will be a hoot and a half
expect there to be an influx of jokes (from your end or his, it doesn’t matter)
they will most likely revolve around vulgar topics or death, maybe a combination of both (though that might come from him on the rare occasion).
otherwise, there will be a lot of helping at the shop.
which is when you will catch the jokes.
and possibly an ornament of some kind.
you never know :)
on bad days, though, when you can’t crack a joke with him or you don’t feel like you could help out
he’d try to help you.
you trudged through the pit it took to become friends with him, so of course he’d try to help you.
and by being friends with him, like written above, you would most likely have a darker sense of humor.
seeing as that is also the way he seems to deal with things, yeah, he’d crack a few dark jokes.
if that worked? great, now let’s terrorize the queen’s watchdog and his butler together!
if not? well, that’s when things would get awkward.
he’d crack even more jokes and, honestly, it would work at that point.
seriously, this guy takes pleasure in humor.
(my god, i sound like a broken record holy shit-)
you two also take an immense amount of pride when it comes to annoying phantomhive
tag team taunting? hell yeah!
sometimes your jokes get sebastian laughing, which only makes ciel even more annoyed.
it’s great, walking a thin line between life and death with him.
on certain days, you two would go out on the town.
at night, of course, but just finding an underground pub somewhere is perfect for the two of you.
after a drink or two (of whatever you two chose, or course), you’d probably go back to his shop and lay low.
play some card games on coffins or make up some stupid alternative game until midnight.
just some really fun times.
depending on your status, too - or even your workplace in general - he’d help you with what you needed.
Part 2: Relationship
(spoiler alert for non-manga readers, even if this point was decently far back at this point- nEWAY)
so, at this point, trust has been developed to a level that is enviable on all levels
you two have shared multiple secrets between each other that you wouldn’t tell anyone else.
yours was one that could destroy any trace of a reputation that you held if it were to get out
his was his elaborate plan that would come into play on the atlantic
yeah, you were also a person that had a part in that, though that was mostly done for experimental purposes.
undertaker had decided to let you in on his experiments after you two had started the courting process
and through the awkwardness of it all, you became accustomed to his antics.
so when the time came, you two would just do what slightly deranged people would do when the experiments worked:
make dark jokes and slow dance around the plethora of undead people walking around and gnawing on people from a farther distance while hoping that you two wouldn’t get caught by the demon butler
yeah, fun times.
you can include the moment when you hid and undertaker went head to head with the reapers and demon.
(you heard all of that and were worried senseless, but you had faith in him.)
either way, when this is all done and over and you inevitably gtfo of there, you two resort to cuddling at your abode
at this point, the two of you are hitting a point where you both say ‘screw it, they can’t see us’ and just - cuddle.
he’d be big spoon, you’d be on his chest, or you and him would be tangled together chest-to-chest
(you have cuddled in a coffin ffs, how else would two people fit in a regular-sized one?)
those would be times when there would be an odd combination of dark humor and praises to the other.
one minute, you may be playing with his hair and making small braids in it, uttering how it is so soft and smooth
the next, you’d be pulling on it (the braid) just the slightest because undertaker made a death joke and you got a whiff of his breath
you both avoid typical mannerisms of the times, and take pride in it :)
the most you two would do, most likely, would be cuddling, joking, and short kisses on the cheek or forehead (sometimes on the crown of your head)
in short? you better be able to handle this death-obsessed, experimental weirdo that can’t stop himself from cracking a joke and wreaking havoc at every corner.
you also better be prepared to fight anyone that may target you because of his doings.
(it’s honestly kind of funny to see how this develops lol)

Fluff!!
Gabe has been wanting to propose to his s/o for months but he’s been so scared. On the night he gets back from a mission, he and his partner have a romantic dinner on a cliff at Gibraltar.
“Gabe when are you coming home?” You spoke through the satellite phone mic.
Your voice echoed with the clicking of your shoes on the hard concrete of the Gibraltar bases floors. A cool breeze flowed through the hangar room as you made your way back to the residence section of the watchpoint.
“It’s a surprise, darling.” He rasped through the other satellite phone.
You groaned and slid the door closed in your apartment style room.
“The sky is beautiful tonight though, so how about you go outside on our cliff and look at the stars for me. I wish I could be with you watching them, mi amor.” He nearly whispered through his phone.
“I just got back to our room! I’ll do it though. For you.” You groaned into the phone.
Sometimes your boyfriend, regardless of how menacing and fearsome he was, was a sappy lovebird at heart. You once caught him watching Hallmark movies and crying.
You hung up on Gabe, not before a swift “I love you, be safe, come home in one piece.”
The walk to the cliff was short and sweet- weapons suppliers and even some Overwatch agents walked by. You were on this base for two reasons. Firstly, you had a long term with an agent. This was a newly introduced plan because of the remote location of the Watchpoint. Even if that weren’t the reason, you were still a receptionist of sorts- handling communication between Overwatch, Blackwatch, and other world safety organizations. You had one of the most important and overlooked jobs in Overwatch.
The sky was pretty. You hummed some song that Gabe loved and made your way up the last hill. A soft glow came from the cliff as the billions of stars twinkled above.
You gasped- Gabe was standing by a romantic looking dinner table. Candles were aflame and wine was being chilled in a small bucket. He wore that grey suit that never failed to drive you crazy.
Of course you felt severely underdressed, having changed into jogging pants and a flannel top before going to the cliff.
Your breath caught in your throat as your boyfriend held his arm out and kissed your hand.
