I think a lot about how common it is for Raph to be the one to have direct focus put on him when Leo gets into all his near death experiences.

Like, when Leo is thrown off a building, it’s Raph who’s right there jumping after him, not even thinking about the consequences to himself when he does. When Leo almost gets skewered by the Krang, Raph’s right there to take the blow and send Leo to safety without a second thought. When Leo’s being strangled to near death, it’s a Krangified Raph doing the job, doing exactly what Raph would never, ever want to do. When Leo is telling Casey Jr to close the portal, it’s Raph who tries desperately to convince Leo otherwise.

Likewise, Leo is consistently very single minded when Raph gets forcibly separated from them. Both when in the sewers and by the Krang, Leo is dead set on finding Raph first and foremost.

I also think it’s interesting that during each of Leo’s near death experiences, the lightheartedness of his words during them goes directly hand in hand with both how close Raph is to him physically and how much danger Raph is also in in that moment. From a literal “I told you so” as Leo’s falling away from Raph to a soft joke about how “hero moves” are Raph’s style - both of these are on the more morbidly carefree side and both of these notably take Leo farther away from Raph and, in turn, have Raph not in immediate danger.

On the other side of things is the apology from Leo, heedless of the danger he himself is in as he seriously and genuinely speaks to a Krangified Raph face to face. Then there’s Leo’s freezing and desperation as Raph takes a hit meant for him and sends just Leo to safety, leaving Raph himself behind. Both of these involve much closer proximity and Raph being directly harmed - these together make Leo much more vulnerable in his words and actions, something not even the threat of death can make him.

These two care about each other so much, and they’re way too much alike for their own good.

Like YEAH I made the same observations! Season 5 is WILD (and is actually a lot like rottmnt like Leo's whole doubt in himself because of his lack of mystic ability at first? Literally the same subplot)

Was watching videos of a TMNT 2003 panel from way back in 2007 with Michael Sinterniklaas, Wayne Grayson, Greg Abbey (referred to as John Campbell), Ted Lewis, and Mike Pollock.

It was cute how Michael admitted that while the Dark Turtle episodes weren't his favorite to voice act, he really liked the interactions between Leo and Dark Leo from "DNA Is Thicker Than Water" where Leo was trying to get Dark Leo to change for the better and become good.

Leo x reader patrol gone wrong pt.10 2/3

Narrator: hey guys I have another character in this story your really gonna like…let’s just say their is a lot of flirting…anyways…so it was a nice warm and breezy night and you and April were taking a stroll through the city to find any clues or evidence on what happened after the last incident you and Leo encountered, he decided to come with you and April just in case so nothing bad would happen and as you were walking down the street, your foot hit something sharp and that’s when you reach down to pick it up. You had a shocked look on your face because when you picked up the object, it look like the same color of the magic that was used to hurt you and Leo and then as you, Leo and April were about to head back to the Lair so Donnie could investigate the magic object until you heard some giggling but it sounded like it was close near you guys, but you didn’t know where it came from…

???: *giggles* wow I must say I am impressed you actually managed to find my companions magic shards…I heard about you from my companion…but I never thought I meet you in the flesh…reader…

me: OK so this is the new character I was talking about just to pre-warn you guys. He is very very flirty and I think kind of flamboyant but we don’t talk about that OK so just to let you guys know there’s a lot of flirting but I’m gonna give you guys some detail about him and we can continue on with this story… so this guy is very flirty His code name is neonblade. And you guys will find out his actual name at the end of the story. He is 19 years old. He is 5’11 his date of birth is December 13. His status is that he works for shredder and he’s a hacker. His normal life is going to the School you and April go to but undercover. His ability is to fight and surpass even the most skilled fighters he has hypomotility and he has great flight experience. He is able to create any portal leading to wherever he wants to go as long as he sees the place first and thats he can remember where it is and he can teleport there using his portals. He’s also able to control some type of weather. Like lightning and thunder, along with ice and snow as long as the weather happens automatically…now that you guys have a little bit detail on who he is let’s get back into the story…

narrator: you are honestly shocked that this strange person knew your name maybe he found out from the person who attacked you and Leo last time I mean he did say that that person was his friend, so maybe they have some sort of connection and then you froze when he said the name of the person who sent him to find you…

