These are the originals for the works I posted earlier. As I said previously these are scans I made in 2012 of the original prints from 1987-88 . The originals were drawn using a mouse in a basic paintbox program on a BBC Model B from my own sketchbooks then printed out on an early inkjet printer - the overlay you see in the prints is made by simply rewinding the paper then overprinting a different version of the image again , the tutor said at the time that he had to refill the printer quite often when I was using it. There's also some use of a video scanner in some of them. I really wish I could track the original paint program down as it had some interesting features.

Kodak to showcase the worldâs fastest inkjet press at Hunkeler Innovationdays 2025
Kodak will highlight unmatched speed and versatility in inkjet production printing by running live demonstrations of the Kodak Prosper 7000 Turbo Press, the world's fastest web-fed full-color inkjet press, at Hunkeler Innovationdays 2025 (February 24 to 27, Lucerne, Switzerland), booth P4 in hall 1. The show will be the pressâs first appearance in Europe.
Kodak will showcase the Prosper 7000 Turbo Press printing with water-based Kodak Ektacolor Inks in a roll-to-roll configuration with an unwinder and a rewinder designed and manufactured by Kodak. The Prosper 7000 Turbo Press is the worldâs fastest inkjet press, capable of printing at speeds of up to 410 mpm (1,345 fpm). Its three print modes â turbo, performance and quality â enable printers to easily fine-tune optimal speed and quality balance for each job. These capabilities make the Prosper 7000 Turbo Press an excellent solution for migrating larger direct mail, commercial, transactional, and book printing jobs from offset to digital.
During Hunkeler Innovationdays, Kodak will be printing various applications at blazing speeds on the Prosper 7000 Turbo Press several times a day. Along with scheduled demos, printers can book individual demonstrations of the press through Kodak sales representatives.
Visitors to the Kodak booth will also have the opportunity to view a vast collection of print samples illustrating the high-quality output and the variety of applications that can be produced with the Kodak Prosper Ultra 520 press, powered by Kodak Ultrastream Technology, and the new Kodak Prosper Print Bar, which incorporates Kodak Prosper Plus Imprinting Systems.
Kodak, in cooperation with partners Horizon International and Hunkeler, will also demonstrate the efficient processing of paper rolls printed on Prosper Presses into finished printed products. A saddle-stitched catalog will be produced on a Horizon iCE StitchLiner Mark V, and a Hunkeler paper processing line will handle a demanding direct mail application.