The dinner was delicious. Reyes had always been a secretly amazing cook but you never expected this. After a million questions about his mission, when he actually got back, and how he pulled this off, your mind ceased it’s on-going marathon and you stared into Gabe’s eyes.
“Mi amor, you know I love you more than anything. You know I would take a bullet for you. I do many things and feel many things for you. I need you to do something for me.” He seemed so serious. You almost got a little mad at him for making you feel indebted to him.
But after he slid out of the seat onto one knee, you knew any anger in your body was immediately replaced by pure joy.
“Will you do something for me, and make me the happiest man alive?” He smiled through teary eyes.
“Yes, yes, yes! More than a million times yes. Infinity times yes.” You giggled, staring at the beautiful ring.
Gabe chuckled and pulled you in for the most passionate kiss you had ever shared.
You pretended not to hear the clicking of cameras and a light murmur coming from the not-so-hidden group of Overwatch agents. A flash of a brown pixie cut and sharp giggle made you smile even further into the kiss.
This is home.

Poly R76 with an omega civilian s/o? Like they're both Alphas and their S/O has nothing to do with Overwatch and everyone just thinks Jack and Gabe are mates until their s/o drops in? (bonus points if they're dropping off cookies)
You both loved and hated the Geneva base. It was absolutely gorgeous on the outside; a sleekly designed building with a newly erected statue of Jack and a large museum dedicated to the heroes and the world that had risen up after the Omnic Crisis. There was even a gift shop and restaurant where the food wasn’t half bad. a stand for ice cream and balloons and a sitting area for visitors to relax and enjoy the ‘ambiance’. The thing that you absolutely abhorred, however, was the actual building meant for Overwatch and Blackwatch personnel. You had turned down one hallway too many, utterly lost in the maze of hallways.
Admittedly, you understood why the base was structured the way it was. Overwatch was not only a remnant of the war but a peacekeeping organization that had its hand in every major international conflict both legally and occasionally illegally. Overwatch was not a small organization and even Blackwatch was nothing to turn your nose up at, both requiring ample space both administratively and practically. There were practice ranges, R&D departments of every kind, a state of the art trauma center along with many other types of offices neither of your mates had divulged to you. A base that was easily navigated was easily sabotaged, infiltrated and destroyed. So even if you were lost, you could take it in stride. Plus you had treats for them.
You had managed to dig up an old-fashioned wicker basket, no doubt a gift from Jack’s mother and father way back when they had visited last year. You had spent a good portion of the morning filling the basket with their favorites like something out of one of those classic movies or musical Gabriel loved so much. A medium rare roast beef sandwich piled high with layers of carmelized onions, blue cheese, spinach and spicy mustard for Jack (an ample handful of mints stuffed along the side to handle the post-sandwich breath). For Gabriel, braised chicken you had simmered the night before stacked high on a roll with tomatoes, fried onions, spring mix and his guacamole spread on top. The sandwiches were carefully stacked to the side of the basket, one container filled with sliced apples and mangoes and another filled with carrots and peppers and finally a tupperware container filled to the brim with your homemade cookies. Milk chocolate chunk cookies and snickerdoodles, sectioned off with a thin layer of hard plastic.
Somehow, the scent of the cookies seemed to overtake the harsh scent of both of their sandwiches, hints of vanilla and brown sugar and butter clinging to your skin and dress from all the baking you had done that morning. It mingled with your natural scent; roses petals, amber and sweets making you smell like quite the treat. Now if only you could sniff out your mates
You chuckled idly, knowing that without an impending heat or an early rut, your scents didn’t stand out that intensely in a crowd. Still
there had to be a way to find them

“Excuse me ma’am? You can’t be back here. This area is for authorized personnel only.”
You jumped slightly as a hand gently tapped your shoulder, twisting around on your heel to see the concerned face of one of the security personnel for the building. His hand loosely grasped the blaster pistol on his hip, his eyes immediately looking you up and down warily. You smiled warmly at him, knowing the man was only doing his job even if the gesture was mildly threatening. In his defense, you stood out like a sore thumb and it was a wonder you had made it so far. Everyone walking through the halls had some type of uniform that signified that they were Overwatch personnel, often a CAC card also affixed outwardly to their person. You, on the other hand, wore a cream-colored Delores swing dress that was covered in pink and red roses of all maturities. You had even managed to dig up a pair of rose-colored ankle strap pumps, looking the perfect image of neo-50s fashion.
“Oh oh it’s okay”, you said quickly, laying on the charm as your eyes broke away from his, head tilting down as you opened the clutch that hung loosely around your left wrist. Your entire body jumped, a squeak of shock barely swallowed in your throat as he pulled the blaster from his hip and pointed it at you. Lifting your hands into the air, the basket held tightly in one hand and your cloth swinging freely on the other side. You gulped nervously as the suspicion the man regarded you with intensified. “Hey, I have ID and an access card
it’s just in my clutch, I swear.”
You kept your voice calm and even, thickly laying on your omega charm despite the heavy feeling of fear that made your legs quiver. His gun remained trained on you as he cautiously reached for the small bag, unzipping it and allowing the content to fall freely to the floor below. You fought the small pout that threatened to rise up, your favorite lipstick rolling to the left, a tube of mascara to the right, your IDs scattering on the floor. He glanced at the floor then you, slowly lowering to a knee, warily picking up the identification card as well as the deep blue translucent card with the Overwatch symbol on the back. His brow furrowed briefly for a moment as he looked at your ID then your Overwatch CAC card, his jaw going slack for a moment before he scrambled to put his gun away. He dropped to both knees and began to pick up all the items that had fallen on the floor, stammering an apology as he did so.
