A little something I wrote inspired by this line.

Never having been in love, this is going to be a real trick. I think of my parents, the way my father never failed to bring her gifts from the woods.

She always brought him something from the woods.

The first time she brought him a single dandelion.

It had been a long winter, and the sun had only begun to peek through the cold shadows. It had been a good hunt today, with 2 rabbits and a squirrel shot right through the eyes. Her short dark hair tickled her neck as she practically skipped back home.

That's when she saw it – the first spring flower, a lone dandelion lurking between the wet shadows. She scurried towards it and quickly plucked it, almost afraid it would run away if she wasn't fast enough.

"Peetaaa," her voice rang through the house as she peeled off her shoes and hung her father's hunting jacket on the hooks Peeta had installed for her.

"In here," Peeta called from the kitchen.

She found him all serious, wrinkle between his eyebrows as he kneaded some dough. She skirted towards him wanting kiss the lines between his eyes.

"Hi, bread boy," she whispered sweetly before kissing the frosting off his lips.

"Hi," he said in between kisses

"Mhm, vanilla." Katniss breathed licking his lips.

"Here, try this," he said, spreading a thick layer of icing on a cinnamon roll and handing it her.

"Mhmm, so good. Thank you baby," she said between huge mouthfuls.

"I got you something from town today," Peeta sang, reaching into his pockets.

"Show me, show me," Katniss almost begged.

"You know Thom's little sister, Darlene," she nodded. "Yeah, well, she was really happy with her birthday cake and wanted to give me something in return."

He pulled out a long strip of transparent lace.

Katniss' face broke into a huge smile. "A ribbon? What does she think you're 12 to go around wearing ribbons?" she teased.

"Be nice, Katniss, she's only five. I doubt she knows how to gift a grown man," Peeta said.

"You do know she has a crush on you, right?" Katniss said, grabbing another cinnamon roll, stuffing her mouth once again.

"Who doesn't?" Peeta sassed, swaying his hips.

"I don't," Katniss rolled her eyes.

"Oh really?" he eyed her mischievously before grabbing her arms, leaving all but an inch between their sugary lips. "I wouldn't be too sure about that."

She shuddered involuntarily. Even after a year of being with him, just being near him made her weak in the knees. His warm hands slid down her arms before gently turning her around so that her back faced him. Slowly, he brought his hands up to her hair, bunching half her hair into a ponytail and tying the flimsy lace into a bow.

She turned around, beaming in his arms, peering into those blue eyes.

"Wow, birdie, look at yourself."

She blushed bright red before pulling out her dandelion from underneath the table.

"For you," she said shyly, holding it right under his face.

"Thank you, birdie," he said, delicately taking it from her hands as if it would slip from his grasp like water.

Her blush deepened. She loved it when he called her that. It reminded her of her father, that he was still a part of her, and just like him, she still sang wild and free. A bird that's what she was.

"You're my dandelion in the spring, you know that, right?" she whispered.

"I know," he whispered back, burying her mouth in long, warm kiss.

After that, she brought him something every day. Sometimes it would be tufts of dill or rye. Other times, she would bring him shiny stones that reminded her of the color of his eyes. Sometimes a feather or a leaf, but mostly she brought him flowers. She brought him wild onions because it reminded her of the day she broke her heart. She brought him daisies because they were as pure and white like his soul. She brought him sunflowers because he was her sun and followed him everywhere he went.

He kept a whole shelf dedicated to her gifts and pressed the flowers inside his notebook. It helped remind him that all was not lost on the more difficult days when she could not get out of bed or talk to him.

And on the night they conceived their first child, she whispered into his arms.

"I'm going to call her Dandelion."