Alright, buckle up, buttercups, because weâre diving headfirst into the wacky world where science meets art, and guess what? "What kind of sci-fi nonsense is this?" you ask. Well, welcome to the world of generative art, where artificial intelligence (AI) is the new Picasso, except without the weird mustache and probably less emotionally complicated.
Generative art is like that one friend who can never make up their mind at the pizza placeâit's all about algorithms deciding whatâs going to happen next, and just like that indecisive friend, itâs unpredictable but usually ends up being pretty cool (unless it orders anchovies). Basically, a computer, usually one thatâs been hanging out with neural networks and machine learning models in some high-tech frat house, creates art by processing a ton of data. Itâs like if Bob Ross had a baby with HAL 9000, and that baby was raised by the entire internet.
But before we go full-on Terminator with this, letâs rewind to where it all beganâback when computers were about as artistic as a potato with a crayon. In the olden days, before AI could outsmart you in chess or recommend you weird cat videos on YouTube, early algorithms were just trying to figure out how to draw a straight line. Now, fast forward to today, and these algorithms have gone from doodling in the margins of their textbooks to creating museum-worthy art. Think of it as the ultimate glow-up!
Now, hereâs where it gets really wild. Todayâs AI doesnât just spit out random pictures like your grandmaâs inkjet printer on the fritz. Oh no, these digital Picassos are using neural networksâfancy talk for computer systems that mimic the human brain, but without all the existential dread. These networks learn patterns, styles, and even emotions (well, kind of) by analyzing a gazillion images. Itâs like if your computer binge-watched every season of "Art Attack" and then decided to give it a go.
But hereâs the kickerâAI doesnât just stop at copying what itâs seen. Oh no, it goes full-on mad scientist, mixing and matching styles like a kid whoâs had too much sugar. Picture a painting thatâs one part Van Gogh, one part Banksy, and one part that meme of the distracted boyfriendâitâs like art went to a rave and decided to express itself through glow sticks and laser beams.
Now, hold your digital horses because the real mind-melter is that these machines are being hailed as collaborators in the art world. Thatâs rightâcollaborators! Imagine walking into a science and art gallery and seeing a painting signed by âJohn Smith and Toaster-3000.â Some folks are even saying that AI might be better at this art thing than us flesh-and-blood humans! I mean, sure, the toaster doesnât have a tortured soul, but it also doesnât need to eat or sleep, so itâs got more time to perfect that brushstroke.
Of course, this brings us to the big, existential question: who really owns the art? If a computer creates a masterpiece, does the credit go to the programmer, the machine, or some combination of the two? Itâs like trying to decide who gets the credit for a perfect selfieâthe person, the phone, or that one friend who told you, âYou should totally try portrait mode.â Itâs a debate thatâs shaking up the art world harder than a paint mixer in an earthquake.
And letâs not forget the skepticsâthose grumpy cats who say AI-generated art isnât ârealâ art because it doesnât have the âhuman touch.â Well, to them, I say: ever seen what happens when a toddler gets their hands on a box of crayons? Sometimes a little less human touch isnât such a bad thing. Plus, AI isnât just messing around with paintbrushesâitâs helping scientists visualize complex data in ways that are, dare I say, kinda beautiful. Imagine an MRI scan as a modern art pieceâsure, itâs not going to replace the Mona Lisa, but itâs got its own weird charm.
But hereâs the thing thatâll really twist your noodlesâAI is changing not just how we create art, but how we think about it. Traditionalists might scoff, but letâs face itâAI-generated art is challenging our ideas of creativity faster than you can say âdeepfake.â Itâs forcing us to rethink what it means to be an artist. Is it about the process, the final product, or just having a good Wi-Fi connection? Maybe the future of art isnât about one genius locked away in a garret, but about teams of humans and machines working together, like some kind of nerdy Avengers.

Picture it: your microwave refusing to heat up your leftovers until you acknowledge its latest abstract sculpture. The world is a weird and wonderful place, my friends.
In conclusion (because even I need to wrap this up before the machines take over), weâre living in a time where the line between science and art is blurrier than a selfie taken with a potato. AI is not just the future of artâitâs here, and itâs ready to paint the town red, blue, and every color in between. Whether youâre a fan of the traditional brushstroke or you think your coffee machine could be the next Jackson Pollock, thereâs no denying that AI is shaking up the art world in the most deliciously chaotic way possible.
So, next time youâre contemplating the meaning of life while staring at your smart fridge, just remember: that hunk of metal might be the next big thing in the art world. And who knows? Maybe one day, youâll be able to say, âYeah, I knew my toaster was a genius before it was cool.â

At the Canon booth (Hall 8A), visitors will witness the integration of Tecnau's Revolution 50 Stack 5251L with Canon's newly announced ProStream 2000. This powerful combination addresses a wide spectrum of commercial print applications, from B2 posters to A6 flyers, showcasing versatility and efficiency.
The variable sheet length feature of the Stack 5251L introduces unprecedented flexibility in application changes, enhancing productivity and short-run production. Revolutionizing cut-sheet finishing
The Canon varioPRINT iX3200 printer will be paired with Tecnauâs Stack 1010 in the Canon booth. This combination, first introduced in 2017, has been enhanced to support a 3up output capability, for more efficient production of small A6 postcards. Stack 1010 streamlines the production process by eliminating the need for a guillotine and associated labor-intensive tasks