“I am so so sorry, Mrs. Reyes-Morrison! I-I had no idea!”
Lowering your arms you shook your head dismissively, smiling appreciatively as he assisted you with putting all of the items back into the clutch. The man was simply doing his job, preventing any hostiles or unknowns from getting too far into the building. Most of the world did not know that you were the mate of two of the greatest war heroes of the time, save for close friends and family. To the rest of the world, Gabriel and Jack were mated Alphas a power couple to end all power couples
“It’s fine”, you answered back quickly, dipping your head in thanks as he took a nervous half-step away from you. “I always get turned around when I visit
usually Gabe or Jack meets up with me but I wanted to surprise them for once.”
“Oh well ma’am this is the completely wrong building”, the agent answered genuinely, before reaching for a walkie-talkie on the opposite side of his waist. “This is the records wing. But, I can get you a ride to the admin side!”
“Really”, you gasped out, letting out a sigh of relief as he nodded emphatically, ordering a small transport cart to that location.
“I swear to god if we have to watch another slideshow”, Jack sighed as the last of the attendees of that meeting filtered out of the room, lightly pressing his hand against his eyes to sooth some of the tension away.  Gabriel made his way around from his side of the table, his arm sliding across Jack’s shoulders, hand squeezing his bicep lightly.
“I dunno Jack”, Gabe teased, a small smirk teasing his lips as the blonde looked away from his datapad. “I thought the whole ‘interactive’ feature was a nice touch. Who knew that charts could be so fun when you can adjust the budget.”
Jack snorted quietly, rolling his eyes briefly before pushing himself away from the table. Gabriel gave a half step back but didn’t release the man, Jack’s arm sliding around the Blackwatch Commander’s waist. A low hum of contentment rumbled through the both of them, each allowing the comforting scent and touch of one another temporarily soothe the stresses of that long morning away. They’d draw comfort from stealing a quick lunch with one another before they’d have to go their separate way; training, requisitions, and mission planning for two separate organization. The only moments they could steal were the ones when they could venture home; spending a bit of time with their omega and eating before dropping in exhaustion. Rinse, wash, repeat.
“Come on sweet cheeks”, Jack said, snickering as he quickly pinched Gabriel’s rear. Gabriel glared down at his mate, no real malice in his gaze, only earning a cheeky smirk back before he pressed a chaste kiss to Jack’s lips.  “Let’s see what the cafeteria is serving up.”
“Lead the way Commander.”
Jack’s hand lightly pressed on Gabriel’s back, escorting him from the room with a small smile. Gabe dipped his head down, scenting Jack briefly before pausing, his nose still pressed against the shell of his ear as his brow furrowed in confusion. He could smell Jack’s scent,  crisp Autumn air and cedarwood and spice
but your scent was much stronger than the lingering scent he had smelled on the blonde this morning.
“Do you smell that”, Jack asked, saltwater and musk and black coffee suddenly minced with roses and brown sugar.
“Just about to ask–”
“Gabi! Jackie!”
You carefully lifted yourself out of the seat that the security guard had provided for you, a wide smile splitting your face as you practically skipped over to the men. The looks on their faces made this absolutely worth it; confusion morphing into shock and then surprise and excitement as you moved closer. A squeal of genuine happiness left your lips as both men moved in tandem Gabriel grabbing the picnic basket as Jack grabbed you about the waist and twirled you, setting you down only for Gabriel to do the same.
Both dipped their heads down, kissing on either side of your cheek, your face briefly nuzzling against either one of them as you soaked in the scent and presence of your darling Alphas.
“Now this is a pleasant surprise”, Jack said, pressing yet another kiss to the top of your head.
“I wanted to bring you boys lunch since I know you’re not feeding yourselves”, you teased, grinning as they both tried to open their mouths to create an excuse.
You held up a hand, chuckling as you took the basket from Gabriel, flipping open the top and pulling out the container of cookies. A spark of giddiness traveled through you as you watched their eyes get wide, eyes dragging away from the container and back to you as both surged forward, covering both of your cheeks and ears and sides of your jaw in affectionate kisses.
“Wait is that roast beef”, Jack asked, hand edging towards the basket just as you managed to placed the cookies back and slam the top closed.
“Mhmm”, you answered with a proud nod before shaking your head as the man tried to sneak back in there. “We are going to have a proper lunch like a proper pack, okay? So lead the way to the cafeteria!”
“Alright alright”, Jack acquiesced, taking the basket as you gave him a warning glare and offering you his free hand. Gabriel grabbed your other one, a wide smile creasing your lips as you were flanked by both of your mates. This was something you had missed, you’d have to do this more often.

The Broken Past That Continues To Haunt;; Reaper/Past Abused!Reader
The Broken Past That Continues To Haunt;; Protective!Pree-fall!Reaper/Past Abused! Reader Warning;; Mentions of past abuse, bad memories, Mentions of Nightmares.
She could recall the nightmares, the emotional abusive and the physical and she can remember how hard it had been to run away. Everything was still fresh in her head from those times as she sat on the bed she shared with her boyfriend, knees close to her and crying while her phone went off. She knew who it was. He hadn’t stopped calling for the past few hours.
It was unusual but also so familiar, but (Y/N) was terrified to answer the phone. He would demand to see her, demand her to talk to him and to ‘come home’. She was scared she would go. Even around some of the toughest and most caring people in the world, she was scared. Scared they would get hurt, scared Gabriel would get hurt because she knew how much he would go through to keep her safe. He told her every night he would keep her safe and she believed him. But at the cost of believing him, she knew he would get hurt. Even with most of Overwatch behind him.