42 BC – Tiberius, Roman emperor, born (d.37 AD); second Roman Emperor, from the death of Augustus in CE 14 until his own death in 37 AD. Tiberius was by birth a Claudian, son of Tiberius Claudius Nero and Livia Drusilla. His mother divorced his father and was remarried to Octavian Augustus in 39 BC. Tiberius would later marry Augustus' daughter Julia the Elder (from an earlier marriage) and even later be adopted by Augustus and by this act he became a Julian. The subsequent emperors after Tiberius would continue this blended dynasty of both families for the next forty years; historians have named it the Julio-Claudian dynasty.

Tiberius was the predecessor to Caligula and he was certainly the appropriate curtain-raiser. His sexual excesses were widely known, especially when he "retired" to Capri, governing Rome via correspondence, and becoming the patron saint of that future gay mecca. Suetonius reported that Tiberius trained young boys, whom he called his "minnows," to stay between his legs while he was swimming so they could lick and nibble him until he came. Suetonius reports that Tiberius can be credited with the "daisy chain" or spintriae - a conga line of people joined front and back in sexual congress.

1502 – Sandro Botticelli (c.1445- 1510) is accused of sodomy but the charges were dropped. The summary of the charge reads: "Botticelli keeps a boy." Botticelli was an Italian painter of the Early Renaissance. He belonged to the Florentine School under the patronage of Lorenzo de Medici. Botticelli’s posthumous reputation suffered until the late 19th century; since then, his work has been seen to represent the linear grace of Early Renaissance painting.

1942 – Barton Lidice Beneš, born in Hackensack, New Jersey (d.2012), was an artist who lived and worked in New York City. He studied at Pratt Institute, Brooklyn, New York and Beaux-Arts, Avignon, France.

His father, the son of Czech immigrants gave him his middle name in memory of Lidice, the Czech town destroyed by the Nazis that year. He grew up in Queens with Czech-born grandparents, who instilled in him a dedication to the Roman Catholic traditions of reliquaries and memorials to the dead.

Barton Beneš' art incorporated shadow boxes filled with bits and pieces that revealed the myths and ironies of life. The fragments in Beneš' work often involved famous people and events, from a piece of Elizabeth Taylor's shoe to a crumb from the wedding cake of the Prince of Wales. His travelling exhibition series about AIDS, "Lethal Weapons," was the focus of an independent documentary film released in 1997. "Lethal Weapons" consisted of 30 vessels such as a water pistol, an atomizer, and hollow darts, all filled with the artist's or other people's HIV-infected blood.

Another work, "Brenda," was a wall relief carpeted with red AIDS-awareness ribbons and slathered with a coat of gray paste made from the cremated remains of a woman who had died of AIDS. "I absolutely hate those [AIDS] ribbons," he said, contending that wearing them did nothing more than assuage people's consciences.

Although galleries and museums refused to show this work, they were displayed without incident at the North Dakota Museum of Art in 1993. Beneš did not forget the courage and commitment to art of this prairie institution. When he died he left instructions to be cremated and have his remains placed in a pillowcase on his bed. The bed was the central part Beneš last completed and most personal work, his 850-square-foot home in Greenwich Village containing thousands of objects including masks and religious relics and the mementoes and remains of his loved ones. This enormous piece with its thousands of contents will be moved to Grand Forks, North Dakota, where they will be exhibited in a replica of the apartment

Among the museums that have acquired his works are the Chicago Art Institute, the National Museum of American Art, the National Gallery of Australia, and most importantly the North Dakota Museum of Art.

Scott Wittman (L) with Marc Shaiman

1955 – Born: Lyricist and director Scott Wittman, who, with composer Marc Shaiman, his partner in life and collaborator in theater, film, and television projects, has a long list of credits in the entertainment industry. Their work on the musical version of John Waters' Hairspray earned Tony and Grammy awards in 2003.

Both Shaiman and Wittman grew up in the vicinity of New York City, the former in Scotch Plains, New Jersey, and the latter in Nyack, New York. Both were fascinated with musical theater from an early age and dreamed of careers on Broadway. Shaiman played piano with local community theater groups from the time that he was twelve, and Wittman apprenticed in summer stock in his hometown. Such was their love for the stage that they both cut high school classes to travel into New York for matinees.