???: I mean, master shredder did say you were an annoying little brat, but I must say you are quite the looker and very attractive I mean, if you just come with me and join my side, we could have a little fun if you know what I mean….

narrator: before you could say anything, Leo jumped in to protect you and kind of out of jealousy

Leo: first of all shredder is not alive. Last thing I remembered was that me, my brothers, April and my dad defeated him along with reader, so how is he still alive?…and second of all you do not have permission to hit on my girlfriend/boyfriend/lover only I am allowed to do that so back off!!!

narrator: he was shocked by Leo’s outburst but decided to keep his cool and to piss Leo off more he decided to flirt with you more like he didn’t even care about Leo’s threat…nor hear him…

???: hehehe anyways, reader are you sure you wouldn’t want to join us cutie pie I mean think about all the fun we could have just me and you no one else just us alone in privacy having the greatest time of our lives?

Narrator: before you could tell him how disgusted you were by him Leo, uses swords to make a portal to bring you guys back to the layer when you guys got back Leo was so pissed off he went to his room and you just decided to leave him be and go check on him in a few minutes when he’s a little bit more calm down, when the others asked you guys what happen you and April explained everything from investigating what happened the last time you and Leo got hurt and finding the magic shard that you gave to Donnie to finding out that shredder was back and alive and he has companions to help him get rid of you and the turtles…

??? POV: ugh!!! shit I almost could’ve had them to myself even though I’m supposed to be getting rid of those turtles and April that reader is quite attractive. Maybe I could get the master to allow me to have them to myself and I could play with them all I want and feel their body against mine!…ha ha ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha!!!

narrator: he then called his master on a holographic watch to tell him all the details of what happened when he encountered you, Leo and April

holographic shredder: what is it Koshi I have very important business I have to attend to so you better make.this.quick

Koshi (neonblade): I have good news for you master I found one of those turtles and in those two humans flower pedal(lily) was talking about and may I say the turtle in the human name April are really pains in the ass, but they’re friend reader… they might be a keeper…

me: if you guys don’t know who Lily is, Lily is flower pedal from the last story I had on Leo X reader patrol gone wrong pt.10 1/3 that is her actual name so if you guys haven’t, read that one go check it out…

Holographic shedder: I want you to do whatever you can to find out where their school is and what their weaknesses are and disguise yourself so you can blend in understood?…

koshi(neonblade): yes, master it’s understood I will figure out everything about them and their weaknesses so you can defeat them

holographic shedder: good now, I need to go. I have to finish my business….Don’t disappoint me….

Koshi(neonblade): I won’t master…

narrator: as shredder hangs up, koshi (neonblade) begins to laugh maniacally….

koshi (neonblade): hahahahaha!!!!…once I get my hands on reader I will make them mine no matter…what.it.takes…

I think about Leo’s “I’m your least favorite” comment to Splinter in “Down with the Sickness” a lot. It’s likely just a throwaway comment, a way to get Splinter to leave him alone before Leo gets sick too, but I can’t help but wonder if Leo believes it on some level.

Obviously it’s not true, Splinter loves him as much as he loves the others, but…it wouldn’t be shocking if Leo believed otherwise. After all, just in “Many Unhappy Returns” alone, Splinter has, with no hesitation, said comments like “my other sons would have taken this seriously” and “I knew I should’ve brought purple”, said “no” to Leo’s “I love you”, and pretty blatantly didn’t extend any trust in Leo’s plan even after Leo was fairly effortlessly defeating their opponents.