The door to the room opened and (Y/N) flinched, curling up tighter. She didn’t know how it was but all her brain could figure was it was ‘him’ walking through that door. The one she was so scared of. But when a voice came, it wasn’t his. “(Y/N)?” It was deeper and it made her feel safe for the first time since this had started. “(Y/N)? Where are you? I brought lu—“ He cut himself off when he heard the phone and the woman could hear grumbling and she could hear him shuffling around. The phone happened to be on the bedside before the woman so before Gabriel could answer the phone he saw her and heard her crying. “(Y/N)?” She slowly looked up at him, barely even a little but he still saw the tears and it was only moments before she felt his arms around her and him holding her close. “What’s going on
?” There was a moment of silence before the woman hugged him, turned and began to cry into his shoulder while the phone continued to ring. “(Y/N) what’s going on
? Why is the phone continually ringing
?” Gabriel asked and reached over to grab it, only for (Y/N) to grab his arm and shake her head continuously. “N-N
 Not th-the phone
” She told him between sobs. “H-He calling
 N-Not him
” “Him
?” There was obvious confusion, but the male moved his arm back and around his girlfriend before moving to place a kiss on her head. “You know whoever it is can’t hurt you
 I won’t let them.” “Y-You get hurt
 N-No
” She shook her head and looked up to him and sniffled, taking a deep breath that she found hard to take from her chest. “Gonna h-hurt you
” There was a frown on Gabriel’s face as he listened, moving his hand to wipe away tears there was cascading down her cheeks. There was a moment before Gabriel reached over and picked up the phone, ignoring (Y/N)’s protest and he gave her a small smile. “I got this.” He told her and placed another kiss to her cheek, as he moved the phone to his ear and answered.
“Goddamn finally! You answered (Y/N).” There was an angry voice on the other line and huffed after there was silence for a moment. “God damn talk to me
!” “You ring this number again and harass my girlfriend again and I’ll find you and ill kick your ass.” The woman could hear her boyfriend growling while she shook against him. “What? Who the hell do you think your talking to?!” She could hear her ex-boyfriend on the phone and whimpered into Gabriel’s shoulder. “I don’t think you realise who your talking to.” More growling. “Because if you want to die, I have more than enough resources to make that happen. So don’t make me repeat this again. Come anywhere near her or call her and I won’t hesitate to find you.” With that Gabriel hung up and held his partner close to him and huffed slightly before chuckling. “What did you see in that guy?” There was a small amount of giggling between the two partners, before Gabriel lifted the woman up in his arms, saying something about “how lunch would get cold” and it was only moments before she was placed at a seat at the table. “I’ll be two seconds.” He told her, pushing the food containers towards her before moving towards the door.
“You called.” The door opened and (Y/N) noticed Jesse McCree, one of the Overwatch agents in Blackwatch with Gabriel, leaning against the door and Gabriel stood, putting his fork down and grabbed (Y/N)’s phone from where he placed it near the door and tossed it to his ‘friend’. “Make sure that gets destroyed. Ill order (Y/N) I knew one but I don’t need idiots making her upset again,” He grumbled the last part as Jesse looked confused. “Just make sure it’s done and be ready tomorrow, we have training at O-Six-hundred hours.”

Can I get a head canon of Reinhardt, soldier, and reaper trying to convince reader to go to the doctors to get there shots. Reader is deadly afraid, so they are quite stubborn about it, almost rather risking getting sick then getting the shot.
Reinhardt:
-His first priority is your health
-He finds it kinda adorable how nervous you are, and he so feels kinda bad about how scared you are
-He tries to convince you by telling you all the help it will do
-If that doesn’t work he’ll tell you that the two of you are going to get ice cream but he brings you to the doctor
-He holds your hand the entire time though
-You hate him for like a day but soon get over it
Soldier 76:
-He finds your fear a little ridiculous
-But he cares deeply about making sure you feel safe, especially when you’re with him
-It takes a lot of coaxing but he eventually manages to get you to go
-He takes you out to dinner afterward as an apology
Reaper:
-He is very annoyed at your fear
-This man has like zero patience honestly
-If you don’t agree to go within two or three times of him asking you, he’ll literally drag you there
-But while you’re there he holds your hand, silently comforting you
-He tells you how brave you were after where no one else can hear his gentle encouragement

Full Circle Chapter 1: From the Past
I got myself around to start writing something. I had so many ideas about Overwatch, about Gabe and Jack and the past and the recall and I really just wanted to start to write about it. Story will take place in both present and past of Overwatch.
This story will be about a former Overwatch agent and current professor at Oasis University. A certain old friend comes back into your life...
You were standing in front of your giant book shelf. It was already almost completely dark outside but you still felt like you had to get some work done today.
Although the night had fallen it still felt pretty hot – there was never a time when it was cold in Oasis University. One of the world’s most famous universities was located in Iraq after all, desert terrain. You’ve gotten used to the heat although you still preferred slightly cooler temperatures.
Your hand was running over the backs of a lot of old books – after all you still loved the feeling of a book in your hand although you were usually working with state of the art of technology – even developing it. You had been a professor at Oasis University for a few years now, teaching a mixture of computer science and media studies and a new semester was only a few weeks away. This meant you still had a lot of work to do, preparing your courses and this meant a lot of reading.