Wittman attended Emerson College in Boston but left after two years to pursue a career as a writer and director in musical theater in New York. In the city's East Village he crossed paths with Shaiman, who had quit high school at sixteen to join the New York musical scene. Wittman was directing a show at a club in Greenwich Village when Shaiman came in and started playing the piano. Wittman promptly hired him. They subsequently fell in love and have been a couple since 1979.

The two soon began collaborating professionally, writing songs that Shaiman describes as "full of anarchy and joy."

Since 1997 Shaiman and Wittman have contributed and directed music for the Academy Awards presentation show. At the same time Wittman, who humorously calls himself "a great diva wrangler," has directed concerts. In addition to working with Bette Midler, he has had a long association with Patti LuPone and has worked with Christine Ebersole, Raquel Welch, Dame Edna Everage (Barry Humphries), and Lypsinka among many others.

Shaiman and Wittman's greatest triumph thus far is Hairspray, an adaptation of the 1988 John Waters movie for the musical stage. Shaiman and Wittman wrote the music, and Mark O'Donnell and Thomas Meehan the book for the play.

The show dominated the 2003 Tony Awards, winning eight, including best musical and best score. At the end of their acceptance speeches Shaiman declared to Wittman, "I love you, and I'd like to spend the rest of my life with you." The couple then embraced and shared a long and tender kiss. News outlets around the world took note of this affecting moment.

1964 – Waheed Alli, Baron Alli is a British multimillionaire media entrepreneur and politician. He was co-founder and managing director of Planet 24, a TV production company, and managing director at Carlton Television Productions. He was, until November 2012, chairman of ASOS.com. He is the chairman of Silvergate Media, which purchased two of the media rights previously held by Chorion Ltd, where Alli was former chairman. He is a Labour life peer and is described as one of only a few openly gay Muslim politicians in the world.

In British political terms he is considered Asian, though both of his parents are from the Caribbean. His mother, a nurse, is from Trinidad, and his estranged father, a mechanic, is from British Guiana (now Guyana). His mother was Hindu and his father Muslim; he has two brothers, one of each faith. He was named one of the 20 most important Asians in British media in 2005. At the same time, he maintains ties with his Caribbean roots, both with other British-Guyanese politicians such as Valerie Amos and Trevor Phillips, and with President Bharrat Jagdeo.

Alli joined the Labour Party at the persuasion of his neighbour Emily Thornberry, to whom he remains close. He is also close to Anji Hunter, Director of Government Relations in Tony Blair's first government. Prime Minister Blair used him for years as a means to help him reach out to a younger generation (aka "yoof culture"), and as such he is considered one of "Tony's Cronies". He was made a life peer as Baron Alli, of Norbury in the London Borough of Croydon, on 18 July 1998 at the age of 34, becoming the youngest and the first openly gay peer in Parliament. He sits on the Labour benches in the House of Lords. The BBC summarised his appointment as "the antithesis of the stereotypical 'establishment' peer – young, Asian and from the world of media and entertainment".

Alli has used his political position to argue for gay rights. He spearheaded the campaign to repeal Section 28. He advocated lowering the age of consent for homosexuals from 18 to 16, equal to heterosexuals; this eventually became law as the Sexual Offences (Amendment) Act 2000. It was during a heated exchange with conservative opponents, led by Baroness Young, that he informed his fellow peers that he was gay. In April 1999, he said in a speech, "I have never been confused about my sexuality. I have been confused about the way I am treated as a result of it. The only confusion lies in the prejudice shown, some of it tonight [i.e. in the House], and much of it enshrined in the law."

In 2009, he spearheaded an effort to repeal clauses in the Civil Partnership Act 2004 which prohibited religious institutions from conducting the ceremonies on their premises. This campaign culminated in a bipartisan amendment, which became part of the Equality Act 2010.