It was only after, when they’d already won, that Splinter finally gives him a “it was all you my son!” And…that’s basically it. Raph is the one who announces his trust in Leo. Not their father, even though Splinter is the one to witness Leo lowering his walls for once (which Splinter doesn’t react well too, because Leo only lowers his walls in the most hectic of times, and because he lowers them only then, either no one is around or no one is in the right state of mind to respond properly, leading to Leo building his walls back up, and the cycle continues.)

Again, it’s not because Splinter doesn’t love Leo, but Leo…can’t be feeling too good about all that. The way he never reacted surprised about any of Splinter’s words too…

He may know that Splinter loves them all, as a group, but individually…I don’t think Leo believes he ranks all that high with that love. Gives another meaning to “I’m nothing without my brothers” huh?

(Of course, I’m willing to bet the invasion changed that understanding, but with that comes the potential misunderstanding that his father’s outright love is tied to Leo sacrificing himself.)

VERSE 003. BIG FLIES BREAK THE WEB. ( 2007 VERSE ).

➤ ‘The Fly’ came as a result of a toxic waste leak stemming from TCRI experiments, headed mainly by DR. BAXTER STOCKMAN, coming in contact with a common housefly. Stockman discovered him as a baby and — utterly fascinated by his existence — took him in. He would go on to experiment with the mutagen ‘ooze,’ creating other mutant animals in the process  ( save for the turtle brothers and Splinter, who were purely accidental not unlike ‘Fly’ himself and unbeknownst to Stockman ). While Stockman initially treated them with the impartial attitude of a scientist, he eventually grew attached to them, treating them as though they were his own children. Thus, they became something of a strange family.

➤ Stockman’s experiments would eventually gain the attention of THE SHREDDER, who wished to use such findings to meet his own goals. While Stockman worked  ( against his will )  under the Shredder, ‘Fly’ and his siblings were often employed as well, often to do grunt work, much to Stockman’s reluctance and concern.

➤ ( Important to note: During this time, ‘the Fly’ did not have an official name like most of his siblings did. He was referred to affectionately by Stockman as ‘little one’ (even as that became significantly less true as ‘Fly’ grew older) and was referred to as ‘the Fly’ mainly by the likes of Shredder )

➤ The Stockman mutants consequently encountered THE TURTLES as a result of their work and affiliation with the Shredder, but were evidently incapable of stopping them.

➤ In the ensuing incident that resulted in Shredder’s alleged death, Stockman, too, abruptly vanished. ‘Fly’ — who was unable to help him in time ��� was the only one to witness the last moments before he did. After a failure to locate and recover Stockman, it is firmly believed that his life had been unfortunately lost in the chaos.

➤ The Stockman mutants promptly vanished after that; no one’s seen them in the years since their father went missing. However, there’s recently been an uptick in strange hijackings. Word on the street is that there’s a crime boss with an anomalous and elusive identity who goes by the name of SUPERFLY. Rumour is that he kills anyone who sees him, thus keeping his identity a secret. One even reported seeing something with wings carrying and stealing an entire truck.

➤ ( Basically, after Stockman’s alleged death, the Stockman mutants broke all ties to any previous affiliations and fled to an abandoned shipyard. They then created a rogue criminal group of their own, with Superfly, being the oldest, acting as their leader. After losing his father, Superfly grew bitter and resentful towards those who he felt contributed to his presumed death. Revenge is the one thing he has on his mind, and he doesn’t care who he has to take down to get it. However, while he and his siblings remain a team out of solidarity, his own bitter feelings have seeped into his relationship with them, making it quite tense and uncomfortable at times. )

➤ ( Additionally: Superfly is aware of the events of 2007 to an extent — not the full story, obviously, but he's aware of the vigilantism on the street as well as the monsters and the Foot Clan's connection to them. His activity was particularly quiet while the latter events were happening; he had enough sense to recognize that the monsters would directly interfere with his work (as well as potentially endanger his family) and that encountering the Foot Clan would only cause problems. Thus, he withheld all further activity until these strange events passed. He'd resume activity shortly after. )