You sighed softly and blew a strand of hair out of your face. This wasn’t your favourite part about the job but it still had to be done. After some more time of searching you found the book you were searching for. Standing on your tip toes you reached to get it while the short exercise allowed a little golden ring hanging from a thin necklace to be seen which usually was securely tucked into your shirt or dress. Once you got the book you tucked the ring away again – closer to your heart, where you liked to feel it on your skin.
“You don’t look a year older.”
You basically jumped at the voice. It was very late already – usually there were only very few people still around. But this wasn’t the reason you rapidly turned on your heel facing the door. It was the voice itself that shocked you.
You hadn’t heard this voice in seven damned years and you were dead sure you’d never hear it again.
Your eyes widened, taking in the figure standing in the door frame. A tall man - certainly he had seen better years - with already white hair and two big scars on his face. But his blue eyes were still glowing with youth and his muscular body and the way he held himself made sure one wouldn’t think him an old man.
“No!”, you gasped, the book you just took from the shelf dropping from your hand “this can absolutely not be!”
You stepped over to your office chair heavily dropping down on it while still staring at the man who was now slowly walking over to your broad desk.
“Well, uhm
”, he stuttered and lifting his hand to scratch his head and ruffling his short hair. He suddenly looked like a teenage boy.
You stared at him shaking your head while you felt a wild mixture of emotions: shock, confusion, sadness, grief – and finally anger. A lot of anger.
“You’ve got to be FUCKING kidding me!”, you screamed, jumping off your chair again. You stomped around your desk in such a fast fashion that it made the man take a step backwards. Without hesitation, you hit him. Not a light slap - oh no - but a forceful blow of your fist that hit the man’s nose, rocking his head back.
“You CANNOT be FUCKING SERIOUS, Jack! You were ALIVE ALL THE DAMN TIME? Seven goddamn years and you do not think about saying anything? Not a single message? YOU FUCKING ASSHOLE!” You swung for a second blow but this time Jack was prepared. He caught your fist in his own larger hand and held you without any struggle.
“Please, I’m sorry. It’s
 it’s so complicated. I know, I
”, he began, but was interrupt when you tried to hit him with your other hand.
“OH, COMPLICATED? THAT’S WHAT IT IS? I HOPE THE FRACTION OF YOUR NOSE IS JUST AS COMPLICATED, YOU ASSHOLE!”
“Listen”, he said, now struggling a bit more while firmly holding both of your fists “let me explain you everything and when you’re not satisfied you can beat me up as bad as you want.”
The wrestling between you two went on for a few more moments but Jack was clearly stronger than you and there wasn’t much you could do. The anger within you slowly subsided as you watched a thin trickle of blood running from your opponent’s nose.
You let your arms slump down at your sides and give in: “Alright. You have dinner to explain it all to me and if I am not very satisfied with your story
” You don’t complete your threat and shake your pointer finger in his face.
“Alright, dinner it is. But I’d prefer a more private place. I
I’m not quite officially alive again
”, his words trailed off and he scratched his head again.
“Still like pineapple on your pizza?”, you ask, the slightest hint of a smile on your lips.
“Love it. Like in the old days.”

A particularly bad day (Reaper X Reader)
I figured i should finally get this story done since i’ve been meaning to for awhile now. I hope you all enjoy!
AO3
You were one of the medical staff at Talon assigned to Gabriel “Reaper” Reyes, that’s how the two of you had met. It had taken almost a whole year before he trusted you which you had been fine with, you knew who he was and most of what had happened. After that you had been fine with him tolerating you. You were pretty sure you had been the one to fall for him first but you had both ended up together eventually, worked out pretty well since he hated other Talon members seeing him when he took a particularly bad hit. You had gotten pretty good at fixing him up and you had started keeping the needed equipment in the quarters you shared for that purpose.
It had been a particularly quiet night so the head of the medical department sent your team home early, saying that you just had to be on call in case something happened. You were fine with that, gave you time to relax. Opening the door to your quarters, you froze and drew the gun out from its holder before moving forward. The place was a mess, furniture broken and turned over. The plates that had been on the table were shattered on the floor. Moving towards the bedroom it seemed only Reaper’s stuff had been broken, your stuff seemed untouched . . . oh no.
You quickly put your gun away and darted out, starting to look for your partner. It had to be Reaper who did that, no one else would be that considerate with your stuff but so reckless with his. Everyone at Talon knew him and was terrified of him after all. After some searching you found one of the training rooms was pitch black, searching along the wall for the light switch you paused hearing soft sobbing.
“Reaper?” you called softly “Love it’s me it’s Y/N I’m. . .I’m going to turn a torch on okay?”
You got the torch off your belt and turned it on, aiming the light up at the roof so that soft light flooded the room but would still hopefully give him the sense of safety the darkness normally gave him. You propped the torch so it would stay before moving over slowly, he’d admitted after a lot of pestering that he had bad days. Where he just couldn’t cope and you’d promised to help him through it, that’s exactly what you were going to do.
Kneeling in front of him before grabbing his clawed hands with your own, you pressed gentle kisses to each finger then to his palms. Putting his hands down onto his lap, you pulled him against him tightly. Resting his scarred face on your shoulder, he tried pulling away but you just tightened your arms around him.
“Reaper Love let me help” you whispered and he let out a growl “Gabriel! Please let me help”
At his real name he paused and relaxed into you, continuing his soft sobbing and you stroked his hair, kissing the top of his head gently while you let him cry everything out. You’d told him that he had to let it all out eventually or it was going to break him, you were just glad he hadn’t hurt himself too badly. The only injuries you could see was were his clawed gloves had dug into his arms but they were already beginning to heal up.