2007 – Breakfast With Scot - In 2006, straight Canadian actor Tom Cavanagh began filming Breakfast with Scot, in which he plays a gay retired hockey player who becomes an adoptive father to a young boy. The film, released on this day in 2007, drew attention as the first gay-themed film ever to win approval from a major league sports franchise to use its real name and logo; Cavanagh's character formerly played for the Toronto Maple Leafs.

It was his birthday. Ugh.

Yet another humdrum day of feigned well wishes from silly little sycophants that just want to be as high up as him, hoping to step on him on their own way up. (He knows he's better than all of them, but do they really need to remind him every time they open their mouths and let drivel pour out? NO. But they do it anyway. *Sigh*) Yet another backpack from the higher ups as a show of "appreciation" for his dedication to the organization all these years. Yet another pointed text from his ex-wife reveling in his advanced age -- congratulations waylaid and thrown over a cliff long before she ever got to the "happy" part of happy birthday.

The only joy this day brings him is the wonderful dinner his daughter treats him to every year. Since she was 7 she decided it was her job to get her dad to show one real smile (not solely aimed at her) at least one day a year, so she always sends him some sort of surprise gift when he leasts expects it. Ironically, he has therefore come to completely expect it, but she still manages to surprises him every year (though it really shouldn't given the type of woman she has become) with caring and thoughtful gifts that mean the world to him. She may never understand how much, but she is the reason for his joy, and if she wants him to be happy, then he will, simply for her.

Therefore, he was excited (deep, deep down in his gut, probably somewhere behind his left kidney), and not all that suspicious, when he came back from yet another meeting on this damnable day to find the CD port of his computer popped open, with a disk lying in the slot, topped with a large pink bow. On the CD, someone had written "SURPRISE!" and beneath it, "Happy Birthday!"

Feeling a small bounce of excitement within him (that he will forever deny on pain of death or sodium pentathol), and wondering what his daughter had gotten him this year, he moved the bow aside and pushed in the disk.

Confetti explodes from tubes hidden throughout his office! His plants somehow start singing happy birthday songs, each in a different language! His blinds act on their own accord, closing to reveal another birthday message across the shutters! A party hat descends from a pulley machine lowering down from the ceiling tiles, to hang jauntily off the side of his head! His drawers pop open to reveal a cake that looks like it was baked, iced, and decorated in his desk! And his computer! Oh his computer…

His screen has been taken over by a repeating video of Eliot Spencer, Alec Hardison, and Parker, all in party hats, blowing kazoos with shrieking noises emanating from his speakers, and hoisting red solo cups and cupcakes at him mockingly from under a banner declaring "Happy Birthday!" in joyful, bright font. At the bottom of the screen, once the video had replayed enough times and he could hear again after the confetti pipe bombs stopped exploding in his face, a small message appeared at the bottom of the screen.

"Check the confetti." He scowled. He checked the confetti.

"Your birthday present is in your couch." He scowled. He checked his couch.

A close examination revealed the cushions were not at the exact angle he always left them in (to allow any interlopers who dared one, enter his office or two, sit on his furniture, to immediately slouch and slide forward in an unbecoming manner). Pulling away the cushions revealed a large streamer acting as a pull tab to open the base of his couch, and when he pulled it (cringing inside at the thought of any more…surprises) it revealed…A man. A man, wrapped in wrapping paper and ribbon (is that duct tape?), in a surprisingly secure manner to keep him from escaping. A man with a bow on his head and a USB taped to his forehead, along with a note. A note that read, "This is Colin Mason (also know to very few people as "Chaos," and to many more as "that asshole"). Please feel free to detain him at your leisure, you will find proof of many of his more embarrassingly simply hacking crimes on the USB (see: forehead)."

