#jay talkin#fargo#wrenchers#see hims face SEE HIMS FACE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!#i got the ability to access high enough quality of my shows to screenshot so i hope we r all ready for what that means#yall yr gonna see my BOYS from my TEEVEE#n e way can i talk abt russell's performance as wrench for a bit. well im going to and you cant stop me#there is so much he does with the subtleties of expression as wrench that truly is one of my favourite pieces of television acting#i already knew he was incredibly good at conveying something as simple as the light behind his eyes changing from his role in TWBB but like#we get so much more time w wrench and hes got a lot going on under that carefully constructed persona#that i feel like his ability as an actor shines soooooooo well#hes playing a man who is making a concentrated effort to be very reserved w his expressions imo. yet you see SO much emotion#hidden in slight changes in his eyes and the smallest movement in his face. he has absolute control and awareness of such minute details#its really astounding!!!!! i cant think of many actors who have that level of skill in the face!!#there are scenes where russells face does not perceptably move and YET his entire expression changes somehow#like he can change the light in his fucking eyes he can just EXUDE a feeling so strong it can hit u like a truck#which ofc makes any more outward shows of emotion from wrench even more palpable#and part of that performance being so good is you CAN see him change his expression towards numbers vs everything else!#whatever connection these two have be it purely coworkers or romantic or what it is SOLD in wrench's subtle expressions#(and for the record im team 'married couple' bc it was innnnn the damn script. but however anyone interprets is cool no worries ok)#i couldve pulled even more examples if id gone thru more scenes but i just had this one open at the time so. <3#koff koff hack hack who said all that. mustve been a ghost. can u tell i rlly like this guys acting. i mean what. who keeps saying things

dunetwo thoughts: cinematographically stunning. it goes so fucking hard. plot-wise it's kind of weaker than i expected, though? i don't care for incest nephew but WOW i do care for irulan. i liked chani much better than in the book. i love the women unhinged potential.
in short: visually pretty. plot & themes make me think "i can FIX HER". perfect combination to activate my fandom brain

S-Tier: Explorer from Above (Hugo Drakenburg)
A strange visitor who came into this strange cave, trying to discover more of the Crystalline Cavern.
A-Tier: Tiger’s Eye (Topaz)
A sort of ‘head priest’ figure of the Crystalline Cavern. They are an antagonist to Explorer from Above as they do not trust his intentions. This worry is confronted when someone is in danger.
A-Tier: Obsidian (Vincent Reynolds)
A head guardian of the Crystalline Cavern. They are neutral to Tiger’s Eye and Explorer from Above and their conflict. However, when their conflict endangered one of their people, it is Obsidian who helped the visitor save the day.
B-Tier: Amber (Beth Anastazja)
A joyful yet clumsy member of the Crystalline Cavern.
B-Tier: Sapphire (Carina)
A dazzling performer who lives in the Crystalline Cavern.
B-Tier: Feldspar (Angeline Bianchi)
An architect who lives in the Crystalline Cavern.
B-Tier: Emerald (Matthias Neumann)
A suave merchant of the Crystalline Cavern.
B-Tier: Serpentine (Eiji Narukami)
A servant of Tiger’s Eye who looks after the new visitor periodically.

was so excited today because rehearsal was cancelled but i still had work to do for my lines so i was like i'll pull a classic unemployed move and go to the library. after i was done i looked up some books i'd been wanting to take out in the library system and lo and behold, 2 books i wanted were at the library and available! now you may be thinking to yourself surely she located the books no problem and successfully took them out to read. Well. That's with the foolish assumption that anything in my life is easy. neither of the books were where they were supposed to be or even down the length of the entire aisles, which i spent 10 minutes each scanning through. And now you may be thinking to yourself surely she asked the helpful library attendant to help me find the books. Well. That's with the foolish assumption that i'm good at talking to strangers when there's the potential for me to be made a fool of. which there was. and because at heart i am a child too scared to ask for ketchup, i did not ask for help to find the books and i went home empty handed. SAD!