You started to hum quietly, a lullaby that everyone had been taught when they were younger just as something for him to focus on when he could calm down. You continued the humming until you heard the crying stop, quiet deep breaths were then heard as well as a few snuffles and you got the small travel sized pocket of tissues out of your pocket and gently pulled back. Starting to slowly dry his eyes and cheeks, pressing a gentle kiss to his forehead when you were done.
You never asked when he came home angry, confused or close to tears-visible only when he took his mask off which he only ever did around you-and so you didn’t asked then. Just wrapped your arms around him in a hug, letting his arms wrap around you tightly as he buried his face into your neck. Taking slow, deep breaths he mirrored your breathing which seemed to get most of the rest of the tension out of his body.
You stayed there for another hour, just sitting and resting. Shifting only when your legs started to fall asleep but he pulled away, looking stronger than before but he still looked exhausted. You stood the two of you up, gently grabbed his mask and held it out to him-pretending you didn’t notice his shoulders relax as he slipped the normally comforting item onto his face-then led the way out of the room. Grabbing and turning off the torch as you did so.
The two of you walked back to the apartment, Reaper went to start cleaning up as you shut the door but you grabbed his hand and gently guided him to the bedroom.
“You get changed while I run you a warm bath okay?” You whispered, gently taking the mask off. He nodded and you smiled before putting the mask on his bedside and moved to the bathroom to run him a bath.
You’d caught him looking over the few bath bombs you had curiously so you used one of the lavender ones in the bath, filling the room with the soft scent of lavender as the water turned a light purple colour. You made sure the water stayed warm and didn’t become too hot and thus didn’t notice Reaper sneaking in behind you until his arms wrapped around your waist, you simply patted one of his arms and let out a soft giggle as he nuzzled your head.
“In you go, it’ll help” You said looking at him and he gave you a smile, clearly trying hard to act okay for your sake
“Not until you join me” He said, pulling you against him and you put up a show of protesting before letting him help you undress.
The only times he asked you to join were when he didn’t want to be alone with his thoughts so you figured it couldn’t hurt. You both got into the bath, Reaper nestling you against him. He quietly asked about your day and you just started talking, he listened and focused on you instead of the monsters attempting to whisper in his ear like they often did on bad days.
He silently wondered what he would do if you weren’t there to help him then quickly dismissed the thought, he knew what he would have done. He never wanted to get that bad and he’d try not to. For you and for himself. He’d never let anything hurt you. Especially him.

Please Read!!!
Hello! So I am the author of this blog, Mari!
So overwatchvsreader is my revamped of my blog @imaginedoverwatch!! So this will be almost the exact same as imaginedoverwatch, however there are a few things that are changing!
So the first and probably the one you guys might be most interested in, is story requests, matchups and headcannons.  Because of past experience and knowing im going to have a hard time doing a TON of story requests and matchup requests. Im actually putting a very limited kinda space on those and I will let you guys know when they are closing and opening and how many im taking at one time. The other part is that, the main part of this blog will actually be headcannons now. Partly so its easier for me, partly because I love writing headcannons, partly because Im not sure how much time Im gonna have on my hands, and partly because I can do more than one character at one time. I will also be trying to add more detail to the headcannons as well, instead of them being short and vry awkward on my part.
There will be expections to this however. For those of you who want and have been waiting for Part 4 of my ReaperXReader (the Talon one where Reaper and the reader have a crush on each other but THE READER IS TO SHY, also link for those who arent sure which Im talking about!), I will be HOPEFULLY writing a part 4 to that soon!!!
I don’t know when but soon! There will also be exceptions to some requests that I love the idea of and wanna actually write and dedicate a full story too!
Another thing is, Im trying to also be very active (or atleast semi active) over on my archives of our own. If any of you want that, lemme know :p
One of the last things is there will probably be some stuff about games coming out that Im HYPED for. So be prepared for those.
Anyway! Im out! Have a great night guys! (There will eventually be a shortened version floating around my blog so don’t worry!!) (Oh and would you guys like to see my stories over on this blog instead?)

I absolutely love your blog omg can you please do a reaper/talon assistant reader one shot where they have a huge crush on him but they're way too shy to say anything and they always get blushy and stuttery around him? Thank you!
First, thanks for the ask! lol and Im so happy that you like my blog!! You have no idea how happy I was when i read this and saw you said you liked it ;n;Second, omfg. This. This idea. I love it and I hope i did it justice. :’) I did have an idea going into this but lol, I wasnt completely sure where to go with it and Ill probably do a part two with a confession. Maybe.
“G-Good morning Co-Commander
” The remains of Gabriel Reyes, looked up and huffed as the woman entered his office but he smelt the coffeeand relaxed a little. “I-I brought coffee and t-the president s-sent theseforms last night
”(Y/N) (L/N) was his assistant, not that he particularly needed one but he putup with her, he liked her reactions and she kept him company. Plus she kept himon him.“Let me guess.” His voice was sharp and he huffed. “Another raid coming up.”“Y-Yes sir.” The woman moved over, placing the coffee and forms on his desk.“D-Do you need anything else
?”“That is all.” He told her and she could see his sharp eyes.Bowing she turned and moved out of the office, leaning against the door as itshut and moved hands over her face and groaned to herself.