Suddenly, there was a knock on the door, and a young blonde woman hesitantly stepped inside while the rest of the floor looked in behind her, attempting to see what had transpired in his office in the past two minutes. Looking around curiously, having missed the start of the party, she finished her look-about to give him a small smile and said, "Heyyy, Dad, what's going on in here? And…nice…hat?"

He growled.

It is Jim Sterling's 53rd birthday. Ugh.

It was early, the sun barely peeking over the horizon, but Haruto was already at the small oven in the bakery, the dough in his hands taking shape with precision and care. He was the best baker in town. Everyone talked about the delicacy of his pastries, the unmatched flavors, and the irresistible aroma that filled the streets. But the secret to Haruto's success wasn't in perfect recipes. No, the passion he poured into every sweet was dedicated to one person: (name), his senpai.

Haruto had been obsessed with her ever since their eyes first met, when she walked into the bakery weeks ago. Her eyes sparkled, her soft voice sent shivers down his spine, and from that moment on, he made sure she received something special every time she came by. But she had no idea how much he loved her. She didn't know that he watched her with a fervor bordering on madness.

As he worked, his thoughts were entirely on her. Today, he was preparing something special. A strawberry cake delicately covered with vanilla cream and adorned with crystallized rose petals. Everything had to be perfect, just like (name). She always stopped by the bakery on her way home, and he made sure there was something reserved for her, something made especially for her.

Every move Haruto made was calculated. He knew her routine by heart—her schedule, the places she frequented. (Name) never noticed that he discreetly followed her, ensuring no one else got too close, making sure she was always safe—under his watchful eyes. But his senpai never noticed the intensity of his gaze from behind the counter.

That day, he prepared a special box for her. Inside, the strawberry cake was wrapped with a red ribbon that he had tied himself. The sweet, subtle scent of cream mixed with the fresh smell of strawberries was intoxicating. Before closing the box, Haruto slipped a small note beneath the cake:

"For my sweet senpai, my inspiration. I hope the taste reminds you of me… just as you're always in my thoughts."

When (name) walked into the bakery, Haruto's heart raced. Her gentle, carefree smile was all he needed to feel the world stop. He handed her the box with a controlled smile, struggling to hide the euphoria coursing through him.

"Oh, how beautiful! Thank you, Haruto!" she said, not noticing the tremor in his voice. The soft touch of her fingers when she took the box almost made him lose control.

As she left through the door, he stood still, watching until her silhouette disappeared on the horizon. But Haruto knew this wouldn't be the end. He would always be there, ready to make more sweets, ready to eliminate anyone who dared to get too close. Every cake, every loaf of bread, every pie was a silent declaration of his sick love, and no one would take (name) away from him.

After all, Haruto’s love was sweet… but also dangerous.

And for (name), he would do anything. Even if she didn't know that yet.

It had taken him a bit to figure out something to get her… and to be honest, he still wasn't sure if he had made the right call… but he'd already put it together, so he might as well see if she likes it.

“Hey, Sumi!”

He greeted the girl with a smile, before handing her two carefully wrapped boxes, both somewhat flat, though one was more of a large square, while the other was a long thing rectangle.

“I made you something for your birthday. It's not much, but… I hope you like it.”

The first somewhat larger box had a leotard inside. The fabric was a vibrant purple with an intricate pattern of flowers made up of thin red-ish pink lines, wrapping around it almost like a sash.

“I've been looking into light, stretchy, aerodynamic materials for a completely different project, so I thought I'd try my hand at making this… though Ann helped with the sewing and making sure it was the right size.”

Seriously, the way Ann could just eyeball the exact size someone wore was almost like a superpower of hers.

Inside the second thinner box was a modified rapier, a rather powerful one at that, as well as a long ribbon that seemed to glimmer in the light.

“I got this idea after seeing your routine. By itself it's just your standard rapier, but if you attach the ribbon like this-”

He picked up the sword and ribbon, looping a thin wire through the tip of the blade to attach it to the hidden mechanism inside.