#wow it was an absolute mistake to watch Furiosa right after Fury Road. honestly Furiosa was an absolute mistake in general holy shit#sry i havent been on tumblr lately my hands have been busy w projects but i HAVE TO VENT THIS OUT#WHY WAS ALL THE IMAGERY SO SOULLESS AND SHITTY?? WHY WERE THE COSTUMES CHEAP UNI-COLOUR PLASTIC??#DID THEY EVEN HAVE ANY BUDGET AT ALL? THE CREDITS ARE FULL OF NAMES. WHO THE FUCK ARE THESE PEOPLE DID THEY JUST SIT THERE#WHY DID THEY MAKE SUCH A LOSER VILLAIN LIKE HE HAD ZERO COOLNESS FACTOR NO HUMANIZING/LIKEABLE QUALITIES 0/10#WHY WOULD YOU PUT COMEDIC RELIEF IN THE FORM OF COMEDY RATHER THAN THEATRICS LIKE THE FIRST MOVIE#THEY CALL IT FURIOSA CUZ ITS MAKIN ME A FURIOUS#PLUS LIKE PEPPERING IN SCENES FROM THE FIRST MOVIE MAKES THIS ONE LOOK SO MUCH WORSE BY COMPARISON#hooh okay like fr tho there is no nice way to say it. that was terrible. like terrible bad. no redeeming qualities.#well. there were dogs. thats it. thats where the good parts start and end. i dont even know if they were real dogs tbh#the sound design/music was terrible too. many moments of just dead air (without purpose) or inappropriate sound#the acting was so reserved its like they didnt want any of the actors to show any emotion other than stoic (or comedic for the villain)#man that was definitely like a la croix flavour of movie (except i actually like la croix)#literally tho why did no one show any emotion at all#plus inappropriate romance added like??#and the heavy subject so pervasive in the first movie was like 'oh nvm that didnt happen everything is good here'#just wow man. wow. I wouldn't be as mad if this had any fun factor at all. zero fun to be had in this.#i s2g if there were less neon red paint as a stand-in for blood#... this would've been rated like PG 13 max. it couldve easily been trimmed down to PG like. it was so sanitized.#like im not saying they had to show a certain graphic subject. but they could have actually put the R rating to use#their budget wouldve been better spent rewriting the script and hiring less known actors.#idr when this came out was it a covid casualty or an enshittification casualty? probably the latter if not both#shouldve watched them in reverse order but i wasnt planning on watching the second.#like sure first movie is a bit cheesey and not a lot of depth because of how fast paced it goes. but it was FUN. the actors acted.#anyway thats my vent i gotta mentally cool off now lol that seriously made me so mad#ShitPost.exe#fr tho like i knew it was gonna be shit when i first heard about it happening and the actors they chose. but i didnt know it was...#...gonna be THIS BAD. like especially the visuals and dead air in between awkward one-liners that gave me secondhand embarrassment#0/10 dont watch Furiosa if you havent already. Am the last anon, it was DirecTV before they got bought out by AT&T (no idea if you have those there). But they were really strict, especially in the tech support department for god knows what reason.

#i think perhaps a good solution here would be for people who are customers of said service#to skip to a higher rung of complaints or - hell - the ceo#to complain SPECIFICALLY about the policy of customer service workers being threatened with firing for actively trying to help#like. hello i am a user of your service#it has come to my attention the tech support department have a policy of firing workers for going off-script to assist customers#this is deeply concerning and does not fill me with confidence any problems i have would be resolved#which naturally gives me reservations about continuing to use the service

i just read annihilation for the first time last week so i tried the movie. had to turn it off within the first 15 minutes lmao. i so wanted to like it for natalie portman, but i really fucking hate that they named her character (the POINT! is that she's nameless!!! what the fuck!!!) and then made her uber emotional about her husband's disappearance when in the book like a core aspect of her character is that she's extremely emotionally reserved. like she has emotional reactions to her husband in the book but they're NOTHING like sobbing to herself about him. such a misread it actually took me right out of the story and i had to stop.
#was not surprised when i read the director wanted the movie to be filmed like a 'dream of the book'#and that he didnt both to reread the book before doing the script?????#like no i DEFINITELY don't think adaptions have to be a 1:1 match of the source material obvs#but something should carry over. why the fuck did they name it The Shimmer???????????????????????#also it actually makes me angry they made her more emotional when it was a breath of free air for her to be reserved#like what the fuck. why does she need to cry about her fucking husband. jesus christ.#anyway. maybe i wouldve liked the movie more if i'd watched it first and maybe i'll try it again but right now im steamed lmao#as someone who LOVES adaptions - especially weird ones - i get really annoyed over blatantly bad adaptions lol#i checked the rest of the books just in case they gave them names later on and they literally dont#the point is that theyre nameless!!! that they are interchangeable and replaceable and always coming and going and part#of a collective. why the hell. did you fucking name them.#[long sigh]

ough watching a lot of video game video essays/reviews and having read blame! again makes me want to do a video essay on it