“¿QuĂ© tal?” It was moments before the hacker began to speak thatshe appeared in front of the woman who yelped, moving a hand to her heart inpanic.“S-Sombra
! How many times have I asked y-you not to do that?” (Y/N) asked, pouting slightly at her friend who began to laugh. That was until the door opened, (Y/N) being pushed forward into Sombra and thetwo fell down as Gabriel opened the door.“Be qui—“ There was a stop as he saw his assistant and Sombra on the floor andthe group just stared at each other for a moment. “What on Earth!”There was a squeak from (Y/N) as she was pulled up off her friend and tuckedagainst Reaper. “Awww~ You jealous Reaper~” Sombra smirked at him as she pushed herself up,winking at (Y/N) who flushed and puffed her cheeks out at her.Sombra knew of her crush on the half dead man but neither expect him to reactthis way. (Y/N) didn’t even want to look at him.“Get out and away.” The assistant could just tell he was glaring from behindhis mask, she could tell by how tense and frustrated the air was around her.“S-Sir you
d-don’t need to r-react like—““I’ll deal with you in a moment (Y/N).” He told her with a small growl beforeSombra gave her a sympathetic look before waving and disappearing probably togo annoy Widowmaker or another Talon agent. It took a moment before Reaper pulled the woman back into his office, doorslamming behind them.
(Y/N) squeaked, moving her hands to cover her ears and didn’t darelook up at her superior even after he let her go.“(Y/N) what did I just see out there.” He demanded, voice cracking and (Y/n) didn’tknow if that was a good or bad thing.“N-Nothing s-sir
!” she told him. “I-I left your office a-and was leaningagainst the door and t-then So-Sombra appeared and we w-were talking and y-youcame o-out and knocked m-me into her s-sir.”“So you’re telling me there is nothing between you and
 Sombra.” “N-Nothing sir I swear
! I’m int-interested i-in someone b-but it isn’t h-her.”(Y/N) told him. “No-Not that there isn’t a-any issue o-of being gay
!”
“I know there isn’t.” There was a snap and both went silence, thewoman fiddling with her hands and looking down while Gabriel watched her. “I don’twant you going out with her. Or anyone right now (Y/N).”The girl looked up, looking at him with wide eyes and tried to gather the wordsto ask why however Reaper beat her to it.“Our job. Is more important than a relationship. You should know that.” Voicesharp, he turned away from her. “You may go.”There was footsteps and a shut of a door after about a minute telling him shehad left and he sighed.
But then it hit him. What was left of Gabriel Reyes, was in love. He was in love with his assistant(Y/N) (L/N).

Hello! I've found your fanfics over ao3 and I loved it! I have a small request for you too, if you don't mind. Would you consider writing a ReaperxReader short, mostly concerned around hurt/comfort theme? I don't see much caring Reaper fics around and this is something I'd look forward to during hard times. It doesn't have to be a couple, maybe somebody he looks after. Maybe putting them to sleep, or comforting them, sth like that. Thank you in advance, looking forward to read more of your work!
HEY ANON I HOPE YOU SEE THIS BECAUSE IT’S LIKE 1:30 AM OVER HERE AND I ONLY WRITE/PUBLISH LATE AT NIGHT APPARENTLY but thank you so so much for this request and i HOPE YOU LIKE IT !!!!!!

I was wondering, would you consider writing more of that Reaperxreader story? I'm really enjoying it. Thanks and ur awesome!
((A/N - I love cliffhangers sorry))
—
You had asked everyone back at base the question of how Reaper knew your name. The only answer they could provide was that after he had hacked into the Gibralter base, your name came up. You just happened to be in the wrong place at the wrong time to get captured by him. The other agents provided you sympathy; no one had ever escaped Reaper’s grasp before which meant he’ll probably still be after you.
“You shouldn’t be worried, (Y/N). We’ve fought Talon before and we’ll most likely fight them again. You just got unlucky.” Winston explained.
“I just thought it was weird that he only asked me like two questions about the recall. If you caught someone from Overwatch, wouldn’t you want to know every detail about it and then kill them instead of letting them go?”
The big gorilla sighed and pushed his glasses back up onto his face; they had slid down from looking down to your height.
“You were nearly killed and he didn’t exactly ‘let you go’. Agents still had to infiltrate their base and seek you out. You’re lucky we found you when we did.” An eyebrow of his raised.
“I know, and I’m grateful. It’s just
 Confusing.”
You looked down at your hands fiddling with each other. Fading red marks still showed on your wrists from where the bonds had pinched your skin.
“Just be careful, (Y/N).”
You looked up at Winston, nodding your head and reveiving a small smile in return.
—
Smoke. Dark, black smoke. Wisps entertwining. Curling, dancing through the air. Smothering. Difficult to breathe-
A loud gasp escaped you. Cold sweat drenched your bedsheets. Fingers grasped onto the covers which were tangled between your legs. Your eyes shot open to be greeted with darkness. You hurridly leant over to switch on the lamp, it’s dimness making the room glow. Shadows danced on the walls, the lights flickering. The corner was still dark. You stared at it, wanting to scream. Something.. moved?
“Reaper?” You croaked. Your throat was dry.
Wisps of darkness licked at the sides of your bed, any movement you made making the shadows move too.
Silence.
You let out a breath you had been holding, cursing yourself for thinking that Reaper could have actually made his way onto the Overwatch base into your room. You leaned over again to switch the lamp off, your eyes bleary from being woken up so suddenly. Black enveloped the room. You tiredly slumped back into the sheets, running a hand over your clammy forehead.
Your eyes drifted shut. Images of a white owl skull surrounded by mist flitted through your mind. Your body relaxed, not realising how tense your body had become. You rested into an easy sleep.
The shadow in the corner disappeared.