“-then press the button on the hilt-”

The ribbon suddenly came to life, glowing a bright blue as the fabric surged with electricity.

“-and BAM! Now you got an electric whip sword!”

He tapped the button again to turn it off, before removing the ribbon and placing them both back in the box.

“It'll take a bit to get it right, but now you can have a little bit of practice for your routine, even while we're in Mementos!”

Probably not an efficient form of practice, since she's not really supposed to hit things with her ribbon, but it's the thought that counts.

It's difficult mustering up a faux excitement in order to appease family members and close friends, even though the vast majority hadn't bothered showing their ways of appreciation towards today's birthday girl. Parents aside, Sumi didn't expect any extravagant celebrations or overzealous enthusiasm since the majority of immediate family kept to themselves for as long as the red-head can remember. They never bothered sending a simple card, either, just to acknowledge today's importance. It became the norm when the end of March came around again, and it always ended the same. No joy, no elation, nothing different happened.

Just another, unimportant day.

This most recent year, however, presented a slight change in the usual routine. Not only did Sumi's most recent friends spam her phone with text messages, or several cake emojis courtesy of one infectiously energetic blonde delinquent, but her Senpai came prepared with several gifts in tow. As per the Aaron usual. Surprises and spontaneous benevolent gestures were her Senpai's specialty. She couldn't count the numerous times a steamy, hot cup of fresh coffee suddenly appeared by her side when depression took the reigns. Or when they found each other window shopping at the same mall and he kindly offered to take her out for a light lunch. His treat, of course.

Aaron always put her needs, her problems, and her well-being above his own. Though it may sound selfish, Sumi admired how much time he dedicated towards her overall happiness. Even when she fell into recession...

"..oh, you...made these?" It wouldn't matter what Aaron gifted her, be it something handmade or a rushed gift he bought before their planned meetup. Since it came from her senpai, it was rather important to her. #OneNETnewsInvestigates: Duterte Supporter in Bohol criticizes Goldilocks for Cake Inscription Policy

TAGBILARAN, BOHOL -- A pro-Duterte supporter named 'Crisvy' from Bohol recently ranted with extreme anger about the Philippine bakeshop chain 'Goldilocks' (owned by ShoeMart Investments Corporation [SMIC]) at the Alturas Mall in Tagbilaran City, supposedly ordering a cake for the nationwide 80th birthday of a former Philippine president 'Mr. Rodrigo Roa Duterte' last Friday (March 28th, 2025 -- Bohol local time) when the bakeshop company refused to add Philippine politicians without the potential consent or legally permissioned. Our investigative team of OneNETnews finds the right clues to get to the bottom of it, with the help of 'Canterlot High School' (CHS) student and party manager of the 'Sugarcube Corner' named "Ms. Pinkamena Diane Pie".

Surprisingly, not all the bakeshop chains support the nationwide birthday celebration of former Philippine president 'Duterte' in the pro-politics world, with some examples like 'Red Ribbon' (under 'Jollibee Foods Corporation' [JFC]) on their behalf. Netizens on social media are furious with online harassment and public scandal targeting a bakeshop chain in the Philippines calling out for a mass boycott and permanently distrusting customer service by refusing to include the inscription for an icing writing of Duterte-inspired birthday greeting, leaving it plained and regular "Pastel Blooms Chocolate Round Cake".

The incident quickly went viral online since this was the first time claimed that the Philippine bakeshop chain had hidden factors silently linked to the anti-Duterte supporters who were employed behind the emptiness of the written birthday greeting, which was supposedly placed there in the center of a chocolate cake.

On Sunday afternoon (March 30th), Goldilocks urgently addressed the isolation case throughout the late-weekend, but refused to make a public apology despite the calls for mass boycotts. Instead, they have issued an acknowledgment. There is no official policy prohibiting such dedications for both sides of pro and anti-Duterte individuals: "At Goldilocks, we truly believe in messages that celebrate, uplift, and bring people together - reflecting the joy and togetherness we've always valued. We are always happy to accommodate personalized messages on cakes that have space specially designed for greetings. We understand how much these moments mean, and we're taking steps to ensure every customer feels seen, included, and celebrated in every store, every time".

