I just met a youtuber I follow and fully bluescreened. (Red of OverlySarcasticProductions)

I'm at C2E2, wearing a mask and passing out 'no con crud' buttons to others masking. After a panel I ask a nearby woman if I could give her a button, then I notice she's wearing an OSP shirt and compliment her. She seems surprised that I know OSP so I say 'yeah, Blue just posted but I haven't had a chance to watch it' because we've been at the con, obviously.

Then she says "I'm Red's mom, that's Red." and points to another woman.

I'm pretty sure I asked "For real?" and they confirmed that Red's mom always wears merch when they're together, and this second woman DOES look like the few times I've seen Red's face. I couldn't figure out what to do with myself, so I said "I don't know what to do." and Red replied that "It's all good, we're just vibing."

Then I realized Red is also wearing a mask, so I give her a 'no con crud' button, and remember that I have tiny turtles so of course I have to also give her a red and blue one, and Red's friend realizes oh, we're doing trinket trading? and I give her a tiny turtle (purple) and she gives me dino bubbles.

Watching What If's obessession with Captain Carter is kind of hilarious because I've never seen such a blatant example of what Red on Overly Sarcastic Productions talked about in her trope talk on Badasses where she talks about how you need to SHOW your character is a badass instead of just being like "whooooaaaaa look at this character arent they a badass they're so coooooool"

When in reality your audience is kinda *collective eye roll*

since red osp just posted about unreliable narrators and how the concept doesn’t just apply to literal narrators but to the concept of narration... god do i love the unreliable narration in yellowjackets. because with both timelines, we know what we actually see onscreen that’s not in a vision ACTUALLY happened.

with the way that the camera operates, we can tell when we break out of vision sequences what we’re left with the physical reality .. but we don’t know for sure if the visions are natural and coming from inside their own heads and their collective trauma, or if The Wilderness TM actually IS a malevolent, hungry deity guiding the events. it’s about how we know most of the physical happenings in the two timelines but nothing ever pushes these happenings, for sure, into the realm of magic.

and personally, i hope that it stays like that. the human desperation to try to make meaning out of tragedy that might or might not have any is one of the most compelling aspects of the show to me