—
“Our intelligence suggests Talon is recruiting. As you can see from here, activity has increased in the area of a known Talon base, which we believe has been turned into a training ground.”
Winston was at the forefront of the group of agents, you included. He was currently explaining what Talon’s motives could possibly be and from the looks of things, they were growing. A satellite map of an old town showed on the holoscreen.
“We need agents to scout and disable the base.”
An unconfortable silence dropped in the room. Since your unfortunate kidnapping and torture, everyone had been on edge on fighting Talon. It had to be done though.
“I’ll do it.” You volunteered.
Winston frowned at you.
“They know who I am. What’s the point of putting others in danger if they don’t know who you are? Besides, they didn’t even kill me.”
“(Y/N)..”
“No. I didn’t give in last time and it’s not like Reaper is even going to be there, if it’s just a training ground as we suspect.”
Small murmers drifted around the room.
“Very well.” Winston coughed. “You’ll need backup. McCree?”
“On it.” He replied.
At least you wouldn’t be going alone.
“Agents dismissed, save (Y/N) and McCree for briefing.”
The others scraped their chairs back and began to file out of the room. A few hands squeezed your shoulder for reassurance as they passed.
The last agent closed the door quietly behind them.
“This won’t be easy, (Y/N). I hope you know what you’re getting yourself into.”“I’ve come face to face with death himself. I’m sure I can handle it again.”
McCree raised his eyebrows at you. Winston sighed.
“This mission requires you to be.. undercover. To pose as recruits and shut them down from the inside. From the statistics Athena has supplied, if all goes well then it should take a maximum of 18 hours.”
Now it was your turn to look shocked. That wasn’t a long time at all.
“This really is jus’ in 'nd out, ain’t it?”
The scientist nodded solemnly.
“It should give you enough time to get in, find out the information you need and then.. Well..”
You and McCree looked at the gorilla, confused.
“Destroy the base.”
You side-eyed the cowboy sitting next you. Explosions were neither of your fortes.
“You will be supplied with charges to place around the area. These will explode once both of you are in the clear and out of ways harm.”
You nodded. It had to be done.
“Come on then, pardner. We best get talking strategies.” You looked at McCree.“This ain’t fun 'nd games, (Y/N).” He retaliated, clearly annoyed at your poor impersonation of him.
You tutted at him. You stood up and sauntered to the door, confident that this mission was going to go well.
“Are you coming or not?”
McCree grumbled under his breath and pushed his chair back, raising a hand half-heartedly at Winston as a thanks. His dark eyes scowled at yours, only for him to be met with a sickly sweet smile.
“C'mon, old man. We need to work on our disguises.”
—
“Joel Morricone and Alex Smith.”
The guard looked at his holopad and back up to meet yours and Jesse’s blank stares. The light above the door blinked green and you were both ushered through. You shared a nervous glance with Jesse, surprised you had actually made it through. The corridor was dark, dim lights strung up on the ceiling. At the end of the corrider was a set of wooden double doors, one door propped open with an three legged stool.
It opened through to a large hall, similar to an old school cafeteria. Around twenty other people were milling around, hoping to be the 'lucky’ ones accepted into Talon’s ranks. A figure strode in through the side entrance, instantly grabbing everone’s attention. They walked to the front of the group with their hands clasped behind their back, making the chatter die down.
McCree brushed his gloved hand over your arm, making you glance up at him. You were met with his slightly furrowed brows, chocolate pools etched with concern. You nodded and smiled weakly at him. To anyone else it would have looked as though he was reassuring his friend. You knew he was looking out for you, wanting to make sure you were okay after your last encounter with Talon. Although your outward appearance may say otherwise, inside you were quivering at being this close to the enemy.
“You’re all here for a reason. What that reason is, is now in the past. Pass our tests to join Talon and you’ll be looked after.”
Blunt.
“Follow me.”
The man turned around and strode towards the door he originally came through. The group hesitantly followed after him, you and Jesse hanging in the back. The door opened into a large yard filled with training dummies and straw littering the ground.
“This is the combat training ground. The room you were just in is the cafeteria. This is where you will train, eat and sleep until you have passed into our ranks. From then, you’ll be relocated.”
Winston was right, these are just used for training for new recruits.
You glanced at Jesse, confirming you were both thinking the same thing, his brows still crossed and lips slightly parted as though to say something
“You, come here.” The gravelly voice commanded.
You were snapped out if your thoughts when you realised he was pointing at you. You had to comply if you wanted to complete the mission. You stumbled over your own feet from nerves, coming face to face with the operative.
He was incredibly muscly. With his arms crossed, veins seemed to pop out. A black bandana covered his lower face, and a grey beanie sat perched on his black curls.
“Training starts now.”
He lunged towards you to attack, but you managed to sidestep in time. He faultered, spinning around to catch you off guard. He grabbed your arm and pushed it up behind your back making you grunt in pain.
His foot caught the back of your knee, instantly making you fall to ground with him now positioned on top of you. He leant down so his face was close to yours.
“Given up on Overwatch, have we?” He whispered, humour hidden behind his dark voice.
Your head shot up, instantly looking for Jesse. You knew that whisper. The gravelly voice. You should have realised earlier. Your eyes met your partners, his fists clenched and looking as though he wanted to help you. He couldn’t though, otherwise he too would be outed.
You wiggled in his grip, desperate to be free.
“You just couldn’t stay away, could you?” He chuckled deeply, only so you could hear. “The ingrate won’t be able to help you this time, (Y/N).”
You slumped. Fear coarsed through your body. You had no idea how you were going to escape.