Meanwhile, the former press secretary of the Presidential Communications Office (PCO) and a current Filipino lawyer & vlogger named "Ms. Trixie Laviña Cruz-Angeles" said in part: "They do not say they have spoken to the employee and that it was a mistake. They just reiterate their vaguely worded policy. This is barely an acknowledgment. So, still not buying from Goldilocks. There are many other bakeries and restaurants throughout the Philippines there", said Trixie.

But what about the Dumaguete branch for Goldilocks here in Negros Oriental outside the Bohol area? They got radio silent for instance since none of them participated in the mass boycott concerns in some cities or provinces as the bakeshop branch of Goldilocks seems to have remained neutral, maintaining standard cake-decorating services for all Filipino customers without issue. To date, over 900 stores nationwide, including international expansion in the United States of America, Canada and Thailand.

As the situation continues to unfold, it remains to be seen whether the calls for a nationwide mass boycott and vandalism will materialize as mandated effective immediately. Other regions show the company prefers to approach this extreme politically sensitive matter with cautious neutrality. The former press secretary Trixie advises Goldilocks to implement more forceful measures to satisfy Duterte supporters if the bakeshop company wants to resolve this controversy.

Goldilocks may potentially violate the Republic Act #7394 or The Consumer Act of the Philippines in Title 3 with a sentence of 5 years in prison, and more or less than PHP50,000 (or U$D873), which is yet to be determined by the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) regional office in Bohol. Business operations are at severe risk for suspension and the licenses revoked, in addition to other penalties when officials find guilty without compliance.

This isolated incident demonstrates how political polarization continues to impact the Philippines because ordinary business choices such as cake decorations spark deep divisions among the entire population.

Aelles Briathenaet

Today (July 15th) is the first day of the holiday Briathenaet, the celebration of the first tribes to have migrated across the Bosphorus into Europe proper. Briathenaet is THE holiday for the month. The Migration was lead by the goddess Briathenaea and God Mask, and ended with blessed by the goddess Aleglea. It is a celebration of deliverance, freedom, survival, liberty and the escape from starvation. It is the time renewal, change, taking new paths, release and the formations of the first 7 tribes. And its is a time to honor and remember our ancestors, those that made the Migration, eons ago.

Day one of the holiday is spent fasting, in honor of those ancestors that had little to no food, many starving to death along the route. It is a time of thanks and remembering our ancestors. There is a silent candlelit ceremony led by two torch bearers, representing Brianthenaea, Mask and the ceremony is led by a priestess, representing Aleglea. Homes are cleaned and cleans on the first day. Then decorated in colors of red, white and yellow. Symbols of apples, Lilies, yellow flowers, butterflies and masks abound.

The second day is dedicated to ceremony with a great procession of people carrying either images of their ancestors or statuettes, representing those original people that made the migration. What follows is a feast and folly. And also great games are held, where the winners are given crowns made of apple wreaths and flowers, entwined with ribbons of holiday colors. These games last till the end of the 3rd day of the holiday.

Despite all the frivolity, it is a very serious and blessed holiday. A time to reflect on our freedoms, our liberties and those that sacrificed themselves to allow is to live as we do now. A time to give thanks to Briathenaea how shielded our ancestors along the way from the elements and gave us the apple orchards to feast on and gave us shelter. A time to thank Mask, the god of travels, who gave our ancestors safety and strength to carry on. And to Aleglea who awaited on the western back, embracing and blessing every ancestor that made the journey, blanketing the landscape with fertile fields, orchards, forests, fields and shelter.

Needless to say, the food of the holiday have a very apple theme to them: Pies, Cakes, stuffed and glazed meats and poultry.
